The Badenture [TG for entry]

Postby Yngen » Thu Nov 27, 2014 1:37 am

This is primarily a private RP between myself and [nation=short]Imaginarium[/nation] but if you feel that you have something to add, TG me explaining the character[s] you want to introduce to this RP and why. Otherwise, just enjoy reading this beautiful tragi-comedy

Laptev System, Teatime

The reports from the Battle over Sydhafen had been disappointing. Although the Imperial fleet had thoroughly routed the rogue Chaos squadron, the battle had been harder fought than it should have been, proving that the Thunder-Class Destroyers were simply not up to the task, in comparison to the smaller Storm-Class frigates which had done a magnificent job.

As such, the Imperium needed a new design for its primary ships of the line, and fast. Avery Johnson had directed officers from the Directorate to link up with Imaginariumese personnel for a top secret mission, and so her chosen mission leader, one Colonel Berauscht, was on the surface of Laptev in a small cafe in Ironholm.

Juice&Naps™ Branch 105, Rudi-Dutschke-Straße, Ironholm

Colonel Berauscht sat at the table, sipping at a mango smoothie. He was a felidaen, looking like a humanoid lynx, dressed in the black uniform of the Directorate, and he sprawled languidly across his chair. Not because he was in any way arrogant or brash, but simply because he was permanently in a state of mild inebriation or intoxication of one form or other. The attractive human waitress stopped by and asked if he wanted anything, to which he simply shook his tufty-eared head in silence. Neither of them gave the other so much as a second glance, because inter-species relations are considered weird, unnatural, and biologically impossible in the Argent Imperium, you dirty basement dwellers.

He took another sip, glancing at the Imagniariumese officer across the table from him.
"So, comrade," he said in rough Imaginariumese, "we are decided. We are to lead a crack squadron into this FB-Verse, and then search out and find the IJN Fury of Saigo, and hopefully it's AI, Mnemosyne, then fetch it all up and come skipping back home. Is good, da?"

Comrade Kiril Renko took a sip from the malt drink in front of him. His face was now old, and where once afternoon drinking was reserved for something stronger, now he drank hot beverages to warm his body. As he put his mug down, he straightened one of the many enamel badges that decorated his trench coat lapel and spoke, in a soft manner:

"Da Tovarishch... the idea is suitable enough. My only concern about the premise is that the success ratio of heading into the void of the FB-verse is completely unknown. We've had plenty of refugees come through the rift, and it's certainly left them mentally scared. We've never been able to send people back through to the other side...and by all accounts, what is on the other side is a burning wreckage of something that was once beautiful..."

Renko waved at the waitress, motioning to fill up another mug of the malt drink.

"I know we have the godless souls who will commit to this operation...in fact, I can think of the operatives who will be sent right away...we even have the base of operations deep in the mountains of Klovekan, the region where most FB-verse refugees come through...just tell me Colonel, what crazy souls are you going to send?"

Berauscht scratched his jaw slowly, thoughtfully.
"I was thinking," he began, searching for his words "of going myself. It's going to be weird. Whole worlds just...still. They'll be the same location, just...different places, you know? And Mnemosyne was always nice to me eh. Yes, I think I will go."
He finished his drink and stretched out, yawning.
"So we'll head to the Klovekan mountains and do the whole interdimensional transport thing? Lead on, Comrade."

Renko did indeed lead on. From their seats at the Juice&Naps, the posse made their way first to a government vehicle in the street, which in turn took them to an outer city airport, where they were rushed aboard a lightening fast transport to the Klovekan mountain region.

Klovekan region- Teresha Mountains-Godmyu Military Base *SECRET*

As the transport landed in the mountainous region, snow began to fall upon the already frozen ground. It was cold in this region, terribly cold. But the group were to descend from their transporter into an open door, leading underground. As they descended further, the lights began to dim, and the number of military personnel in the area begin to increase.

"Comrade Berauscht," began Renko "This base has served as a secret research base for the People's Army for the last 50 years, ever since the first few refugees from the FB-Verse began to come through the void...I have spoken with hundreds of these people, all of them speak of the terrible place they left behind...Comrade, we have assembled a trio for this mission, who will accompany you if you are determined to travel. They volunteered, and know the sacrifices this may entail, but are determined for this mission to be a success, for the sake of Yngen and Imaginarium. I am telling you this because so far, the device we have created and used to breach the void has allowed us to send items, tests, into the FB-verse, but we have not heard anything from them...nothing has come back. If you are willing to continue, I will introduce you to the team, allow you time to eat, rest, and then we will begin..."

Berauscht shrugged.
"I got here somehow. Sure I can do it again, right? Things'll be fine. Let's meet this team, eh?"

"Very well Comrade, please...this way" Renko ushered them down a corridor made of concrete...infact the entire structure was a mixture of concrete and metallic sheets. They navigated themselves down a series of corridors, passing soldiers and scientists as they travelled, none of whom looked up from their journey and work to notice the Renko or Berauscht. Finally, they reached a closed metal door with the letters "Замороженные Жилые помещения" marked on it at about head height.

Renko swiped a card against a display on the side, and the door lifted into the ceiling, revealing an active room behind it. It could only be described as a science lab, as a desk with notes sat in one corner, an assortment of tubes and chemicals burnt away, aapparently in some form of experiment. The main feature of the room had to be the two massive vats which stood directly opposite the doorway. Infront of these vats, monitoring a screen stood a gentleman in a lab coat, with thick rimmed glasses, and a comb over. He was youthful in his face, but his dress sense made him look like a character from a by gone era.

Renko stepped forward. "Comrade Berauscht...I'd like you to meet Rasmus Rusev...Rasmus, meet Colonel Berauscht."

"A...a...pleasure Colonel." Rasmus extended a hand to Berauscht.

"Rasmus is the first of your team mates...and these..." Renko gestured towards the vats "these are the other two."

Berauscht shook Rasmus' hand, his paw a little limp.
"Pleased to meet you, pleased to meet you. I su-NO." he broke off, pointing at the two creepy characters in the corner of the room. "NOT THIS AGAIN."
He composed himself a little, bracing himself against the desk.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I've been here in Yngen a while now, and things have been....deliciously vanilla. I was used to things making sense but..."
He stepped a little closer, pulling out a packet of Werther's Originals and offering them to his comrades by way of apology.
"With these two around, the world tends to go a little...R-18..."

"Ah, you've met our comrades before..." Renko resting a reassuring hand on Berauscht's shoulder. "Yes, they are a little...niche. We have to keep them frozen because if we don't they have a habit of breaking things... And generally annoying people with their shenanigans. They volunteered for this mission (no surprise really, it suits them down to a tee). Their reason? They quoted an old folk song by some lost artist known as the Manic Street Preacher or something. They just kept saying 'Look up "The Everlasting" by the Manics...that is us. That is why we must go back."

Renko gave a nod to Rasmus, and with some intrepidation, Rasmus walked to a panel, and pressed a massive red button. The tubes began to rumble, and steam vented from the sides. Within seconds the room vats were completely thawed, and the two characters, one in a blue bear mask, the other in a pink dog mask stood, still... gradually coming to life. Their black suits damp from the defrosting. The blue bear took a step forward, stumbling, unsteady...feeling down at his damp clothes. "Awww man, now I know how Jack felt when Rose let go of him..."

Berauscht gave Renko a meaningful glance, then stepped forwards.
"Hello comrades. I believe you remember me? If not, maybe that is best. Here is a towel."
He promptly handed over a towel, before stepped hastily back in case they somehow turned it into a mace or a chainsaw or strangled someone with it.
"How've you been? You are ready to badenture into the FB-Verse, then?"

Graciously accepting the towel, Cha-Cha, in his pink dog mask, spoke, "Thank you Mr...Berauscht. I think?"

"You are correct C-C" The blue bear, Hazel assuring his partner in rhyme.

"I'm moderately well...to be honest with you Mr Bearhouse, since we've arrived here things have been a bit..."

"Mauve...if it was a colour, I would say mauve" Hazel interrupted

"We came from the FB universe...that place was pretty fun. I mean sure, people posted terrible stuff, and we had to deal with Holy Trek being self righteous (I know he is now here), but it was fun you know...here everything is so...daft."

"But yes, we are ready to go Mr Beerhouse."

"Are you ready to go Comrade?" Rasmus said, moving the conversation along promptly. "Or we can rest first...inter dimensional travel maybe tiring for us all..."

Berauscht nodded slowly.
"Honestly, I sleep about 20 hours a day normally, so I'm pretty well rested. We can go now if you want."
He coughed, and then rubbed his face.
"Ah that fixed it. Here we go. OK, so we're going back into mauve-world. On-y-va?"
