Happy Independence Day to all true blooded Muricans today! Today is the day where we forget all our grievances with the US and each other and come to together to celebrate the birthday of Murica.

Just leaving this link to show that while yes, we celebrate the anniversary of American Independence with large amount of alcohol, beef, and fireworks, there is a very real threat. I, as well as law enforcement authorities across the country, encourage everyone to stay safe, stay vigilant, and if you see any suspicious activity, report it immediately to local authorities.

Am I the only one that never got excited about Indepednence Day?

The fireworks are cool I suppose, though everything else isn't that great. I also hate hot dogs.

you realize like 30 people got killed last week right (i guess they were mostly not americans so they do not count)

Plus, even factoring in everything else, the odds of you dying in a terrorist attack is extremely slim. You are probably more likely to be killed by vacuum cleaner.

I'm also put off by the instinctual, nationalistic pride the 4th of July spreads about. I'm happy I wasn't born in some shithole in the Middle East and all, but it's just that. Less of a "I was born in America, fuck yeah!" and a lot more of "thank god I wasn't born in North Korea or Saudi Arabia."
