Map: Coming soon.
The year is 1940. The outbreak of war in September 1939 caught everyone by storm after a false hope of peace after the Munich Agreement in 1938. Poland fell quickly to the Germans and Soviets, falling in just a month's time. A titanic effort is about to be begun by the nations of the world against each other. All-new weapons and tools of war will be invented in a never before seen display of destruction, sucking in nations that had tried so hard to get out of it. The conflict will shape the globe for years to come after. You will take command of a nation in this time period. Whether or not you participate in this world war or not is up to you.
The outcome of this war remains to be seen, if the Soviet Union is pummeled into a bloody pulp or if the British surrender to the Axis. Anything could happen.
Rassenburg, Rhineland
Day of Case Yellow
The nation of the Rhineland had reluctantly declared war on Germany after their invasion of Poland in September 1939. Most military leaders knew that the Rhenish military would never have, in any case, been able to hold off the far superior German Army for any sustained period of time. But for the sake of morale, they kept quiet and didn't make their objections heard. In the war room underneath the city itself, people were examining the situation on large maps and organizing a hasty defense of the nation.
Prime Minister Schmitt and General Reinhard Kantler were particularly oblivious to the bad situation the Rhine was in at this point and tried to commit all of their forces on the border. Brigadiers Becker and Fleisher did not agree with this approach, and they argued for hours inside the cramped, slightly damp war room. Becker attempted to end the argument by really lashing out at Kantler. "We cannot survive a direct encounter with the German military! If their invasion of Poland was any example, we should be annexed within days! We should not jeopardize the lives of our civilians and the lives of our soldiers. I suggest we surrender."
"Damn it, Becker, you're only a Brigadier! I'm the commanding officer around here and I know what's right for the military that I command! The Germans merely had a fluke with the Polish, they're very dumb if they think they can take us on! The British and the French will surely protect us." Schmitt nodded at Kantler in agreement. Fleisher started to put together a comparison board to show the enemy numbers and equipment with their Rhenish counterparts. Becker still tried to carry on the argument. "Kantler, I doubt we can. What did the British and the French do when the damn Reds invaded Poland? Nothing, that's what. They declared war on the Germans but not the dirty communists, what do you expect they're going to do for us?"
Schmitt began to think Becker's reasons over while Kantler kept endlessly providing shallow reasons to keep on the fight. Minutes later, Schmitt made an announcement to the three generals. "Me and President Muller have unanimously decided the Commonwealth will surrender to the German Reich. At least that way we'll get to keep some autonomy. It's better that this war end quick than the war become a meat grinder like it did twenty years ago." Becker and Fleisher looked happy while Kantler did not.
