You are a Psychic.

In our world, not so long before or after our time, you live in the country of Astor, and belong to a unique group of people. For the last twenty years, a rare genetic anomaly occurs once in every 5 million people. These mutants, known as Psychics, each possess a unique magical ability that only they can use. Some of these spells are harmless, however others...are not.

Indeed, many Psychics hold offensive abilities, and despite repeated attempts at reassuring the public, Psychics are feared, vilified, and profiled by non-mutated humans and law enforcement alike, and many live in regret of their magical birthright. Some isolate themselves, living alone. Others allow the stereotypes to be true, and turn to crime and warfare.

You are a teenage Psychic, living a (relatively) normal life in the Astorian city of Tsuma. Ostracized from conventional social groups in your high school, St. Shenzi Prep, you socialize with the small, quirky, diverse group of other Psychics that attend. You hide your ability from society. You You live in a normal home, in a fairly normal city, with your family normal family. More or less, you are complacent with the way things are.

However, your life is about to change soon. After a mysterious assailant strikes at the center of each of your lives, you must embark on a journey with your friends to recover what's been lost....and uncover the secrets to the defining trait of your lives.

Hello, one and all, and welcome to Monasis, a teenage look at a divided world. In this roleplay, you are an adolescent Psychic, a human with a unique genetic mutation that gives you a specific magical ability. Your life is fairly normal in the fictional country of Astor, where you attend high school, remaining strong friends with the other Psychics (your fellow roleplayers.)

The story is intended to be a long adventure, take spans across many different types of lands, allies, and enemies. Throughout the journey, your friendships, relationships, and magical abilities will be put to the test. You may even come out a better, and even more accepted member of society.

Things to Keep in Mind:
- While a time period isn't specified, assume that this RP takes place a very very close future. Most technology is the same, however don't be surprised to see some high-level technology show up every now and again.
- Build relationships! Roleplays thrive on lively characters. Feel free to build friendships, enemies, and even romances!
- Your characters are all friends, who have known one another for quite some time. You have a history with these people, so coordinate with your other roleplayers to figure out some backstory!
- Your spell is unique to you, so make it unique! While it is a rule to ignore standard elemental magic, you should also account for your characters personality. Are they more offensive? Defensive? What do they like? What color would represent them?
- Astor is a fictional country, and while it is mostly Asian-inspired, there is a large amount of multicultural origin. Here's a flag!
- Be diverse! Create an interesting characters with flaws and prejudices, nobody's perfect, after all.
- Society doesn't necessarily accept your gift. While not everyone will judge you for it, others are scared, hostile, or even hateful towards your abilities. Understand how to fit into society's unwillingness to tolerate you.
- Society has evolved slightly more than it has now, and sexuality is no longer seen as clear-cut.Having relationships with any genders befroe determining your sexuality is fully accepted.

Personality: Petty, impatient, short-sighted, quick to blame others and judgmental, Iris likes to keep to herself and secretly mock those around her. Never mind the fact that she's being a massive hypocrite in doing so. She rarely talks and is intentionally blunt and deadpan when she does so. She hardly, if ever, lies due to her hatred of dishonesty and how it destroyed her seemingly perfect life. She also doesn't take too kindly to her own repeated failures since she tends to overestimate herself but she's as stubborn as a mule and simply won't stop pushing until she either breaks the challenge or is broken by it. Despite her many faults, she is utterly devoted to those close to her and would do anything to keep them happy and safe, with their safety taking priority over their happiness.
Psych Name & Description:
Hat Trick: Weapons that only have one shot before needing to be reloaded or replaced such as grenades, bombs, mines, muskets, and crossbows can manifest inside seemingly empty places on Iris' person like her hat or her sleeves. A maximum of four weapons can be mentally ordered around out of the user's thirteen weapon limit. The weapons disappear upon use but Iris can prevent it from doing so by grabbing hold of the used weapon.
Current Life Situation: Iris' lives in a fancy two-story house in the suburbs with her loving adoptive father who has been reeling from the loss of his flesh and blood son. Her relationship with her late sibling was a smooth one that was eventually filled with loathing after his death. After all, how dare he hurt her father like that! Iris goes to the same school as everyone else and has a consistent record of slightly above average grades. She often finds herself a lot of free time on her hands. She spends most of it silently venting while exploring town and the surrounding area. Sometimes, she even goes out of her way to hunt in the nearby forest.
Quirks: Being the shortest and youngest out of everyone in the group and in her class, Iris is sensitive about her height and age. She has a strange fascination with suits, hats and the color pink. She's also growing increasingly obsessed with besting her rival, the dead son of her adoptive father, and keeping her adoptive father happy so much so that she's starting to neglect her friends and studies. So far, both endeavors have been met with failure. Her hate for those that disturb the status-quo is second only to her hate of dishonest people, especially those who conceal what they feel and who they really are, and those that dare harm her loved ones. Another thing she hates are people that dance circles around her in conversations when she's the one supposed to do the dancing. Suffice to say, Iris is extremely clingy to those she warms up to. She fears four things, the loss of her loved ones, her inadequacy as a daughter and friend, being called out on said inadequacy, and her own inability to overcome those inadequacies.
Other: Doesn't really care about sex or romantic relationships. She isn't asexual; it's just that she has much more pressing matters to attend to like her familial responsibilities as a former orphan. However, that doesn’t mean she can’t be in a romantic relationship.

Personality: Margot is the (self-proclaimed) Queen Bee of the group, and has the most influence on the normal students of the school. She has adopted a 'class president'-style personality, and isn't one to shy away from doing what she wants. If a problem arises, she will step forward with a solution, and begin directing and dictating who does what. If anyone opposes, she (politefully) listens to concerns, but noone ever seems to have a problem with it. To some, she may come off as bossy, dictatorial, and unsympathetic towards those who are weak links. This is true to an extent, but Margot is also a very capable leader, who respects and tolerates her peers. Once you're doing your job, she will do everything in her power to make you feel as happy as possible, you just have to put your money where your mouth is.
Psych Name & Description: Loom: A powerful Psych, Margot can create a small 3x3 grid of energy capable of absorbing force, and then unleashing the stored energy by shattering the grid. This creates a powerful kinetic blast, acting almost as an explosive shield.
Current Life Situation: Margot lives in a medium-sized house, the middle child of two managerial parents. A fairly standard life, her parents were alarmed when she was diagnosed as a Psychic, and tried for years to nullify the mutation, fearing for their reputation. Despite her parent's complete refusal to acknowledge her mutations, Margot does not seem to harbor a grudge, and is a strong presence in the Pro-Psychic Equality Scene is Tsuma.
Quirks: Fidgets with her glasses often, enjoys coffee....a bit too much, acts like the adorable little sister to those she strongly approves of, thoroughly enjoys a fair debate or games of strategic skill. Loves being insulted for her tenacity.

Name: Aislin Ramsey

Appearance:
Current hair color is a nice dark teal, pale blue eyes, evenly tanned skin and a light dusting of freckles from her forehead down onto her shoulders and arms

Personality: Aislin is ambitious, and strives for excellence. She is very smart and feels pride in a job well done. Appreciates good humor, but generally stays quieter herself. She loves to talk with people, but she just doesn't have a tendency to speak as much as others. She, however, can be very timid and shy around those unfamiliar to her or in hostile situations. Aislin is ashamed of her disability and wears glasses and hides her cane as a sort of "cover up," which actually works semi well since she never has to go anywhere alone and has Echo.
Psych Name & Description: Echo: her psych is a sort of 'seer sense' in which she can see people's auras, sometimes items or pathways that resonate with her strongly, and at extremely rare and sporadic moments, a brief, jumbled, and vivid vision of a possible future event or outcome. She cannot control these short visions, and after recovering from them, cannot fully understand them at the time. These can be further explained in canon.
Current Life Situation: She lives with her godfather in a one bedroom apartment on the edge of the city. She attends the local academy on scholarship, and despite her blindness functions fairly well. Her lessons at the academy are with a private tutor so as to work with her disability. Usually is almost never without a friend or her godfather and thus rarely uses her cane. She keeps it folded up in her messenger bag.
Quirks: As long as you ask, she'll pretty much let her friends and family dye her hair whatever color they want. Collects music boxes since she doesn't have to see them to appreciate them. Other quirks will be figured out later.

Personality: Syrio is a slick operator. He's excellent at staying out of trouble, very intelligent, et cetera.

He's also an über-dork. Seriously. The guy can rattle off facts-any facts-like nothing. He's awkward around girls. And guys. Especially guys, but whatever. He stutters, trips over his own feet, and has mild OCD.
Psych Name & Description: Fractal. Basically, he can produce "blades" of energy from his fingertips. This energy looks like a shimmer in the air, and can cut through most things. Only a three-foot thick sheet of iron has been able to stop it so far. But when he gets pissed, it's a good idea to get out of the way until he calms down.
Current Life Situation: He lives with his parents outside Tsuma, but goes to school with the other PC's. Other than that, his life's kinda boring. Only child, middle-class parents, etc.
Quirks: Ya see the suit in his picture? He wears one all the time. Even his pajamas look like a tuxedo. If something gets on his suit, he will break someone. And in great Lavan tradition, longcoat. He's also OCD.

Personality: Eternally a fountain of upbeat, almost annoying happiness, optimism and imagination. She is quick to shift moods, from anger to happiness to sadness. Her level of animated happiness and excitement is almost cartoonish in it's over the top nature. Over the top being the best way to describe Aria. Everything she does it to the extreme. This tends to either quickly earn her friends or enemies.
Psych Name & Description: Boom: Aria can infuse an object with energy at the atomic level, making it rapidly unstable and causing it to explode when she wills it. She must be touching the object to infuse it, and once infused she can explode it at will. The longer she infuses and object, the larger and more powerful the explosion. This can also be dependent on the objects size.
Current Life Situation: Member of a loving family. Has two sisters and several cats.
Quirks:
- She's quite the artist in demoltion. Taking great and almost sexual joy in seeing things explode and things destroyed.

Personality: Jayson means well, but he can sometimes be a bit cruel in his playful teasing with friends. Wisdom isn't a strong suit of his, but he's certainly not dumb - just inexperienced with dealing with hardships in life. He's exceptionally willing to try new things, especially exciting things, one could describe him as daring. This likely stems from the boredom of his every day life while knowing that his father is sailing about the globe and seeing far away port cities every day.
Psych Name & Description: Return Fire: Jayson's ability allows him to create a transparent wall or a sphere of psychic energy completely enveloping himself and his comrades, protecting them from any incoming projectiles. Anything trapped in this aura of energy such as shrapnel, bullets, even objects caught in the perimeter like mailboxes are thrown back in the direction of the enemy as the wall shatters into lethal shards of energy. On a smaller scale, he can summon smaller spheres that do the same - shatter into shards of energy - but are more like handheld explosives than shields. He can also fashion flatter "land mines"
Current Life Situation: Jayson's father is a sailor in the merchant navy, and as such is rarely seen with his only son and wife back home. His mother is actually a literature teacher at the high school, enough to keep herself and her son afloat in a modest, mid-sized home closer to downtown than he'd like to. Once they lived in a smaller, rural community, before his dad found himself in his current employment.
Quirks: an aspiring musician, though he refuses to be in the school band, mostly because he refuses to march or wear a uniform. He can often be found practicing his drumming, and has more than once wished one of his friends would pick up guitar lessons so that they could form a proper old-style rock band. Due to his hobby he can usually be seen tapping his fingers rhythmically on any surface he pleases. He also is extremely annoyed by things of his being out of place, though he doesn't necessarily require them to be neat.

And he really, REALLY enjoys talking about aliens. Anything to do with them, whether they exist, what they might look like, where they might exist, what they would do if they met us. Really, it's the vastness of the universe that gets him excited. How large it is and how they're only such a very small part of the greater picture. He always did and still wants to be an astronaut, maybe even a pioneer of interplanetary exploration. He wouldn't talk in that kind of way around his friends though, so he takes what's perceived as the coolest thing about the idea and makes it an interest of his.

Sasha Heiman - Achidyemay

Name: Sasha J. Heiman

Personality: Sash is extremely passionate about whatever she does, and can become almost-tunnel-vision focused on that one specific thing. She is also rather lawful and looks for the good in every situation, she is rather optimistic, but is also a realist and knows that there will be obstacles in her path but also firmly believes that through hard work and dedication she can overcome these problems and achieve her dreams. She doesn't believe in fate or luck. She is also rather clean-cut and believes that the biggest problem with the psychic-human relations is prejudice, so she tries to lead-by-example and works hard every day to be a sterling citizen and lives her social life through a "Kill them with kindness." attitude.
Psych Name & Description: Harmony ~ Anyone that Sasha has made physical contact with she can communicate with a form of telepathic communication. She cannot read minds nor tell if someone is lying when they communicate with her this way, but the act is effortless on both sides and she can have various forms of "Chat-rooms" if you will that allow her to talk to specific individuals, or varying-sized groups, which she has trouble keeping track of, so she usually just talks to individual people. Images can also bee projected, but the person has to have their eyes closed to perceive them.
Current Life Situation: When Sasha was first born, her parents dolled on her at all times. They had had the bay room all done up and were so excited that they called everyone twice, the sheer amount of pictures they took in that first year threatened the hard-drive space of the couple at all times. And then she developed her Psych and the Maria and John, her own parents, seemed to come to a very abrupt decision to have another child, to try again more or less. They didn't abandon Sasha, but from that point on, and especially after her younger brother was born, she was a second class citizen in her own home. She grew up in this situation, Cinderella was her Hero and working hard at the cost of a social life and occasionally sleep was the order of the day. She never gave up on herself, never let herself fail, trying constantly to get her parents to recognize her and her talents. To stop seeing her as a lesser person and to start seeing her as their daughter. It hasn't been going well...
Quirks: Likes to write fanfiction for anime, is mildly allergic to peanuts, could eat chocolate on anything and doesn't even mind the taste of bakers chocolate, and has never been swimming.
Other: If this is where we are supposed to put sexuality, Sasha scores a 5 on the Kinsey Scale. She also isn't based on anything yet, which is sort of a first for me.

Seph Equestra - Drakmah

Appearance:

Personality: Seph’s seemingly natural extroverted, bright, and quick witted attitude carries him far, allowing him to thrive in situations where he is comfortable. What this also does is allow him to hide his caring and compassionate nature which at times embarrasses him. He isn't one to be a leader, his secondary lazy nature not making him enough of a go getter to hold that kind of position but what he can do is be supportive, always there when someone he cares about needs him. His words can heal just as much as his power can, something he takes great pride in.

Psych Name & Description: Healing Touch - Seph holds the ability to heal others, though it's not quite as easy as a simple touch in most cases. What makes his ability unique is that he must take a more personal approach to his healing. Because of how the flow of power works within his body he requires skin to skin contact, needing to almost interact with the wound to fix it. The more severe the wound, the longer it takes to heal, large wounds needing near constant attention for it to work. He doesn’t like to use the gift for every wound as he is quite used to hiding it.

Current Life Situation: Seph is an only child and lives with his parents in a large home, his parents having a considerably large amount of money. He never sees them however, as to earn the money they are always working and never around. Seph is a transfer student, only having been around for the last 6 months. He was forced to move because his father took a job a few hours from where they used to live and had to move. While the move wasn't very far, it shredded his social life, forcing him to find a new group. When he first got to Tsuma he had problems finding friends, which troubled him as he had never had this problem. He took to wandering the streets at night, which was when it happened.

He couldn’t bring himself to leave the person he found trapped in their car, and so he exercised his gift in the middle of the night, the white light of his power attracting the attention of a nearby teen. Subsequently Seph was filmed in his healing act and that video was posted on the internet, labeling him a psychic. This was his saving grace however, as it gave him the group of friends he couldn’t obtain on his own.

He has relatively good grades, never have enough initiative to push for more. This is his senior year however and he is happy to hold a B average.

Quirks: Always has a set of headphones on or within a stones throw. While his music tastes are few, what he does like is very diverse, and he enjoys knowing the words to many a song he listens to.

He is always there when someone needs advice, being friendly enough on the outside to seem approachable and caring enough on the inside to help with the problem.
He is straight… ish. Not past platonic relationships with all.

I still want to make them look like actual guns with period accurate ammunition so can I just say they're solidified energy that disappear after use and that Iris has to be intimately familiar with how the weapon works in order to do so?

She won't. She is very, very devoted and clingy to those close to her and that means she's more than willing to bite her tongue and turn a blind eye if that meant keeping the others happy and safe. It just so happened their safety and her Dad ranks higher in her list of priorities than their happiness.

Achid: Hey loser I like the character so far, to answer your question, Psychics are usually discovered to be such at around ages 1-3, depending on the ability. Some have been recorded as being diagnosed in infancy, others as late at 5, however. It really depends on the Psych.

Psych Name & Description: Bolt: able to manipulate small objects in a sort of telekinesis. The difference is, that she super charges the object with energy, covering it in a pink aura, making a powerful weapon mixed with precision, and speed. Can pierce shields due to its size and spees. Controlling multiple bolts can be difficult to control, but takes little out of her.
Current Life Situation:
Alia spent most of her life knowing her power, but hiding it. Her parents warned her of the dangers of coming out as a psychic, but that didn't stop her from using it alone.

She's also played around with love, and around her circle of friends, she had been the one with the most partners. She loved her old circle of friends, and felt that nothing could shake them.

Unfortunately, something did. Her best friend had gotten together with the 'bad boy' like she always did, but this one was by far the most violent. When she broke up, he didn't take it well. He went after her. Alia was with her at the time, and after his mad ramblings, he pulled out a knife.

In response she sought to defend her best friend, flicking her twig in the air, and turning it into a powerful bolt. Before he could move the bolt sliced the sides of his hand. She avoided causing much, and only disarmed him. The brute ran at that poibt, out of fear for the unknown. What she didn't expect, was that her friend would do the same.

She now is publically known in school, as a psychic. The friends she has now found, she is adamant to protect, but despite all of this, her last attempt to get a friend, has left her slightly cold and distant. She sometimes forces a smile just to keep them together, though in the back of her mind all she can ask is, "how long will this last?"

If anyone opposes, she (politefully) listens to concerns, but noone ever seems to have a problem with it.
