It has been a hundred years since the golden age. Since the age of discovery, the age of hope, the age of peace. Total world peace then, no hatred, no persecution. Any ailment could be cured, any life could last an eternity, any man live his life's dream. The year is 2187, and those times are gone. This is the age of the warlord, the corrupt empire, the savage killer. Since those times of long summers, the galaxy has been stagnant. No new advancements have been made, but many have been lost to time. The greatness of man, it's stellar achievements and grand machines now lay in ruins, forgotten and buried. The Interstellar Federation of Volkstrad teeters on the brink of collapse. The ever more corrupt system stamps out an insurrection almost every week, giving rise to another. No world is without an armed engagement to seek independence from the stagnant empire. At the same time, no federal world is without the pounding iron claw of its overlord. The State of Vukmire is in shambles, desperately seeking medical supplies that are so rare, fighting against the harshness of the decaying, harsh world of Mars. It's corporations spit in the face of their leaders as they amass their profits. The Diaz Regime of Badassistanian too stands on its last legs, standing over the world after a century of rule. The once utopia of the Union of Socialist Puterrepubliks too stands, suffering as its inventions decay before it. Many other peoples and states are too on the brink of catastrophy, looking forth into the maw of death itself as it closes its jaws around their screaming forms.

All it took was a simple, single defect. A defect that had been planned out, but ultimately acted as a virus too adaptable to be warded off.

Human nature, of course. It'd plagued mankind (or in the case of the USP, womankind) from the start, and even in an era of such great technology ability, the fatal flaw in the human species doggedly stalked in the shadows. No one knew how it'd began.. perhaps some flaw that had been written from the start; maybe the constant scapegoat, the Stasi.. but once the empathy Chip was terminated, people stopped asking why, and started asking how. A nation of humanitarians degenerated into a nation of psychopaths.. and among the most dangerous ones in the universe. With the combination of selective empathy and high IQs, the USP tore itself apart with plots and schemes, becoming an Orwellian police state that not even Lilya Alkaev could've dreamed of at the prime of her life. War had torn it apart, individuals ruthlessly pursuing their own goals, not for the good of socialism, as had been the norm for hundreds of years, but their own hedonism.

Vukmire finds itself constantly bartering with the corporations that now control most of the nation in the "Free world" pact that allows them to have government positions and state their opinion on laws and taxes. As for the people of Vukmire. They are dying and starving due to the industry's constant destruction of land and property. The government regime vastly improved under Saph Cuvlen and his compact physical storage disk but things started to look downhill as the nation started to lose its medical supplies to constant pollution and dissolution of Healthcare.

One final spark ignites the framework holding the fragile USP together.. 'the changing.' As part of an unexpected result of a government science lab being damaged in shelling, a bizarre genetic strain was unleashed upon the populace; fundamentally upsetting the gender balance in the USP. It creates a 'new type of human,' a person who is woman in every way except the addition of male genitalia, and the ability to procreate, creating more women. The tolerance and harmony binding together Soyuza society collapses; and soon clashes occur in the streets themselves between groups of various interests.

The Interstellar Federation of Volkstrad stands now upon the doorway. The doorway to destruction. New insurrections crop up and are cut down as quickly as possible, crushed under the heel of the Volkstradi People's Army. In the state of Volkstrad, there are no individuals. There are only the expendable masses, waiting to be sent to their demise. In the last century, the Federation had become corrupt. All the power had gone to the Volkboard, using their power for their own needs and desires. Planets are kept through pure martial force, kept in line by State Security and the VPA. To question the actions of the government is blasphemy, and as heretics, those who resist its whims are slain with utmost brutality and contempt. The death of a few is nothing to them and the fallen are forgotten soon after. Even in this state of fear and violence, the people rise up to claim independence for their worlds from their Terran masters, to overthrow them and create a new, free state. Such revolutionaries are common, but they all meet their ends soon after. Still, the resistance against the corrupt empire grows ever stronger, more rebels appearing every day. The fate of the federation is in question, and the answer shall come to light soon enough.

[Badassistanian]

In the year 1930, Antonio Diaz the first lead the socialist rebellion against the fascist rule of the Gonzales family. The reveloution ended in a triumphant victory for Diaz and from there he went on the found the Socialist Dictatorship of Badassistan in which over the next 100 years would expand to reach from the northern borders of Mexico to the southern most tip of the Antartic Penninsula. The exodus of the USP would be the fall of the first Diaz regime as the first Badassistan republic was founded however it fell almost as quickly as it came as the second Diaz regime was founded, led by Antonio the sixth. The age of space exploration and technology began to flourish as the second Diaz regime colonized the Keplar system and eventually the stars. Four generations later the 50 year old dictator Jose Diaz stands as the great great grandchild of Antonio the 6th and the current dictator of Badassistan. Despite his best efforts the Kepler system had fallen into complete anarchy as planets continue to rebel and break free from the union. Only time would tell if Jose would be able to return order to the galaxy.

The USP officially dissolves as the Changing spreads through the populace. Despite this, segments of the population remain unaffected by this, or the defective empathetic section of the Chip. As groups with polarized interests combat with power, it seems only a matter of time before a titanic full-scale civil war erupts.

The Grasp stayed a perfectly normal structured society, in it's own definition. Billions and billions of droids were apart of their numbers, making change barely happen. They didn't grow much, droids always flooded onto ships, teeming with them. Satori had lived a long while with Lilya, happy and free, enjoying seeing her kids grow. Her comrade as a child, Vriska, is a different case. Her mother, Aranea, was an "admiral" of a private military led by her own friend. She was 5 when she was sent to a military camp led by her father, where she lived most of her child life, till she graduated, and banished him. Years passed, and she and her posse came across a man with many ideas: Stennis. As she was about 80 now (around 2050's), she contracted him to make her child. This went well, until the Grasp formed. Production was delayed, and her brain was eventually jarred to keep her living longer. Eventually, Stennis got the Grasp leaders to work on a project to "repopulate the USP homeland." Aranea's child came out out that, and Vriska was born. Many years later, Aranea had her kidnapped, placed on a surgical table, and brains were swapped, Vriska fully awake for it all. She used her new body to reclaim Vriska's friendship with Satori, living with her, watching her. Until chaos broke out.

Present times: Aranea is ready to strike now.

Today the same old news spreads across Volkstrad. "New Insurrectionist Groups on Eisenreich, Impadurire, and Zvezdoma! Insurrections crushed on Okosopky and Rukavitsa!". Always the same. It's hardly news anymore to the people of Volkstrad. Yet, several very successful factions stand out. The news never reports on them, to create the illusion of total strength, yet it is known that there are at least four highly successful interstellar insurrectionist groups. They are spoken of behind closed doors and in whispers, but such rumors carry the spark of hope clutched within.

How and why? Where now the most asked question. How'd it get so bad? Why'd we let it get so far? How could it come to this? Why are we so different?

It started as a simple procedure, one that could temporarily increase mans natural cunning, sight, and awareness, but somehow someway it all went wrong. It was a simple test, marrying feline and human DNA to test the result, maybe a machine overheated, or cog fell loose, but as soon as the mixture reached 85% a explosion happened. The mixture went through the air like a virus, then spread through neighboring areas. At first it seemed this was just a small obstacle in the path of success, the people who were infected seemed to have acquired the desired effects, and more.

This happened many years ago, those people, now dubbed Citizens Zero, have moved through nation, reproducing, spreading it. The children turned out different, their ears pointed and furry, nails sharp enough to cut steal, sight, hearing, speed all increased, and teeth as sharp as the devils tongue. At first a curious nation accepted them, embraced them as one, but all too soon the "Neko's" as they were nicknamed increased in numbers. Soon they nearly put numbered the north, taking valuable work, food the very livelihood the "pure-bloods" had fought desperately to attain.

The camps were a obvious solution, places, cities they would kept in for the protection of the people, the children. It seemed like it worked, and for many years it seemed a forced peace was set in stone, a line where they live, and where we live as two species now tried to live as one. That was until the riots occurred,"See us as equals." The Neko's called out, riots occurring all through the camps. It came ahead at Camp Misuse. The riot got too great, and the guards forced to shoot. 45,000 of a population of 120,000 were shot, a massacre, the starting blocks to genocide.

And the starting call to war, as the Neko's began lashing out. Togeria is now being torn at the foundation, as the call revolution rings through the air.

A phenomena known as neo-nationalism spreads among populations within the USP, resurrecting old nationalist sentiments, based on tracing back family lineage, or just modern cultural association. At the same time, the new "Changed" people side with the government, as the Soyuza government continues to pledge its support of equality for all. Soyuza troops are deployed to keep the peace in the streets, although conflict between the Changed and the non-changed, between communists and capitalists, between operational and defective Chips, continues to escalate day by day. It remains to be seen what clear factions will form, but it's clear divides are growing in Soyuza society that are too wide to heal.

Early morning, Longreach.

Usual slew of robots marching through, Satori scanning through all her data. The damn chip defect is really pissing her off. She calls Lilya just to check on her often, see how it's at back "home."

Lilya answers the phone; her voice sounding tired and worn. She flinches at the sound of an explosion; probably another home-made bomb..

Riots and protest increase, the "Misu Massacre" has rallied the rage of the new-bloods, becoming increasingly violent with each action. Some claiming for justice and even attacking police forces while the opposite occurs down south, a group known as the Purest emerging, performing terror attacks on the Neko populace.

It calls for a return to the order of tsarist times, decrying the moral openness that has allowed the country to fall apart. It has an explicitly anti-Changed stance, and often carries out raids on Changed homes. The government institutes martial law to try and calm the situation.

"Yikes... So, uh, hey Lil...What's happening back home?" She swipes at her small tablet, landing on surveillance, seeing that Vriska has came into the city with unknown foreigners.

Lilya sighs. "Everything.. it's all fallen apart.. everything I worked for, everything my mother worked for.." Her voice sounds hoarse with crying.

Today a massive upheaval occurred. The rebel group known as the United Revolutionary Front captured a major broadcast relay and began to send revolutionary messages all across the empire. Suddenly, the people began to rise up, joining several rebel groups to fight. They ran through the streets, whatever weapons they could find or make in hand, raised to the sky. Blockades were set up as gunships flew overhead and began to fire on the crowds, but they swarmed over VPA positions and moved across their respective worlds, taking territory by storm. Loyalist forces set up more defensive positions and Order: Armatus Incursio was given. Upon the most important manufacturing worlds and upon Terra, Iron Fortresses were dropped from the sky onto rebel forces, crushing them. Where they were dropped, the people ran in fear, for such awe-inspiring war machines were revered as almost holy artifacts of the old world. Yet even with this, the revolution progressed further, many people fleeing their worlds in fear for their lives.

The Kepler system quickly erupts into conflict as what seems like thousands of rebel groups take up arms to fight the union and the union answers with large professional armies and navy's that are equipped with the best gear available however the rebel groups and the will of the people far out number the unions forces. Battles happen throughout all corners of the system, many leaving the smell of death behind them. Thousands even millions lie dead when the fog of war lifts but yet the conflict rages on.


Meanwhile the great dictator Maria Diaz, daughter of Antonio and Aki Diaz, lays ill to new disease that has killed many in the past months. Many of the unions people hope for her health to return but even she has admited that her time has come.

A group forms in southern Togeria known as Neko Protecion Front(NPF). Their goal to protect the rights of every Neko in Togeria, a few days later the first clash occurs between the Purest and NPF, a violent affair that last 4days and only shows the weakness of failing Togerian government.

Upon the industrial world of Glavata, the URF has secured the vast majority of the planet, fighting against Loyalist forces and another rebel force that has begun to appear throughout the federation. The Independent Insurrectionist Coalition, which seeks to grant independence to every world that was ruled by the federation. Loyalist forces hold their ground around the capital district of the planet, immediately requesting heavy support.

The USP declares support for the NPF, though it is unable to provide concrete support. Very little news leaves the USP.. whether this reflects positive preoccupation or all-out war, it remains to be seen. Thousands of refugees leave each day, using whatever means is available.

[Vukmire]

In Vukmire terrorists or extremists known as The United Peoples has taken action against the government in Vukmire as well as the dominant industry. The attacks of this group has been focused on non essential buildings such as toy factories or brothels where some go to relieve their stress. The group uses retired gear and weapons but uses them effectively and to their full potential. The leader of the group is unknown but any info leading on him is absolutely needed.

"Could always send in an armed grouping. They could easily defend it from anything trying to board." She watches as Vriska gets closer. She checks her personal secondary tablet, checking the mementos from another time. "You got that disease spreading the USP?"
