Which third party is your favorite?

Postby Potenco » Fri Nov 21, 2014 2:02 pm

I included as much as I could and included a variety of options. Basically, if Republicans or democrats werent an option next time you voted, what party would you vote?

I went with Workers World Party, which is what im already politically involved with
Social Democrat/Democratic Socialist depending on the weather.
Very Bisexual-Probably a 4 on the Kinsey Scale
Pro:US Democratic Party, Social Democracy, Bayard Rustin's ideals, Hopefully a Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren for President in 2020. Recent convert to the episcopal church from atheism and a fan of distributist thinking and christian democracy.
Anti: Paleoconservative bullshit, dicksuck Austrian economics

I always thought it was odd that liberterians all seem to vote liberterian. I would imagine them splitting into weird factions like the Rothbard Party, Classical Liberal Party, The Nozickean Front considering how much disagreement exists between them online

Americocentrism. There are posters from other countries here you know. Maybe you should title your thread and poll accordingly

Even with the Republicans and Democrats as options, the only party that I know of that I can stomach voting for is the Libertarian Party.

I would definitely vote for the candidate put up by my party, The Modern Whig Party.

Out of all the well-known US third parties, I'd say the Greens, though I disagree with them on a number of issues. I should probably add that I'm an outside observer, as I'm not a US citizen or resident :p

Third parties are a pretty distinctly American phenomena though. Plus I only had space for ten options, if you feel like mentioning others, bring them up in the comments

The Canadian NDP? Technically, they're a second party.

The Justice Party. They're a centre left party with a fairly decent platform. Unfortunately, they seem a bit too populistic, and I doubt they'll field a candidate in 2016.

I am very far left-wing socially and economically in between capitalism and communism.
I'm sort of a "Radical Centrist", I guess. I support the Australian Green Party most out of any political party, though I don't fully agree with anyone.

Despite its tendency toward libertarianism, I've been known to support candidates from Minnesota's Independence Party. I also hold a much more favorable view of the MN-DFL than the national Democratic Party and wish Farmer-Labor still existed independently...

I only vote in local elections, so none of the national third parties really appeal to me.

In realistic terms - a Green Party candidate would the most likely to be able to convince me to vote in national elections, because they're the only third party I could halfassedly support that might field a competitive candidate. How's that for noncommittal?

I vote for nobody. I don't need a ruler, and "representatives" cannot represent me.
The Empire of Pretantia wrote:[...] TLDR; welcome to the internet. Bicker or GTFO.
"Why is self-control, autonomy, such a threat to authority? Because the person who controls himself, who is his own master, has no need for an authority to be his master. This, then, renders authority unemployed. What is he to do if he cannot control others? To be sure, he could mind his own business. But that is a fatuous answer, for those who are satisfied to mind their own business do not aspire to become authorities." ~ Thomas Szasz

None of them are local. If I can't have coffee with them, I don't care. I can occupy myself alone better than they can.
