Hmm. Hello.
Edit: If you can't go more east than the Abuyyid's does that mean that the Georgians are off limit?

Ok. I'll just look up the size of the Georgian army at the time and then you'll see an app.

Application

Nation Name: Kingdom of Bohemia

Population:

Capital City: Prague

Government: Ottokar I, taking advantage of the internal power struggles within the Holy Roman Empire, declared himself King of Bohemia just four years past, elevating his realm from a duchy to a kingdom in its own right. While, generally, such an imperious declaration would not have stood without some controversy, Ottokar's allegiance to Otto IV, a claimant to the imperial crown, and his marriage to Constance of Hungary have granted him nominal prestige. Despite this, his reign is neither absolute nor secure. His brother, Vladislaus III, is still bitter about the usurpation of his ducal throne and his confinement to autonomous Moravia. Ottokar managed to neutralized his rival's followers several years ago, but the German princes under his dominion seek out every opportunity to become truculent, compelling the self-styled monarch to pander to his vassals on occasion. Thus, in many ways, Bohemia is the typical feudal monarchy.

Technology: The Kingdom of Bohemia has inherited the technological advancements of the Germans, the Poles, and the Hungarians, and is thus somewhat comparable to its neighbors in terms of technological development. It is most similar to the Holy Roman Empire.

Economy: With a population of about 300,000, and sitting on the peripheries of the Holy Roman Empire, the Kingdom of Bohemia is something of a backwater at the moment, albeit a backwater poised to explode into prominence within the next century or so. Most economic activity is agricultural in nature, though a dozen or so bustling commercial centers, such as Prague, bolster the King's coffers.

Military: The Bohemian military emphasizes armored knights and light cavalry, much like its eastern neighbors, distinguishing it somewhat from the armies of the Emperor and his German vassals. In times of turbulence, the crown may call up to 5,000 fighting men to the field without overwhelming difficulty or burden to the economy, provided it is for no more than a single season. Most major settlements also boast strong fortifications, making incursions into Bohemia a stern undertaking.

  • 30 Royal Guards
  • 690 Knights
  • 812 Mounted Sergeants
  • 478 Light Cavalry
  • 2,800 Czech Levies
  • 190 Crossbowmen
  • ~ 3,000 Mercenaries (negative impact on the economy)

History: The history hasn't changed from real life just yet. I intend to mimic Ottokar's policies, but there will definitely be changes. If anyone wants to read up on the history of Bohemia, feel free.

Application
Nation Name: The Kingdom of Georgia
Population: ~5,000,000
Capital City: Tbilisi

Government: Feudal Monarchy

Technology: The Technology of Georgia is very much influenced by the Byzantine/Eastern Roman Empire and the Muslim nations that surround Georgia because of that Georgia is in the league of the Christian and Muslim powers in Technology.

Economy: The Georgian economy is based around the Caucasus trade with neighbors and the Byzantines. The other backbone of the Georgian economy is agriculture however most of the population are peasants.
Military: The Army stands at about 80,000 men and are a battle hardened force having fought for years under queen Tamar the Georgian army has seen victory after victory over it's enemies and foes including Azerbaijanis, Seljuk's and Armenians. The army follows a style influenced by both the Byzantines and Muslims. The core of the army is however the military elite which the army relies on.

History: Georgia was first united as a Kingdom in 1008 under the rule of Bagrat III. The Kings of Georgia would then start to further unite Georgia and manage to make it prosper between the Byzantines and the Seljuk Empires. However with the Decline of Byzantium and the dissolution of the Great Seljuk Empire the Georgians managed to take a place as one of the foremost kingdoms in the area expanding into a Pan-Caucasus empire winning great victories such as Didgori in 1121 and Shamkor in 1195 both being great Georgian victories against numerically superior foes. Now Georgia is ruled by Queen Tamar who has continued Georgia's expansion at the expense of the other nations in the Caucasus including the Seljuks.
Other: Not sure how the Georgian economy was at the time as there isn't much information about it.

Application
Nation Name: Repubblica di Pisa, Respublica Pisae, Republic of Pisa
Population: Approximately 100,000 of Pisa, in the sense of the walls, the Porto Pisano, and the farmlands just around that supply it mostly. A further 250,000 or thereabout I imagine in Gallura Giudicati, Corsica, etc.
Capital City: Pisa
Government: Merchant republic; though voting is allowed to basically anyone who is male, not poor, Pisan, etc. it tends to reflect the interests of the state's mercantilism and heavy bias towards navy, commerce, etc. Still unsure who actually rules; assume Viscount for now.
Technology: At least in Europe, some of the best. Close proximity to the centres of urban civilisation in Italy as well as the spread of communication all across the Mediterranean, allowing trade with any Arab, Greek or Spaniard who has better ideas, sees Pisa keep at the forefront of technological innovation, especially with its policies of moneymaking being more important than any tradition that might restrict it.
Economy: Booming, based off trade. Pisa is one of the strongest, arguably (very) the strongest of the merchant republics which make fortunes, trading in spices and silk from the east, ivory and gold from the south, and the many produces of Europe, both urban and rural, glass to wine to grain to iron. Pisa's finances are generally thriving, as is its merchant class.
Military: The land forces are fairly lacklustre; only a few thousand decent footsoldiers could be found with just a sprinkling of cavalry, and very few levies would be available. The navy is extremely large and powerful though and directly controls about 70 galleys for patrol, defence and repair purposes and rents out about a hundred more which could be called back in if necessary. There are also smatterings of other ship types, and a merchant marine that could in theory provide a base for conscription/seizure.
History: eh eh eh; city broke loose, started trading, got rich, navy everywhere.
Other: this ought to be interesting. :P and I promise not to build any underground mosques

Nu. You can build trading posts there though (but that does depend on me going Sicily, and I'm currently leaning towards Jerusalem).

Application
Nation Name: The Papal States
Population: I'm not exactly sure, I recall a source that mentioned 25,000 People within Rome. (?)
Capital City: Rome
Government: Elective Theocracy. College of Cardinals will elect the new Pope from their own ranks, though any Catholic can technically become Pope, once the Pope has died. (Or the rarer resigning)
Technology: As best as Europe can get, I suppose. Doesn't put most military technology into practice though.
Economy: Donations, Papal Holdings (eg Churches), fishing fleets based in Fiumicino.
Military: A very elite standing military comprising of 200 Knights, 500 Heavy Infantry and 400 Crossbowmen. Also has a good number of mercenaries under their belt as of now, including 2,000 Swiss Halberdiers.
History: Eh? Nothing Pope Innocent OP, m8.
Other: #papalseals.
