I'm pretty sure they do cook them yes. I can't imagine too many people being keen on eating them raw, unwashed and unseasoned. It's hard enough to convince people to eat them in the first place.
Where would you draw the line though?
Me, I would try grasshoppers. I draw the line at cockroaches and all types of spiders
