First off, I support equality between males and females and believe that both parties should be equal in marriage and all other things.

But there are still some people who believe that women should always be submissive to men and wives should always do what their husband says regardless if they want to or not. Most of these people who have this belief are chauvinist males who often grew up in a conservative household. However, I have known a few females who believe that they should always be subservient to men.

Aside from religion, another common justification for this sexist belief is that men should have power over women simply because they are stronger and it is how society has been run.

So what is your opinion?

But seriously, outside of the religiously demented, are there people who ascribe to this? Don't get me wrong, my wife is, essentially, a homemaker. By choice. And she's had jobs in the past, but it's just more convenient for all of us in our specific situation. She wants very much to be a good mother, and she personally defines this as being able to spend as much time with our future child as is possible. If finances preclude that option, she has no issue with getting another job herself if my work can't fully support it.

And I support her, fiscally and emotionally.
