In this world dragons can ravage the countryside, men the peace, and demons the soul. What you and I believe to be myths are very much real in this world. Dark wells are inhabited by wurms, swamps are home to foul creatures, beasts ravage the countryside by night, and great kingdoms rise in fall. Claims: A thickly forested Wales surrounding an artificial lake (The Glimmersea) with a a huge city (Avalon-100,000-125,000)
Species: Elves
Population: 250,000
Military Percentage: 5%
Government/Culture: Elven Magocracy with independent allied lands constituting all its population outside of Avalon. There are two main cultures in this kingdom. The Kindred Folk (Avalon and the surrounding hinterlands of the side of the Glimmersea) have 100,000 to 125,000. These folk live an urban lifestyle and speak a language closely related to the one spoken by those in Ireland.

The remaining population is of other races both within and outside of the Glimmersea area that are subjects of the Magocracy.

The Forest Peoples (Wood Elves to most 40-60,000) defend the forests and live a nature revering lifestyle of hunting with some minimal agriculture. They were here before the arrival of the Children of Math and are technically free and independent. They also speak their own language.
History: The magic of the Tutha De Dannan was gifted upon them by Math, a god-like magician, nearly a thousand years ago. Upon its arrival in society only some were found to exhibit the trait of magic and it was found to run through families. When King Mathwre III was found to have not inherited magic and his young sister Olwen had shown promising ability (approximately 600 hundred years ago), an armed rebellion of many aristocratic families and mages against the ruling dynasty occurred seeking to have the ruler always be a mage.

At the end of the fighting, Owlen had been killed at the hands of those who were attempting to kill her brother (she was about 14 at the time and never had supported the rebellion), the majority of the lower classes and several prominent mages continued to support the king, and Mathwre III had forced the majority of aristocratic families in submission (a few have formed other kingdoms in Ireland). At the re-coronation ceremony held at the end of the war the rebels nobles were brought before the king and exiled.

These families and their mage allies arrived in Wales and found that using magic they were able to terraform the land. They soon constructed the Glimmersea and the Island of Avalon in the centre and went to work on a new society. Believing that it was Math's will that mages should rule they called themselves "Children of Math" and were divided on what type of government to form. In the end they decided on a mage-centred, aristocracy-controlled, oligarchy which was destroyed within a year by more powerful nonaristocratic mages.

These mages established the council of 9. Nine wizardry schools would be established that welcomed anyone with magic ability. Every three years all mages would vote for one representative from each school to form an oligarchy that is all powerful. This continues to this day and was able to ally with the wood elves, but they still harbor a strong dislike for any of the Irish Kingdoms.

Yeah, I'll bite.
NS Name: The Kingdom of New Jordslag
Society Name: The Holy Empire of Aasreth
Species: Aasimar; Half-Human, Half-Angels.
Claims: To be decided once the map is up.
Population: (Don't Exceed Historical Pop. for Middle Ages) 600,000
*Military Percentage (this includes all that can be put in action such as militias): 120,000, including Militias and Conscripts. 60,000 in peacetime.
Government/Culture: As the name states, Aasreth is a Kingdom, and thus has a High King, though it's Government otherwise differs greatly from 'normal' Kingdoms. For one thing, it is surprisingly Democratic, and, although the High King wields very wide Legislative and Executive powers, there is also a High Council, which controls the High King's Powers and also controls Economic and Domestic Affairs. However, all members of the council save one are appointed by the High King (The Last One is appointed by a collection of religions in Aasreth), effectively making them his puppet. There is also another authority figure not appointed by the High King; Grand Knight of the Empire and Commander of the Military Forces, Vaarnus Tasara, who controls both the Armed Forces and is the sole judge of Criminals. For years both the Council and the High King have tried to reduce his powers; However, Vaarnus used his ruthless political skills to stop them dead cold. For now, they have an uneasy truce with Vaarnus, but the country remains Decadent and Corrupt. Surprising, for a 1,000 year old nation founded by both Humans and Angels.

Aasreth is highly disciplined and militaristic. Corruption in the Government, which some locals blame on Ifrits, prevents any further expansion of the Empire. Visitors in Aasreth are expected to follow local customs and laws; if they do, they are greeted with open arms. Every Village, Town, and City in the Empire has at least 2 Clans; Clans are made up of half a dozen families at the least, or hundreds at the most. Clans compete with each other for Local Government control, control of the Marketplace, Prestigious Positions in the Army, and even controls over unpopulated Forests. This system of Competition is encouraged by the Government, which states that: "We are the Aasimar. We are strong. As such, only Strong Clans could be made up of true Aasimar. Ones that yield to the stronger clans are simply weak, and we should not have to provide for them. We must let the weak die off so we can feed more of the strong. Otherwise, this country will collapse to the vile Ifrits." The Country does not provide food for clans that do not produce enough economic benefits, leaving them to forage for themselves. Many Citizens are unhappy with this Darwinist Society, though they keep any complaints to themselves.

And about the Ifrits mentioned above: They are a minority race in Aasreth, and are much hated. They are the children of Humans and Demons, and have been known to be more prone to Violence then Aasimar, though whether this is a matter of Nature or a result from them being treated as Second-Class Monsters remains to be seen. Curiously, Aasimar Crime Rates are rising and Ifrit Crime Rates are actually DROPPING slightly, though the Government would never admit it.
History: Created 1,000 years ago when Angels were cast out of some forgotten heaven down to Earth, these corrupted Angels found a community of Fishermen and decided to take over the Earth, starting there. However, as it turned out, the flimsy Fishermen did not make good fighters, and thus the Angels decided to breed with them, to create stronger offspring. The results were much better; once the First-Generation Aasimar grew up, they plunged into battle, inflicting many defeats on a far larger enemy. Unfortunately for the Angels and their 'Empire', however, they found they really WERE mortal; being cast out of the heavens stripped them of their immortal status, and they died at Mortal Human Ages. Without their Winged, Beautiful Parents, the Aasimar, who had been educated in nothing but fighting and talking, were left there, confused, and scratching their heads. One of them, however, was named Yuaarva. Yuaarva was a Female Aasimar, and as the Angels saw no reason in leaving anybody out of the fighting, they were warriors too. But Yuaarva was more intelligent then the Angels predicted; she learned from observation of the peoples she and her fellow Aasimar had conquered that every society needed a strong leader. Taking Charge and forming a Government much like the one today, she led new waves of conquest, eventually dying at the ripe old age of 99 with an expansive Empire but no Children. The Members of her Government argued about who should succeed her, and bloody civil wars followed. The Empire lost a lot of prestige and warriors. Eventually, after 100 years of Fighting, Riaal Giusaara succeeded her, starting a long line of Male Kings. He restored the Empire Somewhat to Glory, and is fondly remembered as the man who ended years of Bloodshed.

His descendants carried on for another 500 years. 300 Years Ago, Demons decided to visit the Earth, coincidentally landing on the same spot as the Angels. Not knowing what Demons were, the till-then bloody-but-innocent Aasimar greeted them. Before the Aasimar realized it, the Demons were ravaging their country, killing Hundreds and breeding their own offspring with the Humans.

So began another 100 years of hard and bloody fighting with the Demons and their Ifrit followers. Eventually, controlling all the major Towns, the Aasimar won. The Demons were all executed, but the High King at the time, Trelaas Henara, took pity on the Ifrit who were forced into bloodshed much like his own race, and let them live, though only as Second-Class Citizens. Today, he is well-loved in Ifrit slums, and totally hated among his own race, the Aasimar.

200 years later, you would hardly recognize the country. Through a stroke of bad luck, Aasimar who showed the 'Corrupted' side of their parents began to win the King's favor through trickery and assassination, and eventually killed the King himself, replacing him with his 10 year-old son. They promptly placed an adviser to control the throne behind the scenes, set up a secret Police to kill Aasimar dissidents, set up the clan system, made the Ifrits even more second-class, and made several other unpopular policies. Revolution is brewing in Ifrit slums thanks to these 'Fallen Angels', and won't be pretty...

However, all members of the council save one are appointed by the High King (The Last One is appointed by a collection of religions in Aasreth), effectively making them his puppet. There is also another authority figure not appointed by the High King; Grand Knight of the Empire and Commander of the Military Forces, Vaarnus Tasara, who controls both the Armed Forces and is the sole judge of Criminals. For years both the Council and the High King have tried to reduce his powers; However, Vaarnus used his ruthless political skills to stop them dead cold. For now, they have an uneasy truce with Vaarnus, but the country remains Decadent and Corrupt. Surprising, for a 1,000 year old nation founded by both Humans and Angels.

Aasreth is highly disciplined and militaristic. Corruption in the Government, which some locals blame on Ifrits, prevents any further expansion of the Empire. Visitors in Aasreth are expected to follow local customs and laws; if they do, they are greeted with open arms. Every Village, Town, and City in the Empire has at least 2 Clans; Clans are made up of half a dozen families at the least, or hundreds at the most. Clans compete with each other for Local Government control, control of the Marketplace, Prestigious Positions in the Army, and even controls over unpopulated Forests. This system of Competition is encouraged by the Government, which states that: "We are the Aasimar. We are strong. As such, only Strong Clans could be made up of true Aasimar. Ones that yield to the stronger clans are simply weak, and we should not have to provide for them. We must let the weak die off so we can feed more of the strong. Otherwise, this country will collapse to the vile Ifrits." The Country does not provide food for clans that do not produce enough economic benefits, leaving them to forage for themselves. Many Citizens are unhappy with this Darwinist Society, though they keep any complaints to themselves.

And about the Ifrits mentioned above: They are a minority race in Aasreth, and are much hated. They are the children of Humans and Demons, and have been known to be more prone to Violence then Aasimar, though whether this is a matter of Nature or a result from them being treated as Second-Class Monsters remains to be seen. Curiously, Aasimar Crime Rates are rising and Ifrit Crime Rates are actually DROPPING slightly, though the Government would never admit it.
History: Created 1,000 years ago when Angels were cast out of some forgotten heaven down to Earth, these corrupted Angels found a community of Fishermen and decided to take over the Earth, starting there. However, as it turned out, the flimsy Fishermen did not make good fighters, and thus the Angels decided to breed with them, to create stronger offspring. The results were much better; once the First-Generation Aasimar grew up, they plunged into battle, inflicting many defeats on a far larger enemy. Unfortunately for the Angels and their 'Empire', however, they found they really WERE mortal; being cast out of the heavens stripped them of their immortal status, and they died at Mortal Human Ages. Without their Winged, Beautiful Parents, the Aasimar, who had been educated in nothing but fighting and talking, were left there, confused, and scratching their heads. One of them, however, was named Yuaarva. Yuaarva was a Female Aasimar, and as the Angels saw no reason in leaving anybody out of the fighting, they were warriors too. But Yuaarva was more intelligent then the Angels predicted; she learned from observation of the peoples she and her fellow Aasimar had conquered that every society needed a strong leader. Taking Charge and forming a Government much like the one today, she led new waves of conquest, eventually dying at the ripe old age of 99 with an expansive Empire but no Children. The Members of her Government argued about who should succeed her, and bloody civil wars followed. The Empire lost a lot of prestige and warriors. Eventually, after 100 years of Fighting, Riaal Giusaara succeeded her, starting a long line of Male Kings. He restored the Empire Somewhat to Glory, and is fondly remembered as the man who ended years of Bloodshed.

His descendants carried on for another 500 years. 300 Years Ago, Demons decided to visit the Earth, coincidentally landing on the same spot as the Angels. Not knowing what Demons were, the till-then bloody-but-innocent Aasimar greeted them. Before the Aasimar realized it, the Demons were ravaging their country, killing Hundreds and breeding their own offspring with the Humans.

So began another 100 years of hard and bloody fighting with the Demons and their Ifrit followers. Eventually, controlling all the major Towns, the Aasimar won. The Demons were all executed, but the High King at the time, Trelaas Henara, took pity on the Ifrit who were forced into bloodshed much like his own race, and let them live, though only as Second-Class Citizens. Today, he is well-loved in Ifrit slums, and totally hated among his own race, the Aasimar.

200 years later, you would hardly recognize the country. Through a stroke of bad luck, Aasimar who showed the 'Corrupted' side of their parents began to win the King's favor through trickery and assassination, and eventually killed the King himself, replacing him with his 10 year-old son. They promptly placed an adviser to control the throne behind the scenes, set up a secret Police to kill Aasimar dissidents, set up the clan system, made the Ifrits even more second-class, and made several other unpopular policies. Revolution is brewing in Ifrit slums thanks to these 'Fallen Angels', and won't be pretty...

History: The Naga of the Uttar Pradesh where united six generations ago by the Kadesh clan which came from upriver on a quest for vengeance for their exile. The Kadesh though marriage, war, and scheme united the region under nine Rajahs, each tied to the Kadesh by marital union. The early years of the Uttar where one that tested this unity, though as generations have passed the wrongs of the great conquest have been settled, and with the settlments new wrongs have rose. The main force keeping the clans from breaking away is the Kadesh Dynasty of the Maharajah which has done it's best to keep it's enemies to a minimum in the years since the initial invasion. The clans themselves are relatively free to do as they please with in the confines of imperial law, each establishing it's own relations of the business, and personal nature with outside, and internal powers. So long as such arrangement do not undermine the dealings of the Kadesh, or break Imperial Law. The Uttar will rarely involve themselves as a whole when it comes to foreign matters, unless the region it's self is invaded.

The government is an absolute monarchy, headed by an Emperor who controls the nation's internal and foreign affairs. In order to help him make decisions for the good of the Kingdom, he is constantly advised by a council of appointed advisors. which are called the Council of Advisors. The actual government is completely separate from the military and the Order of Neptune (basically the Church). There is a legislature called the Imperial Centour which consists of members appointed by the Emperor, who has the power to dismiss members of the Centour as he sees fit.

So, maybe the grand Raja's clan came from the North and united the clans. They might have a confederacy type thing like the Iroquois... How do they behave, are they aggressive or isolationists or traders?

I like the confederacy idea, and the Raja's clan coming from the north to unite the clans. I'd say that form the most part the Naga of the Uttar are isolationists in the sense that they don't like to get involved in the affairs of foreign states if such doesn't concern them, however they do offer luxury goods such as silks, and wine. Clan members outside of the Uttar are either protectors, merchants, entertainers, or on a mission of vengeance. If the Uttar Naga clans do get involved in other states it's usually to negotiate a trade, or to settle some wrong. Since the Uttar consider vengeance a noble pursuit it's not a good idea to wrong them.

Kylantha is a large walled Empire that is largely reliant on slave labor. They are oppressive towards those who are considered beneath them, so much that even animals are treated better than their slaves. Their largest industries are farming, fishing, textiles, and architecture. Farming and construction are often left for the slaves to do.

The Ashryn are the dominant race of Kylantha. The Imperial Council consists mostly of these race. The Ashryn are almost completely similar to humans, except they've snow-white hair, pale-skin, and more durable bodies. They are tolerant to cold, but will need heat every now and then. Their expertise is in textiles, architecture, education, and military. Any job that involves too much physical activity will most likely be avoided, though if needed, they will gladly work.

The Braern are taller humanoid creatures and have dark brown hair. Their limbs are longer, and they are rumored to be able to speak to animals. It may be true, as they are responsible for the taming of animals in Kylantha. The Ashryn gave them this job in exchange for protection and shelter. As a result, animals have become one of Kylantha's weapons as well. And not only that. They serve as transportation and assist in construction, but never as food. Some are even treated as pets by the populace and the leadership.

The Venali are the slaves of the community. They serve both the Ashryn and the Braern, and are treated as lower than even the animals, which even get their own homes. More than once they have staged their own revolutions, but were crushed easily. Every defeat demoralized them to the point that they gave up and submitted completely. The Venali are about as tall as the Ashryn, but they are darker skinned, have black hair, and bulkier builds.

History:
Kylantha has been around for quite a long time, but it only became an Empire after the city became overpopulated, and the capture of outer territories became required. This was when the Venali territories were completely occupied and the Braern were declared as allies, having agreed to support the Ashryn expansion movement. Emperor Galather Miirphys began to tighten his grip around captured territories with the use of the Braern's help. The Braern were more numerous than the Ashryn, but since they were considered allies, they didn't dare fight the Ashryn.

During the slow rise of the Empire, the Venali took the opportunity and revolted against the Ashryn. But within weeks of the beginning of their revolution, they were brought down by the joint forces of Braern and Ashryn. Things became even more chaotic during these years, as the Emperor had been killed. The Imperial Council then decided that the Emperor's son, Airdan, would lead the Empire. When he did, things became worse for the Venali who he wanted vengeance against for the death of his father. Life improved for the Ashryn and the Braern however, with more and more territories slipping into his hands. For several years, he commits genocide against the Venali and other minorities until he meets the love of his life, who pleads with him to stop the murder. Airdan complies, but only partially. The Venali are treated the same, but are no longer killed needlessly.

History: Thousands of Years ago, a band of High Elves were lost in the lush plains of Iberia. Facing death, they ran uphill and saw other groups of Altmer with a herd of cows and other animals. There, they had a pact. They will build an Empire. It took thousands of years for the Altmer to fully enrich her Potentials and develop one of the Most richest Culture on Earth. The Neighboring tribes posed threat to the growth of the emerging Elven Superpower. Willing to Assert their Superiority to the Neigboring tribe, they formed the Ayre. An organization tasked to assert Elven superiority. Currently, the City of Silvercrest is the Capital and is located at Real life Madrid.
