OOC Bountyhunters! (FT, Signup)

Postby Dyelli Beybi » Thu May 14, 2015 5:31 am

The Background
80kg of gold is worth a hell of a lot in some sectors...

In Dyelli Beybi there have been rumours of 'shape-shifters' infiltrating Government since the middle ages. They have never really gone away, but never actually been taken seriously. Now though there has been a sighting of an individual who has exhibited some of the characteristics associated with the creatures from legend. A shady branch of Dyellian intelligence, simply calling itself 'Taskforce Helix' has decided to investigate the matter and has now succeeded in tracking the creature down.

'Taskforce Helix' has put the word out that it is looking for the toughest bounty-hunters in the galaxy and has set them the task of bringing in the individual, alive. The one who succeeds will be paid a King's randsom... 80kg of pure gold. Everything is off the record, Helix doesn't care what needs to be done, provided that there is no public knowledge of their involvement.

IC Thread is here: http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=341147
__________

OOC:
Please, no Godmodding and please no super-overpowered mercenaries. The 'shape-shifter' (who isn't quite what people think it is) should be more dangerous than any single merc, though they will actively try to avoid killing anyone unless it is absolutely necessary. For reference they have cat-like reflexes, exceptional vision in both the day and night, uncanny hearing, can track by scent and are an excellent shot. What they are not, is physically strong or possessing of all that much stamina.

What I am hoping to find before starting this up is;

1. Someone who might want to play the inhabitants of a planet that becomes a battleground. So law enforcement, civilians etc etc. If nobody wants to do this, I'll do it on a Dyellian planet. I thought it might be more interesting if they were shot down over someone else's though.

2. Some people wanting to play mercenary chars.
If you want to do this please can you fill out the following;

Name:
Species:
Physical Description:
Special skills:
Known reputation/Backstory:

Good evening,
it sounds like a fun idea for a RP and, if you want, I can offer you a whole system to turn into a battleground, namely the Trossach-System, my FT-canon.
Would you be interested?

Sounds good. I've RPed my 'shape-shifter' getting shot down in a swamp. Does that work for your idea of how the system should look?

Yes, that works very well with the system and its main planet. I will write my introduction post in a bit, when I have access to a computer with a working a-key (please don't ask).

Name: Angan.

Species: Human.

Physical Description: Angan is in his mid- to late- thirties, light-skinned and brown-eyed. He has short, dark hair on the top of his head, and buzzes it at the sides. His face is long and sharp-chinned. He has symmetrical thick red slashes tracing his cheekbones, the Human Empire rank insignia for a general, but no unit code tattoos (he has also never been a general). He has the beginnings of an unkempt beard. He is tall and lean to the point of being gaunt. Usually he wears the 'cocoon of teeth' armour common to Armoured Hand members (the armour is so called because the tiles that cover its surface are glossy off-white in their default mode and are said to resemble dental enamel), but, again, has no insignia for any specific Hand.

Special skills: Angan is a renowned hunter and tracker of just about anything, and a reasonably good engineer - he has a ship-grade steelbrain jacked into his armour systems, which helps immensely with his forensics. He also has a reputation for unfailing persistence, having been sighted in several engagements where he took non-fatal bullet wounds and continued to fight, apparently not feeling it. He appears able both with Human Empire-standard pulse laser guns, as well as more basic kinetic weapons, and has been observed to be proficient with blade weapons of various types.

Known reputation/Backstory: Born Anat ! ! Emer Slocz Angan (the !s represent clicks, in this case ), Angan now simply goes by the one name under all circumstances, having forfeited his patronymics. In any case it is not clear his forefathers would want to know him. He enlisted in the Armoured Hand of his birth realm of Anat at the age of 21, and was noted as particularly able and fearless in combat, but was dismissed after eight years for insubordination, having failed to withdraw when ordered; his failure cost the lives of several of his men. His dismissal apparently had no effect on his attitude.

After unsteady civilian employment for two years, Angan went rogue at the age of 31. Those with a particular interest in such matters consider him to be one of the more able guns for hire within the Human Empire, and note the speed and finesse with which he carries out his assignments. They also note his unusually agile evasion of law enforcement agents and his near-total lack of empathy.

Name: Ilnin Zeres
Species: Capro
Physical Description: Humanoid. Blue-skinned with close cropped white hair and white irises. Almost six feet tall. Alternately wears a solid grey suit, resembling a military uniform or combat armour in the same shade of grey. Wears a belt over her shoulder, from which hang various tools of her trade including an M-3 Plasma Rifle, which she carries on her back. There is a burn scar on the back of her neck, extending to her ear
Special skills: Ilnin Zeres is a computer expert, with skills in repair, programming and hacking. As an extension of this, she is also skilled with communications technology. She has basic military training, although the bulk of it was command center operations rather than front line combat. More significant is her extensive intelligence training, which, while focused primarily on technology, has more than prepared her for the task of hunting down a fugitive.
Known reputation/Backstory Ilnin Zeres joined the Moad Defense Corps at the age of twenty, having few economic opportunities in her home region. As early as her second week of training, her instructors observed her to be clever, tactically minded and tech savvy and was steered toward the tactical training program (widely regarded as the fast track to officership) where she developed considerable skills with computers and other military technologies. After graduating the program, Zeres transferred into the Space Corps, where she served for five years before being recruited by CSB, the Moad intelligence agency. Little is known about her twenty years in CSB, only that promptly and unexpectedly dismissed following an unauthorized raid she ordered during the Dauntless Heart Rebellion. Zeres left Moad not long after her dismissal and has recently begun working as a mercenary in order to survive.

Zeres is cold, dispassionate and secretive. She does not talk about her past, particularly how a former intelligence officer with a myriad of marketable skills ended up as a bounty hunter. She is ruthless, but never cruel or brutal and only kills when she has not other choice.

Hmm... Well my nation is known for being a source of soldiers of fortune, but they tend to be of a type that would ride horses across wide open landscapes, do things like blowing up railroad bridges with dynamite, and then hideout in forests and caves or friendly villages where they share drinks and argue before voting about what their next target should be and whether they should actually fulfill the conditions of the contract they made with an employer they have now realized is a corrupt bastard who plans to double-cross them.

I feel I may be metagaming slightly. Sorry about that. I don't want Angan to be gotten rid of by the local fauna, because that's no fun for me, or miss his target entirely, because why would I even be here then?

New Pyrrhius wrote:Name: Subject 98137 "Visceral Landing"
Species: Transhuman, Japhnaara
Physical Description: Tall, somwhere in the 2 meter range. Very muscular and bulky, covered in a gator-like skin with a noticeable subdermal carapace. Skin color is variable due to mimetic skin layer. Eyes are utterly alien in appearance, with the whites of the eyes being pitch black in color and the pupils roughly shaped like an hourglass. fingernails and teeth are long and razor sharp. Typically wears a hardsuit stylized after an insectoid carapace.
Special skills: Irregular combat, highly trained in taking out genetically engineered organisms. Adept at tracking genetic deviants through urban environments, mainly by taking advantage of the panoptic security systems found in in many cities. Generally a melee expert, preferring to get up close to a genetic deviant and deliver deadly toxins either through specialized blades or glands in the body. Of course, shapeshifters don't exactly have a standard protocol.
Known reputation/Backstory: Genetic engineering is a delicate industry. While your average first-generation pink cat dragon or military grade war organism will usually behave as planned, further generations and shadier operations often cause unexpected biological aberrations. While mostly condemned to braindeath or far too cancerous to move, many are functional enough to pose a danger to ecosystems and society. So when your pink cat dragon inevitably gets a bad case of space rabies and tears open ten people, it's time to call a Genome Slayer. The task of killing gene engineered lifeforms is especially important on post-apocalyptic worlds where such beasts can run wild. It may seem odd that a Japhnaara, a member of a transhuman clade that has mastered genetic modification, would choose such an occupation. Money does a funny thing to morals.

Do not forget that the Dyellians want the shape shifter alive... otherwise accepted!
