The Rise of Squeeheart (IC, Steampunk (Mainly), & Ponies!)

Postby Squeeheart » Sun Dec 21, 2014 3:14 am

OOC Link: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=323952

With the rise of the sun, so too does the smiles of everypony in Squeeheart. The foundation of their nation is this very day, December 21st. Almost all businesses are closed, and the ones that aren't have their own gimmicks to celebrate this national holiday. This day will be especially grand with demonstrations from military officials, who have recently been receiving overwhelming support by the Monarch. Marching parades in every city, zeppelins in the skies firing off their fireworks, propaganda posters decorating almost every wall, and to top it off the Monarch has plans later on in the week to reveal among visiting nations her new foreign policies. It remains unknown to the public exactly what her goals are, but they are certain future military intervention is inevitable.

Despite the army numbers soaring as of late and causing criminal activities to sink, the worries of consequences bring fear among political analysts. These critics suspect any use of the military will lead to forming enemies with terrorists or worse, other nations including possibly the visiting countries for this weekly celebration. The Monarch rest assures the populace the chances of striking now would be foolish, but there is still heavy criticism considering nopony even knows what her exact plans are.

Outside of Applecore, the capital city of Squeeheart, is a flat area of land to the Southwest. A military base called Saddler Fort has been established and has several political officials around here. Said officials are awaiting the arrival of foreign leaders and ambassadors, who will join them aboard a train off to visit Monarch Jazz Squeeheart in her home up the mountains to Applecore. The ambassadors are to arrive specifically at this base, as the land is flat and wide enough for any airborn vehicles to land safely. The land is also elevated high enough and close enough to the ocean so foreigners arriving by waters may reach this location quickly as well.

Aside from the rules stated in the OOC thread, there is one thing I'd like to point out here: Although Squeeheart's ponies do follow compulsory nudity laws, this will not apply to the ambassadors. In short, your characters do not have to be nude if they don't wish to be. If they choose to follow those laws though, do remember the other rules and keep all discussions appropriate.

A Bell 212 helicopter was heading towards Saddler Fort. The helicopter, which has left the Novaya Equestria, a Novaya Equestria-class aircraft carrier that has been stationed off the coast of Squeeheart, was carrying Reichspraesident Borealis Trident Mir Sparkler-Honeymoon and Vizepraesident Ushanka Mosin Starkovsky - two members of the Imperial Council of the Imperial Military State of Novaya Equestria. "Saddler Fort, this Helium 1, we're heading towards you guys. Recommended not to engage us; we have Borealis and Ushanka on-board. I repeat: Borealis and Ushanka were on-board the aircraft. Borealis and Ushanka aren't bringing weapons. I say again: they're not bringing weapons. Permission to land on the helipad, over?" Helium One, the callsign for the pilot of the Bell 212 helicopter, said.

Simple example: Did you have to choose between cornflakes and bread for breakfast today?
No matter what you chose, the Multiversial Theory says, that there is a universe out there, where the other option was chosen. It is the same with history and technology.
Who knows - maybe out there is a universe, where we don't live in peace and hamony with our land, but covered it in smelly industry and machines running on steam with half a biollion people living here?

    - Professor Lenora Foghlaí of the Tribe of Wicklow, Faculty for Theoretical Physics, University of Silverport, in a lecture about the Multiversial Theory.

The man had short hair, wearing his uniform with much backbone. He was tall, so that the half-skirt around the waist wasn't even close to the ground.
He was Captain Finnegan Dobharchu, proud Captain of the airship Wicklow, named after one of the fifteen tribes of the Selkie in ancient times. He wasn't really interested in these old stories, told by professors at some university or the other to courses of diminishing size, while students of law and engineering, science and technology were becoming more and more.
Why shouldn't they? There were around fivehundred million Selkie within the City-Republics of the Selkie and they needed to be fed and put to work.
One option for that were the ever-growing armed forces, the Air Force with their mighty airships, the Army with their infantry and cavalry, the Navy with their mighty Dreadnoughts. Captain Dobharchu was Captain of the Air Force, commander of an air-cruiser and her three escorts, the air-destroyers Silverport and Tipa, as well as the prototype of a new generation of skyborne military projection, the 'flying aircraft carrier' Sabre (no one really knew, what to do with these ships, but they would find out sooner or later - until then, he would see the Wicklow's 20.3cm L/60 guns as his main force projector). He was proud of that, as were his crews, which called him "Captain Fin".
And now, he was approaching Squeeheart, a formerly relatively isolated nation, with a diplomatic mission onboard:
Mister Giacomo Fionnachtaí of Minia, Ambassador of the Selkie, an inventor and a man mostly covered in soot and grime, when he wasn't prim and proper. The Wicklow and her fourteen sister-ships were his construction, their main force, the four large heliocopters sitting on her flight deck, were his invention.
He was a genius: The new ship design, where the baloon went from a single large, heavily armoured mass above the ships to a series of smaller, armoured packages forming two belts around the waistline of the ship without hindering the firing arcs of the secondary artillery, combined with a new gas for uplift, was his.
Unfortunately, he was as anti-social as inventors and geniusses got, so he wasn't a nice man to be in the company of.
The other half of the diplomatic mission, Miss Lenora Foghlaí, was another question. She was as intelligent as she was beautiful, the Chief of the Rovers, a special segment of the government under the direct control of the City Council. They were diplomats, merchants, soldiers and many other things, but not many of them were generally known - she was one exception.
As a Rover, she was also a traditionalist. While the genius wore a light waistcoat, a dark coat above that with a vivdly painted tie and short hair, groomed to be the best, she wore the traditional Geansai, clothing from days long passed. By coincidence, she had explained, she was of the Tribe of Wicklow and wore the corresponding clothes.
And so, the airship Wicklow approached Squeeheart on a diplomatic mission. Within the next hour, they would pass the border above the sea. Within the next half hour or so, the Sabre would launch one of her planes and would use it as a messanger with a nicely worded letter:
Good day, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Captain Finnegan Dobharchu of the Air Force of the United City Republics of the Selkie, Captain of the vessel Wicklow, transporting the ambassadors Miss Lenora Foghlaí and Mister Giacomo Fionnachtaí of Minia, requests of you the permission to enter the airspace of Squeeheart and approach Saddler Fort. Be advised, that the Wicklow is an airwarship, as are her escorts, and therefore also requests permission to fire salutes and how many should be fired.
The arrival of the diplomats was already approved by each other's ministries of foreign affairs or equivalents.

The plane was painted completely in white, was completely unarmed and was a biplane. There were more dangerous things in the world, so the Captain was quite positive, that no one would shoot them down.

"Sir, latest intelligence report from Squeeheart is in!"

The Chancellor of the Armed Republic, Silver Star, raises his head. Taking the paper, the pegasus looked it over, slightly alarmed by the amount of militarization that Squeeheart has undergone. Of course, the Republic had been doing much of the same, but the irony of the situation did not impress upon him.

"That settles it," he says. "I have to attend this council they are doing."
"Sir, wouldn't it be better is you sent an ambassador...?"
"No," says the Chancellor, firmly. "I have to go. Prepare my plane."
The aide, knowing that the Chancellor's mind was made up, decided not to argue.

The aeroplane was Harmony One, commissioned less than a month ago. This would be the first time it ever left the Armed Republic. Equipped with two forward-facing guns and three rotating turrets, each with their own gunner, it is the heaviest-armed plane in the fleet. It is capable of carrying up to ten ponies as passengers. Hoping to not send the wrong impression, though, the Chancellor ordered it be stripped of all its ammo before the voyage began.

The plane, as it approaches Saddler Fort, radios: Air control, this is Harmony One, requesting permission to land, over.

Chancellor's Palace
Reko
Otulia

The capital glimmered, a shining silver light in the distance, from Thoughtful Regrets' lovely window-side office. Despite the Federal Parliament being out of session, Regrets was keeping up with various problems, from "humanitarian" aid to other countries, to overseeing the construction of a fourth and fifth aircraft carrier for the country, to helping draft a landmark civil rights bill that would give kobolds the right to vote. However, it had been a rather quiet week, and so, when the Foreign Minister, Leaping Distances, came in uninvited, Chancellor regrets didn't immediately shoo him away.

"Yes, Mr Distances?" the Chancellor said distractedly, signing a backdated appropriations bill to create an 8% income tax, to make up for falling oil revenues.

The changeling Foreign Minister, one of several Changeling Party appointees under the new Coalition Government, bowed to her slightly, a certain greenish mist stirring around his pitch black body, largely undistinguished from most other changelings, save for a few distinct markers visible only to other changelings. The Chancellor, elected on the Animal Party ticket as a moderate candidate, waited.

"Ms Chancellor, as you're aware, we haven't been very active in foreign affairs of late. You are, of course, aware of the nation Squeeheart?"

"Yes, Mr Distances, will you go on?"

"Well, Madame, since you haven't been very busy here at home, I thought it would be prudent to have you come and help use establish new alliances. In particular, we believe that this new nation might possibly require petrol, which would certainly help boost revenues." The recent decline in gas prices, while not hurting the economy, had reminded Otulians of how close the country was to recession, and the 8% income tax she'd just signed wouldn't be too popular with a country that had been tax-free since the 90s.

"Well, presumably, it couldn't hurt, and, anyways, I've heard DC was getting gloomy, so I was probably going to be visiting him anyways. Very well, rouse the poor boy, get the group ready, and we'll be on our way by... tomorrow, Mr Distances?"

"Yes, tomorrow, Ms Chancellor."

"Very good, dismissed." And with the military order, the exchange was finished, and Regrets was left to ponder what she should pack.

Silver Star International Airport
Reko
Otulia

Silver Star, named after the current Pony Princess, was a rather odd airport. Since the state-owned airline monopoly, DragAir, used solely dragons for transport, and dragons could land and takeoff almost vertically, long, space-consuming runways were unnecessary, and the medium-sized terminals were surrounded mostly be clean, grass-covered clearings, with the occasional maintenance crew working around the clock to keep the airport staffed. Just outside the main terminal, an angry group of frequent flyers was protesting a recent Ministry of Transportation decision (which Regrets had let go through) which raised the airfare for domestic flights from Tl5.50 to Tl6.75 [$1.50 = Tl1.00]. However, the Chancellorial Hangar was on the far side of the airport, and, on the one-pony dragons usually used for a quick intercity hop, Regrets flew over the main terminal and directly to the massive, orange-and-white hangar, which housed DC.

As the Chancellor landed, a maintenance worker, a pony, came up to her. "Madame, you'll want to go inside, we've barely managed to keep him from going after you." DC had been raised from his birth, only a few months ago, to be utterly loyal and devoted to Regrets. His egg had been incubated at 0 Celsius, inside a soundless chamber, until she'd been elected, and, after election, she was the only one present when the room was heated up, and DC was forever attached to her. Every retired Chancellor had to go into the hills, with their own DCs.

In this case, DC stood for "Sky Dragon," or, in Italian, "Drago Celeste," DC, who was the Chancellorial transport, and absolutely massive. The colossal hangar, about the size of one of the smaller airport terminals, was stuffed with yellow-orange scales, tapering down to an eagerly-watching head with massive, innocent blue eyes. His growth spurt passed, DC's weight remained a steady 153 tons, nearly twice that of the second-largest Jeweled Sapphire breed, and, at that particular moment, all 153 tons of dragon was focused on one changeling.

"MAMMA!!!" DC screamed in delight, rendering Regrets nearly deaf, as he moved his talons forward to crush her in a joyful embrace. "It's been so long, Mamma," he repeated, possessively drawing the Chancellor closer and closer to his massive breast, eyes full of affection and desire. Regrets gladly returned the childish gaze.

"I know, DC, I know," she replied, stretching out her arms, hopelessly trying to encircle the Sequoia-thick neck that formed the base of the eager face staring down at here. Then, she was bombarded with the massive, heavy, slobbery tongue, drowning in a sea of saliva as DC obsessively licked her. When he was satisfied, he gave a nod, then, drawing Regrets in closer, said, "I love you Mamma."

Regrets could barely manage a smile. "I love you to, big boy." A small speck rolled down her cheek, catching the afternoon sun on it.

Several Hours Later
Approaching Saddler Fort
Squeeheart

After a continuous flight in the comfortable cabin atop DC's back, rigged specifically for voyages like this, Regrets was glad for the tedious traveling to be over, and waited while the radioponies hailed Saddler Fort for landing of the massive beast, observable from some distance off.

A helicopter flew overhead Saddler Fort, and slowly descending. Troops are well aware the helicopter isn't a threat, but their training insists they keep an eye on the craft just in case. The troops are quick to take note the aircraft is indeed from Novaya Equestria, and their presence for the celebrations are well expected.

Radio: Roger that, Helium 1, you are clear for landing, over.

The landing pads aren't too far from the train station, but distanced enough to where some walking is needed. When Borealis steps out of the helicopter, some of the troops respectfully bow, and when they look up there is somewhat of a shock on their face. They didn't know the leader of Novaya happened to be a winged unicorn. Everyone but the sergeant is distracted with awe, himself maintaining a strict attitude. He chooses to escort Novaya Equestria's leaders to the train station, insisting it is warmer there and the train will be here soon.

Another ship arrived just in time, this time from the Ponies for a United Equestria. This ship also reaches Saddler Fort with little trouble, and their crew are all escorted to the train station. While visiting, all diplomats notice something rather odd about Squeeheart's military: The lack of clothes. In fact the only things these troops were wearing are kaiser helmets with the Squeeheart symbol at the top, winter-camouflage scarves, and of course the traditional battle saddles. No doubt the equipment and intentions of this military are questionable if they're willing to forgo even simplistic modesty let alone body armor. It is remarkable though these soldiers can stand in the snow and shiver on rather rare occasions.

While waiting for the train to arrive, the troops of Squeeheart also await the arrival of Otulia's aircraft. Their radio towers pick up nothing for the next hour until soldiers spot something odd in the sky. A dragon was approaching. The ponies panic, several complaining they don't have any how to kill a dragon. However the higher-ranking officials try their best to keep everyone calm. Meanwhile, the radio teams try to communicate with what they hope is Otulia over the radio.

Radio: Umm... if this is the people of Otulia, please report. Repeat: People of Otulia, please report. Warning: Our soldiers are seeing a dragon in the sky approaching Saddler Fort. If this is suppose to be you, please respond, over.

Aboard DC, the comms crew immediately received the transmission. It was a fairly subdued room, with the lights turned down low, and the endless beeping of machinery made to keep contact with other beings in the universe steadily putting a drain on one's spirit.

"We copy, Saddler Fort, this is DCU, over."

"Danke for escorting me and Vizepraesident Ushanka to the train station. 'Tis good to see you, Sergeant, escorting us. Once the train arrives, please kindly tell your men not to laugh at Helium, the pilot of Helium 1. The reason why? He always inhales helium by accident, which made his voice somewhat crazily but outrageously funny." Borealis said to the Sergeant as Vizepraesident Ushanka was laughing quietly at how pilot Helium was always the victim of inhaling helium too much. "Don't try to laugh at him. He's a tsundere." He added.

The radio ponies of Saddler Fort received the transmission from Otulia. To everyone's fortune, the dragon is indeed the transport for Otulia's representatives. Despite this, Squeeheart's military remained hesitant to lower their weapons until the dragon finally landed on the ground. The arrival of Otulia's people are just in time as well: The train has finally arrived and is preparing for a departure to Applecore.

Sergeant Mash wasted no time in showing the leaders of Novaya Equestria into one of the luxurious train cars. Meanwhile a pony soldier is speaking with the pilot of Helium 1, and is trying his best not to laugh about Helium's voice. This trooper is told to go check on some crates immediately by a superior officer. The officer makes the situation sound serious, but in truth she listened to Ushanka's warning and is trying to prevent any conflicts from arising. From there on the ponies are all trying to get the train loaded up for the next ride.

"Thank you for not laughing at me, miss." Helium said with his helium-affected voice. "It's been an honor that no-one will laugh at me." He added, but his voice - affected by helium - has become more funny.

-----

"Also, can you please get Borealis a bottle of cold water? He always gets thirsty a few minutes or hours." Vizepraesident Ushanka said as he looked at Borealis. "And please tell your people not to make him angry. He's prone to anger that he's always mad at anything. Try not to sing or play either Mi Mi Mi or Gwiyomi; both songs can make him angry." Ushanka told him. Borealis and Ushanka, who are wearing military uniforms (in the form of Waffen-SS officer's uniforms), sat on their seats with Borealis sleeping.

Hearing the requests for a bottle of water, a trooper marches off to the train's kitchen car. While that pony is off the captain, who has been sitting inside the train all day, looks at the Novaya leaders and starts a conversation.

Engine Steam: So you two are from Novaya Equestria? Those are some very interesting uniforms you have on. A lot of badges on them as well. Some of those badges though... I'm sorry, but I forgot to introduce myself. I am Captain Engine Steam. Currently it is my duty to oversee this train ride and ensure there are no conflicts going on. (The soldier returns with two bottles of water, one for Borealis and another for Ushanka should he need one.) So tell me, what is Novaya Equestria like? I know so much of my own country and her politics, that I can't help but want to know more about other nations such as yours.

Engine Steam is an Earth pony who is well known among his troops as one of the most fierce patriots in the military. The son of a former vigilante, he too has always believed in delivering justice to his enemies no matter what. Within only two years, he has successfully become a captain. It remains unknown if he will continue to seek military promotions, or if he will use his knowledge of the law to seek membership within the parliament of Squeeheart. What is certain though is that he is very fascinated with the rumors and fictional stories of cyborgs in the future, made obvious by the goggles he always wears and his custom-made, steel-designed battle saddle.

"Novaya Equestria is like Nazi Germany. Its politics, laws, and government was based on Nazi Germany's, except Novaya Equestria has four current parties: The Enlightened Socialist Equestrian Workers' Party or ESEWP, which controls the government and military; the Imperial Harmony Party, responsible for the funding of welfare and others; the Ultranationalist Party of Novaya Equestria, which was in charge of the military; and the Ushi Party, responsible for funding the military. Novaya Equestria's current armed forces is the Reichswehrmacht, which is consisted of the Reichsheer, the Reichsmarine, the Reichsluftwaffe, and the Reichsmarinekorps, which was independent from the aforementioned Reichsmarine. Novaya Equestria was busy constructing a space station that looks like the ISS, except this space station will be retrofitted so it will only be used by scientists and elite soldiers such as the Novaya Equestrian marines. For the convenience of this roleplay, especially considering how many days have passed, this current day in the roleplay is December 19. I'll be posting what day it is above my posts as well as the approximate time so we're reminded where we are exactly in this roleplay.

Before Engine Steam could respond to Novaya Equestria's ruler, sirens were going off. For a rather long period of time, no responses were picked up from the Selkie over any radio transmissions. Now however, a white biplane was flying over Saddler Fort. A Pegasus scout daringly flies close to the biplane. Both the scout and the biplane part ways, the aircraft makes a u-turn, everything is silent until the loudspeakers give off a message:

Attention soldiers, for there is a Selkie warship flying right over the beaches and heading straight for Saddler Fort. The warship is carrying Selkie ambassadors here to attend celebrations as well as the speech of the Monarch. No one is to open fire on this warship or the escorts. Also be advised the Selkie are permitted to fire a total of twenty-one salutes upon their arrival to Saddler Fort in honor of our founding holiday. All Pegasus ponies are recommended to stay out of the skies to avoid the risks of friendly fire from our visitors.

Captain Dobharchu snorted in amusement.
The white plane had returned, landed aboard the Sabre and gave the message. From there, a heliocopter had brought the message over.
They were allowed to enter Squeeheart airspace and to fire their salutes. Twenty-one blanks were prepared aboard the air-cruiser's main battery, the eight 20.3cm L/60 guns in four turrets were ready for that. There were two possible explanations for this tradition of firing salutes: One was, that the loud bangs made evil spirits flee in fright, granting safe passage. The other was, that it was rude for a ship, be it an airship or a seaship, to enter port with loaded guns.
Either way, Captain Fin would fire the salutes.
He was worried, though: His lookouts reported ships and aircraft like one had never seen them around, along with a dragon. It would be interesting, when they would arrive at Saddler Fort.
"So, Miss Foghlaí, what do you think?", Captain Fin asked, folding the paper, sliding it back to Marla, his First Officer. The blonde woman in the blue jacket took it off the table, eying the Rover full of suspicion.
The woman in archaic clothing leaning back. "It is a good start. Let's see how we can build up on it!"
The Captain nodded. Outside, a whistle went off, calling all crewmen to spare to man the rails in blue dress, while their colleagues in working uniforms went through the rigging, did their jobs and readied the ship for a docking maneuvre. One of them was the signals-flag-man, using coloured flags to signal the people on the ground, that they were approaching to land.
Ropers and anchormen readied the anchors to be dropped.
Onboard their escorts, similar things were happening, although they weren't ordered to fire salutes, rather then keeping watch for an attacking dragon. They had already entered the airspace above Squeeheart and...
BANG!
...would begin to fire salutes, soon.
BANG!
"Well.", Captain Fin said, clapping his hands.
BANG!
"Let's get this show on the road!"
BANG!
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

"What the heck was that? Is that the Combine trying to attack the nation of Squeeheart?" Borealis asked in confusion, much to Ushanka's dismay and annoyance.
READ BELOW!

I RP as Novaya, a Human militaristic nation (cuz anime) and an archipelagic country. I also RP as the Novayan Stellar Commonwealth, a FanFT/FanFFT nation.
Please refer to me/my nation as Novaya in both IC and OOC, NOT Novaya Equestria.
