February the Nineth, Two-Thousand and Fifteen
"Yesterday Prime Minister Franz Szalinski of the Democratic Republic of Rengalia gave a speech in celebration of the nation's independence."
"...Sixty-six years ago this very day, our neighbors, family, friends, ancestors and more, all came together to form a new republic. This would not be any new nation. It would be a nation for a people without land, protection or strife. This republic was founded upon the idea that all men are united in their humanity, and that their destiny shall be shaped by their own efforts rather than by the envies and manipulations of others..."
"The Democratic Republic of Rengalia was a witness and victim to Nazi atrocities during World War II before becoming an independent state and riding itself of it's puppet government. Since that it's peoples and government have embraced Communist and Socialist ideals and policies while rebuilding the nation. Though in his own word's the Prime Minister noted that the day should be remembered as a time of the Rengalians achievements rather then just their struggles."
"...I realize that there must be a focus on not just the struggles of our people…but also the achievements of our people. You have shown me that no matter what happens, there is still always time for generosity and kindness..."
"..we stand here today as a united people. Our economy is triumphing in many avenues, while the lowest among us are not much different in wealth or status than those who could be seen as the highest..."
"The Prime Minister went on to extend an invitation to nations around the world in joining Rengalia in celebrating it's independence. He noted wishing to build diplomatic and economic relations through trade."
"...By building trade, diplomacy, friendship and solidarity among our fellow nations, perhaps we could find ourselves in a world where everyone shall be equal in standing. Perhaps, as we have found ourselves here in Rengalia, united in turmoil, triumphant in action, and grounded in truth and justice, perhaps we could find these qualities of life in the rest of this world..."
"While there has been no official announcement made by the Council of Chiefs, hearsay that has made it's way out of the state councils declare that Chief I'halla Dun'takia, Voice to the Foreign or Head of Foreign Affairs, has called for a full meeting of the Chiefs in the current capital of So'mun, Spa'ria to discuss taking Prime Minister Szalinski up on his offer. While again no official announcement has been made political party leaders have not held their own breath in patience."
"Most notable of comments made in opposition came from the Return to Isolationism Party (RIP) speaker, and S'kiah Council member, Un'tunda H'tvia."
"...to attempt diplomatic relations, even trade relations, with a state such as the Democratic Republic of Rengalia is to open our doors to an ideological cesspool which would attempt to infringe upon the Insulan peoples' culture and way of life. While assuredly Socialism and Communism are not inherently evil their policies would proceed to chip away at everything that makes our people unique from the world, and even one another..."
"...and you can be assured that there will be a time when they seek advantage to pressure us into their way of thinking. And I ask you what then?"
"Of course on the other end of the political spectrum members of the International Integration Party were quite pleased with the idea that the federal government is taking further steps to increase international relations. Ambassador Sie'rana Zei'fala'nom spoke on behalf of many of his colleagues."
"...the Council of Chiefs taking more aggressive measures to establish relations with foreign nations can only lead to benefits for the Confederacy as a whole. While progress in modernization has not come to a halt it has severely slowed since 1940 after cutting ties with Imperial Japan, and that is due to our inability to trust any other nation since. It's been 75 years and a new millennium has come, the world around us has changed and it's time for us to join it...
"When asked what they thought of the idea of diplomatic relations with the Democratic Republic of Rengalia, citizen's opinions varied just as widely as politicians though there seemed to be a centrist agreement that relations could possibly quicken the already rapidly expanding tourism market for better or worse. One college student, majoring in International Relations at Tia'co'ronda University of Pru'dana, had this to say."
"The Rengalian peoples could easily prove to be valuable future allies encase of conflict. Despite their political ideologies they have shown they are a peoples who are more then willing to stand up for rights of not just themselves, but others. They showed this when they created the "Palestinian Liberation Adviser Program" and sent military aid to the Palestinians in 1968 and despite recent international opposition pressure they have not only seen fit to reinstate this program, but also embargo Isreal itself. Those are the types of people you make friends with, someone willing to stand up for you against all odds. To pass this opportunity up would be a mistake.
"We'll have more you on this subject, should it develop. In other news..."
