This is day of blood of glory
God bless this glorious day
Our names written in history
Among the sun of early May
Time to reunify the nation
Has finally this day came
To bring brothers liberation
We will cover ourselves in fame

Hey Namlacians your guns fire
Long live freedom, long live nation
Let us voice our desire
LONG LIVE TRIEU, LONG LIVE LIBERATION!
LONG LIVE TRIEU, LONG LIVE LIBERATION!

To arms - shouts the red tyrant
Punish those patriots evil
Thinking themselves as people valiant
Standing against capitalist devil
Come commie your end is near
Situation will be much worse
You will find in Nam Lac here
Nothing besides your own corpse!

Hey Namlacians your guns fire
Long live freedom, long live nation
Let us voice our desire
LONG LIVE TRIEU, LONG LIVE LIBERATION!
LONG LIVE TRIEU, LONG LIVE LIBERATION!

Kill the commies, purge them in flames
Let the nation become clean again
Drive them out of our towns and homes
Bring them most vicious pain!
Form the ranks, spare no red!
We will be killing this plague
Until they are all dead
Drive out this evil league!

Hey Namlacians rise the banner
Because we stood against red fever
Our hearts burn like fire
LONG LIVE TRIEU, NAM LAC FOREVER!
LONG LIVE TRIEU, NAM LAC FOREVER!

*** The underground of Palace of Republic

1955 brought major changes in Nam Lac. Once occupied by Nihon, Nihonese army withdrew after agreement in Nihon - Tong war, also called the Great Furukurian Sea War, was reached. Nam Lac had to hold an elections about the future of the state. The elections came in 1958, but nobody in fact accepted their result. Two major parties, Communist Party of Nam Lac and Freedom and Independence (representing conservative free-market views) competed against each other in elections which de facto failed; communists scored minimal victory, only 50% to 48% of votes. This, however, was not taken enthusiastically by FaI party, which quickly mobilized it's own militia, claiming that communists faked the elections; the militia force was quickly armed in Nihonese weaponry and trained by KITSUNE force, as that time emperor Go-Juntoku was afraid of spread of communism in that region. The communists of course received support from other communist states. The war erupted in January 1956 and ended in November 1958. Two years of fighting costed millions of people lives; Communists quickly secured North, while the FaI forces secured the south. The biggest bloodshed was in former capital of Vo Cai, which was split into half during early hours of the war - the front line almost did not move for whole conflict. The war left enormous destruction of Vo Cai; historic city full of palaces, temples and works of art was destroyed so badly that it was not rebuilt even until today. However the war of attrition waged by both sides did not served either one; both sides depleted resources by 1958, and international opinion wanted to see peace in Nam Lac. In addition, there was civilian question; the FaI guerilla units known as "Night Tigers" were conducting bloody raids on communist party members and supporters, and communists shown them and their families no mercy in return. Such wave of terror was not taken kindly by civilian population. In October 1958 most of Night Tigers guerillas as well as Republic of Nam Lac regulars - trained by Nihon and armed in Nihonese arms - were pushed at 48*S. Then, the leaders of both countries agreed on temporary cease fire with demarcation line at 48*S. Ironically, the cease fire lasted for 57 years. At the time both countries were creating their economies and arming themselves, preparing for final confrontation. Many border clashes, shelling of RONL territories by communists or occasional terrorist attack by National Volunteer Corps, as Night Tigers were renamed, were still carried however - as the FaI guerillas never were deactivated, partially thanks to liberal gun laws in RONL, and communists were not particularly interested in allowing such raids.

Year 1998, 50 years after the war ended, brought new power onto the RONL political sphere; it was so called FaI coalition, named after original FaI from 1950s, which was fractured in following years. The coalition of right wing conservatives, nationalists and capitalists consisted few parties - like Đảng Tự do Thương mại (Free Trade Party) or Đảng Bảo thủ ( Conservative Party). Most important role however was played by " Người đảng toàn quốc Nam Lạc "Trieu"- "National Party of Nam Lac People - Trieu", named after half-legendary Trieu dynasty which founded Nam Lac according to folklore. Headed by charismatic Dr. Tu Van Thao, who assumed post of president from arm of this party in year 1998; and according to constitution could be elected three times for seven year term. Dr. Thao created series of free market reforms and militarisation; while he was often accused of limiting democracy and freedom of speech, he was not totalitarian, rather authoritarian - but still, communist government did not liked him. Dr. Thao was famous for his "crusade against the reds". Being devout protestant Christian, whose family were Imperial officials who were first to convert when British colonized those lands (before Nihonese invasion drove them out in 1916), dr. Thao's political campaign begun without explosions; but he ascended quickly. Now in power as president of Nam Lac, Dr. Tu Van Thao built enormous military force and was responsible for economic boom in early 2000s; his wise economic policies given Republic of Nam Lac one of fastest growing economies in the region, while communist economy was hit after soviet union fell. Now, even with this indirect Vedrian support, Dr. Thao was ready to realise his vision before he will leave office; Nam Lac united under the south.

Nihonese trained his army perfectly, as well as delivered enormous amount of equipment. Bought through Nihonese contacts were 12 TaH - 29 multi role air superiority fighters, all piloted by Nihonese "advisers" which would be used to defend the capital in coming war. 372 Type 86 Chi - Go built by Nihonese with Nachmerian cooperation had advantage over every single tank what the communists had. The Duvalier - 1M missile bought from Inyursta was outclassing every air defence system that DRNL had. While his army still was using a lot of old equipment like AMX-30, it was a considerable force to be counted with.

Dr. Tu Van Thao was now sitting deep below the ground of the Palace of the Republic, with most important people from his government. He was looking at Marshall Hai Van Sinh, who was pointing at something on the wall. The Marshall was just finishing the speech he was giving.

"... As I said before, we have serious chances to win this war. My plan was outlined before, so I do not need to repeat it again. In terms of equipment we are on advantage. As you are aware, most of terrain in both DRNL and RONL is Jungle, so technically our light infantry formations will be having serious advantage. Besides we outmatch them not only by numbers but also by technology; while I do not believe that tanks will play a serious role in this war, we have 2524 to 1869, with our tanks like PT - 91 or TYPE - 86 having considerable advantage, as they are modern constructions, while their best tank is 1984 variant of T-80. In terms of navy we have bigger number of submarines and surface vessels, but they have more expanded light surface strike forces; it can pose some trouble, but nothing we can not deal with. Even if they posses some landing ships, identified by TC8 as "Ropucha" class, this ships are unable to carry more than naval infantry regiment when combined. In terms of air power we are equal. Mr. President, I believe we have serious chances of ending nightmare of our brothers in the north and removing the commies from power."

The president smiled and spoke:

"You got my congratulations, Marshall" his eyes were focused on him. The Supreme Commander knew that Dr. To Van Thao is a cunning man, and well versed political player capable of manipulating people to his will as he wanted "If, according to your analysis, we can win this war, I am giving you green light. Expect my speech tomorrow morning, I shall provoke the commies a bit. They need to give us reason to attack. Dismissed."

When they left, the true game begun.

*** Tiehn Dihn Province

Gen. Hai Van Dien was usually a calm man, who was considered a father by his soldiers. In his free time, Hai Van Dien was busy painting and fishing; but on the battlefield this man was ruthless commander who was known for showing no mercy to communists. Right now he was on training ground in Ba Diep, overseeing the training of 1st Self Propelled Artillery (MRLS) brigade/1st Infantry Corps. Equipped with RM - 70/85M MRLS. While not so long in range, this was not a priority, as the long range upgraded ASTROS II and M110 howitzers were not far behind them; purpose of RM - 70/85M was more to mow down the possible advancing communist infantry than to provide long range fire support; the terrain layout in front of them dictated this. The front would not be wide in case of conflict - the border was about 54km long. Single corps would be able to hold it, but both nations had much more to offer. With the 1st Artillery Corps behind them, whole area had serious cover - the DRNL lacked similar formation capable of striking the big guns like those of the southerners.

The general was standing on the rice field. His short posture was dominating over that hill from which he and another officer, Colonel - General On Duc Toai, much taller than him and with more imposing posture, were watching the missile unit conducting the fire drill conducted by Col. Gen. On Duc's unit. The RM - 70/85M were standing on place of cut off jungle, aiming for abandoned rice field where nobody was growing rice any more.

"Ran, this is Ran actual, fire mission coming, over!" said tall soldier to the radio when observing the area. By the way he spoke he seemed to be a commander of whole situation.

"Ran, whole load, over!" he gave another command, indicating how many rounds will be fired by the MRLS. Each of them had 40 rounds - and all of them were going to be fired at imaginary communist horge.

"Ran, load standard, over!" the crews rushed to load the powerful rockets into the mighty jaws of the MRLS tubes. Soon they will breath fire, destroying the imaginary communist assault. The tubes were loaded, now the time came for another preparations.

"Ran, contact fuze, over!" the ammunition was prepared to wreck havoc on the "commies".

"Ran, deflection zero three two one, over!" the MRLS prepared themselves. The trajectory was calculated. The fire would soon begin.

"Ran, elevation two seven two, over!" the mighty rocket launchers arose, readying itself for fire. It seemed like it will soon devour whole land around.

"Ran, fire for effect, over and out!" the method of fire was chosen, and soon nothing could stop the fire to be unleashed from tubes. Terrifying hissing sound covered whole area as the missiles started, and it continued until all the rockets left the tubes. The rice field soon turned into area of explosions, torn apart by exploding rockets. "Advancing communist infantry" was destroyed. The man radioed to his commander the damage report. Mission was accomplished.

"Seems that we have enough to kill those motherf**kers if they come at us" smiled Gen. Hai Van, as he looked at fires burning among what used to be rice field once, and now was training ground for his men "If this were commies, they would be all dead now."

"I am honoured, sir!" Colonel - General On Duc Tai was a humble man, who did not liked to exalt himself over his men.

General Hai Van wanted to speak more, but he was cut by coming lieutenant who was ruing towards them with worried look on his face. The young NCO saluted both officers and shouted:

"Sergeant 2nd class La Minh reporting in!" he saluted, and, Gen. Hai Van noticed the logo of the corps communications battalion on his arm "You got new orders from An Mihn, sir. It has been authenticated already."

"Rest!" Gen. Hai Van saluted him "Colonel - General, please provide me with safe room for reading."

They went quickly to the HQ of his brigade. The General Hai Van opened the envelope and read it. As he was reading it his face change it's look. He just received a WARNO for eventual attack on the North. He was not sure if this was true or false plan - as the military procedures often involved circulating false plans to confuse DPRNL, but he was sure something was about to happen...

At the same time additional units were moved a bit north, to ensure bigger combat reserves. Their procedures were the silent march as created by Nihonese; the soldiers were coming through jungle in small groups, re-supplying on prepared earlier by National Volunteer Corps resupply points. The small groups had bushes attached to them and moved through dense jungle guided by locals. The vehicles used the road systems at night, going without the lights on, using the locals and accumulator - loaded nocto vision to orientate in terrain. Many of those light infantry units were not to be revealed until the initial strike, and would have to infiltrate through the border, guide the incoming units and capture strategic locations to ensure envelopment.

Moving through well known terrain, the units moved sacrificing flank security for speed; the established infiltration routes were already prepared.

The war would soon begin, and nothing would save the commies.

Excerpt from a UL Intelligence Report on the Democratic Republic of North Nam Lac

To put things simply, the North was fucked.

Against the South, their armor was inferior. T-80Us that haven't been updated in over a decade, not to mention the now-ancient T-72s that formed the bulk of the North's armored forces. So was their aircraft, which we mostly old Su-27s delivered by Vedria once they became obsolete, plus a few Foxbats and Rooks left behind from the blank check days of the the then-enthusiastic Vedrian Intelligence Service. A few Quicksand fighter-bombers, also obsolete by modern standards, were their latest additions from their Vedrian backers, albeit a bit worn-out by years of use.

But all was not gloom and doom, apparently. First off, they had these fresh new ATGMs from the Vedrians, designed to defeat all but the most modern frontal armor of tanks, even side armor covered with ERA blocks, which were nice. Also, they had these sexy new SAMs from the Vedrians, which was a ground variant of their ADM-7, which were designed to take out modern aircraft and missiles at medium range: which ought to help protect ground forces from Southern air power. But, most of all, they had access to Vedrian intelligence on the South. Their movements, bases, equipment and, hopefully, intentions for the future.

And for now, their intentions looked grim.

The Northern military planners saw this ever since the Truangs took power in the South. They see their buildup, their rhetoric, their ever-increasing capabilities while the North's own abilities failed to keep up. Every three years, they planned and ran simulations, each one turned grimmer and grimmer than the last. And all-out conventional maneuver war against the South was unfeasible, given their numerical and material disadvantage. Therefore, in 2013, they created War Plan 6, their strategy in countering the South.

And it was brilliant.

In short, it called for a total, all-out defensive attrition war against the South. It called for grinding jungle defensive operations, brutal urban warfare, relentless airstrikes and, should the Vedrians intervene, a total blockade of the South. It seeked to inflict maximum casualties on the enemy, to shatter their will to fight, to send them crawling back to their homeland in humiliating defeat. Should the North manage to inflict casualties equivalent to 1/10th of the South's forces, it would surely break the South's resolve to invade, while the same amount of casualties would only weaken the North; after all, they were defending their homeland.

Surrender was not an option.

Avuz, The Federal Republic of Vedria - 2 Days Ago

"Well, to put it simply, you guys are fucked", said one Vedrian intelligence officer.

"The South is obviously preparing for a full invasion. Our satellites picked up some irregular traffic movement on the roads about two nights, from what we can only assume are tanks. We even did a few drone flybys last night to confirm our suspicions, and their thermal imaging scanners picked them up too. Too hot and too big to be regular trucks or cars, so armored vehicles are the only possibility. We estimate that the initial assault will take place sometime within the next five days. It'd be best if you guys got the fuck out of here right now and begin to mobilize your forces".

The Northern officials in the room go silent. They weren't used to such crude language, much more in an official meeting with foreign officials, in which they always expected formality and decorum. But now, there is no time for formality and decorum.

"So, war is coming. Damn it. Damn it all", was the sole reply from one of the Nam Lac generals in the room.

"Its has been coming ever since your country was born. And, knowing that, we have prepared all we can give you to help you in your war. We've already planned for a naval intervention should war be declared, which will arrive in a month or so after the declaration of war. Our support should soon follow, mainly air and naval strikes at their forces. All you need to do is to slow down their advance by as much as possible".

"Very well then. We must return to our country as soon as possible to give out orders for a mobilization".

"Godspeed, general. Meeting adjourned".

The Border of North and South Nam Lac

All was quiet on the southern front. No movement, no maneuvers. It was strange, really, to see such stillness. Such... Tranquility. For the briefest time, the villagers who live near the frontier enjoy the peace. It seemed that, on that day, there would be no random gunfire from the South, nor any retaliatory artillery fire from the North. Children played near the watchtowers of the North, watchtowers that were always manned, always ready.

Yet, on this hot summer day, they were empty. Not a man on the towers. Not a soldier in sight.

Excerpt from War Plan 6 (abridged)

In the event of a threat of invasion from the South, our forces are to pull back from the border to roughly 15 kilometers north of the 48*S, to the First Line. There they shall attempt to stall the Southern advance with attriction tactics, booby traps, mines and heavy artillery, with the aid of the pre-prepared positions set up in accordance with NDD-9. Naturally, being at a material disadvantage against the South, once we have managed to achieve our goal of slowing down their advance, our forces are to fall back to the Second Line another 15 kilometers north, and attempt to further slow the southern advance, using the same tactics as employed on the First Line. After we have further slowed their advance, we are to withdraw to the Third Line another 15 km north. This is the last line of defence for our nation. Here we must stall their forces, for if not they will continue to penetrate into our great and wreack havoc on our industrial base, damaging our ability to wage war, if not already damaged by Southern air power.
Using the same tactics employed on each defensive line, we are to damage their forces further. Here we must either turn the tide or stall their advance, in the hopes of destroying their will to fight. For these defensive operations, we are to employ the I Corps, the III Corps mechanized divisions...

The war begins!

Where there are brave, I shall give victor’s wreath
Where there are weak, I shall make them skilled
Where there are socialists, I shall make them yield
My word in the soul shall be as my gun in the field!
" - Marshall Hai Van Sinh

*** the DMZ: The Zero Hour

RONL was also gathering intelligence on DPRL movements, both by friendly locals working for NVC or by their own drones which regularly filed in the DRNL air space, gathering information. The slow withdrawal of the DRNL army did not escaped their sight. They knew that enemy knew they were coming - but they did not knew from where they were coming. Since the withdrawal begun, the Nam Lac light infantry formations begun infiltration of the zone, moving in very small units and re-assembling at their designed points. They were well trained in this kind of war. Hiding among the dense jungle and avoiding urban areas, the RONL military awaited order to strike. Masters at camouflage and surprise warfare. Unlike DRNL which seemed to prefer attrition warfare, RONL wanted to use well developed manoeuvre warfare strategy, where the enemy will be overwhelmed with superior speed and aggression. There was no chance for slow "shoot and grind" war here, this was to be fast attack which will overwhelm enemy with first strike and then go so quickly that he will be unable to mount resistance. This will be brutal war; war which would take thousands, but which will allow this nation to be re-unified. The time had come.

The south had also another surprise for DRNL; kept in secret tunnels dug under the border to allow better infiltration. There were many of them, and that is why additional corps units were brought two days before; using newest technologies those tunnels allowed to transport an infantry division in matter of hours. Kept in secret, they were going to be the beginnings of the invasion. At 02.00 at night 22.04.2015 four infantry divisions of 2nd Infantry Corps argumented by anti-tank battalion and recon brigade disappeared into the tunnels to pass through the border. Tunnels exceed as far as 20km behind the DMZ, so soldiers stationing on first line would have a nasty surprise. They of course had a long time to walk, but they knew that this will be worth it. They were walking to exit points through different tunnels, so even in case that DRNL soldiers knew of few of them, they will not know of all. This of course had it's disadvantage; it were infantry formations, so their only chance was quick linking with the incoming assault from 1st Infantry and 1st Mechanized Corps argumented by two tank brigades from 2nd Tank Corps - the elite ones using Nihonese Type 86 tanks.

While the units will enter, the command would use some movement somewhere away to confuse enemy intelligence even more. With enemy having only two divisions here, with one being reserve one, they will not have enough men to cover whole area, allowing the ARNL to sneak in.

Preparations were already under way on the border as every unit was mobilizing. All the time commanders circulated false plans to confuse the enemy intelligence, as well as setting mock tanks and artillery pieces in positions nearby their real firing positions, to confuse the eventual counter - fire.

First to attack were the light infantry formations however. They were leaving their tunnels which exists were among the dense jungle, which even additionally protected them with thick canopy from unwanted eyes, about 17-20km from the DMZ. The units will be leaving and taking positions around the DRNL unit bases. Mortars and HMGs were to be set carefully. This of course was happening in the middle of the night, so enemy had additional problems thanks to darkness around him.

After confirmation that the enemy is, ARNL soldiers will try to crawl as far as they can. Then barrage of mortars and grenades, then three- sided attack on the Vedrian positions identified before by the drone observation. While two divisions of 1st infantry corps will be tasked with attack on enemy's positions from behind, supported by two divisions attacking from the front after re-assembling, the 4th division of 2nd infantry corps will be tasked with capture or destruction of enemy artillery units to deny him use of supporting fire, and with the recon brigade and AT battalion setting up the rear guard. Each unit will attack it's subsequent objectives given by local commanders.

The moment when infiltration was achieved, a single report went into ether:

"Kiem Actual this is Kiem One Actual, Rồng Đen, Rồng Đen, Rồng Đen, over!"

ORBAT:
- 1st Infantry Division: 10359 / 1st Inf Corps
- 2nd Infantry Division: 10359 / 1st Inf Corps
- 1st Infantry Division: 10359 / 2nd Inf Corps
- 2nd Infantry Division: 10359 / 2nd Inf Corps
- 3rd Infantry Division: 10359 / 2nd Inf Corps
- 1st Infantry Division: 10359 / 2nd Inf Corps
- 1st Antitank battalion: 291 / 1st Inf Corps
- 1st Recon Brigade: 2754 / 1st Inf Corps
- 2nd Recon (sniper) battalion: 112/ 2nd inf Corps

Rồng Đen, meaning "Black Dragon" would mean that surprise was achieved. And that would mean the end. This would be signal for 1st Artillery corps to fire.

General Dan Manh Chien for a long time awaited this sound. He loved what would happen next. His corps had 360x M110 SPH, 540x ASTROS II MRLS and 24 Duvalier - 1M SRBM from the strategic battalions, last one being comparable to Iskander, with exception of range being increased to 500 km. Most of his weaponry could without problem strike everywhere in DRNL, and he was going to utilize it.

Mock-ups of the artillery were already in place before, while majority of artillery was kept below the ground (as with Duvaliers) or under camouflage nests to confuse the enemy. They had protection of batteries from air defence force, which would protect them from eventual northern counter- batter fire. General Manh Chien smiled as he observed the Duvaliers preparing themselves to fire, and soon as they arose among clouds of fire. Each of the launchers had two such missiles on single vehicle; 48 were fired that day, and with speed of MACH 7 and such manoeuvrability MEDRADS would not stop these beasts; eight of them will hit key targets around capital, such as government buildings and key industrial facilities; remaining 40 will fall on key military bases such as military airfields and most important ground force bases. With 7m accuracy and guided by Nihonese satellites, there was nothing to stop them.

With them came another wave of attack; Astros II was capable of launching AVTM-300 cruise missile on range of 300km. While subsonic, this missile had enormous potential. Fired by the MRLS, they were used to attack industrial sites and artillery sites within the region. 200kg warhead should be enough to cause some damage to air defence sites and industrial sites targeted by those strikes. 410 such missiles were fired in initial barrage, attempting to destroy as much as they could.

At the same time, eight F15E recently started will fire eight Ny - 45 ARMs at enemy radar stations. This missile was equipped with passive search system with ability to track enemy electronics with ease. Soon they will enjoy the destruction also.

With barrage of fire coming at DRNL, they had small chances of survival, especially when the ARNL units supporting the 1st Artillery Corps used the TYPE DV21. Type DV21 was a; a powerful jamming device with 250km range and capable of electronic destruction on almost unimaginable scale. Soon seven of those devices launched an attack on DRNL communications; four launched spot jamming on communication systems, identified by Nihonese ELINT before, jamming every major communication frequency that DRNL Army had, while the remaining three launched barrage jamming to prevent hopping. With such assault those two defending divisions will have hard time organizing against the assault, being leaderless and disorganized. Probably the command would not even realize what is happening.

ORBAT:
- Whole 1st Artillery Corps, 4 strategic battalions, 7x Type DV21 EW (mounted on truck) and 8x F15E Strike Eagle.

*** Furukurian Sea, the same time as infiltration attempts.

The moment when the army was attacking, the navy begun it's own attack. While most of ships were ordered to leave the port and regroup on the coastal waters before launching a blockade attempt against the north, eight SSKs were already en route into the sea near DRNL. Six of them went further north, their engines working silently; their major purpose would be to prepare for attack on enemy SLOCs, denying the enemy supplies that were to reach him by sea. Any tanker or ship suspected of carrying the supplies for the enemy was to be sunk without mercy. While six of them will go on international waters, rest will swim towards their targets.

At the same time naval aviation will begin patrols over the ocean to search for enemies.

Major Minh Thuan just finished zipping his suit, as SSK carrying his team lowered the speed to 10 knots, and planned to lower it even more soon. This sub was very stealthily, and going at 80m made it very hard to detect. The problem was that it was approaching the DRNL naval base. He just finished checking his re-breather. His team (alongside another SSK with team attacking other port) will insert into enemy port via manned torpedo, mine the enemy ships, detonate them and escape. The SSK moved to 22m and decreased speed to 3 knots, and soon the whole team left the sub and headed towards the port. God will decide how their mission will go.

ORBAT:
- All SSKs operated by RONL Navy
- Surface Attack Division / 3rd Ship Flotilla, 15th Missile Boat Division / 2nd Coastal Defence Flotilla and 7th Corvette Group / 3rd Ship Flotilla regrouping on coastal waters.

*** The Border: Operation Steel Wall

The ARNL used doctrine called "deep battle" or "echeloned combat". While the enormous asymmetric infantry attack was first echelon, this was to be 2nd echelon. Four mechanized infantry brigades and two tank brigades were more than ready to do this, as OMG - operational manoeuvre group. Once the encirclement of the DPNL army will succeed and there will appear even slightest hole, the mechanized and tank formations will strike through this hole going at full speed.

Their purpose was to wreck havoc on enemy rear, and go even further, destroy command and control and paralyse the enemy with sole speed of their assault. The more harm done in first hours - the better. Marshall Hai Van Sinh's plan was to take whole north in less than month; this war had to end quickly before other states could react.

And so it begun.....

ORBAT:
- 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade: 4781/ 1st Infantry Corps
- 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade: 4781 / 2nd Infantry Corps
- 5th Mechanized Infantry Brigade: 4781 / 1st Tank Corps
- 5th Mechanized Infantry Brigade: 4781 / 2nd Tank Corps
- 1st Tank Brigade: 2481 /1st Infantry Corps (Sabra & PT - 91)
- 2nd Tank Brigade: 2481 / 3rd Infantry Corps (Sabra & PT - 91)

Trau Doc, The Democratic Republic of Nam Lac

In the dead of night, a valiant, yet tired, few man the radar posts and command and control centers of the North. One such man, had a direct link to VEDSAT-8, a Vedrian radar satellite which was tasked with detecting artillery fire, missile launches and large troop movements.

And detect them, it did.

"Sir, VEDSAT-8 has detected southern artillery opening fire on our positions on the first line. We are estimating roughly... My god... 900 artillery systems have opened fire."

The ranking officer is stunned. He knew a barrage would come, but not at this size. He calls up the Northern Chief of Command, who has barely slept in the last three days, knowing that such an attack would come. He runs up quickly to the communications terminal in the Ministry of Defense building, and opens a video line with the CnC base

"Dear god. At least we saw this coming. Thank the god for the Vedrians. Order the SCUD batteries to open fire in line with Fire Plan Gamma*. How many incoming missiles?"

"We're seeing over... 400 incoming cruise missiles. Most have a projected trajectory towards our industrial areas and air defence sites. Also the capital and army bases."

"Order all mobile units to execute Defence Plan A**. Everyone that can't move will have to hunker down. Do we have locks on their strategic fire positions?"

"No, sir. Most strategic missile launchers are underground".

"Fuck, well, tell the Air Force to execute Ops Plan D, and the Navy to initiate Defence Plan A. Also call up our troops on the First Line to prepare their asses. They'll get hit anytime n-"

And with that, the Southern electronic attack was successful. Despite the South's best efforts, with every signals unit frequency hopping like madmen, the entire network was down within 12 minutes. Backup lines are being scrambled to action, emergency frequencies being tuned to for the first time ever, but for a few precious hours, the North would be paralyzed and unable to respond.

The command and control center was not vulnerable, for it was buried deep underground underneath a nondescript housing block, which was directly connected to all major Northern government buildings via underground tunnels. In those seconds, every major Northern official was ushered underground into the command base, which was hardened against the heaviest of conventional bombardments. From there, they will wait out the storm of fire, then arise from the deep to address a shocked and hard-hit nation.

The First Line

A cloud of smoke, a storm of fire, a rain of hell.

All of the above, awaited the men of the First Line.

As many slept, and more kept watch, a sea of ordnance fell upon their positions, and from the storm of death, dust and destruction, came another storm of bullets and bombs from the Southern forces. These men knew that the invasion was coming, but what they did not know was from where. They, like the rest of the North, knew not of the invasion tunnels dug right under their feet, spewing out Southern infantry towards their rear. They were doomed right from the start. Two divisions, gone in a night, if the South did as good as expected.

Although, strategically, they are expendable. They did not know of this, naturally, but they were expected to be destroyed in the opening days of the war. Such was the reason why no armor or mechanized forces were committed to the defense of the First Line; they were expected to die. But with their deaths, they would enable their great nation to live.

The Second Line

With news of the initial barrage from the South, the II Corps, made up of 2 Armored and 3 Mechanized Divisions, began a barrage of their own against enemy units a bit south of the First Line, opening up with 320 155mm SP guns and 80 MLRS systems, launching 36 rockets each, all aimed at the incoming Southern forces roughly 21 kilometers away.

Time will tell if the barrage will hinder the Southern advance.

Vihn Son Naval Base, The Democratic Republic of Nam Lac

As the news of the initial barrage reached the base, everyone on base was roused to action. The crews began to prepare the First Surface Warfare Squadron for their operations in the Furukurian Sea, hoping to enforce a blockade on the enemy homeland. Similarly, all across the country, naval bases were also roused to action to do the same, with each and every naval asset the North had being prepared for action, except for the Second Surface Warfare Squadron and the 3rd Coastal Defence squadron, which was already on regular patrols. And so, the sailors took up their posts on their ships, and as they prepared to set out they wondered why their base hadn't been hit yet. The South had been very thorough with their inital attack, as was expected, yet not a single missile had fallen on the base, or any base for that matter.

One sleepy-eyed sailor took up his post on the passive sonar station on one of the Type-66 SSKs on base. In three seconds, the sleepy-eyed sailor was no longer sleepy-eyed for he had detected an unmistakable sound; that of an incoming torpedo.

North Nam Lac

In airfields all over the country, aircraft, with only mere seconds to react, begin to get up into the skies before Southern missiles impact their airfields. Air defence begins to target as best as they could against subsonic targets; the supersonic missiles thrown at them arrive in mere seconds, too fast for Northern air defence to react. Air defence sites begin to open fire against the sea of precision-guided metal about to rain down on their homeland. Aircraft begin taking off and getting to pre-planned rally points above the North, all in accordance with Ops Plan D. The Southern military was extensively drilled in what to do with each plan, so that in case of a massive attack by the South, each unit would know what to do in case their superior officers were unable to tell them what to do.

By now, the storm of fire had struck. Radar sites, airfields, army bases, government buildings, all took massive hits. The Air Force loses over half of it's aircraft; each squadron, save for the 25th Interceptor Squadron which was up in the air at the time, was now down to 10-12 aircraft from the original 24 that they fielded. The 11th, 166th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 101st, 78th, 99th, 11th, 65th and 31st Squadrons had lost over half of their aircraft. The airbases that held these squadron were also damaged; 4 out of 6 major airbases were now inoperable, the aircraft within them needing to be moved to back-up airfields in secluded locations all over the country. Air defense also took a major hit; 11 out of 11 radar sites and all 15 Air Defence batteries had been hit, leaving only 3 RADAR sites operable and 2 more needing major repair, given enough time and resources, both of which was in short supply. The other 6 had been destroyed completely, as well as 2 long-range SAM batteries and a short-range SAM battery. From normal strength at 8 missile systems, each remaining battery was now down to 4-5 operable systems, but being mostly blinded by the Southern attacks on the RADAR strikes, their effectiveness is uncertain. Slowly but surely, reports of damage and casualties begin to trickle in from all over the country.

These reports showed that, in the words of the Northern corporal in the signals company who receives them, "everything's gone to shit"

TaH - 29 over Nam Lac.

*** Skied over Nam Lac

The moment the offensive begun, an enormous aircraft was preparing to start. TaH - 29T Daqanoush was a solid Riysan made "4.5 generation air superiority multi role fighter", and Republic of Nam Lac air force had 12 of such aircraft; 8 of which were going to be used in air superiority offensive over the North Nam Lac. Right now they were preparing themselves to take off from the airfield. It had to be noted that people piloting them were not Namlacians - they were Nihonese "advisers" who unlike most of Nam Lac military, which had no combat experience, were all battle - hardened veterans, each one with at least few enemy aircraft shot down. Although they originally came here as instructors, it was not a problem to convince them to join the operation. They agreed to do it with eagerness, because honour ordered them. In addition to them 14 F - 14 Super Tomcats were to support them. Each of them was Tomcat version upgraded extensively by Nihonese company named Tsukumo. These ones were piloted by native Nam Lacians, who trained for years for this day. Day when Nam Lac will be one again.

Engines roared and the TaH - 29T left the underground airfield where they were stored. Unlike rest of air force, they were kept in underground base to prevent being destroyed on ground by Northern strategic strike. From among the clouds of fire arose the iron knights of the skies. Each of them certain that God was on their side, and certain that time to reunite Nam Lac had come. While the Nihonese did not had such strong feelings like native Nam Lacians, they were alsoemotionally attached to prospect of fighting communism. In the air, the TaH - 29 linked up with F - 14 Super Tomcat, and a single E2 Hawkeye. Two tomcats attached themselves to AWACS, which will be their eyes and ears. It were however TaH - 29T which were leading the attack, first ones to fly forward. Like an birds of prey, these aircraft were the ones that will destroy the communists today.

Major Tsukino Sakura was the one leading the group. She was veteran air force pilot and an ace herself, "Angel of Vengeance" of the Imperial Nihonese Naval Air Arm. 34 confirmed kills on enemy aircraft on her behalf marked her career with blood of the Empire's enemies, making her poster girl of Kaigun. As now she flew her TaH - 29T, she thought about her past, but still was focused. Enemy aircraft which survived the initial barrage could be anywhere around. Suddenly a voice of the AWACS operator came from the radio:

"Raiden One Actual this is Sky Eye, four bandits bearing zero one five, radar signature matches MiG - 25, over!" said the AWACS operator.

"Affirmative sky eye actual." she said to through the communications "Raidens, engage the hostile, Fire at will, over and out!"

Each of the "Raidens" knew his job. They fled in four aircraft wedge formations, each with assigned sector of fire. On their side was detection range. TaH - 29 had low RCS (radar cross section), making it's detection much harder. MiG - 25, even in MiG - 25PD version to successfully engage TaH - 29 would have to be around 30km from it. On the contrary, much newer TaH - 29T with powerful R - 19 radar could detect an incoming MiG - 25 from more than 120km. This meant almost 100km range advantage on behalf of TaH - 29T - thing that meant death of MiGs. Targets were now over 119km away, and that meant that TaH - 29 could engage them with ease. 8x SSJ - 9 Kouwayzar, two per each MIG. MiGs would not even realize what hit them before they will be falling down from the skies.

ORBAT:
- 8x TaH - 29T
- 14x F - 14 Super Tomcat
- 1x E3 Hawkeye

At the same time, another air unit - suited for ground attack - launched from the bases and headed north.

*** The Ground offensive:

The northern artillery barrage, however launched, was launched blindly. North had no idea where the Southern units when they will reach their positions. Yet the blindly launched artillery barrage did some unexpected damage; it fell straight on the rear of 5th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, reducing amount of soldiers in it from 4781 to 4301. Over 480 dead and wounded in "blindly" fired barrage, vaporizing brigade's engineer company, turning one mechanized infantry (APC) company into junk and doing damage to anti - tank battalion. It also did some small damage to incoming supply units, unlucky enough to find themselves, as well as killed 84 civilians in local village. First southern losses in this war fell right now. This however was not enough to stop the southern advance, since rest of the units were far more north that moment, approximately 17km away, closing in the help the Infantry units. Yet that barrage was doom of the Nortern Artillery formations. The very moment they fired, counter - battery radars of southern forces detected from where they fired - and they knew exactly what their positions were now. Thanks to nihonese made "Shogun" battlefield management system, information was quickly shared among various batteries, and as soon as the southern forces fired, fire mission was assigned to various artillery units. Two artillery brigades (MRLS) were ordered to deal with them in fire mission which was quickly formulated. Before Northern artillery even realized, 864x 300mm rockets will fall on the positions of the Northern Artillery units, perfectly known thanks to the counter - battery radars. That amount of warheads will for sure teach them not to fire at Southern formations.

Remaining 3x MRLS brigades and Artillery gun brigades of 1st Artillery Corps were assigned to help the advance on the North. First one full artillery brigade received fire mission to engage the tank units of the II Corps. At first, an UAVs assigned to artillery units flew into the sky, for reconnaissance purposes. It flew quickly and identifying the locations of the enemy armour groupings, and forwarded them thanks to SHOGUN to their parent units. Then, the MRLS begun the fire mission to massacre the tanks of II Corps two armoured divisions. For that purpose, MRLS used the Nihonese made missile for ASTROS II. The missiles were launched at places where tanks were identified. Huge 300mm missiles upon finding themselves above the tank, fragmented, revealing five anti - tank cluster munitions, each with their own guidance systems. After breaking the munitions locked on the tanks and fell straight on them from above. Hits will occur on the tank's top, where their armour was usually weakest. While the two MRLS brigades had capability of launching 864x such munitions, which meant 4320 sub - munitions, the launched amount will depend on amount of found tank units. Mechanized infantry units will also take a beating, however tanks were priority.

At that time, the mechanized infantry and tank units already linked up with the infantry formations which earlier successfully destroyed the two infantry divisions of the communists, with minimal losses, since communists were unable to mount an effective resistance against unexpected attack. The tank units escorted also ammunition for infantry formations. After quick replenishment - since all enemy structures were here razed with the ground - the attack was to be continued. Speed was major weapon here, there was no possibility of loosing the assault speed. Grouped into two formations, the attack begun. Six infantry divisions were divided into two groups, alongside the Nam Lacian military doctrine. They will strike in "wedge" formation into two places, attempting to - with artillery support - rip the hole in the enemy lines and fortify on slopes of the wedge. Once hole is torn apart mechanized and armoured formations enter the game, quickly encircling the enemy, breaking his command and control and destroying fire support units.

The way in which the infantry formations attacked was classic "four wave" assault. Using the fact that enemy formations lacked communication - due to heavy jamming - and were mechanized and armoured, which meant that they were limited in their possibility to move in Dense jungle surrounding them. The infantry however was not limited in such way, therefore the infantry units closed on the enemy through the jungle. The attack itself was supported by artillery fire, as well as the air support of the air group consisting over 36 planes. After severe artillery bombardment from both Artillery corps unit and division's own units the attack will come; 3 infantry regiments would be focused on single enemy regiment, while the remaining two divisions would support that attack. Type 80 Bo - Hiya would prove to be useful here, raining thermometric fire from 18x such launchers belonging to 3 divisions. At first, the RONL soldiers would attempt to crawl close to the enemy positions, then attack from the close range.

The support will be also provided by the tank and mechanized regiments, which will be assigned into the centre of the wedge; they will help the major three regiments break through, then will go on raid rampage encircling the enemy and destroying his C2 network.

ORBAT - first point:

1st Echelon:
- 1st Infantry Division: 10359 / 1st Inf Corps
- 2nd Infantry Division: 10359 / 1st Inf Corps

ORBAT - air and fire support:
- 12x F15E Strike Eagle
- 16x A-4AR Fightinghawk
- 8x IAI 58 Pucara
- 12x F14 Super Tomcat (the same as with TaH - 29T, acting now as escort to the ground attack planes).
- whole 1st Artillery corps.

Of course that was not the end of the troubles. Another barrage of 48x Duvalier - 1M was launched as soon as the launchers moved to different locations, reassembled, armed their missiles and fired. 48x SRBM with thermobaric warheads targeted this time mostly ground force bases, attempting to prevent the enemy from acting. The same time the navy was leaving the ports, preparing for offensive against the enemy.

The war was continuing. God knows how will it end.
