February the Nineth, Two-Thousand and Fifteen

"Yesterday Prime Minister Franz Szalinski of the Democratic Republic of Rengalia gave a speech in celebration of the nation's independence."

"...Sixty-six years ago this very day, our neighbors, family, friends, ancestors and more, all came together to form a new republic. This would not be any new nation. It would be a nation for a people without land, protection or strife. This republic was founded upon the idea that all men are united in their humanity, and that their destiny shall be shaped by their own efforts rather than by the envies and manipulations of others..."

"The Democratic Republic of Rengalia was a witness and victim to Nazi atrocities during World War II before becoming an independent state and riding itself of it's puppet government. Since that it's peoples and government have embraced Communist and Socialist ideals and policies while rebuilding the nation. Though in his own word's the Prime Minister noted that the day should be remembered as a time of the Rengalians achievements rather then just their struggles."

"...I realize that there must be a focus on not just the struggles of our people…but also the achievements of our people. You have shown me that no matter what happens, there is still always time for generosity and kindness..."

"..we stand here today as a united people. Our economy is triumphing in many avenues, while the lowest among us are not much different in wealth or status than those who could be seen as the highest..."

"The Prime Minister went on to extend an invitation to nations around the world in joining Rengalia in celebrating it's independence. He noted wishing to build diplomatic and economic relations through trade."

"...By building trade, diplomacy, friendship and solidarity among our fellow nations, perhaps we could find ourselves in a world where everyone shall be equal in standing. Perhaps, as we have found ourselves here in Rengalia, united in turmoil, triumphant in action, and grounded in truth and justice, perhaps we could find these qualities of life in the rest of this world..."

"While there has been no official announcement made by the Council of Chiefs, hearsay that has made it's way out of the state councils declare that Chief I'halla Dun'takia, Voice to the Foreign or Head of Foreign Affairs, has called for a full meeting of the Chiefs in the current capital of So'mun, Spa'ria to discuss taking Prime Minister Szalinski up on his offer. While again no official announcement has been made political party leaders have not held their own breath in patience."

"Most notable of comments made in opposition came from the Return to Isolationism Party (RIP) speaker, and S'kiah Council member, Un'tunda H'tvia."

"...to attempt diplomatic relations, even trade relations, with a state such as the Democratic Republic of Rengalia is to open our doors to an ideological cesspool which would attempt to infringe upon the Insulan peoples' culture and way of life. While assuredly Socialism and Communism are not inherently evil their policies would proceed to chip away at everything that makes our people unique from the world, and even one another..."

"...and you can be assured that there will be a time when they seek advantage to pressure us into their way of thinking. And I ask you what then?"

"Of course on the other end of the political spectrum members of the International Integration Party were quite pleased with the idea that the federal government is taking further steps to increase international relations. Ambassador Sie'rana Zei'fala'nom spoke on behalf of many of his colleagues."

"...the Council of Chiefs taking more aggressive measures to establish relations with foreign nations can only lead to benefits for the Confederacy as a whole. While progress in modernization has not come to a halt it has severely slowed since 1940 after cutting ties with Imperial Japan, and that is due to our inability to trust any other nation since. It's been 75 years and a new millennium has come, the world around us has changed and it's time for us to join it...

"When asked what they thought of the idea of diplomatic relations with the Democratic Republic of Rengalia, citizen's opinions varied just as widely as politicians though there seemed to be a centrist agreement that relations could possibly quicken the already rapidly expanding tourism market for better or worse. One college student, majoring in International Relations at Tia'co'ronda University of Pru'dana, had this to say."

"The Rengalian peoples could easily prove to be valuable future allies encase of conflict. Despite their political ideologies they have shown they are a peoples who are more then willing to stand up for rights of not just themselves, but others. They showed this when they created the "Palestinian Liberation Adviser Program" and sent military aid to the Palestinians in 1968 and despite recent international opposition pressure they have not only seen fit to reinstate this program, but also embargo Isreal itself. Those are the types of people you make friends with, someone willing to stand up for you against all odds. To pass this opportunity up would be a mistake.

February the Eleventh, Two-Thousand and Fifteen

"Yesterday a militia group known as the Kataeb Al-Sawha Al-Arabiyah, or the Arab Awaking Brigade, released a video message in which they seemingly have declared themselves in conflict with the extremist group known as the Islamic State. We have the tap to play in whole, but we caution our viewers. It depicts the death of a man burned alive."

"Greetings, dear world:

I am speaking to you on behalf of Arab Awakening Brigades, speaking to you tonight on behalf of whole Arab nation. For too long those who claim to believe in Prophet Mu`ammad, Peace be upon his name, have terrorized our lands, prohibiting everything besides their jihad, raping our women, trying to divide us, killing us and dividing us along our ethnic lines. We now, after we have arisen, see clear conspiracy here; conspiracy to enslave Arab lands by greedy monarchs from the Gulf, from kingdoms such as Saudi Arabia or UAE. We are aware that through their greed and willingness to destroy us these pest on our soil caused countless wars and made countless counties fragmentate. They take prophet's name in vain, turn on other people of the book, rape, plunder, pillage and kill every of us who disagrees with they quest for power in our lands.

That is why we, the Arab Awakening brigades, who captured Mohammed Al-Aziz, who is well known Islamic State leader, decided today that his pity excuse for life ends now and here. We won't tolerate this pest on our lands. They will all sooner or later die, and we, the Arab Awakening Brigades, will ensure it! ALLAHU AKBAR!"

The man speaking then proceeds to pour oil his captive before lighting him ablaze with a torch. Flames quickly engulf the kneeling man. A piercing and painful scream the only sound heard until the video cuts thirty seconds later.

"It has been confirmed publicly by the American Central Intelligence Agency that the man burned alive was indeed Mohammed Al-Aziz, a leader of the Islamic State. While religious tensions have been the cause of multiple internal conflicts in the middle east, this new group claims to be directly opposed to such ideas. We managed to obtain the Protector of the Way, or Head of Culture and Religion, Chief Cris'tley Un'nalie's opinion on the matter."

"...the violence and conflict in the middle east is why none of the Abrahamic religions [Islam, Christianity, & Judaism] are recognized in any official way here in the Native Confederacy. The simple fact is that while they claim to promote peace, but these claims are false pretense. For peace through unopposed tyranny is an ignorant delusion...

...now we have a group here that has taken it upon itself to fight back. That is action that deserves respect. Maybe burning the man or even making his death a public show was a tad overboard, but it proved a point, and that was they are willing to use the same tactics as their enemy is for victory...

...there is only one flaw I find in the AAB and that is belief in some greater conspiracy. Fire only begets more fire. The Islamic State created the conditions for this new blaze that threatens to extinguish them. But again fire only begets more fire. If the AAB is successful I'm sure the movement won't end there. They will take their ideas to the next level and entice war with their kin in wealthier middle eastern states I'm sure..."

"The Chieftain also pointed out that the internal and external affairs of another country, so long as there was no direct or immediate threat to the states or their peoples, was not the concern of the Native Confederacy. In other news across the world..."

February the Thirteenth, Two-Thousand and Fifteen

"Four days ago a militant group in the Republic of Vorkaant, a state known for its apartheid policies, known as the Die Vyfde Weermag, or The Fifth Army, performed a violent and successful coup against the government within the nation's capital of Vuur. Using both military and non-military equipment the militia group began multiple firefights with police forces and the military organization known as the Republican Guard. The battle for the city has been said to of lasted up to seven hours or longer, and while there are no hard number for causalities on either side pictures released by British surveillance drones depict that both sides took heavy losses with civilians suffering the worse. During the attack on the city the Die Vyfde Weermag also managed to motor bomb and infiltrate the Palace of the Lions, the residence and possible governmental headquarters of President Blaise Opoud. Again released pictures by British intelligence show heavy loses suffered by both sides though it has been confirmed that the palace is under the control of the militants. The fate of President Opoud is still unknown. We took the time to interview multiple Insulan military tacticians on the mater including Director La'bei'tira J'soien of the Institute of Confederate Intelligence, Pru'dana Branch, and General R'iosl'ta Ciar'vita of the S'kiah Res Publica Legionum."

*General R'iosl'ta Ciar'vita*

"...it was an inevitable event in a state such as Vorkaant. If not a militant coup then a civil rebellion or unrest would of eventual brought about a similar outcome. We see it all the time when states separate their peoples into differing groups, no matter the reason of separation. When the 'majority' rules they often find ways to exhort power for awhile longer, but in this case there was absolutely no hope of the government keeping control in their chosen way. The biggest factor now would be finding out the militants aspirations now that they've assumed command. Do they want to bring about a more just system or are they just going to turn the tide in a misguided sense of revenge, like what happened between the Tutsi and Hutu groups in Rawanda. No matter what their attempting to do population control in this time will be crucial for them..."

*Director La'bei'tira J'soien*

...the whole event is unfortunate. There are plenty of nations out there that set the example for what will most likely happen to Vorkaant. A great example is Somalia. One warlord has destabilized the country and while he may think all his men are loyal to him, they will eventually find him just as corrupt as those they ousted. Splinter groups will form and more warlords will rise until each of the groups are at each other's throats. Of course it will be the people who suffer the most as they begin to lose modern conveniences such a plumbing and electricity. Eventually it will all devolve into anarchy and the failed state will become a burden to its neighbors..."

"The Council of Chiefs has already placed out a warning to ship companies that they should avoid using any water ways near the area as safety precaution. It has also been noted that citizens abroad or thinking of traveling abroad should be cautious when choosing to visit any nearby nations. We will continue to update you with news on the situation as we receive information in the future...."

February the Eighteenth, Two-Thousand and Fifteen

[Black Screen, White Text Appears] "Dorians, this was the right decision. Cuscatlán wants nothing evil towards you. We do not want to destroy you nor enslave you. We wish the Dorians all the best! Glory to Guadalupador and God bless!"- Alvaro Feierra D'Cruz, Former Caudillo of Gran Cuscatlan [Quote Fades Out]
[First Video Clip Plays] A woman is dragged out of her house, and into the street by two Ministry of State Security Officers by her hair and thrown down to the ground. The higher ranked officer yells at her. English subtitles read: "You're an enemy of the Counter-Revolution, and the State! You don't deserve a trial!" The Officer pulls out his pistol, and holds it to her temple, he is seen pulling the trigger. [Video Clip Cuts Off]
[Fade To Black Screen. Fragment of Quote Appears Again:] "Dorians, this was the right decision." [Video Clip 2 Begins With Quote Overlayed Over it.] The Clip shows the brutal suppression of peaceful protesters and and the Flardanian Embassy Raid by the Cuscatlani BOEP. People are being beaten by BOEP troops, while some are being dragged away to be detained. [As Video Plays, Second Part Of Quote Appears on Screen]
"Cuscatlán wants nothing evil towards you." The video continues, as people document the aftermath of the raid, people are lying on the ground, injured, and possibly dead, puddles of blood and broken police batons are littered across the street, the camera pans over towards the ruined gates of the raided embassy, where hundreds of Dorians trying to find political asylum in Flardania were captured and arrested.
[Fade to Black, Cuscatlani National Anthem Begins Playing] As Cara al Sol plays, a short clip of the Cuscatlani Flag waving over the Airport fades into a gray filter, the Cuscatlani National Anthem gets slower and slower, as pictures of atrocities committed by the SSM flash on the screen. As well as several clips of the Tragenbergan desecration of the Bethuana War Memorial, and several quick pictures of mutilated body parts floating down the River Guadala. [Text Appears On Screen in Dorian and English:] "Is this what you meant?" [More Pictures Flash Across the Screen, Getting Increasingly Graphic.] Audio from a Raul Martinez Speech is played as the pictures and short video clips flash across the screen: "Sometimes, Democracy must be drowned in Blood." [Subtitles in Dorian and English are Provided]
[Final Video Clip Plays] A Group of Riysan soldiers start shooting injured and dead Dorian soldiers in the head after a firefight. [Fades to Black, but the audio of the Riysan rifles firing can still be heard.] Text comes across the screen: "You're Lying Gran Cuscatlan. You're really here to enslave us, and shove your culture upon us. We will not have any of it!"
[End of Video]

"This video, entitled as 'Is This What You Meant',has been circulating on popular social media sites for the past few days now. The images shown depict the forces of multiple nations that declare themselves as part of SACTO, the Santiago Anti Communist Treaty Organisation, committing 'crimes against humanity' while occupying the nation of Guadalupador. A group known as Libres Novos has taken credit for smuggling the video out of the occupied nation and releasing it to the public.

Natalya Saito, the Premier of Guadalapador and head of the exiled government, gave comment from Flardania in support of Libres Novos and the citizens fight against the SACTO forces. The High Queen of Arcadonisia released a public comment in condemnation against SACTO for its action declaring the group has violated the Dorian peoples' right to self determination of government. Grand Cuscatlan has released its own propaganda video in response and instead of declaring innocence has instead noted that they did not start said conflict. Despite giving refuge to the exiled Guadalapador government and having its embassy raided the Flardanian government itself seems divided on the issue seemingly having allies on each end.

Due to the lack of media participation in the conflict the facts of the conflict are quite blurred and public reaction has been very little. There of course has been no statement made by the Council of Chiefs on the matter, and each state government has been just as quite. Despite that there is a small group of citizens in Rult'unda proposing to petition the state government to give political refuge to citizens of Guadalupador who'd been abroad or are wandering. While the group is supposedly politically non-aligned analyst already believe there will be a backlash from conservative parties.

We'll have more for you if this story progresses..."

February the Twenty-Second, Two-Thousand and Fifteen

"On February eleventh we brought you a story about a militant group known as the Kataeb Al-Sawha Al-Arabiyah, or the Arab Awaking Brigade. Well it seems the AAB's belief in Arab national unity has spread been spreading rapidly through the middle east. As of February nineteenth General Mohammed Ali Al-Nashid of Bashria instigated a coup against President Jafar Al-Hafez. Ali Al-Nashid's forces and the militias ravaged through the nations capital in a day leaving. Even after securing the city they preceded with executions of communist aligned politicians and citizens considered loyal to the government. Among those executed President Al-Hafez was shot on live broadcast by General Al-Nashid himself. After all was said and done the General gave a speech."

"Today we rise again as one nation, in the face of betrayal and corruption! We all trusted Jafar Al-Hafez to deliver our great nation into a new era of prosperity. But like our monarchy before the Revolution, he has been colluding with foreign cabals with only self-interest at heart! Collusion breeds slavery! And we shall not be enslaved! The time has come to show our true strength. They underestimate our resolve. Let us show that we do not fear them. As one people we shall free our brethren from the yoke of foreign oppression! Our armies are strong and our cause is just.

As I speak, our armies are nearing their objectives, by which we will restore the independence of a once great nation. Our noble crusade has begun. Just as they lay waste to our country, we shall lay waste to theirs. This is how it begins. We will throw down the shackles of Communism and Socialism and accept the new ideology of the Bashrian Arab Awakening Party part of a greater Arab Awakening that began in our brother country Riysa

This is an ideology that respects the will of the people without false utopian lies. We will unify the Middle East under fair governance. Sunni and Shia Muslims, Jews and Christians need to keep together as Arabs.

Allahu Akbar, Arabs Unite!"

"Despite claiming to be building his new government on the ideas of democracy and 'Arab Awakening', the acceptance of all Arabs despite differing beliefs and ideology, militants that followed General Al-Nashid, and presumably still do, are still seeking out and battling holdouts of the defunct government. The General and his government have also recently publicly invited foreign nationalist to come to his nation in order to receive 'anti-communist insurgency' training. There has also been a notable lack of public announcements or political talks showing the actual forming of a democratic system or even a governmental constitution, leaving the nation currently run by the military and all power seemingly consolidated under Al-Nashid himself.

After taking notice of the coup it seems High Priestess T'iet'lla Dun'takia, head of Ecclesiae Ferre Deae, took the time to personal write Mohammed Ali Al-Nashid. She graciously took the time to talk to us about it."

"...I will read the letter excatly as written

Allow me first to give you and your peoples praise for freeing yourselves from the corruption you all found yourselves under. It takes courage, willpower, and incredible mental strength to stand up for one's self and other. But also allow me to give you my condolences, as I am sure it was a disheartening task to take the actions you deemed necessary against your own kindred peoples and I hope that such actions no longer be needed.

Know that today I write you not as a representative of my religion, but simple as an advocate of peace and prosperity. In this moment while passions flare I would urge you to temper your people. You have made your show of force and you have won, now is the time to show that you mean to keep true to words of unity as an Arab peoples. Just as you noted that not all of you share the same spiritual beliefs not all of you will share the same political ideology. Realize that not all those who believed in the communist and socialist system were the same corrupt being as Jafar Al-Hafez himself. Unite your peoples despite their opposing beliefs by offering those who would still stand against you an opportunity to join in the rebuilding of the nation and allowing then a future voice. Such an act would surely bring a swifter end to any continued conflict allowing you and your peoples and their nation to realize their dream sooner then later.

And as you sit and ask yourself "Who is this stranger that would advise me so?" Know that my peoples, the Insulan peoples, hail from a total of twenty-three different tribes. We vary much in our opinions on how things should be done, but we've realized the dream of unity by assuring all have a voice and that none may ever fear being oppressed or suppressed by another. Here's hoping you take my words into deep consideration.

(Link to Actual Letter)

I wrote this letter in hopes that the man truly meant to hold to his ideology of a united Arab peoples. I advocated to him that peace could only come through the tolerance of all political ideologies as well as religious beliefs, noting to him that not all those who advocate communistic and socialist policies are villains or corrupt. I advised that he stopped executions and instead offer those from the past regime a place in the new democracy he claims to be building. That allowing them a voice would not only bring peace quicker, but in turn begin to bring his nation into the prosperity they seek. I even used our own people as an example of this. I've yet to receive any response, but the General's current actions cause me to believe that even if he has yet to see my words they will have no effect on him. For the sake of peace I do hope otherwise..."
