In days long past, the Darcsens, bringers of the great Calamity, invaded Europa, bringing her to the brink of ruin.
But the godly Valkyria heard the prayers of the people.
Brandishing spears wreathed in blue flame, they struck down the Darcsen invaders, ushering Europa into an era of peace.
In the year 1938 E.C., the Autocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance was hit by a swift and decisive civil war, which ended in a coup d'etat that overthrew the monarchy, united the nations into one, and installed a democratic government... for a while. In the spring of 1939, a National Populist movement, spurred on by bitter veterans of the Second Europan War that had ended the previous February and the working-class, swept through the country. They eventually succeeded, and united the Imperial Alliance under the banner of fascism. This was of some concern to the resource-rich Gallia, but not that much. The war was over, and even with the new movement sweeping East Europa, their military was still weakened from the Second Europan War. But by August, East Europa had built up its military to pre-war levels, and by October, they had a stronger military than the Atlantic Federation and Principality of Gallia combined.
They attacked on December 25th, 1939, first against Gallia, then against the Atlantic Federation, and lastly, against the distant, massive nation of Vespera, each attack occurring within hours of each other. This third attack would be renowned by later generations for its foolishness, for three reasons: Firstly, Vespera had almost twice the population of the Imperials, secondly they had an equally advanced military, thirdly they had slightly more ragnite than the entire Europan continent. So when Vespera started attacking Imperial bases in the enormous Procelleran Ocean, it certainly spelled trouble for them.
But that matters little [for now] to Europa, because by February 1940, the old battle lines had been drawn up, and once again, over a third of Gallia is under Imperial control.
Again.
You are a member of the 49th Regiment, Squad 196. Fairly low in the pecking order, but hey, it's a living, and you're fighting for Gallia at least. Even if the 49th's command is made up of sadists, supply is shoddy at best, and you often go on the more dangerous missions.
Yep, livin' the dream.
Nations of the World:
The Atlantic Federation
The Atlantic Federation is a commonwealth of allied democracies located in the western part of Europa and one of two major world powers on the continent.
Popular uprisings spurred on by the late 18th Century Industrial Revolution gave birth to a number of new democratic republics. The nascent Empire, formed to the east, represented a common threat, motivating a mutual defense agreement among these infant republics.
Though an elected Head Councilor acts as the Federation's chief executive, unanimous agreements are rare among the constituent republics, meaning it often takes months to enact measures. Though a series of secret alliances and gains won by extortion and blackmail put the Federation ahead of the Empire in terms of national power, they have yet to defeat them on the field of war.
During the Imperial Invasion of Gallia in the previous war, the Federation sent a team of special forces operatives masquerading as members of the Gallian Royal Guard led by Jean Townshend in an attempt to kidnap Princess Cordelia and gain control of the country's resources. Through the actions of Militia Squad 7, the kidnapping attempt was thwarted, and Jean Townshend was legally banned from entering the Gallian capital of Randgriz.
Following the Empire's failed invasion of Gallia, the Federation was able to make substantial advances along the northeastern front. The Empire however holds countervailing positions in the south. The Federation supported the Gallian Revolutionary Army during the Gallian Civil War, hoping a new Gallian government would be more cooperative and perhaps even join the Federation. This revolution, however, failed, and Gallia threatened to cut off the Federation's supply of Gallian ragnite unless reparations were made. [This is why Gallia now has a battleship even though they really don't need one. It is still under construction and has yet to be christened.]
The East Europan Autocratic State
East Europa is one of the two major Europan superpowers by 1940, and arguably the stronger of the two, and unquestionably the larger.
The Industrial Revolution that occurred when ragnite was discovered as a useful energy source saw the nations of eastern Europa, pioneers in machine technology, rise to power. Already tightly bound by a network of marriages amongst their royalty, these nations now joined hands in a formal international alliance. The Empire retain customs and practices held over from medieval times, and its people are known to harbor conservative views including a strong hatred for the Darcsen race, who are often put into forced labor camps to provide labour and materials for East Europa. The culture of East Europa is likewise rooted in medieval customs, such as the oath of fealty to the Chancellor that each soldier must make upon joining the East Europan Armed Forces.
The Empire, as East Europa was known before the summer of 1939, declared war on the Federation after the scarcity of Ragnite elevated tensions, sparking the Second Europan War. The Empire used its military superiority to quickly put the Federation on the defensive. Emboldened by their progress and momentum, the Empire decided to invade the neutral Principality of Gallia in order to seize its rich Ragnite deposits. The invasion force was led personally by Prince Maximilian and his Drei Stern, but was eventually defeated through the efforts of the Gallian militia. After the Empire's invasion failed, the Federation launched a counterattack, succeeding in advancing deep into the Empire's northeastern territories. Nevertheless, the Empire still controlled a large swathe of Federation territory in the south and the two sides remained deadlocked until the spring of 1938, when the war officially ended in a draw, with no territory gained or lost.
The rest you have already read. The monarchy collapsed at the end of 1938, and the royal family fled the country. Rumor has it they are in hiding in Gallia, but these are just rumors.
The Imperial (as it is still called) military still continues to place emphasis on armor and firepower, which leads to massive tanks with thick armor all around, including the rear, where the radiator - the weak spot of most tanks - is located.
The United Vesperan Federation
Vespera is a federal constitutional republic consisting of 55 states, with a few territories on the extreme northern and southern end of the western landmass known as Kalofornia. It has a very diverse population, terrain, and climate, along with vast resources comparable to the whole of Europa. Initally part of one of the numerous countries now making up the Atlantic Federation, it declared its independence in the late 18th Century and broke away after a war that lasted roughly eight years.
Vespera is an economic powerhouse, somewhere between the Federation and East Europa, with a military capable of matching either one. Or both at once, depending on who you ask. However, its military is mostly built for protecting itself and its territories, not full-on offense, which it is slowly switching over to. Its tanks are small and mobile, and poorly armed, like Gallia's were during the Second Europan War.
Vespera has had a foreign policy of isolationism for over a century at this point, and while East Europa's attack on their largest Procelleran base has brought them into war, they have yet to show any intention of putting troops in Europa. Or of helping either Gallia or the Federation, even if they have been openly supportive of the Federation for decades. However, now that Vespera is technically on the same side as Gallia and the Federation (that is, they are all against the Imperials), that may soon change.
Principality of Gallia
Full of nature and rich in Ragnite ore, the Principality of Gallia is a small independent nation which borders East Europa to the east and the Atlantic Federation to the south.
Gallia is a small constitutional monarchy in central Europa, ruled by House Randgriz, the hereditary sovereign of Gallia. The first ruling ancestor of the house built a castle on what is now the capital city of Randgriz shortly after the ancient War of the Valkyrur, in the 3rd century E.C. When the Empire invaded Gallia at the turn of the 19th Century, the king renounced his crown, instead ruling over an autonomous region within the Empire as archduke. But as democratic movements swept western Europa, the archduke harnessed that energy in Gallia to push for freedom from the Empire, resulting in the War of Gallian Independence.
Stretched thin between multiple fronts, the Empire was unable to maintain its hold, and the small nation rose as the independent Principality of Gallia, declaring neutrality and establishing a system of universal conscription.
It has an area of approximately 38,567 km2 [slightly larger than IRL Bhutan], but a population of just over 17 million. Its government policies are interesting for a few reasons: Firstly, despite its head of state actually being a Darcsen, it has no really well-enforced laws banning discrimination against Darcsens. Secondly, despite universal conscription, it takes a foreign policy stance of armed neutrality, and has remained neutral in worldly affairs up to this point, though that is subject to change, judging by opinions in its parliament. Thirdly, despite widespread racial discrimination (mostly against Darcsens), there seems to be no discrimination whatsoever against homosexuals, though such behavior is exceedingly rare.
Gallia has sea to its north and west, small deserts to the east, and dense forests and mountains to its south, making it well-fortified against invasions, enabling it to fight off foes much greater than itself. Roughly sixty percent of the country is hilly, fertile plains, and its mountains are exceptionally rich in ragnite ore, an important source of fuel and the key ingredient of ragnaid, a common 'medicine' used by the military. [It is also the main component of ragnide, a toxic, gaseous byproduct of ragnite mining banned as a weapon internationally, which Gallia maintains a small stockpile of outside of public knowledge]. Most of its large cities are in the northern third of the country, with the south mostly consisting of farm towns and small villages. Gallia's climate is temperate oceanic, with little variation in yearly rain levels. This enables it to be fertile and have a mixed agriculture system alongside a sizable industry.
Gallia's military is small, even compared to other nations of its size. As a result, it relies heavily on its universal conscription (of both genders) to bolster its forces in wartime. Gallia also has basic weapons training programs as a required course in all schools, ranging from the firing and maintenance of small and long arms, to brief courses on operating armored vehicles and tanks, though the latter is optional. This began shortly after the start of the First Europan War, in order to reduce the training time for conscripts. The Gallian military focuses heavily on defensive warfare - for obvious reasons. The military is divided into the regular Army, the Navy, and the Militia. Both the Army and Navy are Gallia's full time military force, made up of well trained and disciplined soldiers, whereas the Militia is composed largely of conscripts and volunteers, and exists only in wartime. Due to their inexperience in warfare and usually minimal training, members of the regular Army tend to look down on members of the Militia as little more than cannon fodder. However, the penal batallions of the Gallian Army usually end up taking on the worst missions of all, with the regular Army almost always taking the credit.
The City of Randgriz also maintains its own force of soldiers, known as the Royal Guard, who get extra training and occasionally serve as an equivalent to special forces.
Areas of Interest:
- Randgriz: The capital of Gallia since its days as a monarchy, this ancient city has the longest history of any in Europa.
- Anthold: A harbor city on the Sea of Gallia in the South. Gallia's busiest port and the site of their largest naval base.
- Bruhl: This small farming town lies on the Imperial border at the eastern edge of Gallia. Welkin Gunther and Alicia Gunther (nee Melchiott), heroes of the Second Gallian War, were born, raised, met, and married here. They currently hold the honorary rank of Captain and Master Sergeant, respectively.
- Fouzen:As one of Gallia's richest mining sites, this industry capital grew hand in hand with the evolution of ragnite science. It was also the site of one of the largest Imperial-run concentration camps of Darcsens, which was burned to the ground (along with most of the Darcsens therein) shortly after the city was recaptured by Gallian forces.
- Ghirlandaio: A very mountainous area at the northern border of Gallia. Former site of Fort Ghirlandaio, now an impassable crater after an officially 'unexplained' explosion. In reality, it was the site of Imperial general (and Valkyrur) Selvaria Bles's suicidal use of the Valkyria's Final Flame late in the Second Gallian War, which created a huge explosion, destroying the base and most of Gallia's regular army with it.
- Kloden Wildwoods: This expansive primeval forest stretches across Gallia's south, forming a natural border with the Empire. Part of this region is the Leanbluff Forest, a hilly, wooded area to the east of Anthold.
- Lanseal Military Academy: The primary military academy in Gallia, serves the Army, whereas Anthold MA serves the Navy. Technically its own city, and the current place of residence of Welkin and Alicia Gunther.
- Mellvere: A trade city situated on the River Mais in southern Gallia, not far from Randgriz.
- Yuell: A major city in central Gallia that sprouted around the prestigious Yuell University. Much of it was destroyed in the Gallian Civil War.
- Arlem Region: A plains area south of Mellvere with gently sloping terrain and fertile soil perfect for farming.
- Barious Desert: An arid, barren desert in east-central Gallia some tens of kilometers across. The ground zero of the so-called 'Darcsen Calamity' and the site of the Temple of the Valkyrur.
- Daws Desert:A desert in southern Gallia just to the north of the Diebal Mountains. Much like Barious, it is said to have been ravaged by the Darcsen Calamity and features numerous ruins. However it is much more inhospitable, despite suffering less damage. It was most likely a desert long before the Darcsen Calamity.
- Diebal Mountains: A formidable mountain range that runs parallel to Gallia's southern border. Home to much of Gallia's Darcsen population.
- Doerfein Mountains: A mountain range extremely rich in ragnite ore, even for Gallia, and home to much of Gallia's mining industry. Along with a very high population of Darcsens.
- Vasel River: The longest river in Gallia, starts at a fork to the northwest of Bruhl and flows in a 5 shape to the south. The city of Vasel straddles the river, and the Great Vasel Bridge spans the river just to the west of Randgriz.
- Cliffs of Marberry: A stretch of cliffs and open shoreline to the north of Marberry. Popular among tourists for its agreeable weather in summer, and popular among the military for its easily defended geography.
- Naggiar Plains: A vast stretch of arable land forever scarred by warfare. Of special note is a network of trenches dug in the First and Second Europan wars.
- Roendahl Canyon: A large gorge upstream and to the east of Mellvere.
Classes:
Medium Tank Lilimarleen:
Tanks are armored fighting vehicles designed primarily to destroy other tanks and OHKO anything with legs with their humongous cannon. The Principality of Gallia's military policy used to favor light, highly mobile tanks, which are very suitable for the country's overall hilly topography. However, after the events of the Second Gallia War, high command eventually bowed to logic, and now the Gallian Army has medium and heavy tanks as well. Even so, these tanks aren't as heavily armored as their Imperial counterparts, instead focusing on mobility and firepower.
Your unit's tank is nicknamed Lilimarleen. Like the famous Edelweiss, it is a medium tank, however Lilimarleen's turret is more boxlike, though it still has sloped armor on the sides and front. In OOC terms, it looks quite a bit like a Panther with a shorter cannon. It started life as a Federation tank that had crashed and been abandoned near the southern border With a little help from friends, your commander repaired it and modified it to accept Gallian munitions.
And by the way, I'm running the tank. This will be one of two tanks you will get.
T1 Scout:
Scouts are armed with medium-long ranged semi-automatic rifles, hand grenades, small ragnaid canisters, and under-barrel mounted grenade launchers. Blessed with the fastest speed of any infantry, they are the game's primary long range reconnaissance unit.
Scouts wear only light armour to increase their mobility and therefore have low defense.
In combat scouts are relatively weak in comparison to other infantry units and are ineffective against armour, however they make up for their shortcomings with their long range primary weapon and decent accuracy.
The scout unit also has excellent detection abilities, and can bounce around like a fairy. They ate all their carrots as little kids, probably.
Scouts start out equipped with:
- G1 series Rifle. En-block clip, 5 rounds, semiautomatic
- Viper-E pistol, six shots
- B-type M1 grenade
- Ragnaid [Small supply for typical wounds]
Shocktrooper:
The Shocktrooper is a core infantry class in Valkyria Chronicles. They are heavily armed soldiers who excel at close ranged anti-infantry combat, especially urban and trench warfare and have been shown throughout the series to make up the bulk of infantry in large scale assaults and defensive actions.
Shocktroopers have high defensive and offensive abilities particularly against entrenched troops and fortifications. While they lack the range and peripheral vision of a scout, and have the worst accuracy of all classes, they make up for these shortcomings with greater survivability and vastly superior damage.
Shocktroopers have average mobility and an average speed, and can evade fire reasonably well.
Shocktroopers start out equipped with:
- MAGS-1 series Submachine Rifle. 20-round pan magazine.
- Viper-E pistol, six shots
- B-type M1 grenade
- Ragnaid [Small supply for typical wounds]
T1 Lancer:
Armed with high-power launchers carrying a variety of warheads, small ragnaid canisters and equipped with heavily armoured blast shields which protect them from mines, cannon fire and mortar blasts, Lancers excel at attacks against armoured vehicles.
Lancers are relatively slow due to their heavy armors and weapons and can only carry a limited number of rockets. Lancers (and tanks) are able to clear a path (Not very straight if a lancer) through a minefield through sheer guts. Also that blast shield on their shoulder probably helps.
Lancers ain't nimble ballerinas. Just FYI.
Lancers start out equipped with:
- Lancaar-E1 series Rocket Rifle, Single rocket, 3 rounds carried
- Viper-E pistol, six shots
- Ragnaid [Small supply for typical wounds]
- Blast Shield
T1 Armored Engineer:
Armored Engineers are awesome. AEs use a large warpick that can do devastating damage to infantry but almost nothing to armor. Further, they can also place mines, set up booby traps, heal other units, and repair sandbag fortifications. As their 'firearm', they carry a trench shotgun, which can do serious damage to APCs and turrets. They also carry a huge shield that, when set down, spreads wide enough for two other people to crouch down beside it. Did I mention it can survive a hit from a mortar shell or a Lancer's rocket?
You're probably thinking that Armored Engineers are badass, and you're right. Sadly, they are also slow, and shotguns still aren't very accurate.
AEs start out equipped with:
- Warpick-A
- S-97 Shotgun, 5 rounds, tube magazine.
- Tank repair equipment
- First-aid kit
- Ragnaid [Large supply, for severe non-fracture wounds]
Sniper:
Snipers can hide just about anywhere a person can hide in with ease, boom-headshot people from extreme range thanks to the best accuracy of all classes [better even than the tank] and the most powerful of all rifles.
Unfortunately you also have almost no armor whatsoever [because armor is loud], no grenades, and you really shouldn't be moving around very much and probably shouldn't have cut gym so often. Also your gun isn't automatic. And you're a camper.
Snipers are equipped with:
- GSR-1 series sniper rifle, 5 rounds, non-detachable magazine
- Viper-E pistol, six shots
- Ragnaid [Small supply for typical wounds]
Fencer:
Such grace. Such elegance. Jack Churchill would be proud of you for carrying an enormous sword into battle, one actually used for lobbing peoples heads off. Like Armored Engineers, Fencers carry a shield, but it is lightweight, does not expand, and isn't as immune to rockets. That's okay. Fencers are fast and could probably cut a rocket in half like some sort of ninja if they really tried. Besides, they're tough as nails. They don't work with mines, cannot heal others like an Engie, and don't carry grenades of their own. If you want to use a grenade, toss back the one that Imperial just threw at you.
Fencers are pretty light on their feet, too, for obvious reasons. You could probably damage a tank with that sword, but it's not advisable. It'll probably get stuck, and then you'll be in a right mess, because you'll be stuck with a pistol.
Fencers are equipped with:
- Cival-1 series broadsword
- Viper-E pistol, six shots
- Heavy combat shield
- Ragnaid [Small supply for typical wounds]
Mauler:
What the Fencer is to infantry, the Mauler is to tanks. These infantry units walk around with a giant warhammer with a head the size of your head, a big, heavy shield that can probably withstand a rocket attack, and heavy armor so that nobody can sneak up from behind them like those puny fencer hyoo-mans. Their great big hammer can smash holes in tanks, shields, turrets, bunkers, syndicalists, tables, shins, and skulls with equal ease, though you don't do that much damage to hyoo-mans. They are too nimble to not often dodge a giant warhammer flying at their heads. And even then, hyoo-mans don't explode like tanks do when hit with a hammer. And they can often survive getting their limbs smashed to bits long enough to shoot you in the face. Waagh.
Maulers are usually decently speedy, but not as fast as Fencers. You don't get a pistol or grenades because they're really not that necessary. Try to avoid tripping, though.
Maulers are equipped with:
- HBS Partially Propelled Maul
- Heavy combat shield
- Ragnaid [Small supply for typical wounds]
Miscellaneous Information:
Ragnite is a type of mineral with many different uses, from anti-tank weapons to fuel and medicine. The country of Gallia is known for its large Ragnite deposits, centered around the city of Fouzen. Sufficiently refined Ragnite emits sunlight-like light, while Ragnite ore glows blue.
Vying for the control of known Ragnite sources is the main reason for both of East Europa's invasions of Gallia.
Ragnite sees a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications. It is primarily used as an energy source, and Ragnite engines power tanks, wheeled vehicles and even locomotives and ships. Infantry units use Ragnaids composed of Ragnite in the field to heal wounds. Ragnite derivatives are also used as propellant and payload explosives in grenades, shells and rockets, and to make strong armour plating.
The wide variety of uses indicate Ragnite is somewhat like crude oil; much as crude oil can be refined into many different hydrocarbons with differing properties, so Ragnite can be formed into numerous specific types such as the "Ragnoline" used in vehicles. Most forms of Ragnite appear to be relatively volatile, though stable forms exist. It appears to replace petrochemicals in all applications; Ragnite is used for everthing from gasoline to lamp oil. It is not entirely clear if petrochemicals are even present in Europa.
Heat seems a primary concern in a Ragnite engine; vehicles are fitted with large radiator panels to disperse it, which emit the characteristic bright blue glow of Ragnite itself when operating. While Ragnite seems to generate electricity, the power from a Ragnite engine is from mechanical action. Ragnite engines do not seem to produce visible exhaust; even though warships are seen with smokestacks, these are simply used to elevate the radiator plates, and do not produce any smoke trail.
Ragnite is mined from deep underground deposits, and mining is said to be hazardous. The refining of Ragnite is equally dangerous and involve large amounts of pungent chemicals that leave workers with a distinctive and disagreeable smell; there is significant social stigma attached to this, and it is part of the negative stereotypes surrounding the Darcsens. Gallia's primary source of Ragnite is the mining works and refinery at Fouzen.
Ragnide gas is a thick, blue aerosol and a powerful nerve agent, apparently used extensively during EW1: it was banned by the Land War Treaty of the continental council, but Gallia still maintains some stocks of Ragnide shells in "pre war armouries."
The Darcsens are Europa's oldest indigenous race, said to have lived across the continent since ancient times. They are characterized by their dark blue-black hair and shawls or various accessories bearing the traditional Darcsen pattern, shown above.
History tells of a "Darcsen Calamity" in which this race devastated the continent until the Valkyrur defeated them in the War of the Valkyrur. For their crimes of senseless destruction, the Darcsens were stripped of their last names and chased from their jobs and property, and remain the target of hatred and persecution. In actuality, the Darcsens were defeated in the war by the invading Valkyrur, who rewrote history to portray themselves as the heroes and to vilify the Darcsens. They then went as far as to strip them of their surnames, enslave them, and build a temple to themselves near what was once one of the largest Darcsen settlements in Europa, in the Barious desert. Very little historical evidence exists proving the 'Darcsen Calamity' ever happened.
Recent use of Darcsen labor to mine and smelt Ragnite in refinery sites full of pungent oils has given rise to a new set of stereotypes. Many students and co-workers would describe Darcsen classmates as 'doomy, gloomy, meek in combat and not team-minded'. While some of it may hold true because of their passive nature, many skilled engineers and notable geniuses come from Darcsens. Possibly the most famous of all is Theimer , whose work on millitary arms and vehicles stem from machine guns (like the T-Mag) to tanks and airplanes (such as the Edelweiss and the ISARA biplane.)
Despite endless derision and persecution, the Darcsens remain a proud race with a rich, unique culture. Most Darcsens now live in settlements on mining camps such as the Doerfein Mining Quarter, many still thrive on abandoned camps near Diebal mountains. There area some living in big cities such as Randgriz, and some studying on prestige Universities and academies such as Lanseal.
While anti-Darcsen discrimination is already fairly intense in many areas of Gallia [though this has tailed off since the Archduchess' announcement of having Darcsen blood herself] and in the Federation, in East Europa hatred for the Darcsens has always been at the extreme. For examples, one needs to look no further than the labor camps they built in and around Fouzen when they invaded in 1935, and the 'hunter squads', death squads of soldiers created for the sole purpose of finding and annihilating Darcsen communities, either turning the inhabitants into slaves or killing them on the spot.
The Valkyrur were a race of warriors who came from somewhere north of Europa. Even though the Valkyrur as a race have long since disappeared [Officialy. In actuality they are merely extremely rare], they are still worshiped by some religions, the largest of which is the Yggdist sect.
Though believed to be an oceanic tribe that crossed into Europa via the North Sea, much of their historical origin remains unproven by archeological fact. According to legend, they made peace between the Darcsens who were fighting each other with ragnite weaponry and destroying Europa. However, the truth is they were the invaders who with their advanced ragnite weaponry, subdue the Darcsen natives and conquered Europa.
By the end of the 2nd Century after the conquest, the Valkyrur disappeared almost entirely from Europa and it is largely believed that their genetic pool was gradually diluted by interbreeding with natives.
While not much is known about Valkyrur culture, it is known that the spiral featured heavily into their culture. The only known temple that was left by them is built in the shape of a "dreadnautilus", a type of Europan sea creature. It is located in the Barious desert, near a large ruin.
The most well-known ability that the Valkyrur possessed was their ability to channel and unleash the energy present within highly refined ragnite that allowed them to perform superhuman feats. Besides this, they were also capable of extremely rapid healing and remarkable durability.
The Valkyrur were also able to refine Ragnite to levels of purity even greater than what can be accomplished with current Europan technology.
The most common artifact of them is the Valkyrur lance and shield, made of refined ragnite, the same type as found in the walls of the Barious temple. The shields are round while the lances take the shape of a spiral shell, made from ragnite more pure than even current refining technology can produce. While some variation exists among the weapons' shapes, all of them follow a design known as the Valkyrur Spiral as a core motif.
Because contact with a Valkyria triggers a physical alteration to the weapons' shape, they are believed to serve as amplifiers for the race's preternatural abilities. When not in contact with a Valkyria, they curiously only glow with a weak light, and are a pale bluish-white. However, in order for the weapon to become 'active', the Valkyria themself must 'activate' their powers, which only happens when they become seriously wounded. Before activation, there is no discernible difference between Valkyrur and any other race.
The native spoken language of the Valkyrur is known as Old Northern, while the native written language is known simply as Old Northern Script.

Da Rules:
- Thou shalt obey OP, my word is law.
- I'd like at least 4 lines per post. They should be grammatically correct sentences, too.
- No godmodding. You aren't a Valkrur [unless I say you are, which I most likely will not], you cannot bitchslap heavy tanks around with your bare hand or a single Lancaar rocket.
- 3 strikes = You being kicked. When you return, you will be on one-strike probation until I decide you've chillaxed enough to get your other two strikes back.
- If you are inactive for a week or more, and want to rejoin, TG me before posting. I may request you make a new character.
- Your characters will all be Gallian. Or, at least, they will be Imperial dissenters/Darcsens who fled to Gallia, or Federation immigrants to Gallia.
- Not everybody can be an Armored Engineer. If you see two accepted apps for Armored Engineers accepted, don't make a third. This goes for Fencers and Maulers as well.
- People I have TG invited, Agritum, and Zeinbrad do not need to provide RP samples.
