What is Guns of Our Forefathers?
Guns of Our Forefathers (GOOF for short) is a series of 18th century alternate-history RP's in which players create and maintain their own empires, within the realm of plausibility, and interact with the leaders of other nations as the world collectively struggles through world wars, colonialism, and the changing social landscape due to the Enlightenment. Please, feel free to check out previous incarnations, GOOF I and GOOF II, for more background.
When will GOOF 3 take place?
The current idea is that GOOF will start on January 1, 1700, making it the earliest of the GOOF RPs yet.
Will previous nations/canon be considered or preferred?
In short, no. Since GOOF 3 takes place earlier, previous nations from GOOF I and GOOF II will not be returning as-is. However, there are no limits if people returning from GOOF I or II make a nation similar to their previous one.
Worldbuilding?
Yes. This thread is going to act as an interest/applications thread, which will make peer review of apps easier and make it simpler for new players to see what is open or needed. Additionally, we will aim to build a concrete sense of how international relations and colonization work and their respective starting conditions at the beginning of the RP.
What are the rules?
Generally, the rules will be similar to the rules of previous incarnations. HOWEVER, I am giving the players a great say in how they want this RP to go. For instance, what is the point-of-divergence? What are the major cities? Who are the ruling dynasties? That is yet another goal of this thread, to organize the "physics" of the RP world.
Is this a faction or character RP?
It's a mostly faction RP. However, since most of the countries are monarchies, expect to take a good amount of time developing the intricate details of your royal families. Interact with other families. Don't be afraid to take a Crusader Kings 2 approach to affairs.
Is there magic?
No, there is no fantasy whatsoever. I bring this up because this has become something of a flashpoint in the past. I discourage people who have a strong need for fantasy/magic from applying, as I doubt this is the RP for you.
