Concept: Young magicians who happen to have familiars who are the souls of famous and near mythical individuals, are enrolled in an international academy for magic where they are all also put into the Monster Hunter club.

Intro:
Magic is a special and rare art, practiced by the few with the natural gift to use it. It is either a scared miracle, an science, or perhaps a bit of both depending on how you look at it. However true magic, regardless of its source, is learnt and earned rather than simply given to you. It takes considerable training and effort to fully comprehend and control the magic within oneself. It takes a certain person to completely master their magic. Especially in this modern era where magic is so widely known yet so poorly understood.
That was why the Advanced Mage Academy was set up. To find those with the most potential for great magic and train them. The AMA only accepts students from the individual branch schools that teach unique schools of magic.
The AMA also makes a point of training and finding those few students who manage to manifest a familiar. These beings are spiritual in nature, and form a contract with specific individuals of their choosing. It was once a garentee that great things would come of a wizard, though since Familiars have become more common it’s not a surefire sign of success.
Though not many get into the academy, it's often the case that only time an patience will improve their magical powers. However magicians also gain power much quicker through fighting monsters, though this is an incredibly dangerous thing to attempt as monsters can be exceptionally deadly and the more you improve the more dangerous monsters you would have to fight, something no one would even attempt without a familiar. This is why the Monster Hunter Club was established, taking promising students and putting them on a fast track to success or death and also ridding the world of a few monsters at the same time. It's been accused of being a slaughterhouse, but few can argue with it's results.

Familiars:
Familiars are part reality and part myth. Given flesh and form by our magic and our will, they take the form of our greatest legends. They apear to be, for all intents and purposes, almost reincarnations of those legends.
Must be someone who has died or from myth. You can make this person up or use a famous figure from history, or even Myth. They will fight for you in battle, usually following their masters orders.

So this isn't completely finished yet. I could use help in expanding the world a tad, getting up a manual of monsters, fleshing out the mechanics, finishing the stats. Plus some specifics on the monster hunter club need to be added.
Plus I want magical school ideas. I want more magic schools to be available to the players, even more than we have now.
