The Kagoshima Industrialisation Conference [KaC ONLY]

Postby Kherkov » Fri Oct 31, 2014 9:35 am

The Kagoshima Industrialisation Conference
Kingdoms and Colonies RPers ONLY!

A Note

You will have read in the Emperor's letter to focus on a particular aspect or two that your nation specialises in, as well as bringing technology for the economic and political modernisation of Japan also. I am aware that more than one nation will specialise in the army, or navy, etc. As no-one's tech is allaround outright better than anyone else's, it would be best if you could focus on a particular aspect or two that makes your technology good. Do your muskets have a design that allows them to be reloaded faster? Are they more accurate because of the barrel design? Are your soldiers particularly well disciplined or loyal? Do you have a good supply system to combat attrition? The list goes on. The point is, don't just describe your weaponry/tech as generally amazing, specify what about it is good.

We're going to start the conference straight away. The agenda has been explained to each delegation and each has been shown their accommodation. The conference has been divided into a numer of 'exhibits'. In each exhibit, delegations will provide demonstrations of their technology while explaining how each works. This is more for show and to make this bit of the RP interesting: the delegations will later go off with a group of Japanese workers and the like to discuss how the nation will be modernised, which will all be done behind the scenes.

Day 1 - Army Exhibit (Small arms, artillery, soldier training & tactics etc)
Day 2 - Navy Exhibit (Sailing techniques, naval firepower, sailor training & tactics etc)
Day 3 - Economic Exhibit (Machine labour etc)
Days 4 - 8 - Discussions (Includes political & administrative modernisation, cartography, implementation of technology and long-term modernisation, trade deals)
Day 9 - End (Emperor decides which nations will be allowed to modernise Japan and what they will be doing)
ITEMS IN BOLD WILL BE RPED.

After a day's rest, the delegations have been invited out, first to display the prowess of their land forces.

Kagoshima, Kyushu, Japanese Empire - Autumn 1775

The venue for the Army Exhibit was a large field, on the outskirts of the city. Crowds of people had flocked to watch, but the Samurai ensured that they kept their distance. The Emperor sat in a large wooden tower, watching the delegations as they gathered at the end of the field. Whilst most of the Imperial Court was present, there was one important figure missing, and that was the Shogun. He was nowhere to be seen. Nevertheless, the show had to go on, and the Emperor motioned for a delegation to come forward and show off its skill.
