With the approaching presidential election in Sunrisia, the sitting president of the country – Edward Léker has announced that he would not be running for office for yet another term in the upcoming election and instead was willing to pass a torch to another candidate, until the day when he wishes to run for office again. President Edward Léker has said that he believes that the people of Sunrisia deserve diversity in their leadership and despite being a national favorite, serving 3 terms and likely having a chance to be reelected again, should he run for office, the current leader has stated that he believes it is time to allow other talented and inspired candidates to take the position and bring leave their own legacy to Sunrisia. President Léker personally wished good luck to each and every single candidate running for office this year, concluding with a classical phrase – “may the best man or woman win.”
1) Conservative Party: Áces Vollêr
A candidate from the right-wing Conservative Party of Sunrisia (CPS). Generally focuses on devoting much more attention to securing Sunrisia’s culture, traditions and national, as well as ideological values. Promotes further development and preservation of the basic, universally-recognized human rights, with exception to such controversial topics as legalization of the same-sex marriage and support to pro-choice side of the abortion debate. Regarding economy, believes that both the private and the public sector should play an equal role. Views wealth gaps as a natural occurrence, believing that every citizen earns a wage based on how much work he or she puts in.
2) Democratic Socialist Party: Rellȃs Famél
A candidate from the left-wing Democratic Socialist Party of Sunrisia (DSPS). General focus is on the further development of the country’s welfare system and promotion of equal opportunity for everyone to succeed. Promotes further development of human rights, especially focusing on blurring the vivid differences between social classes, highly advocating an even greater gender equality and providing an equivalent opportunity for immigrants to achieve as much as the core community in the country (Sunrisians). Open to the idea of legalizing same-sex marriage, while staying neutral on the topic of abortion. Also believes that established long-running government policy of battling all poverty in Sunrisia should be pushed even further, with a more intense encouragement all the capable citizens to work and finding jobs for the part of the population leaning towards the a poverty line. Believes that a balanced economy between public and private sector should be preserved.
3) Liberal Democrat Party: Sȋllán Gérral
A candidate from the right-wing Liberal Democrat Party of Sunrisia (LDPS). General focus is the promotion of civil rights and political freedoms for every citizen of Sunrisia. Focuses on the development of the idea of separation of powers, making sure that government sectors work only in their own fields, without breaching or infiltrating each other’s functions. Promotes individualism with the idea that the state must serve the person and not the person to the state. Supports equality between all groups – social, religious, ideological, sexual, age, etc. Speaks out for the liberalization of the economy and opening of new markets, however, with exception to those that might impose health hazards or damage the environment. Encourages active international cooperation and promotion of the same values abroad.
4) Democratic Party: Tôben Stáller
A candidate from the center-right Democratic Party of Sunrisia (DPS). Promotes the idea of pushing direct or inclusive democracy to its full potential as much as possible. Promotes equal rights for all living beings. Speaks out for equality between social, religious, ideological classes, as well as genders, age groups and sexual groups. Open to the idea of legalizing same-sex marriage and devoting more attention on finding the best solution for the abortion debate. Speaks out for the idea of preservation of animal rights and securing the environment. Believes that every citizen of Sunrisia should be provided with an equal opportunity to achieve his or her dreams. Promotes balanced economy with both private and public sector playing equally important roles. Supports a more vast international cooperation and interaction with the outside world.
5) Liberal Party: Decér Sȃmer
A candidate from the Liberal Party of Sunrisia (LPS). General focus is on the development of all rights, including human rights, animal rights and even plant rights. More extensively, promotes equality between all groups, including ideological movements, social classes, religious groups, sexual minorities, genders, age groups and many more. Strongly speaks out for the legalization of same-sex marriage and promotes the pro-choice view in the controversial abortion debate. Encourages a more active foreign policy, promoting international cooperation in creating a better world by popularizing the same cherished values. Also, speaks out for the expansion of the country’s economy to new horizons by establishing new markets, including legalization of some that had previously been outlawed.
6) Progressivist Party: Cîréll Liccén
A candidate from the Progressivist Party of Sunrisia (PPS). Believes that the current social terms should remain being preserved at the same traditional model, with elements from left-wing and right-wing ideologies, while devoting much more attention to progress in such fields as science, medicine, ecology, etc. Believes that a high-level international cooperation is required in order to develop mutual discoveries in these fields with foreign partners. Speaks out for a powerful economy, which should be developed with an active cooperation between the private and public sector.
