Violence Breaks Out in Arana (OOC/MT/Open)

Overview

Four days ago, President Christopher Flynn of Arana was assassinated by an unknown assailant. Following the assassination, emergency elections went into place. The new president, winning 62% of the popular vote, was the honorary Crown Prince of Arana, Aaron VI Akaia. Two days after his election, President Akaia issued a declaration to the Supreme Soviet, requesting that they restore the Kingdom of Arana, formerly part of the Kingdom of Arana and Alexi, which was overthrown in 1947. The Supreme Soviet voted on his request, and came to a decision within two days. The United Socialist States of Arana was disbanded, and replaced with the People's Kingdom of Arana, which is, in essence, the Socialist form of a constitutional monarchy. The reaction to this decision varied from approval, to apathy, to the outbreak of violence. Currently, several factions have formed within the nation.

Faction

The People's Kingdom of Arana - The current government of Arana. While it has only existed a short time, it has widespread support throughout the nation, and has continued many of the policies of the former government.
The Aran Workers' Front - A coalition of various trade unions and militias that has been around since the 1980s, but only comes to arms in times of emergency. The Workers' Front has yet to declare it's position regarding the new government, and opinion varies between the various unions and militias.
The Holy Fist - The militant branch of the Holy Fist Party. The Holy Fist is made up of Muslim militants, although they focus mainly on defending Muslim communities in Arana against fascist insurgents that frequently attack them. The Holy Fist is currently in a loose alliance with the government, as they view the growing fascist threat as much more of a concern.
The National Socialist Front - The militant branch of the Fascist Party, the National Socialist Front has an extreme hatred for Muslims, Jews, and anyone who isn't Christian or Mayan Pagan. They are known for attacking Muslim communities in Arana, and are currently in conflict with The Holy Fist. They have declared their opposition to the new government, and are believed to be planning to overthrow it.

The United Republic of America has been closely monitoring the growing crisis within Arana over the last several days. With the recent intervention of multiple foreign nations into the situation in favor of certain factions we find destable and intergovernmental discussions here in the Republic, we have decided that now is the time for the URA to directly intervene ourselves in the current instability. While we do find most of the National Socialism system repulsive, to see your nation fall to Islamist radicals or remain within the grip of the Communists presents a potentially worse outcome both for your people and the interests of the URA. We here in the Republic have long been stalwart foes of both Communist ideology and Jihadism, and we intend to remain a major player in containing both of those failed systems that continue to seek to harm their users. You're not alone in this struggle, we shall stand with you.

With that said, the URA hereby recognizes the National Socialist Front (NSF) as the legitimate governing party of Arana, and with this recognition, we also hereby announce our intentions to begin delivering aid to your forces. As of tonight, I have signed a bill that will seek to provide the forces of NSF with large quantities of munitions and surplus weaponry from our stocks. We shall also begin sharing what intelligence, via such means as satellite photography or communications intercepts, with your faction. At this time, we shall not be launching direct military actions in support of you at this time but we have initiated a campaign to recruit a volunteer unit to fight for your faction as foreign legion. We shall inform you of more on this at a later date.

Description: The second smallest major party in Arana, the HFP is only a major party in one state, Azteca, which has a large Muslim population. However, the majority of Muslims in Arana are not members of this party, and criticize it for it's radical beliefs, preferring to become members of the three major parties.

...to be honest, I don't even remember writing that. But while I suppose it is a reasonable assumption, they are not in fact, Jihadists, at least not most of them. Plus, the Holy Fist Party actually has a smaller membership than it's militant wing, as many who disagree with the party's beliefs have joined the Holy Fist in order to defend their communities from the National Socialist Front.

The thing is that no such faction really exists in Arana. The majority of the population is either center-far left or far-right.
