El Cuscatlan wrote:Now let me state what is not okay with Souriya's recent post:
KH22MA. This missile has speed of MACH 6. My Falling Star missile has speed of MACH 3.3. Tomahawk has speed of 890 km/h. 1Mach = 1225.0kph. Sukhoi 35 performance:
At altitude: Mach 2.25 (2,390 km/h, 1,490 mph)
At sea level: Mach 1.15 (1,400 km/h, 870 mph)
So, I doubt that with SU 35 you will be able to stop even ONE KH22MA. First, SU35 were never built for intercepting missiles, second KH22MA is simply too fast for being intercepted by missile created to shoot down aircraft.

Riysa wrote:Theoretically, it is possible for a plane to engage in anti-cruise missile defense, but no intercepts have occurred against supersonic missiles. It is theoretically possible that the S-400 and S-500 can engage cruise missiles, but are designed to intercept ballistic missiles. Whether its missiles are agile enough to intercept a cruise missile descending close to the ground is anyone's guess, but Almazy claims a 70% hit chance on a subsonic Harpoon-type weapon.
I'd presume there would be some interceptions by the strategic SAM systems, but definitely no planes.
ETA: Going to throw out there that the 40N6 is designed for hitting easy targets, such as large EW planes and the like, as it has terrible maneuverability.

Su-35 is a successor to Su-27 & Su-30, moreover according to some sites I read, they can be used to an extent to intercept missiles. Perhaps not ones like the Mach 3,3 & Mach 6 GC utilised, however on Tomahawks I think they can.
