What's your position on the US Civil War? Who was in the right, who was in the wrong? Cause of the war? Was it a civil war at all, or a war between two disparate nations who once shared a government? What about the performance of the respective sides in the war? And other such topics that we might veer off on, major and minor.

Union supporter here in a big way. Both sides were undoubtedly flawed from our modern perspective, but I'm of the opinion that the South was worse in essentially every conceivable way.

So? What do you fine ladies and gentlemen of NSG think?

I take part in reenactments. On the Confederate side....cause ya know.....I would not want the Union to burn my home down. So, would try to keep em away. That is about as much as I am inclined to say at the moment.

I've been anti-Confederate for a while.

Within the far-right community, I've taken some heat for being such an ardent supporter of the Union, and if necessary, I will argue how the Confederacy was a net harm for American whites, and had it been allowed to win, the result would have been disastrous for both sides.

I'm also an American nationalist, which means I support the political unity of the American nation, and I will fight those who wish to divide it for the sake of using enslaved labor, which would have enriched themselves and hurt their fellow Americans.

Contrary to what many white nationalists say, the Confederate government was incredibly anti-white, often screwing over the common people out of work and wealth by using slaves (which was a crime in its own right). Meanwhile, the glorious Union government was clearing a frontier for our posterity.

You are an American, and being a rich asshole from South Carolina doesn't change that. I wish Andrew Jackson brutally crushed them during Nullification, preventing the Civil War entirely.

So yeah, we will live and die together in the Army of the Free.

Washington, Jefferson, and Franklin did not struggle to see their beloved nation torn apart by traitorous Southerners, Copperheads, and various other forms of treasonous scum. Even though I think Robert E. Lee was a swell guy, and certain Union lads were deplorable assholes, the traitors were undoubtedly in the wrong. My only sorrow about the Civil War is that Lincoln was assassinated and Johnson, a Southerner and a Democrat, let the South get off easily after the war.

Both sides had legitimate reasons for their actions, but both also were full of shit, in my opinion. Of course, as a Southerner, I tend to sympathize with the CSA to an extent. I by no means agree with slavery, however, the Union and Lincoln are unjustly romanticized in history as some sort of righteous defenders of "freedom". Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation was nothing more than propaganda to rouse the Union into a spirit of war, and appeal to its liberal sentiments.


Oh yeah and before anyone tries implying I have some sort of "white chauvinism" or whatever, let me set one thing straight....I'm not white.

The South represented excessive conservatism and a reactionary mindset to the progress of the North. However, they did favor political decentralization, even if it was for somewhat nefarious intentions like preserving slavery. I would not have supported slavery or the social conservatism of the Confederacy, but I would have definitely worked within it to decentralize power to the local community. The North was decades ahead of the South socially, which was undeniably for the better. However, they favored a more authoritarian political system that I would not have supported at all, and I would most likely have opposed the war altogether, making me an enemy of the Union, as they didn't take to kindly to anti-war activists.

I probably would have left and moved to Britain or Canada if I was around during the war. Both of the sides sucked. The only thing that saves the North from criticism is it's historical context.
