Runner Cup Five (OOC/Signups)

The Runner Cup, now in its fifth edition, is a tournament for nations who still wish to pursue success in international association football yet did not qualify for the World Cup or the Cup of Harmony. This tournament is not WCC sanctioned, which means it will NOT boost your KBP; the KBPC formula* is used to generate ranks in this tournament.

* regular KPB except for fallowing exceptions:
1/2 of points earned last Runner Cup will be added.
1/4 of points earned two Runner Cups ago will be added.
1x points earned for last Runner Cup Playoffs will be added.
1/2x of points earned two Runner Cup Playoffs ago will be added.

Nations that participated in the latest world cup (World Cup 71), did not qualify for the World Cup proper, and were not invited to the Cup of Harmony (CoH 63) are eligible for this tournament. If the nation meets the above qualifications, a telegram will be sent to them, or if you see your name on the list you may tg me that you accept. To accept the invitation, simply state your intent to do so on this thread.

Any nation capable and willing to host this event may bid to be a host. This is a perfect event for nations wanting to stretch their wings and try hosting a small event. Last time around, the Runner Cup had 32 participants and around 10 RP's a day. All nations that have signed up by the time bids are closed may vote on which host they want. You do not need to qualify for the Runner Cup in order to host it. If you want to host but did not qualify fill out the Bid App and state you did not qualify.

Chiata's Bid for Runner Cup Five

Another World Cup Qualifying has come and gone once again. As always, the deserving do not always make the cut for a continuation of their World Cup cycle. After the WC 67 Qualifiers, the first ever Runner Cup was hosted in Chiata. Now, four cycles later, Chiata looks for the competition to return to the founder of the tournament for Runner Cup Five.

The SQIS formula on xkorinate will be used for the tournament. Tiebreaks, in order, will be points, goal difference, head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference, wins, and if necessary a playoff. Goals For was not put in the list because it some cases it can favor teams with a highly attacking modifier.

While currently sitting at 18 nations signed, it would be preferable if that number could reach 20. Regardless, if numbers hold, the format would be three groups of six. One leg would be played and all group winners and runner-ups would clinch the Quarter Finals. The two best third place teams would also make the knockout rounds. The teams would be ranked from one to eight using the above tiebreaks. From there, it is a standard eight team knockout. With 20 nations, the format would be four groups of five with the group winners and runner-ups in the Quarter Finals.

RP bonus will accumulative throughout the cup and will not be reduced come the knockout rounds. Every matchday a nation can get up to three KPBCs in RP bonus, so it will favor active and consistent RPing. As usual, quality is above quantity and all different styles will be observed. Cutoff time would be at 9:00 PM EST (1:00 AM UTC)

Should this bid be accepted, this would be the fallowing tournament schedule:

5-1: Everything thread opens
5-3: Group draw
5-6: MD1 1v6 2v5 3v4
5-7: MD2 6v4 5v3 1v2
5-8: MD3 2v6 3v1 4v5
5-9: MD4 6v5 1v4 2v3
5-10: MD5 3v6 4v2 5v1
5-12: QF 1v8 4v5 3v6 2v7
5-14: SF Q1vQ2 Q3vQ4
5-15: 3P LS1vLS2
5-16: F WS1vWS2

The above schedule used 18 teams as an example. For twenty or above, more matchdays will be added.

Since no nation submitted a host bid, I decided to try hosting this again. Bids are now closed. Send all TGs to my puppet Carialus. There are two options 1. vote for Chiata 2. Re-open Bids

Thus, Chiata will host Runner Cup Five. Note that signups have now reached twenty participants, so the format will be four groups of five. Top two of each group will advance to Qurater Finals. Regular knockouts from there.

The group draw will be moved to Thursday(tomorrow) due to RL events. This shouldn't effect things too much since there will still be three days between the draw and the first matchday.

I'm going to wait two more days to allow more time for RP and rosters. and because I've been swamped with unexpected tasks
Tomorrow the schedule will be updated, matches will be listed, and different cutoff times will be added to some days. Matchday 1 will start Tuesday.
