Benevolence's Vengeance (MT, OOC, Open)

Background:
At 0423 hours local time, on the 4th of April 2015, the Congreveopian base "Camp Benevolence" in Qiraj was attacked, and the airship stationed there (MAAPS 06 - "Benevolence") attempted to withdraw after sustaining damage on the ground. At 0432, Benevolence crashed after taking critical damage from the Qiraji Air Force. Purposeful radio jamming by the Qiraji military prevented this information from reaching the rest of the world for just over three days, until on the 7th of April, a coalition of nations snuck approximately three hundred special forces soldiers into Camp Benevolence, to discover the true nature of what occurred. After an hour of heavy fighting, and the loss of upwards of eighty percent of his men, the leader of the special forces broke radio silence to inform Congreveopia that there were survivors at the airship's crash site with recordings of the past three days, and the Qiraji military was attempting to wipe out his force to prevent the recordings from being released. Now, it is 0515 hours on the 7th of April. Congreveopia has declared the territory around Camp Benevolence to be under its exclusive control until it has finished rescue operations in the area. Qiraj has denounced this declaration, insisting that it is the preamble to an invasion, and has stated that it will resist any and all Congreveopian efforts militarily. It appears that diplomacy and subtle action have failed, and the situation will immediately deteriorate to all-out war. The only question that remains is what part your nation will play.

Supply Lines:
This is where Qiraj and its allies have a major advantage. Qiraj already has its entire military deployed on account of it, you know, being in Qiraj, where the war is. The allies of Qiraj can bring in units over land through friendly nations around Qiraj, so they may be forced to spend several hours (or possibly even days) driving units to Qiraj, but there is no upper limit to how many they can choose to move, other than the limit of what their logistics can support. A road can handle 100 trucks driving along it just as easily as 10, as long as the army has fuel for the 100 trucks.

Nations in the Congreveopian Coalition, however, do not have the favorable diplomatic relations necessary to let them drive their vehicles right up to the Qiraji border. They are going to need to come over the beaches. If a nation in the Congreveopian Coalition wants to send in more ships (with or without forces aboard), they will post an ORBAT on the OOC, then I'll give them approval to send in those forces, and the time they'll arrive. If they want to send forces by way of the air, though, they will use this:

Image

They will fly whatever transport aircraft they have the distance (at least 3000 kilometers, probably more) from their nation to Kocahisar air base. This is the final air base before one reaches Qiraj that is willing to support* coalition forces. From there, it is 772 kilometers to Qiraj's coast. 50 of those kilometers belong to the nation that Kocahisar air base is in, and can be considered relatively neutral/safe (the nation will not allow attack aircraft from either force to enter). The next 700 kilometers are international waters, and your fleet is somewhere in them (feel free to refuel transport helicopters on your carriers, and such). If the coalition wants supplies to get through, they had better make sure they secure this airspace, because there's nothing but them preventing Qiraj shooting down all of their transports over international waters. The final 22 kilometers (plus however far inland the transport is going) are Qiraji airspace. Needless to say, this is going to be very dangerous airspace until the coalition secures it. If the coalition wants a transport to get through, they will need to make very sure there aren't Qiraji fighters or SAMs lying in wait to take it out.

*Kocahisar air base is under the control of Congreveopia. All coalition nations can base aircraft there.

Rules 'n stuff:
  • Ye shall obey me.
  • Don't godmod, metagame, etc.
    • Don't deploy five aircraft carriers to take out a fishing boat (keep deployments realistic).
    • Don't move a fleet around the world in less time than it takes to boil an egg (keep troops speeds realistic).
  • Don't break site rules.
  • Don't write one liners unless you absolutely need to.
  • Write what time your post is occurring at the top of your post. We will start ignoring your posts if you don't do this.
  • This is open, so there's no official app. It would be appreciated if you gave some sort of ORBAT for your forces, though.

Other stuff (OOC):
  • The previous thread "Benevolence Down" is here. If you don't want to read it, the summary at the top of this post is all a new player is expected to know.
  • If you're not on Qiraj's side, you will be making an amphibious invasion. Bear that in mind.
  • Map of Kocahisar air base.

News, happenings, alerts, etcetera:
  • The recordings of what happened are currently somewhere in the wreck of a GAmeTopian helicopter near camp Benevolence. Qiraj has not posted anything about these, so I'm dictating that he hasn't done anything more about them. Not hinting at anything, Qiraj, but CHECK THE HELICOPTER WRECK. The Congreveopian Armed Forces build strong hard drives
  • Senkaku will be playing as Qiraj
  • I hit the max character limit on this post (60000), so the list of forces is now split across this post and the post prior.

Participating Forces:
Defensive (Qiraji) force:
  • Senkaku wrote:In total, the Armed Forces of the People's Democracy of Qiraj have around 553,000 active duty troops spread throughout their various branches, and the country's Civil Guard (a National Guard-type reservist organization with mostly obsolete equipment) comprises around 112,000 reserves (though these reserves would be of questionable use in an actual conflict).

    Qiraji Red Army

The Qiraji Red Army is consists of 498,000 soldiers, divided into five field armies. The 1st thru 4th Armies each consist of 110,000 troops, generally organized into two corps. Each corps consists of six divisions of 10,000. The 1st thru 3rd Armies have 4 rifle divisions (mixed mechanized and motorized), 1 armored division, and a further armored brigade and an artillery brigade constituting the sixth division. The 4th Army has 3 rifle divisions, 2 armored divisions, and then an armored brigade and an artillery brigade. The Fifth Army consists of the remaining 58,000 soldiers and is also known as the Revolutionary Guard. These troops are considered the Red Army's elite units, and are typically better trained and better equipped than their comrades in the other four armies. The Revolutionary Guard consists of four rifle divisions (three mechanized, one motorized), 1 armored division, and the remaining 8,000 troops are split into two slightly undersized brigades, one of artillery and one of armor.

Most Qiraji infantry are equipped with either a QBZ-95 or an AK-47, and often also a pistol and combat knife. The Revolutionary Guard uses the AK-10x family of assault rifles, often with modifications that have been added on during production under license.

The standard Qiraji tank for the majority of the Army's armored divisions has been the Type 88, imported from China. However, given the updates now in progress, the Red Army is considered by some to not have a standard tank at this point. The 1st Army is now partially equipped with Type 96 tanks, in two of its three armored brigades. The entire 3rd Army has, however, been equipped with Russian T-90 MBTs, while half of the 2nd Army's armored forces are equipped with the newer tank.

The Revolutionary Guard's full armored division is equipped with the indigenous Type 01 Babr. The Babr is considered a fairly advanced MBT, drawing off of influences (and potentially stolen schematics) from the T-90 and the Chinese Type 99. The Guard's smaller armored brigade is equipped with T-90s.

The country's main armored personnel carrier is the Norinco Type 90, which all of its motorized infantry units use. The country's mechanized infantry use mainly the Russian BMP-2 or BMP-3 IFVs.
The Red Army also uses various types of attack helicopters, usually attached to artillery units. The standard helicopter is the Mi-24 Hind, but the 2nd Army's units have been updated with the Ka-50, while the Revolutionary Guard uses the Mi-28 and a small number of American-made Apaches and Chinese Z-10s.

The Red Army's artillery units make use of both Grad and Smerch rocket systems, PLZ-45 self-propelled guns, Sprut-B antitank guns, the Russian 2A65 Msta-B howitzer, the Giatsint howitzer, and Soltam K-6 mortars (as well as a smattering of other weapons systems). Red Army artillery is somewhat less organized in terms of equipment usage than the armored or infantry forces.

In total, Qiraj has around 1200-1500 main battle tanks of varying types (mainly Type 88s), closer to 2,000 armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, several hundred units of self propelled artillery, and a large quantity of MRLS and towed artillery systems. Many of these systems are aging and still in the process of being updated.
The Army is mainly based around major cities and the country's most important economic regions, namely the oil fields and the diamond mines.

    Qiraji Red Navy

The Qiraji Red Navy is a fairly small force, consisting of seven Kilo-class submarines, four Type 041 Yuan-class submarines, and one old Koose-class nuclear submarine (in fact, the Koose-class, while advertised as an indigenous nuclear submarine, is largely based off of the Chinese Type 091 Han, with some modifications- and thus is not particularly effective as nuclear attack submarines go). It also has a flotilla of thirty-seven missile boats, all of them Qiraji-produced modified versions of the Russian Osa missile boat. The Qiraji Red Navy's largest ships are two indigenously-designed Arulai-class guided missile frigates, three Type 053 frigates, one Luda-class destroyer reconfigured for anti-submarine warfare, and one Sovremenny-class destroyer.
The Red Navy also operates a small number of patrol boats along the Syrtij River and on the coast, as well as a few transport and landing craft.
The Red Navy is mainly intended for coastal and littoral defense, and protection of the country's offshore oil platforms and oil tankers.

Organizationally, it is divided into the Submarine Force and the Surface Force, but because it is so small little further unit distinction is made besides the separation of the Surface Force into the 1st Fleet (large surface combatants) and the 2nd Fleet (the Osa boats).

    Qiraji Red Air Force

The Qiraji Red Air Force operates a total of around 1,500 aircraft (primarily fighter aircraft and interceptors). It operates mainly fighter and interceptor aircraft with the goal of protecting Qiraji airspace from foreign intrusions and challenging the air superiority of any invading force. Most of its aircraft are either Soviet or Chinese in origin and are thus aging somewhat. The Air Force also cooperates heavily (more so than the other wings of the military) with the Strategic Missile Forces, which control the country's extensive SAM installations.

The Red Air Force operates a number of MiG-29 Fulcrums and Chengdu J-10s as their main fighter arm, along with several MiG-31 Foxhounds as the nation's main interceptor craft. The Red Air Force also operates a small number of more advanced aircraft (the Sukhoi Su-27 and Su-30 are both in service in small numbers). The Air Force also operates a larger body of older fighter planes and interceptors, mainly MiG-21 Fishbed/Chengu J-7 and MiG-23 Floggers, as well as some MiG-25 Foxbat interceptors.
The Red Air Force also operates several bombers and ground attack aircraft. Qiraj has three Tu-160 Blackjacks as its main strategic bombers, as well as four Tu-16s which support them. However, the Red Air Force's primary mission is not strategic bombing, so these aircraft are rarely used. A number of lighter bombers and ground attack craft form the main arm of the bomber group. These include a number of license-produced, heavily modified aircraft based off of the Ilyushin Il-28, now known as the Type-67 Kabutar (essentially a different aircraft, but with a similar airframe). Other light bombers and attack aircraft in service with the Red Air Force include the Su--24 Fencer, the Su-25 Frogfoot, the Xian JH-7, and the Nanchang Q-5.
The Red Air Force also operates a variety of transport planes, such as the Il-76 and a variant of the Kabutar, and a few KC-135 Stratotankers.

The Red Air Force also operates its own indigenous UAV strike systems, the Type-02 Shahin and the Type-04 Joghd, which are in service only in small numbers and are usually only lightly armed.

    Qiraji Strategic Missile Forces

The Qiraji Strategic Missile Forces are responsible for the country's arsenal of ballistic, cruise, and SAM missiles. It is divided into two sections- the Air Defense Group and the Strategic Tasks Group. The Missile Forces are perhaps the most technically advanced of the country's armed forces, with equipment on par with many Western militaries. The Missile Forces have long been considered a protective "umbrella" for Qiraj, shielding the country while it continues to modernize and strengthen the main body of its armed forces. As such, they should be treated with extreme wariness by any invading forces.

The Air Defense Group operates the country's large arsenal of SAMs and, along with the Air Force, the military radar stations associated with SAM units. They have recently acquired and deployed Russian Buk SAM systems, and have also imported various types of MANPADS (including Mistral and Igla missiles) and the Russian S-300. Most MANPADS systems are deployed in the Red Army, but a number are also kept at various Missile Forces bases.
However, most of the Air Defense Group's missile are indigenous designed and produced. At present, the Air Defense Group has four primary types of missile in operation: the Rubah-6 long range missile, the Mar-7 medium range missile, the Aghrab-6 short range missile, and the Kaftar-2 MANPADS system. All four systems are modern, top of the line air defense missiles, and used alongside weapons like the Buk, the Mistral, the Igla, and the S-300 they make the Air Defense Group a formidable roadblock to gaining air superiority in the skies over Qiraj. All three larger missile systems are road mobile supersonic weapons, with autonomous maneuvering and countermeasures capabilities and semi-stealth characteristics.

The Strategic Tasks Group operates the country's cruise missiles and ballistic missiles, both of which it has large stockpiles. These weapons include foreign missiles, ranging from older Scuds and Chinese Silkworm cruise missiles to more modern Iskander tactical ballistic systems (to name a few- there are many). As Qiraj does possess some chemical and biological weapons, it still maintains a small number of chemical and biological warhead missiles (largely older weapons such as the Scud or the Silkworm).
However, the Strategic Tasks Group has also developed and built up a large stockpile of native-designed missiles, often taking influences from (or stealing technology from) other nations.
Its main native ballistic missiles (though not its only ones) are the Soliryn series. Soliryn-1 and Soliryn-2 ballistic missiles have been largely phased out or put in storage, but Soliryn-3, Soliryn-4, and Soliryn-5 rockets are in active use and production by the Strategic Tasks Group. In theory, any of the Soliryn series could be fitted with nuclear warheads- the ones in service are already fitted with MIRVs, though they carry conventional warheads.

The Soliryn-3 is a long range ballistic missile that has been in service since 1999. Being older, it has a wider CEP, and is thus mainly used to target enemy airbases or static enemy positions (or even cities). It is liquid-fueled and thus takes some time to fuel and prepare for launch. The Soliryn-4, coming into service in 2006, can be used to attack more mobile enemy forces such as armies maneuvering in the field or specific units or headquarters. It also carries a larger payload and more MIRVs. It is the first solid-fueled ballistic missile indigenously produced by Qiraj, and also the first Qiraji ballistic missile to be road-mobile.

The Soliryn-5 only was introduced three years ago, in 2012. It uses a wide range of advanced sensor systems to continuously update its MIRVs and correct their targeting, allowing it to strike even at enemy ships on the move. Some of its lead designers and analysts who have studied it claim that it could even be used to hit specific tagged vehicles such as a specific tank. It is solid fueled and the Soliryn-5A, a special variant, can even be fired from several of the Red Navy's ships and submarines, including the Koose, one of the Red Navy's Kilo boats, both Arulai-class vessels, and several modified Osa-class missile boats. The Soliryn-5 thus allows Qiraj to fire ballistic missiles from fixed silos, road-mobile launchers, or naval assets. The Soliryn-5B is rumored to have also been developed to allow the missile and launch system to be put into a shipping container, for concealment. Soliryn-5 MIRVs are more similar to hypersonic glide vehicles, capable of maneuvering and using additional rocket thrusters to launch a final "sprint" towards their target. Soliryn-5s will pose a massive threat and challenge to any alliance invasion fleet, and their mobility and concealment means neutralizing them could be quite difficult.

In addition to the Soliryn series, the STG also operates the shorter-range Malak series of ballistic missiles, which can be considered either tactical ballistic missiles or SRBMs. The Malak-1 and Malak-2 could even constitute long range rocket artillery, while the Malak-3 and Malak-3A (also called the Malak-4) have somewhat longer ranges. None of the Malak series are equipped with MIRVs, and are fired either from ships, submarines, or mobile launchers. The Malak-3A may have the capacity to hit enemy ships but is not as accurate as the Soliryn-5, and carries a smaller payload. As a smaller weapon, it may also be concealed more easily than the larger Soliryns.

The STG operates one line of native designed cruise missiles, the Elsen series. These are complemented by a wide range of foreign cruise missiles, such as the Klub or the older Silkworm. Some of the Elsen series are used by the Red Navy, in addition to foreign missiles. The Elsen-11 and Elsen-12 are subsonic short-range missiles, launchable from land, sea, or sky, intended for land and sea attack, respectively, and are being phased out in favor of the Elsen-16. Most Elsen missiles are supersonic. The Elsen-13 is a medium-range multirole supersonic missile, also capable of being fired by aircraft, ships, or land-based systems, and forms a significant portion of the existing Elsen arsenal. The Elsen-13A is designed to be fired from submarines, specifically being capable of being fired by the Red Navy's Yuan-class boats through their torpedo tubes. The Elsen-13B is simply a modification of the original, equipping it with submunitions. The Elsen-14 is a specifically air-launched long range supersonic anti-ship missile, designed to attack and neutralize enemy capital ships with its unusually large payload. The Elsen-14A is a land-launched variant intended for coastal defense, and the Elsen-14B is fitted with a large number of submunitions to strike at smaller targets. The Elsen-15 is a ship-to-ship supersonic long-range attack missile, which can be fired from any of the Yuan or Kilo class boats or the Koose. The Elsen-16 is one of the newest missiles in service with the STG, incorporating radar-absorbing material and designed to replace the Elsen-12 and Elsen-13 as a short-range subsonic multirole weapon. It also fills some stealth roles, as it is designed to fly extremely low and have a very small radar profile. The Elsen-17 is sort of its "big brother", a supersonic missile with a longer range and larger payload, and the Elsen-17A, a variant of it, is equipped with advanced and variable submunitions to target a variety of enemy forces.

This alright?

SINGLE MAN SUITS (Predator-Class):
These suits are very much like the Titan-class except much smaller. The Predator-class is only susceptible to missiles and powerful explosives. The predator class are armed with a powerful high-trajectory cannon mounted on the back and the hands hold a very powerful machine gun that has shells large enough to decimate lightly-armed vehicles and APCs. There is a cockpit with a single seat that also has a machine gun in the back and a fire extinguisher for safety.
Specifications:
Armour: Titanium-aluminium alloy, thick bulletproof glass,
Weapons (auxiliary): High-trajectory large-shell cannon
Weapons (hand-held): Heavy large shell machine gun
Weapons (Cockpit): M16 machine gun
Length: 1 metre
Width: 0.75 metres
Height: 2.5 metres

Couple questions:
  • I assume this is a normal biped design (2 arms, 2 legs), and it moves by walking?
  • Could you give me numbers for the size of the guns? For example, "the machine guns are 12.7mm, and the cannon on the back is a 60mm mortar".
  • Could you tell me the freedom of the cannon on the back? How far can it pitch down? Can it pivot horizontally independent of the torso? How far?
  • Can it fire the cannon on the back while moving? How much accuracy is lost compared to standing still?
  • How much does the entire thing weigh?
  • How much autonomy does it have? (Meaning: How far can it travel on a full tank of gas?)
  • What sort of armor protection does it have on the front torso, rear torso, arms, and legs. You can tell me either in RHAe (e.g. "20 mm RHAe on the front torso"), or in what caliber of bullets it will resist (e.g. "it will withstand 7.62mm rounds on the arms, but will be penetrated by 12.7mm rounds striking at up to 50 degrees").

Sorry slight mistake the cannon is only for the PMT version I have no use for it now. The machine gun/ autocannon is of a calibre 25mm. Critical points such as joints and glass can withstand 12.7mm bullets but continuous punishment will penetrate it however the rest of the machine (generally) will be penetrated by 25mm shells or higher. Their ammo is fed from a large container on their back. A few of them have an under-barrel flamethrower or bayonet. It can fire the weapon while moving however they are mainly stationary machines with a torso that can rotate 360 degrees so it stands still and fires mostly. Any more information?

On a different note I have two requests: One, could you avoid using time and just use dates because otherwise it will just get confusing. And two could you add to the map unspecistan controlled military bases or places of interest that could be battled over for extra influence in an area, plus I would like to find out were exactly my escaped troops are.

Okay, a few more questions, if you don't mind:
  • Weight?
  • Autonomy (how far can it travel without refueling)?
  • How big is the mech's contact patch (the area of the soles of its feet).
  • How fast can it travel at top speed?

As for the other things, I'll work on the Unspecistani military bases at some point. For now, I want to leave it open to the person who takes control of Unspecstan to organise their forces however they want. With regard to time, tracking time down to minute-resolution is vital to understand what's going on. If this were a massive and slow-moving conflict like world war one in Europe, then I'd be fine with only paying attention to time with day-resolution, but here ten minutes can be the difference between an army winning or losing a battle. It's if we don't track time that precisely that things get confusing. Imagine this exchange:

"My tank company moves to attack the village, with infantry support."

"We counterattack with Mi-24s."

Already, there are unanswered questions. Did the tanks reach the village before the Mi-24s arrived? Have the infantry had time to dig in in buildings and unload AA launchers? Are the tanks concealed between houses or out in the open desert? The battle could be won or lost based on when the Mi-24s arrive, but without people posting times, nobody knows when that is.

Contact Patch: 1ft 6in * 1ft 6in
Weight: 12.5 metric tons (with weapons, pilot and casamir armour)
Speed: 11 kph
Autonomy: Basically it is battery powered with a fuel backup which is kind of weird but it works well as it moves very little. It will last a couple of days on without moving however at constant movement it can go for about 4/5 hours (80 kilometres). However I will transport them in various ways (wink wink nudge nudge) so that is not an issue. They will usually have spare batteries and fuel where they are camped however if on the offensive they might bring their own. The mech has two ways of traveling one is simply walking the other is striding by using a secondary joint above the knee allowing it to allow it to stride further and travel slightly faster while keeping its aim fairly level.

140 kg is way too light for the armor you're discussing. You're talking about taking the protection of a BMP-3, making it omnidirectional, placing it on a vehicle that's lighter than a motorcycle, and doing so without being able to use weight-saving techniques like sloped armor. I think you should be at least 20 tons, but probably more in the 30-50 region.

Batteries would just add to the weight inexcusably. Hydrocarbons store energy 63 times better than batteries. If you can afford the noise and space of a gasoline engine, you should just use hydrocarbons.

Also, just curious, but at that top speed, is it a walking (one foot is on the ground at all times) or running (both feet will be off the ground sometimes) motion. I'd advise you stick with walking, because the contact patch is already going to be small for the weight, so you want to minimise ground pressure as much a possible, and running is going to increase it significantly.

Sorry I made several mistakes. The weight thing I have no clue why I did that maybe I meant that I would have to deduct 140 kg for the weapon and ammo but I don't know. I'll edit the original post.

Okay, you're still too light at 1 metric ton. That's about half of a normal US family car's weight. As I said, I really can't see this being less than 20 short tons at absolute minimum armor, fuel, ammo, comfort, etc.

ok there you go. I only made that up quickly on a whim it makes little difference to me. There is no way it will weigh as much as an f-25, even 12 metric tons is still more than a light assault vehicle. These mechs are light and small compared to others. The heaviest part will be the pilot and possibly the glass. Aluminium and titanium alloy is also very light so it will shed more weight. It will have no more equipment other than its gun and a fire extinguisher than an Audi I8. Therefore even 12 metric tons is excessive itself.

20 short tons minimum does not mean I will accept 13.7 short tons. Really I'm on the fence about accepting 20, but I definitely won't go lower.

Are we no longer using my map as a reference? I had Unspecistan having it's ocean on the eastern border.

Would you mind posting a Unspecsitan and make some movements IC. Right now we're at the point to where troops are about to make landfall. Counteractions I can recommend would be coalition forces digging in a repelling the advance, having Unspeci forces fall back due to Hypinsar's troops evacuating, or allowing fire support from the naval vessel of whoever posted that last (yes, I'm too lazy to look up names :p)

Your map was nice, but I needed a good quality map of Unspecistan that fit the terrain and scale, and there wasn't a real life nation that worked with only an east coast. Sorry.

I'm still looking for someone to play Unspecistan because I don't want to be both sides of the war. I could play Unspecistan instead of Congreveopia/Hale Isles if you guys want to start this sooner (vote on it in the new poll). I'd be good with that, as long as you don't mind the flotilla from the Hale Isles disappearing because of reasons right at the start of the war.

So I'm going to try and make an ORBAT here. I'm changing my forces however slightly. I'm sending in another 75 Öinenhaukat to replenish the casualties.

1st Finnish Expeditionary Force-Major General Harju (Fort Häyä, NFR)-FNS Voitto carrier group- Invasion of Unspecistan
3rd Coastal Marine Division (NFR) - FNS Voitto carrier group - For use of standard combat ops in the AO
7th Armored Brigade (NFR) -FNS Voitto carrier group - Provide direct support for dismounted units in standard combat ops in the AO
2nd Naval Aircraft Wing (NFR) - FNS Voitto carrier group - Provide CAS for land based operations in the AO
1st Coastal Marine Logistical Unit (NFR) - FNS Voitto carrier group - Provide logistical support for combat units in the AO
FNS Voitto Carrier Group (NFR) - FNS Voitto carrier group - Transport Expeditionary Force, provide CAS from the Nimitz Class aircraft carrier FNS Voitto, and act as the headquarters for the Expeditionary Force until a strong foothold can be made in the region

Miscellaneous Force - Major General Harju (Fort Häyä, NFR) - FNS Voitto carrier group - Covert actions in the region
75 Öinenhaukat NFR - FNS Voitto carrier group - Reinforce existing Spec Op element in the AO; Continue use of non-standard combat ops in the AO

If you're curious to see what my men are equipped with, here's a list of anything you'll need to know

Coastal Marines

This is about the right size, yes. For the most part, this is a fantastic list. I'd like to hear a bit more about what the "Several dozen amphibious assault craft along with supply ships" are. Check out this wikipedia page if you're having trouble finding a good place to look for the sort of ships you're talking about. In general, though, really nice work.

Nice work. A few minor points: I'd like to hear more about the Ames-class carrier. Do you have a factbook I can go to, or an equivalent real-world carrier I can look up? Also, you might want a dedicated amphibious warfare ship there, so that you can bring a few more troops (we will be facing the entire Unspecistani army) if the Ames-class carrier isn't one. The wikipedia page I pointed NFR to is a good place for finding one that suits your purposes.

Hypsinar wrote:ok there you go.

What's an F-25?

Assuming you're talking about an F-22 or an F-35, then that's the wrong metric to be using, because airplanes aren't built to resist 20mm autocannon rounds. The heaviest part of the mech will be the armor not the pilot, because even using the best composites, it's hard to stop a 12.7mm round striking perpendicular to your armor, and you will need heavy armor all across the mech to take that fire. That armor in turn increases the size of the engine and hydraulics, which increases fuel needed, which increases weight, and so on. Audi I8s aren't armored to resist machine gun fire, BMP-3s are. You should be looking at the weight of a BMP-3, not an Audi I8.

Armor isn't my specialty, though. I'll take this over to NS realisim to check that I'm in the right range of weight.

EDIT: Yeah, NS realism says 25 short tons sounds about right, but also that the cockpit is going to be pretty cramped if the mech is that small.

It's basically just a Gerald R Ford aircraft carrier - I added a tag to the ORBAT for clarification. I'll look through the wikipedia page and sprinkle some of those bad boys in there.

Checking in. ORBAT-wise, I will probably commit a flight of attack choppers and possibly a cruiser for support. This means that I will be playing a limited role on the ground, and mostly be backup and support for those who need it.

Yeah, I don't really think they can be practical in MT. It's probably for the best to not use them.

Naval Reinforcements
  • 2 x Xenon-class Aircraft Carriers [Basically a Nimitz-class however slightly modified]
  • 8 x Hyperion-class Heavy Destroyers
  • 16 x Cyclone-class Patrol ships
  • 22 x LCU mk10

Strike Force Imperialis
  • 12 x Prometheus 2 helicopters [basically a Chinook]
  • 16 x Dragonfly Mk II helicopters
  • 10 x reprimand-class helicopters [apache]
  • 500 x Persevantes marines
  • 150 x Martinique Guards

Defensive Reinforcement Group Alpha
  • 1050 x Proleium Frates infantry
  • 800 x Persevantes infantry
  • 400 x Martinique Guards
  • 3 x M1 alpha decimation tanks [m1 abrams]
  • 7 x m1 beta decimation tanks [challenger 2]
  • 50 x Omega 7 anti-infantry vehicle
  • 225 x M783 Anvil Armoured Personnel Carrier

Xenon carriers capacity:
  • 35 reprimand-class attack helicopters
  • 50 dragonfly Mk II helicopters
  • 12 Prometheus 2 transport helicopters
  • 40 Imrahim fighter jets
  • 5 Z-10 Piercer supersonic bombers

Is it possible if I can have some troops enter from the northern border above Camp Benevolence it would help greatly with movement of troops. Also it is very likely that Unspecistan would be allies with at least one if its neighbours and if I am allied with Unspecistan surely an arrangement could be made without too much arm-bending.

Oh absolutely. You can share a border with Unspecistan, or pick a border to bring troops in through. It's only the people fighting Unspecistan that have to launch an amphibious invasion.
