Is there a cult of personality around your nation's leader?

Postby World Empire » Mon Nov 24, 2014 6:47 am

Greetings all,

I was just wondering, is there a cult of personality around your nation's leader? and how excessive it is, are there laws for it etc.?

In world empire there is a big cult of personality around His Imperial Majesty Emperor Ronald I

for example:
    1. Every home should have a state portrait of His Imperial Majesty Ronald I on the walls, and nothing may be hanging higher on the wall
    2. There are many statues of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Ronald I across the nation
    3. Every day at 8:00 and at 18:00 the national anthem is played on both television and radio, on television the anthem is played while showing videos and state portraits of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Ronald I
The text you see above is published by The Ministery Of Propaganda in the name of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Ronald I and approved by The Minister Of Propaganda and His Imperial Majesty Emperor Ronald I

Signed,
The Minister Of Propaganda of World Empire
Lord Frederick F.O. Blackstone

His Imperial Majesty Emperor Ronald I
Emperor of World Empire

Our old leader, Tsar Vladimir the Egotistical as people call him had one, people sometimes would be standing outside the palace yelling how much they love him and worship him, when Tsarnia Catherine VII came to power earlier this year, she made a royal decree saying, and I quote "Don't worship me like a god, for I am a mere mortal like you, also get off my lawn, you're killing the grass and that grass doesn't replace itself."
Call me Russia, Rus, or IRE

Every President Hank the Cat has a new way of ultizing the outrageous cult of personality. The Current one, puts pictures of himself everywhere, so people can see it everywhere. President Hank the Cat also lives (Unless his mansion has wheels..he can't really drive it. I meant to put in Limousine originally..)in a absurdly large mansion, which he only leaves for Congressional Work. He also has made everyone believe he is a "God-King" who can do amazing things.

Well the position of Emperor has always been surrounded in majesty. It comes with the office. While people do not worship the Emperor per se they do revere him highly. Emperor Alexios VI is very down to earth though and insists that whenever he is in church people should call him Brother Alexios.

The Emperor's cult of personality extends solely to the men who have served under him who see him as a military genius and a kind, honorable man but the Emperor's family has an almost religious following. In fact as the family have supplied three saints in the direct line itself there is a religious following. All members of the family are part of their own separate class of society with their privileges being exempt from certain laws and an automatic title upon birth for almost the entire family. The people themselves love House Dubrack Dubrackson with their being special festivals and celebrations when members of the close family visit towns. At some of the major universities you can take a degree in House Dubrack and House Dubrack Dubrackson studies and up until Year Six all students have at least one lesson a week of House Dubrack Dubrackson studies.

Cults of personality were more common during the period of the Emperical Reign. Many of the Empircal Laws are still on the books, often conflicting with the so-termed "Progressive Laws"... so pretty much other than saying anything "bad" about the previous emperors there are not really any Cults of personality surrounding any member of the current government.

None exist and have never existed with the exception of Leonard Damon's short-lived regime in the mid-1940s. Sure, Hadro Ironhorn does have quite a few females amongst the general populace interested in him (to his embarrassment), but there is no cult of personality whatsoever in Saurisia.

No, King Tusk Chekov doesn't. He takes it as unnecessary, but also welcomed and appreciated at the same time. He says that citizens don't have to go and kneel down to him to have him like them. The same goes with Prime Minister Daniel Rosenberg.

Supreme Chairman of the Soledan Socialist Republic, Petero Lokorov, has a kind of form of a personality cult. He's seen by many Soledans as a ''strongman leader'' and praised for bringing standing national progress, but only a few fanatics see him as anything but a mortal being.

No, Claire Ritter Rieu has no cult of personality, in fact some commentaries go so far as to call her a mere caretaker Minister Advisor. But it's still too early to tell.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice Allen D. Cosmo has one of a sort, although he has never really acknowledged or welcomed it himself. Because he pretty much wrote Frenequesta's Constitution, his legal opinions are considered almost unquestionable by a few-- those people are known to collaborate in writing blogs, editorials, letters to the editor, and even law review articles defending him against any criticism, even on those where most legal scholars agree he dropped the ball. On a saner level, he is viewed more favorably than most government officials, with over 85% having a positive view of him, compared to a 47% average for the Minister Advisor, 43% for the Secretary of Foreign Affairs and the Economy, and 38% for the Popular Legislature. He is highly in demand to make speeches for graduations, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, and other special occasions, and even (reluctantly) gave a small piano concert for a kid's 10th birthday party.

But no figure has gone so far as to require his portrait to be displayed in every home, his/her statue in every park, etc.
I’m mostly here for... something to do, I suppose.

He is a common presence on billboards, public announcements and so on, but there is no real glorification of his achievements. His failures are, of course, hidden from the public eye.

Is there a cult of personality around your nation's leader?

Postby Parhe » Mon Nov 24, 2014 2:24 pm

While the media promotes a highly favorably view of the ruling monarchy, family, aristocracy, and national system the government itself largely attempts to downplay the development of the cult of personality around the monarchy, basically a God Prince, out of fear that stability could be lost after the loss of a ruler.

No. We do have leaders who are very much admired and it could considered a non-extreme cult of personality though (ie. Harry Goodman, George Albenbury, Henry Bakersfield, Ahmet Çelebi, etc.).

With the exception of the attempted personality cult during reign of Prime Minister Semenov in the 1940's, there is no cult of personality around any leader of Gandoor. That's not to say our leaders aren't respected and that there might not be people who really do worship them, but none is formed around them on purpose.

King James II is a beloved national figure, a visionary leader with high approval ratings, but he's not worshipped or anything like that. He certainly has an aura of celebrity, but I would say it stops short of being a cult of personality for most people.

No. Although the Prime Minister currently has fairly high approval ratings, he is notably uncharismatic.

The King's image appears often on official documents and money, etc. but he is hardly worshipped by the people- in fact most people tend to forget there even is a King.
