10. May 1986. Early in the morning the generals of the Red Army and high ranking members of the Communist Party overthrew Gobrachov.Angry at him and his attempt to install democracy in the USSR they arrested him for betraying the Communist cause.NATO members sent a letter of protest but it made no significance.Two weeks later the spark that ignited the war was cast.
24. May 1986. A small island state in the middle of the North sea called Breda was invaded.Once it was a part of Britain but gained independence during the 50s.
Breda wasn't part of NATO so many people were surprised by this.NATO decided to stop this so on the 26. of May they landed their forces on Breda.
16. July 1986. After a civilian plane was shot down by the USSR,NATO retaliated by launching a ICBM.Soon dozens of nukes were launched all over the world...Then silence.
Forces on Breda were unaffected by the nukes,but they will cause a major problem.Both sides lost contact with the mainland.With food running low they had to resort to banditry.
Small bands of soldiers were formed.They attack villages and cities,attacked civilians,raped them...Nationality became unimportant as the struggle forced old enemies to become allies.
But the Bredians didn't just stand and watch,they formed a resistance.Weak and scattered but still ready to fight.They will do anything to kick the soldiers of their island.

Introduction to The Republic of Breda:
Breda(The Republic of) is made up of 50 soldiers and roughly 200 civilians, what is left of Wellington's population after the nuclear holocaust and subsequent collapse of civilization. Wellington was not hit by any nuclear weapons, and neither was Breda. However, the collapse left NATO and USSR troops divided. Most NATO troops decided to make it on their own and take advantage of the Bredans. One NATO Regiment decided to help them instead. The regiment traveled to Wellington, where they found the city in a state of chaos. Raiders and other criminals took advantage of the collapse of civilization, pillaging, raping, and committing other barbaric acts. A USSR squad was also occupying the town hall and claiming Wellington for the USSR. The regiment, having around 150 troops back then, sieged Wellington, taking it back from the criminals. After months of fighting, the regiment surrounded town hall. They spent 2 days fighting the soviets inside the building, suffering heavy causalties. However, the finally took town hall, and with full control of the city and support of its populace, they declared The Republic, the legitimate government of Breda. They next couple of months, the soldiers and volunteers from the populace built a crude wall around the city. It didn't offer much protection, but it kept the raiders and criminals out. Patrols are stationed on the wall, and a small militia trained by the regiment enforces law within the city itself. With fuel rare, food in short supply, and winter approaching, The Republic has sent out small scavenging parties, grabbing fuel, materials, seeds, other plants, and any food they can find, stockpiling most, planting the rest, and reinforcing the wall. The Republic is determined to survive the winter of Breda and bring peace, stability, and democracy back to the island.
