Liberty City is a city of corruption, greed, violence, and destruction. It is home to corrupt Cops and Politicians, foreign Mafia's, Italian Mafia's, and just plain bad people. The land itself has not escaped bloodshed since its founding over 300 years ago, and many believe it will never recover. I mean, be realistic, this is Liberty City...

Gambetti Crime Family: The Gambetti crime family are the strongest and most-powerful of the Liberty City Cosa Nostra families in The Commission during Grand Theft Auto IV, led by mafia Don Jon Gravelli since 1978. They are based in Broker, Dukes, and Algonquin. They are most likely the strongest gang in Liberty City. They are possibly, the most legitimate Family since they have many businesses spreading all over the city. According to Gravelli they have controlled many lucrative rackets including windows, bus lines and cleaning since 1958. It is unknown if they also control parts of Alderney but this is most unlikely because the Ancelotti Family control parts of Alderney along with the Pegorino Family. It is a very big family, but with many unknown members. This particular mob family came into conflict with the Korean Mob, Ancelotti Family, and the Rascalov Family, formerly known as Faustin Family led by Dimitri Rascalov.

Pavano Crime Family: The Pavano crime family is the second-most powerful of the Mafia families on the Liberty City Commission. The Pavano's are primarily based in Algonquin. The family is said to be controlled by 60 year old Mary Valvona, along with her 40-year-old ex-lover Arthur Zepulla who is the family's official consigliere. Mary Valvona and Zepulla are suspects in the murder of her former husband and boss Mario Valvona in the 1990s. The Street boss was Joe Corrola until his death in 2008. He was in charge of the family's heroin distribution ring. Mario Venturella is the longest lasting lovers of Mary and is an Algonquin based cat-burglar. Vito Menotti, a former Pavano hitman turned states against them in 2008.

Messina Crime Family: The Messina crime family is the third most-powerful of the Mafia families based in Liberty City, and part of the Cosa Nostra Commission. The Messina syndicate is based in Algonquin and Dukes, but also controls Little Italy alongside the other families. The family is believed to be led by Harvey Noto, who was able to establish himself at the top of the organization after a long and bloody power struggle. Mark Volpe is a Capo whilst Fredo Volpe, another Capo and brother of Mark, has been a police informant since 1998. Harry Hall is the Underboss/Consigliere of the Messina family.

Lupisella Crime Family: The Lupisella crime family is the fourth-most powerful Mafia family of the Liberty City Commission. The Lupisella family operate in Bohan, Liberty City.

Ancelotti Crime Family: The Ancelottis are the weakest family on the Commission, which leads them to depend on Albanian Muscle to back them up. There isn't much else to say...

In addition to the above, there are various other Russian, Irish, blah blah black sheep...

You live in Liberty City. You may be a Mobster, a corrupt cop, a good cop, maybe a civilian trying to get by. It's all up to you...

Bio:

Michael was born the third of 3 boys and 1 girl. His father was in the FDLC, and his mother worked extra shifts in the Clucking Bell to keep a roof over their heads, clothes on their backs, and food in their stomachs. When Michael was 9, his Dad died in a fire, and his mother fell into a deep depression, which led to drinking problems. Michael and his siblings were sent away to a Foster Home when he was 10, but when he turned 13, he ran away, eventually being found by Gambetti Member named Joseph Patchino, who subsequently took him under his wing. Patchino taught Michael the business, and how, while it was not good, everyone has to make a living. When he was 19, he left Liberty City and joined the FDNY, where he went through Proby school and became an NYC Firefighter. He was at Ground Zero for weeks until taking part in the Iraq Campaign. He returned home later and became a member of the Family.
Today, he is a respected member of the Family, though his approach towards different situations is always less violent than other's would like. He is, as of now, single. HIS SIBLINGS ARE PLAYABLE CHARACTERS!!

Bio: Erin grew up in Ireland, she came from a lower class catholic family with some rather dangerous connections. Her father, his father, and even his father had participated in the IRA, shooting, bombing and avoiding the British army and eventually the Police. Erin always looked up to her father as some sort of hero, a Freedom fighter For the Irish people. That was until she turned 14. She came home early from school one day, the door to her house in the city of Belfast was locked. Annoyed she headed to their garage, usually it was left unlocked and had a door in to the house. However as she pulled open the metal gate a sight that had scarred her for the rest of her life was unveiled.
Her father and some men in masks were torturing a young man, the man looked horrified, so afraid. Her father looked evil, rejoicing in his torture. Later on her father had explained the man was a drug dealer in her community, but what her father had been doing was not justice.

Growing up in the poorer end of the conflicted city wasn't easy. She learned how to fight, how to flee and a lot about human nature. She was usually left alone by her own side due to her fathers connections, but to protestants she was just another catholic. At age 16 her brother was killed in a gunfight with the Police, oddly this turned her against her own family rather than the Authority. She cut off contact and moved into a community hostel, lying about her age.

She worked long nights as a waitress to pay her way, took on swimming to vent stress. After a while she decided to do something with her life, she enlisted with the Northern Ireland Police service. 1 Year after leaving the college she received her first death threat, more came but she ignored them. One night whilst out on patrol they found her. They beat her black and blue, burned her car and broke her legs. After a long recovery she received one final warning.

Leave the country...

She did, and so then she found herself in Liberty city. It was nothing like Ireland.

Bio: Jamie has had a sad life. Born in East London into a poor Family a Five, including his younger Sister and Brother, he found that his Parents had Jobs too low-paying to support them all and that nobody would help them. Under those circumstances, an faced with Starving Family, wouldn't you do what he did? He began stealing small things, at the age of 14, such as Bits of food and small items that nobody would notice were missing. But his Brother and Sister were growing, and they needed more food. So he began stealing larger things. When he stole a local Gang leader's watch, the Gang was so angry they went after him. Luckily for him, he was out on a walk in the Park with his siblings, but his Parents weren't. They both were brutally stabbed to death. Realizing that he and his siblings weren't safe in the life they were on, he, now 18, signed up for the army. He just barely passed the exams, and with that, he sent his siblings off to an Orphanage. At the back of his mind, he still considers looking for them. He fought IRA militants in Northern Ireland. He has no impressive Combat Record, and his tour of duty ended with him as a PFC. Having been changed by the bloody murder of his Parents and the horrors of the War on Terrorism, he gathered a bunch of his fellow ex-Soldiers and formed a Gang with them. They all operate under Pseudonyms when in the Company of Others. His is 'Rain.' He and his Gang competed with other Gangs for a while, until finally they were caught by the Police. Escaping with Two of his Fellow Gang Members, they have now come to Liberty City to rebuild their Gang. They have set up a Contract to work as Hired Muscle for the Gambetti. The only problem is, he is currently lost in Liberty City and doesn't know where his fellow Gang Members are...

Just so you know, his Siblings and fellow British Gang Members are totally Playable Characters.

Bio: Same as Jamie's, up to The Orphanage. She was quickly adopted along with her Brother into a Rich British Family. She went to a Private High school, and once she Graduated she got a Job as a Brilliant Actor and starred in a Couple Movies. She HAD always loved Drama. Then she heard her Brother was almost caught but then escaped for America. She quit her Job, despite a rising career, went to Liberty City, and found Job as an Actress there.
