From the icy, vast land full of maple trees and auroras in Northwestern AO; to hundreds of islands full of snow in Southeastern Esportiva; as well as all kinds of places stuck in between; the World Cup has had an impact on nations all over the multiverse for sixty-nine editions. With it there have been one, sole entrance for the welcomers in the name of the Baptism of Fire, with 56 of them to count. Right now, the history looks to be rewritten, as another one of welcomes is arranged for the newcomers.

Welcome to the thread for the 57th Baptism of Fire.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?

Welcome to your first World Cup Committee (WCC) tournament, and for many of you - welcome to NS Sports!

Many of you will have no idea what's going on now (Most of use don't!), and that is fine. The first step is simple, signing up. Next you have to create a roster, this is your squad of players - whether they be human, horse, some mystical alien thing or even an inanimate pot - we've had them all! As this is the first football/soccer tournament for many of you, you get to make your players from scratch, the more detailed the better, to help you I recommendBehind The Name, or you could even make your own name generator! Next on your roster is your style of play ranging from -5 to 5, -5 is ultra defensive (think Chelsea in the Champions League) and 5 is ultra attacking. Finally is your RP permissions, which is letting your opponent know what they can do with your players and team, and example can be found below.

Then comes the role playing, which can range from anything from a match report, a first hand story, a press conference or even non-sporting events. RPs are graded by the host, and the better the RP, the better your chances are of winning.

In the olden days of NS Sports, scores were generated with dice, but now we use a program called xkoronate (or NSFS) to simulate results. Results are generated using the three R's. Rank - in WCC events this is called the KPB Ranking, but as this is the Baptism of Fire, everyone is on zero. Next is RP, which especially in the Baptism of Fire is the most important, this is the figure of what you write graded by the hosts and the final is the killer, Randomness (also known as Margaret). Randomness ensures any team has a slim chance of winning, and it is important to remember even the best team in the Multiverse can lose to a non-RPing, rankless team (You had to be there), so never write your team off.

Finally you just have to patiently wait for cutoff, which comes at a regular time each night, which will be 15:30-16:30 UTC for The Sarian and 0:30-02:30 UTC for Québec.

ALL-STAR GAME

After the conclusion of the tournament, a select XI will be selected from amongst the competing nations, based on players RPed by the particpants. They will play first The Sarian and then Québec, followed by a short RP by each host. Selection would be based on player performances / profiles RPed throughout the tournament, with the most impressive making up the team.

Visitors Guide to The Sarian: Baptism of Fire Edition

The Federated Isles of The Sarian, The Sarian Federation or simply The Sarian is an archipelago located in Esportiva. The principal islands are about 300 miles (500 km) north of Infore. The archipelago, which has an area of 47,000 square miles (122,000 km²), comprises Isle Saria, Isle Regis, Isle Kensingtea, Isle Oakhurst and many other smaller Islands. Each Island contains it's own unicameral legislative body, with the countries national assembly taking responsibility for its defence, finance and foreign affairs. The islands' capital and largest city is Chippenham on Isle Saria.

The population, estimated at 23,000,000 in 2149, primarily consists of native Sarian, although other nationalities include Yttribians, Nepharan and Lojish. The predominant and official language is Sarian English. Other widely spoken languages are Spanish, Norwegian, Latvian and Lojish.

The islands lie on the boundary of the subarctic and temperate maritime climate zones with both major islands having mountain ranges reaching to 46,000 feet (14,000 m). The islands are home to large bird populations, although many no longer breed on the main islands because of the effects of introduced species. Major economic activities include fashion, oil exploration , tourism, and sheep farming with an emphasis on high-quality wool exports.

ROYAL KINGDOM OF QUEBEC

Transportation

To arrive in Quebec you'll likely just want to fly in to the city that you will be playing in. The 3 cities going to be hosting the tournament, with all of them possessing a major airport. If you insist on arriving via waterways, then there's nothing to worry, as all 3 holds a port able to hold most vessels.

While travelling inside country, there are main methods you can use for this. The railways here isn't as quick as it'd be with other nations(the maximum speed being 225km for the fastest train service), but they are extremely punctual/on-time, popular and frequent(one train per 30 minutes), making it a very cost-effective and attractive option. Quebec does possess a strong auto industry and cars are somewhat prevalent, so you can travel via cars if interested. Flying between those three cities are not recommended as there are not only very few flights, but also there's no need for them.

Lodging

There will be some hotels of high-calibre(at least 4 star ones) available in those cities. However, those 4 cities being medium-sized cities, there will be some issues. The same will not be guaranteed with the visiting fans as there will be mass influx of Quebecois citizens as well, to watch the games. Therefore it is recommended to make reservations 3-4 months ahead of the tournament, in order to guarantee your reservation in the hotels around the city.

If you are still in trouble of finding hotel or motel suites, there will be hotels, motels and other modes of accomodation available at your expense, on towns slightly far away from the venues(50km-100km). For more information please contact Tourism Quebec or for more specific information any tourism agency of the city/cities you'll be off to(OOC: TG The Royal Kingdom of Quebec if you have any questions or so).

Weather

Royal Kingdom of Quebec is located in Temperate and Polar regions, with the cities located in varying degrees of climate zones so all 4 seasons can be experienced each year, but with different extremes. As this tournament is held during the month of January, temperatures will be and stay below freezing, with an extreme possibility of frequent snowfall daily. This will not affect the train services, though it'll do more than enough job of freezing people up, as all of the games will be held outdoors.

Languages

There are three official languages in this nation: English, French and Korean. All 3 languages are taught in school curriculum and with great depth, causing most of the population to be at least trilingual. Additionally, in this part of the nation there are some other First Nations languages being recognised as regional languages and are used+learned to great depth in schools, so please note this when you're RPing in Quebec. Most Quebecois you'll meet are extremely polyglot and that will show with way they speak.

When it comes to linguistic status on city that you're RPing on/about, you're more than welcome to TG The Royal Kingdom of Quebec about it.

Money

The national currency of Quebec is Quebecois Dollar, which is fairly expensive. The current exchange rate is $3 NS for 1 Quebecois dollar. With the nation being rich with huge economy, almost everyone will have at least has a good deal of money here. So please don't feel surprised if the products are much more expensive here than back home, excluding alcohol.

Things you'll need in your stay, prices in NS Dollars (NS$) and Quebecois Dollars (Q$)

-Hotel: NS$ 35-400, Q$12-135
-Public transport in the cities: NS$2-$5, Q$0.7-1.7
-Bus transport to different cities: NS$5-50, Q$1.7-17
-Train transport to different cities: NS$6-80, Q$2-28
-Ferry between lakes: NS$5-$12, Q$1.7-4
-Flights between cities: NS$65-150, Q$22-50
-Average cost of food: NS$12-45, Q$4-15
-Hockey tickets: NS$60-600, Q$20-200 (TG The Royal Kingdom of Quebec for hockey tickets of each match, for they all vary between arenas and matches)
-Bottle of water: NS$9, Q$3 (Sale of bottled water extremely limited, with public fountains providing very low interest for the people)
-Public phone: NS$1.5 per call, Q$0.5 per call

Entertainment

Mediums of entertainment are largely varied based upon where you go. It's time for a handy chart.

Kingston: Some museums, more sports, Nightclubs, sailing
Montreal: Nightclubs, bars, live performances(theatre, music, etc), some museum, more sports
Quebec City: Movies, Symphonies, Traditional Arts(especially at the older parts of city), Museums(the city has 47 museums according to the Tourisme-Capitale website)
Iqaluit: Hockey(city of 750,000 with 25,000 hockey rinks is certainly a hockey town ;) ), Inuit traditional arts, Rock(more into alternative and modern) Concerts

Once again, if you have any questions, please TG the very guy behind this.

Cuisine

Quebecois cuisine has evolved through centuries of social and political change. Originating from dominant Korean and elegant French cuisine that came with settlers, as well as materials and existing food of the First Nations living in the area, Quebecois cuisine has evolved through a complex interaction of the natural environment and different cultural trends and is the best mix of it all.

Quebecois cuisine is largely based upon rice, other diverse kinds of grains, vegetables, and meats(in this area moose and caribou, and to rare cases bears). The meals are noted for the number of side dishes (banchan) that accompany steam-cooked short-grain rice. It varies on the personal preferences but often in every meal they eat at least some form of maple syrup, Kimchi and/or bread. Commonly used ingredients include sesame oil, doenjang (fermented bean paste), soy sauce, salt, garlic, ginger, pepper flakes and gochujang (fermented red chili paste). In this part of the nation, fish are caught off the rivers and lakes to be eaten in whatever the way one prefers as well.

Ingredients and dishes vary by region to region, with many. Many regional dishes have become national, and dishes that were once regional have proliferated in different variations across the country.
Meals are regulated by cultural etiquette, which are very hard to follow for even the average Quebecois due to all the processes they take.

TG The Royal Kingdom of Quebec for any questions.

Religion

Quebec is a religiously diverse country, though divided when it comes to dominant regions. In the cities where the World Cup of Hockey will be hosted, First Nations' religions are widely practiced, with Quebecois Catholic Church and Buddhism right behind. Due to these differences, all three levels of Government keeps some separation from any religions, though they still hold some influences in those levels and receive lots of funding. It is also not recommended to argue about politics or religion in Quebec, as political and religious apathy is not known....for most part.

Laws

Culturally and socially, Quebec is in bit of a mix. Another handy chart will be in place to explain some of Quebec's laws in place:

Recreational drugs: Legal, though selling them without licence can lead to up to $10,000 in fines and 5 years in jail.
Hard drugs: Illegal, with punishments up to $50,000 in fines and 15 years in jail for possession and consumption of the drugs
Prostitution: Legal, though people's attitudes about it will be very conservative in this part of the nation
Pornography: Legal, aside from child pornography(applies to any pornographic videos or anything else starring people up to 18 years of age). Possession of child pornography will land you straight in jail for 5 years, while production and distribution of it can lead to potential death sentence. So, don't try it as it's a big no-no.
Legal age for tobacco: Varies (16 in Val d'Or and Rouyn-Noranda, 19 in Churchill and Winnipeg, 18 in rest)
Legal age for alcohol: 16
Maximum BAC to drive: 0.03.
Saying the word 'Coconut': Legal

All the foreign citizens caught under the Federal and/or Provincial law will not be extradited, unless of a special order given by the Emperor, His Imperial Majesty the Jacques IX.

Quebec City

Quebec City is the second largest and the capital city of the nation. Compared to other cities, it is particularly a Franco-Korean(with latter more dominant) city, which makes playing in/visiting the city quite unique. The general demographics tend to be slightly older than national average. There are certainly lots of places to visit: The city is home to 24 museums, 56 theatres and over 100 cultural institutions in place, with many artisans producing works that were in place as early as 800s. An example is USC. Universite St.Croix is the nation's most accredited learning institution, producing some of multiverse's leading scholars, businessmen and of course leaders.

Capacity: 134,880 (Standing room: 73,800)
City: Quebec City, Capitale-Nationale
Home team(s): CSKA Quebec (Q-League Elite Division)
Matches Hosted: Group E, Round of Sixteen, Final

Kingston

Kingston is a major city in the Southwestern corner of the nation, with the population of 3 million. an international centre for business and finanace. The city's cosmopolitan and international population reflects its status as one of most important destinations for immigrants to this Esquarian nation. The city itself is a mix of different periods and styles in history, which draws attentions to many visitors and residents. However, the city itself is quite weak on culture, a huge downer for one of Quebec's largest cities.

Capacity: 47,560
City: Kingston, Frontenac
Home team(s): Kingston FC (Q-League Elite Division), Kingston Argonauts (Quebec Football League)
Matches to be Hosted: Group F, Second match of Group I, Quarterfinals

Montreal

Montreal is the largest city of the Royal Kingdom of Quebec. With the population of 12 million in the area, the city is the centre of Quebec's economy, culture, commerce, finance, industry, transportation and sports. While there are plenty of things to do there, we won't get to all of them(the list is too long and OOCly hard for me to write). The demographics tends to be younger and more educated than the national average.

Image

Stade Olympia
Capacity: 57,880
City: Montreal, Montreal
Home team(s): Montreal Koreana (Q-League Elite Division), Montreal City (Q-League Challenge Division), Montreal Alouettes (Quebec Football League)
Matches to be Hosted: Group G, Round of Sixteen, Quarterfinals

Iqaluit

Iqaluit is a city of 750,000 people, most of them Inuits. With average winter temperature of -27'C, It is by far the coldest major city in Quebec, located right in the Esquarian Arctic. Therefore, most of the transportation is done through subways and underground hallways, which are often well known for being insulating, as well as luxurious. The city is extremely well known for its love of hockey, having 25,000 hockey arenas and rinks in a city of 750,000, but football is well-followed with Iqaluit Red Army drawing huge attendance figures.

Gregory Llama Land Roster

Recently, a tourist exploring Gregory Llama Land's Llama Island discovered that the llamas were sapient and of human-like intelligence. Nobody previously knew that since they did not speak English. However, the tourist learned the llamas' language and taught them English. So now Gregory Llama Land is a freedom-loving land of sapient llamas and humans who live together in peace and harmony, where everything is legal unless it involves force or fraud against another individual's life, liberty, or property. Its motto, "Llamas, Liberty, Life" exemplifies everything that is good about Gregory Llama Land. It is named after its founder, Gregory Kochenstein, who is unrelated to Lord Almighty Gregory.

The leader of Gregory Llama Land is called the Grand Llamachief and is elected every year on November 13, to take office on December 15. There is also the Llamaslature, which consists of 100 members elected through proportional voting in the Llamasenate, and 500 members elected in local districts in the People's House. Shortly after the discovery of sapient llamas, two constitutional amendments were passed, one guaranteeing equal rights for llamas and other sapient creatures, and another doubling the size of each body effective with the next election and guaranteeing half the seats to llamas. As a result, following the 2014 Election, the Llamasenate will double to 200 members, 100 llamas and 100 humans, and the People's House will double to 1,000 members, 500 humans and 500 llamas. All politicians are limited to one consecutive term in office. This also means they cannot run for another office while holding office. It is permissible to hold the same office or multiple offices multiple times, but not consecutively. The current human population of Gregory Llama Land is estimated at 750,000, while the current llama population is estimated at 550,000. Following the discovery of llamas' sapience, they proceeded to integrate in human communities for the most part, whereas previously they had lived in isolated islands.

Of note, the llamas also failed to recognize the humans were sapient for pretty much the same reason the humans failed to recognize the llamas were. As a result, there were no reparations paid by either side.

POLAASKAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM, OFFICIAL BAPTISM OF FIRE 57 SQUAD

NATIONAL STADIUM - Natunolstadjon, Polaaberg, 63,000
HOME KIT - Dark Blue with White trim
AWAY KIT - White with Dark Blue trim

STAFF:
Manager: Ulrik Leonardsen, 51 (SEM)
Usually, most national teams won’t appoint a foreign manager as their first manager. Well, Polaaskan have. They’ve looked to experienced Semar Ulrik Leonardsen, who has managed the national teams of Matykland and Haelesces. Ulrik Leonardsen has been known to use tactics such as the 4-3-1-2, or “the Iceberg”, made famous by Polar Islandstates many cycles ago. Well, his signature one at the moment is the 4-2-3-1, or, more favourable at the moment, the 4-1-2-1-2, so look out for either of those when Polaaskan play. Other than that, Leonardsen is a rather quiet man, rarely speaking to the media. Once, when he was managing Rumenlo Sapruna in Semarland, he made his assistant speak to the media. But when it is on the pitch, he sure has a loud voice, and will be there to put the motivation behind the team.

Assistant Manager: Jakob Freidrich, 39
It’s always hard to find a good assistant that’ll go well with your manager, when they do not come together. Well, the PFA thought that 39 year old Freidrich, who led SC Martinsberg to the title in the last pre-PFA Season, would be the right man for the job. Despite his young age, Freidrich is a tactical genius. Surpisingly, Freidrich is the tactician and Leonardsen is the shouter, many think it should be the other way round! But Freidrich has stated himself he does not wish to work as the manager yet, wanting to have some more experience in his career before he goes onto managing a national team. But anyway, Freidrich is perfect for Leonardsen, and Leonarden without Freidrich will be like cereal without milk.

PLAYERS:
#1 - GK - Teemu Petersen - Age 25 - SK Martinsberg - 3 Caps
Towering goalkeeper Teemu Petersen kept the most cleansheets out of any other goalkeeper in the last three pre-PFA seasons. With some slight Semar ancestry, he was even asked to play for the Semarland national team, as Polaaskan did not even have an FA, let alone a national team. But Petersen refused and kept loyal to his country, believing that one day that national call-up will come. And here he is, No.1 for his club and No.1 for his country, going to Polaaskan’s first ever football tournament, the Baptism of Fire, and then the 70th World Cup. What more could be better for Teemu? Aside from that, he has a good relationship with his team mates, and is the perfect goalkeeper for Leonardsen and Freidrich’s plans.

#2 - RB - Jonathan van Leonardsen - Age 23 - SCKH - 2 caps
Jonathan van Leonardsen is the perfect definition of a wing-back. Marauding, fast, an outstanding cross. One of the fastest players on the team, van Leonardsen could easily have been a sprinter, like his father and uncle. But, after being scouted by Nq85 at 9 years old, van Leonardsen never looked back and secured a move to SCKH as soon as the trials ended. Drawing comparisons to the likes of Magnus Hardstrom and Petter Berg, who never got to play for the national team, van Leonardsen is highly rated. Probably going to be selected over the more defensive Timo Asker, van Leonardsen could make this right-back spot all his for many years to come.

#3 - LB - Vasili Semshov - Age 24 - Oslo Klub - 3 caps
Vasili Semshov, like van Leonardsen on the right-hand side, is a wing-back. Though he does not have exactly blistering pace like van Leonardsen, he’s still fast and has all the other qualities of a wing-back. Semshov, like other players, started off at Azhlesk Dynamos, before moving to SK Lundsholm at 12 years old. At the end of his scholarship, he was surprisingly released but picked up by Oslo Klub, who nurtured and transformed into a marauding, attacking left-back who eventually went on to play as a wing-back. Comfortable with both feet, Semshov is a born starter and will be looking to get as many assists for his country as he does with his club.

#4 - CB - Nikolay Dimitrov - Age 28 - Azhlesk Dynamos - 1 cap
Looking for a hulking centre-back? You’ve found Nikolay Dimitrov. At 28 years old, his time in the national team may be cut short, not only due to age, but a little niggling injury that often occurs every few months. For some reason, Dimitrov is not the player he used to be, and is likely to lose his spot. But when he’s on the field, he can play like a captain, and has an excellent tackle that always wins the ball but can sometimes trip an opponent. He does not have the grace as other centre-backs like Markus Pallessen, he’s more of a “demolition man”, as Leonardsen called him. But if he plays, forwards beware, because you’re unlikely to score when Dimitrov’s about.

#5 - CB - Sol Arke - Age 28 - SK Martinsberg - 3 caps, 1 goal - CAPTAIN
Like Dimitrov, Arke is a hulking, intimidating centre-back. But he rarely gets injured and has always got a winning mentality. Impressing for SK Martinsberg, Freidrich has persuaded Leonardsen to make Arke captain, which is a very good decision. Fearless and bold, Arke is the perfect centre-back. Always winning the ball off an opponent, Arke can then follow up with a long clearance or he can pick a perfect pass to find a team-mate. Arke impressed in the trials, as Leonardsen stated he was “the best centre-back there”, so he looks to have nailed his spot and written his name all over it. He also has an amazing header, scoring his first goal for the team in their second match with a bulllet header.

#6 - DM - Frans Laurensen - Age 32 - Dynamo Renesburg - 3 caps
Frans Laurensen is the right person for the defensive midfield slot. Only venturing into the final third when told, Laurensen’s job is to tackle the opposition before they get to the sticky end that is Sol Arke, then distribute the ball out to more attacking players. Laurensen was a candidate for the captaincy, but was overlooked. This and the next will probably be his only world cups, as Laurensen is now 32 years old. But age does not matter for the Renesburg holding midfielder. Watching him play, you’ll find him to be in the mold of the Semar holding midfielders Adren Christiansen-Hallensburg and Morten Poulsen.

#7 - LW - Lukas Karlstrom - Age 23 - SK Martinsberg - 3 caps, 1 goal
Clever and fast, Lukas Karlstrom is comfortable on the wing, or playing as an attacking midfielder. Either way, he will be bound to create a goal, or even score one himself. With incredible pace and an outstanding cross, Karlstrom is highly rated. Being chased by numerous clubs, Karlstrom is rather loyal to SK Martinsberg, being one of their core players. But he’ll happily play for anyone, as long as he starts, which is something he may not get as Leonardsen’s 4-3-1-2 does not suit him, with the “3” being too inner, and the “1” likely to be taking up by young star Jon van Axelsen or even Iiro Mihaylov. However, when he does play he will definitely be one to watch.

#8 - CM - Iiro Mihaylov - Age 24 - Red Star Slazhnov - 3 caps, 1 goal
Creative and technical, Iiro Mihaylov always performs to the best of his ability. Whether it be in the centre of the park, or in the attacking midfield slot he usually plays in, Mihaylov is a creative playmaker who is always hard to win the ball off. Famous for scoring the first goal of the trials, Mihaylov scores goals but will usually create them more. Having the highest assists rate for Red Star Slazhnov, Mihaylov, like most of the national team, is being highly looked at and chased by a number of clubs, both domestic and foreign. But nonetheless, Mihaylov will most likely be in the starting lineup and is eager and keen to impress on the big stage, as is his coaches are for him to do so too.

#9 - FW - Patrik Ael - Age 25 - Southwik Hardcastles - 2 caps
Patrik Ael is the typical target man - tall, strong and good at scoring goals. He usually scores more goals via his head than rather his foot, but either way, he is still capable at scoring from both. Usually preferred for the target man role over Kvist and Jakobsen, Ael will likely start alongside Timo Heinckel up front. Currently playing for Southwik Hardcastles, his home team, Ael is looking to stay there for quite a long time, which the club will be very very grateful for as he is a key player in the team and their main source of goals. He’ll be looking to replicate his club form for the national team, too, and with the way he is playing at the moment that wish looks guaranteed.

#10 - FW - Timo Heinckel - Age 26 - SK Kristiansberg - 3 caps, 3 goals
Every team will always have that star striker. That one who scores a goal a game, is always on target, first choice. Well, Polaaskan have Timo Heinckel. 26 years old Heinckel is expected to leave SK Kristiansberg for a bigger club, either in Polaaskan or either in a foreign country. He has gained fans from across the country, even his club’s rivals MK Aalmokjestar’s fans are praising and loving Heinckel. One of the best players in the trials, Heinckel is an amazing striker, who can score from virtually anywhere in the final third. Whether it be a simple tap in from five yards or a blazing screamer from 40 yards, you can guarantee Timo Heinckel will score.

#11 - RW - Mikke Leonardsen - Age 27 - FC Aaneshel - 3 caps
Mikke Leonardsen thoroughly impressed the coaches with his darting runs, fancy dribbles and sharp goals. In five appearances he netted three times and assisted twice. He also won two Man of the Match performances. Aside from that, Leonardsen is a right-side midfielder - comfortable on either the wing or in a more central position. He has said himself he’s more suited to a more central role, somewhere that the manager will play him in a 4-3-1-2 formation. He can also be used as a support striker or an attacking midfielder if really needed, but he’ll most likely started on the right-hand side.

#12 - GK - Aleks Johansen - Age 23 - Sudbricks - 1 cap
Usually, playing as a goalkeeper for a second-division club won’t get you a place in the national team. But for Aleks Johansen, it has. A reliable back-up keeper with a good frame, Johansen, despite having these qualities, won’t likely play at all. He was the star keeper for Beta Squad in the trials, as well as being the youngest goalkeeper there altogether. But with Petersen and Sokolov to compete with, playing time is expected to be low at the most for the Sudbricks goalkeeper.

#13 - CB - Markus Pallesen - Age 27 - North Estenlund Rovers - 1 cap
Seeing graceful centre-backs this days is fairly uncommon. Well, Markus Pallessen is graceful and composed on the ball, and an excellent passer. With these qualities, he might as well be a midfielder you’d think, but no, he’s a centre-back. He can calmly whip the ball away from the opponent, then play it expertly outfield. He would probably be starting alongside Arke at centre-back, but he carries an injury from the first friendly against Polaaskan B, so he won’t be playing for quite a few games, which is quite a blow seeing as Nikolay Dimitrov carries an injury as well. But not to fear, Pallessen will be back soon - and opponents better get ready.

#14 - AM - Jon van Axelsen - Age 17 - SK Bauhaus - 2 caps, 1 goal
Talented young prodigy was a surprise call up to the trials, let alone the squad, for some at first. But when they saw his immense talent, reminiscent of that of Semarland’s Demba Cisse and Polar Islandstates’ Alexsandr van Sorensen, they disagreed with their earlier thought. Proudly the first person ever to score a goal for the national team, with a blistering screamer against Polaaskan B, van Axelsen is not only a born goalscorer but a creator too, which makes him the perfect attacking midfielder. Already playing in the first team of Divisjon Two club SK Bauhaus, van Axelsen is very likely to move away.

#15 - RW - Johan Pekarik - Age 24 - Northbrook Volcano FK - 3 caps, 1 goal
Pacy with an amazing cross, Johan Pekarik is your perfect winger. Star player for Northbrook Volcano, Pekarik is one of the most highly thought of players in the squad. Despite making only a few trial appearance, Pekarik impressed the whole coaching team, with his lightning fast runs and perfect crossers. Pekarik can also get a cross in too. Pekarik can also play in centre-midfield only if needed, as well as that he is a capable attacking midfielder. Thanks to his brilliant play, he looks to have made the right-wing berth his own.

#16 - FW - Willem Jakobsen - Age 28 - North Estenlund Rovers - 2 caps
Willem Jakobsen is yet another target man - tall with a great header. He is a stronger player than Ael, but scores less goals than him. However, Jakobsen is strong and holds up the ball very well - something that can prove to be quite valuable for the team. But, he is fourth in the pecking order behind Heinckel, Ael and Blonqvist, but may well come on as a substitute occasionally. Other than that, Jakobsen plays for North Estenlund Rovers, one of the bigger clubs. He is one of their best strikers, and if he is in good form for them, Jakobsen could cement a regular place in the national team.

#17 - CM - Riko van Bommel - Age 29 - FC Roslenborg - 3 caps
More of a driving, attacking midfielder than a more neutral, central midfielder, Riko van Bommel is a combative, all-action, box-to-box midfielder who won’t back down for anybody. Always showing true grit and fighting spirit, van Bommel is very tough. However, his downside that he fouls the opposition quite often. Playing for FC Roslenborg, he’ll be looking to leave after an argument with the management team, which would also benefit the club as he is worth quite a lot.

#18 - FW - Heiko Blonqvist - Age 26 - Azhlesk Dynamos - 3 caps, 1 goal
It’s very, very hard to believe that a talented striker like Heiko Blonqvist is playing Polaaskan’s second division. Yes, that’s right, Blonqvist is the shining light of the side of Azhlesk Dynamos, situated in the remote Azhlesk region of Polaaskan. Blonqvist is a talented striker who will most likely be used as a “super sub”. He is capable of scoring crucial goals late in the game, but is also a very good starter too.

#19 - RB - Timo Asker - Age 26 - 1. FC Stagnov Athletic - 2 caps
Timo Asker is the more defensive right-back on the team, but of course he loves going forward. Another player, like Blonqvist, playing in DivisjonTwo, for Stagnov, Asker is one of those talented players that will likely move to the Premardivisjon or abroad. Starting of Czechny Yulinsk of the fifth tier’s academy, Asker only recently was signed by Stagnov for 2.5 million, a record in the 5th division. Nevertheless, Asker will be quick to spring into action if anything happens to van Leonardsen. Also, he is capable at playing in the centre-back role, something Ulrik Leonardsen will value very much.

#20 - LB - Soren Akselsen - Age 27 - SK Lundsholm - 1 cap
Reliable back-up Soren Akselsen shone for Alpha Squad in the trials, and when given his chance, he will hopefully replicate that form. However, with Vasili Semshov very likely to start ahead of him, Akselsen will probably be second-choice throughout the tournament. Nevertheless, he is solid back-up and like a good back-up, he will be ready to spring into action if anything happens to Semshov.

#21 - DM - Christian Hogg - Age 28 - Oslo Klub - 3 caps - [i[Vice-captain[/i]
Every team needs that gritty, no-nonsense, tough defender. That’s right, Polaaskan have got Christian Hogg. Capable of playing in defensive midfield, or at the moment centre-back, where he will likely start due to the slight injuries of Nikolay Dimitrov and Markus Pallessen going into the tournament. Regardless, he will be likely starting, being the vice-captain for the team. Hogg plays domestically at Oslo Klub, a mid-table side looking to achieve greater things. Like quite a few of the team, Hogg is linked with a move abroad. Depending on his form in the tournament, this could realistically happen.

#22 - GK - Timo Sokolov - Age 24 - Matsholm Athletic - 1 cap
Timo Sokolov is your perfect back-up. He hardly makes mistakes, and has a good mentality on and off the pitch. However, he faces second or probable third choice due to Leonardsen’s preference of Teemu Petersen and Aleks Johansen. But then again, if Leonardsen needs a reliable keeper, Sokolov’s the right man for the job.

#23 - FW - Soren Kvist - Age 25 - FC Nordstrom Aerodrome - 2 caps
The media have been saying Soren Kvist was only added into the squad as a surplus striker. He’ll be looking to prove them wrong. Not the paciest of players, the Nordstrom Aerodrome striker formed a reliable partnership with fellow target man Patrik Ael in the training games. However he faces the bitter reality of not likely starting, but can easily come off the bench and possibly score a couple of goals.

TACTICALLY SPEAKING - 4-1-2-1-2
Polaaskan will play as a 4-1-2-1-2, with Teemu Petersen in goal, Vasili Semshov at left-back, Sol Arke and Christian Hogg, (both captain and vice-captain respectively), in the centre-back roles. Jonathan van Leonardsen will start at right-back. Frans Laurensen will be the defensive midfielder, with Lukas Karlstrom on the left side and Mikke Leonardsen on the right, with Iiro Mihaylov as the attacking midfielder. Timo Heinckel and Heiko Blonqvist will likely start up front, although Leonardsen may want to substitute Blonqvist with Patrik Ael instead. Johan Pekarik and young prodigy Jon Van Axelsen will be itching to come off the bench, while Willem Jakobsen and Soren Kvist will provide reliable back-up strikers. Riko van Bommel is also capable of playing the defensive midfield role. Hogg may return to that, if Pallesen or Dimitrov return from injury and start at centre-back.

Tactically speaking, Karlstrom, Mihaylov and Leonardsen will be the creative force, striving to assist Heinckel and Blonqvist up front. Laurensen will be there to cover Arke and Hogg, with wing-backs Semshov and van Leonardsen providing extra wing support. The Polaa game is fast and explosive, and other teams in Gregory Llama Land, Leadan, Joshulia and Valnara better watch out, because the Polaaskans are coming!

Gregory Llama Land Llamachief Election Candidates

This is the first Llamachief election to feature llama candidates, making it a very important moment in Gregllamese history. There will be 12 candidates on the ballot this year, all of whom fulfilled the requirement of turning in a petition with signatures of 100 voters. Ten will be running with a party label, while two will be running as independents, something that is permitted for Llamachief but not the legislature.

Here are the candidates, ranked by order of likelihood to win.

1. Foofoo Llama is a llama running on the Llama Love Party, which seeks to continue Gregory Llama Land's mission of liberty while promoting love and reconciliation between humans and llamas. He is currently one of three front-runners to win, with the top three in a neck-and-neck race.

2. Mary Burns is running on the Liberty for All party, which seeks to expand liberty as much as possible. One of her main party platforms is reducing sentences for violent crimes and instead promoting reconciliation and rehabilitation. She seeks to eliminate the life without parole sentence altogether, even for the most violent of offenders. This has caused some controversy, especially following the grisly murders of 27 llamas by an anti-llama extremist named Bob Burgundy. Burgundy was sentenced to life without parole, but Burns says she would commute his sentence to 20 years.

3. Franky Johnson is running on the Animal Rights Party line, which had existed for about 25 years but suddenly shot up in the polls following the discovery of sapient llamas. Unfortunately, by that time it was too late to change the nominee to a llama, which would make sense, since Johnson had already submitted his petitions but had not designated a committee to nominate a replacement if he withdrew. The Animal Rights party believes certain rights, such as life and liberty, should be extended to all animals regardless of sapience, with others, such as the right to own property and vote, reserved for humans and llamas. The Animal Rights Party also believes that reparations should be paid to llamas for denying them the right to vote for many years.

4. Bojo Rodriguez is running on the Green Leaf Party line, which seeks to expand the legalization of all drugs to make them legal for minors as well as repealing laws against driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Unlike the top three front-runners, he is only polling at around 5 percent.

5. Shiny Llama is the first female llama to run for Llamachief and one of several llamas on the ballot. However, the rest are male. She is running as an independent candidate and her platform is similar to Johnson only more extreme, as she also supports mandatory veganism and a ban on all hunting. She also supports a ban on abortion.

6. Now we're starting to get into the fringe candidates who are polling at less than 1 percent. Jimmy McDomas is running on the "Rent is Too Damn High But You're Not High Enough" party line which wants to make drug use mandatory and impose a rent cap of $5 per apartment. He is a perennial candidate who is a protest vote but not much else. He is well known for his giant beard and boisterous voice.

7. Supreme Vernon is running as an independent. His sole platform plank is giving every man, woman, child and llama a free pony. He is also a perennial joke candidate.

8. Brett Thomas is running on the Shiny Teeth Party line. He wants to make toothbrushing mandatory 18 times a day as well as free toothbrushes, toothpaste, and tooth education to everyone. Having a cavity would be punishable by a fine of 15,000 lamadolas, to be paid to the tooth education fund.

9. Chris Todd is running on the Anarchy Party line. If elected, he would immediately abolish the government. Never mind that he doesn't have the authority to do that. He would anyway. Also never mind why he wants to join the government if he's an anarchist.

10. Now we're beyond fringe and into nuttery. George Tuner is running on the Human Rights line. He wants to end llama rights and declare all rights are for humans only. He would also pardon Bob Burgundy and give him the Medal of Honor.

11. Whitey White is running on the White Pride party line. He would go a step further than Tuner and declare rights are for white, Christian, heterosexual humans only and everyone else should be deported or killed. He is a perennial candidate, and the llama sapience emergence just fueled him even more. But he's never gotten more than 34 votes.

12. Alexi Jones is running on the Expose The NWO Party line. He is also a perennial candidate but has never polled more than 44 votes. He believes that everything that goes wrong is the work of an international conspiracy known as the New World Order and that every attack on civilians ever is a false flag really by the NWO. He believes Bob Burgundy was a "patsy" set up by the NWO to promote their agenda of llama rights, while claiming llama sapience is a farce and the llamas have been brainwashed by the NWO to believe they are sapient. It is unclear how exactly one would brainwash a non-sapient being, but it makes sense to Jones. He even claimed multiple natural disasters are the result of the New World Order's "weather control" devices. Oddly enough, he is a strong supporter of Gregoryisgodistan, claiming they are the only country with the guts to stand up to the New World Order and claiming that is why they are universally reviled. He also claims that Gregoryisgodistan is not guilty of any human rights violations and that the NWO is making those up to incite hatred against Gregoryisgodistan. Furthermore, Jones claims that every foreigner killed by Gregoryisgodistan was an agent of the NWO. Strangely, he does not believe the NWO was responsible for the assassinations of King Paulus, Prince Josephus, and Consul Piazza, instead believing those three were members of the NWO who Gregoryisgodistan killed. He also subscribes to the theory that the King Paulus killed at the World Bowl was an impostor killed in a false flag to cover up the real King Paulus' role in the New World Order and his death at the hands of the heroic Gregoryisgodistan. He is likely mentally ill, and although he claims to be for liberty, pretty much all Gregllamese think he's a nut. He does have a following in other countries and even has a webstreamed radio show where he talks about this conspiracy, but nobody in Gregory Llama Land takes him seriously. Oddly enough, his show is banned in Gregoryisgodistan in spite of the praise he routinely gives to the nation, likely because he says some stuff so extreme even Gregoryisgodistanis don't believe it. However, he is a perfect example of where the far right loops around to meet the far left, and an example often used in Gregllamese political science classes to demonstrate the problems with the traditional left-right political spectrum.

Roster

Coach: Christopher Tajo Mendez

Vice-Coach: Vince Young

Goalkeepers:

1- Bradley Kozak Cooper [Team: Mariner F.C]
Height: 6’1 - Weight: 196 lbs - Age: 29 years old - Starter
Cooper was born into a world of soccer as his parents were both players in the National League, Cooper’s father sent him to the prestigious Dock City Soccer Academy at the age of five. Cooper played as a Defender till the age of 15, As a last minute decision his coach made him take the spot of Goalkeeper after the goalkeeper was injured. In the remaining twenty minutes of the game Cooper had over eight saves and his team went on to win the game 3-2 and become his teams new starting goalkeeper. Recruiting agents from the National League watching the game noted Coopers ability as an effective goalkeeper and continued to watch his performances throughout that season. Before Cooper could start yet another season at his academy he was recruited and signed by Riverton F.C a team in the National League. Cooper played for Riverton for nine years and in the middle at age 18 started playing for the United States of Devonta national men’s soccer team as a substitute goalkeeper against in the region of North Valheaven and North America Paradise. At the age of 23 he became the starting goalkeeper and helped make his nations team the #1 ranked team in his region. In a surprising decision Riverton F.C traded him for three players from Mariner F.C where he plays today.

Cooper is known for his ultra fast hand-eye coordination, which allows him to move quickly and almost mystically in the goalie box. The ever observant Cooper is good at keeping track of the ball and can easily perform perfect passes and goalie kicks. Known also to play through pain and refuse to give up or let himself done. He is known to be very caring towards children and is a strong supporter of welfare programs.

7- Brandon Lee Kowalski [Carter Villa F.C]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 170 lbs - Age: 23 - Substitute
Kowalski started playing soccer at an early age at his local recreational centers team. During his highschool years he played on the national stage in the youth soccer league while playing for his high school as the topped ranked varsity goalkeeper in the country. When he graduated at the age of 17 he was instantly recruited by the Carter Villa F.C as a substitute goalkeeper. He has proudly stayed with the team through its worst and last season became the team's starting goalkeeper replacing Tim Snyder. Finally he was chosen to play for the national team the same year. He still waits for a chance to prove himself on the international level.

Kowalski is known for being a very quick and observant goalie and very timid, Usually sticking to the box instead of attacking. He is also known for being very flexible. Kowalski is very loyal to his teams and it can get him in fights against rival teams.

11- Nicolas El Nunez [Santa Julia Rockets]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 152 lbs - Age: 25 - Substitute
Nunez played in local leagues around Santa Julia most of his child life before making it on the Washington Heights High school’s varsity soccer team as a freshman. He played well but also had his bad games. He managed to make it in his cities minor national league team and played well there for most of his soccer career. Finally at the age of 25 after two good seasons he was offered a two year contract by Bull F.C but he rejected it saying he likes the minor leagues friendly environment better and nothing could change that. Nunez did go to the national training camp and managed to do the unthinkable and beat out many of the major league goalkeepers causing a massive upset.

Nunez is known for being cocky which makes him a very aggressive goal keeper sometimes even running at attacking strikers to get the ball, This sometimes backfires on him and they get past him, Although he catches many by surprise.

Left Defenders [Left Fullbacks/Wingers]:

2- Johnson Alexander Brooks [Strickland F.C]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 155 lbs - Age: 32 - Starter
Brooks did not always play soccer but instead played basketball as a point guard which he soon figured out had the same concept as a left winger which he started playing when he tried soccer in 8th grade, After realizing his love for the game he joined a national soccer training program and rapidly gained the skills needed to be a top player in the sport. He played one year for his high school then graduated. After high school he went to college at Desmound State where only in his first season he was recruited by Carter Villa F.C and played seven long years with the team scoring 20 goals as a left winger. As he wanted more opportunity, He played in the nation of Neo-Liberalis for five years on two different teams before returning and being signed with Strickland F.C where he has played his last two seasons at. It was no surprise to soccer critics when the #1 defender in the country was picked for the national team, Making him the oldest member of the team too.

Brooks is known for being quick and waiting for the right moments to strike out at an unsuspecting player and being able to drive the ball up and make quick precise passes or relatively accurate long shots towards the opposing teams goal. Its known by all players in his league that he never brags or acts like a sore loser and always has an upbeat attitude.

3- Jose Manzano Alvarez [Astro F.C]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 164 lbs - Age: 23 - Substitute
Alvarez played soccer in the Youth Soccer League in Santa Julia, New Julia before he started playing for his high school for four years, Although he was considered good and one of the best players in New Julia he was not recruited, But given a scholarship to New Julia University where he played all four of his college years and won one best player award and two best defender awards. After graduation he was finally recruited by a major league team which was his hometowns Astro F.C. Soon after his recruitment into the football club he was invited to the national teams training camp. Alvarez successfully finished camp and was selected to play for the national team.

Alvarez seems to know when to attack another player for the ball or play more cautiously, Making it hard for players to get past him. Despite being able to steal and retrieve the ball he sometimes manages to lose the ball in sloppy fast paced dribbles and does not have the best long passes, Although his speed makes up the distance usually. Alvarez his an active community organizer and donates to charities often.

Center Defenders [Center Backs/Sweepers]:

5- Martin Paul Benton [Middleton F.C]
Height: 6’1 - Weight: 188 lbs - Age: 20 - Starter
A product of Blue River Valley High Schools soccer program Benton arises from high school soccer a three time MVP and many best player awards including many man of the matches. He was instantly drafted as a first round pick by Middleton F.C. During his first season Benton showed his worth as a fast and ultra observant sweeper for his team making many goals that could've been no more by knocking them out of the penalty box. In his second season his team made it to the finals. Benton played admirably till the last ten minutes when he made the mistake of passing the ball to player on the other team, Resulting in a 1-0 loss. Benton was driven to make it in the mens national team by his haunting mistake, That he did and as the second youngest player on the team.

Benton many strengths is is quick agility and his ability to focus on multiple points of the penalty box at one time, It is also not uncommon to see him quickly slide tackle without fouling. Critics have noticed he has gotten more aggressive on the field since his mistake and only passes short precise passes. If there is one thing everyone knows, It is he wants to redeem himself.

6- Daniel Kay Kindred [Nordland F.C]
Height: 6’4 - Weight: 223 lbs - Age: 26 - Starter
Kindred started playing soccer in the 6th grade for his middle school. By high school he made his varsity team his freshman year and in his Junior year was recruited by his state's only professional team Nordland F.C. at the age of seventeen. He was taller than most of the players on his team and known to be intimidating when you meet him. His taller stature also made him a natural born center back. He made himself known in the professional league as a tall player and can beat most in a jumping battle. After five years in Nordland F.C. he was loaned off for three years to a professional team in the nation of Seggenea. After a successful time in Seggenea and a best defender reward in that country, He was given back to Nordland F.C. and played two more seasons and scoring an unprecedented goal from midfield aided by the wind in his returning seasons quarter-finals. Kindred as a natural defender easily made it into the national teams trading camp and was quickly selected.

Kindred's large size makes him an excellent jumper and he his not afraid to throw his weight around or slide tackle with his large feet, Although he can get to aggressive and fouls are a worry when he plays. His mighty long legs make his work as a centre back easy. Attacking he is more clumsy so he chooses to stay on his half of the field unless instructed otherwise.

8- Micco Chi Takishima [Harding F.C]
Height: 5’8 - Weight: 140 lbs - Age: 23 - Substitute
Takishima went to Braden Soccer Academy for most of his youth soccer career, Till his last two years of high school when he was transferred to Wesley Soccer Academy. His performance his last two years got him in a local minor league team for three years, By the time agents came to observe his minor league team he was the best defender on his team and was signed to Harding F.C. and played two average seasons. In the middle of this he joined the national guard and played for his bases soccer team. The experience in the army was different than in the major league although he quickly adapted. Takishima found it hard to get selected for the national team but was ultimately accepted.

Takishima short size make him quick and agile and he is usually on the attack, This has its setbacks sense he sometimes strayed too far from his position as center back and goes to the mid field. He also suffers from anger problems which he tries to control.

Right Defenders [Right Fullback/Winger]:

7- Brayden Liam Jr. [Ceceila United F.C]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 174 lbs - Age: 25 - Starter
Liam started playing soccer at the age of 10, Since then he fell in love. Playing for his high school he received every best player reward from his school for the four years he was there. After high school he played soccer at Ceceila State University for three years before being signed by Danza F.C a professional football club in his junior year. Liam played well for Danza but a rocky third year prompted Danza to trade him to Ceceila United F.C. Coming back from a bad season playing for a different team Liam contributed in his teams championship victory the first year he was on there team. Liam to the offer to go train and try out at the national teams training camp and was a quite easy pick to join the team.

Liam prefers a slow paced controlled dribble and is not as fast as the other players on his team, Although he is the best a dribbling and noted for his crossing capabilities. His slow dribble can be a problem as many players take opportunities to steal the ball, Although his slow pace usually can draw fouls from this. As a Winger his control allows for great passes and shots that are usually on goal.

9- Eric James Martin [Real Langston F.C]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 167 lbs - Age: 21 - Substitute
Martin was not introduced to soccer till he decided to try out for his high schools soccer team at a freshman and made junior varsity. The next year he was pushed up to the varsity team and in the next three years. In his senior year his high school won the state championship partly because of him. Martin then went to college at Langston University where he played soccer for two years having an okay first season and a good second season, His performance in the second season of his college career earned him a chance to play for Real Langston F.C which he proudly took and signed with the team for two years. Martin had an exciting but still disappointing first year. He had his good and bad moments and critics were a shocked by his poor performance. Looking for another opportunity to shine Martin found himself at the national teams training camp and was selected for the roster.

Martin is a quick Right Fullback and he is not afraid to challenge an opponent for the ball, Although this can backfire if his opponent is good at crossing but his speed makes up for any lost ground. Martin is known for only being able to play on the right side of the field and normally played poorly in the center and left side of the field.

Defensive Midfielder:

4- Isaiah Brandon Russell [Danza F.C]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 177 lbs - Age: 27 - Starter
Russell’s father was a soccer coach for a local youth soccer program which Russell was made to play on. Russell’s father was very hard on Russell and was pressured often to do better, By the time he was in high school he had already been selected to play for a local minor league team. Russell played four years with the team and also played for his high school's varsity team. After graduating high school he was offered a four year contract to play for Danza F.C, Which he proudly accepted. Playing for Danza he seen the team make it to the semi-finals twice in a row. In a three year loan Danza traded him to Nordland F.C. At Nordland he shined with the rest of its strong defense although he played on the midfield. After three years at Nordland F.C. he was then resigned to Danza F.C. and signed another four year contract similar to his first. Two years into his contract he has seen many successes although his team has seen better days. Russell easily made it on to the national team.

Russell is not a good all around player and plays best as a defensive midfielder, He is quick and knows how to mark men and pass well, He seems to work best in tight situations and does not disappoint. He has admitted that he needs to work on his crossing and needs to improve his average level dribble.

10- Marco Hernandez Jr. [Ceceila United F.C]
Height: 5’8 - Weight: 145 lbs - Age: 21 - Substitute
Hernandez begun his soccer career playing for a local youth league team, He left the team during his first year of high school to play for a minor league team. He played up and down seasons for six years, Four of those years he played on his high schools varsity team to. His six season at the age of 20 was his most successful and his team won the minor league championships. Hernandez was signed by Ceceila United F.C and listed in there reserves. During his first season in the reserves he played two games and did well in both. He is suspected to be a starter for the team next season. Hernandez surprisingly was selected to play for the national team after a excellent show at the national training camp.

Hernandez is known for his nice crosses and his ability to slide tackle well, He is not the fastest player but not the slowest either. He struggles with finding and then passing to a man, Whether he kicks it out or down the field if pressured too much.

Left Midfielders:

12- Mohamed Zari Abdullah [Mandiana F.C]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 175 lbs - Age: 27 - Starter
Son of two muslim immigrants from a war torn middle eastern nation, Abdullah was born in the United States of Devonta. His father had only brought the clothes on his back and a soccer ball which he passed on to young Abdullah. Abdullah was invited to play for Maxwell Soccer Academy and accepted the invitation. Playing for the academy for most of his child and teenage life, Leading his team to win four championships and winning various awards. At the age of 17 he was drafted as a first round pick to play for Strickland F.C. for four years. He played for four years at the football club for his four years and got his team to the semi-finals twice. After his four years expired he went north to the nation of Rygristan and played for two years, Winning a championship there and a best player award both years he was there. When he returned instead of joining his old team he signed a five year contract with the struggling Mandiana F.C. Four years in his five year contract Abdullah has played very well for the once struggling football club. He has one championship with the team and has been to the semi-finals with the club. Rumors say he plans on staying with the team and resigning when his current contract ends, Although no one can guess what the #1 midfielder will do next.

Abdullah has described himself as a devout Muslim and prays on the side of the field every game. He is known for his versatility on all sections of the field, Defense or Offense, Left or right he can play. Dribbling, passing, crossing, and striking are his main perks. The only thing that brings him down is he can sometimes become a ball hog.

13- Tony Lamont Phillips [Real Langston F.C]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 154 lbs - Age: 23 - Substitute
Phillips played soccer for a youth league team most of his childhood till the age of 17, When he was selected to play for a minor league team. After just one year with the minor league team and a bad season he terminated his contract and started attending Franks University where had two perfect seasons and brought his team to the semi-finals his second year. After his second year he was drafted as a second round pick by Real Langston F.C. and signed a two year contract. Both seasons where good for Phillips and critics noticed he evolved a lot from when he played at a university level. Real Langston made it to the quarterfinals twice but have not made it any further. Phillips herd of the opportunity to try out for the national team and he took it. After much hard work he managed to make the team.

Phillips is known for his ability to mark men and steal the ball with quick reflexes. He knows how to get around people and make long passes, Although he tends only to be good playing in a defensive rule and performance varies when he is attacking. Phillips can get very frustrated at players and officials but usually manages to control it.

15- Anthony Don Crox [Devonta City Capitals]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 161 lbs - Age: 21 - Substitute
Crox did not start playing soccer till he was sixteen years old, Playing for his local high school team and managing to bring them to two city wide championships both years, But his team lost on the state level. By the time he graduated he received a scholarship to play for Kanza University and he took it over three other scholarships. He played for Kanza University for two seasons and helped them win one championship. After two years he was offered a large contract lasting two years with the Devonta City Capitals, A minor league team. In his first season he played well and his the Capitals made it to the finals but were defeated 1-0. Crox was one of the few minor league players invited to the national teams training camp and in an impressive feat was selected to play for the national team.

Crox is better suited for defense then he is on the offense, That is one reason he plays as a defensive midfielder. Known in the minor leagues for being able to mark men and pass, Although he is also known for being too aggressive and bad crossing. Crox as shown he can learn more from his more professional teammates and is very promising.

Right Midfielders:

14- DeMonte Creole Edwards [Harding F.C]
Height: 6’0 - Weight: 179 lbs - Age: 26 - Starter
Edwards started playing soccer as a little boy playing local neighborhood kids in his backyard. At age ten he was admitted into the youth league and they soon recognized his potential on the national level. His youth team won two championships and made it to the semi-finals three times, Partly do to Edwards efforts on the team. When he started high school he started to play for his high school team. His high school team went on to win the national championship and his youth team made it to the quarter finals. A year after playing soccer for his high school he left his youth team and joined a minor league team. The next three years he saw his high school team go to three quarter finals and his minor league team make it to the quarter finals twice and semi-finals once, Many critics were not surprised when he was signed to a four year contract with Harding F.C. after he finished his time on his minor league team and graduated high school. The four years playing for Harding F.C. brought four disappointing seasons although Edwards played well and managed to bring his team to the semi-finals his second year. Edwards was loaned out to a team in Seggenea for four years, Managing to led his team there to two trips to the championships losing both. Edwards took the chance to attend the national teams training camp and after beating out some hard competition he was selected to be on the national team and resigned with Harding F.C. hoping for better results.

Edwards is a solid midfielder and is known for his abilities to dribble and control the ball, His shooting abilities from long range and up close are also on par with some of the best, This ability to shoot allows him to be an effective passer also. Edwards struggles to sometimes stay in his spot and sometimes breaks formation.

16- Julius Xander Washington [Mandiana F.C.]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 171 lbs - Age: 21 - Substitute
Washington begun playing soccer at a young age for local youth leagues around it hometown. When he attended high school he chose to continue to play for local youth teams instead of his high school. When he graduated after limited success in the youth league other than a few awards, He attended George Town State University and played two surprisingly well seasons for his team, Breaking his universities record for assists and sending them to the semi-finals his last year. Before signing a two year contract with Mandiana F.C., An emerging professional soccer club. In his first year as a substitute he played well and helped the team to the semi-finals. Washington was invited to tryout at the national teams training camp and he soon accepted the invitation, After hard work and a determined effort Washington was selected for the national team.

Washington is a moderately fast midfielder who is very versatile, Although he plays better on the offense. His abilities to control the ball and keep it are widely noted. He struggles with finding openings to pass but shows he is willing to learn from more senior players on his team.

20- Alexander Graham Jones [Mariner F.C.]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 154 lbs - Age: 21 - Substitute
Alexander played soccer for his local youth soccer league before he joined his high schools varsity soccer team leading them to a city wide championship twice in his four years of playing for his high school, After high school he managed to get signed onto a minor league where he played two great seasons but with limited success. Recruiting agents for major league soccer watching one of his games decided to work out a contract with Jones. Jones signed a two year contract with Mariner F.C., In just one season he helped his team to the quarter-finals and became a noted player. Jones received an invite to the national teams training camp for tryouts and proudly accepted it, After a superb effort he managed to make the national team.

Jones is a good passer and knows how to keep tempo with the game. He plays better on the right side of the field and lacks crossing capabilities.

Offensive Midfielders:

17- Tyrell LaMarcus Owens Jr. [Riverton F.C.]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 171 lbs - Age: 22 - Starter
Owens was the son of a minor league soccer player and was raised into a life of soccer. As a kid his dad made him spend countless hours practicing in his backyard. He soon joined his high schools varsity team and dominated on the statewide level. After high school was offered a chance to play for a minor league team or attend a university and play on a college level. Owens chose to play for Three Forks University and led his team to a semi-final and a championship. After two years playing for his college team he was drafted by Riverton F.C. and signed a four year contract. Since joining the professional football club he has helped his team to the semi-finals and the quarter-finals. After a good season he was invited to attend the tryouts taking place at the nationals teams training camp which he accepted. Owens passed through tryouts relatively easily.

Owens is known for his short burst of fast energy which allows him to get around other players. This also makes him good at crossing, shooting, and passing. He lacks from a defensive standpoint.

18- Salomon Van Bundy [Danza F.C]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 162 lbs - Age: 23 - Substitute
Bundy played soccer in his early childhood but quit soccer to play basketball. By the time he reached high school he decided to give soccer another try and joined his high schools varsity soccer team. Through the next four years of high school he made himself known with in his city and with in his state, Many critics were surprised when he was not offered any contracts by a professional league team. He settled for a scholarship to play soccer at Humphrey University where he played with some success his next four years, Helping his team to three quarter-finals and a semi-final. Finally after long negotiations with Danza F.C. he was admitted into the professional league for a two year contract. He helped Danza F.C. to the quarter-finals his first year. Bundy took a shot at tryouts for the national team and was selected after a hard decision.

Bundy is known for being able to play in fast paced type games and can mark players and pass well, This also reflects on his shooting capabilities. He lacks when it comes to defense and ball control.

Forwards:

19- Gerald Van Johansen [Harding F.C.]
Height: 6’0 - Weight: 173 lbs - Age: 22 - Starter
Johansen’s father was a professional soccer player and loved soccer almost as much as his family it seems like. From his first steps in school he attended Gulf Coast Soccer Academy competing against youth league teams and other academies across the nation. He made himself known across the nation and lead his team to many high profile matches and lead his university to four championships. At the age of seventeen he graduated the academy early after signing with Harding F.C. a professional league team, The contract lasted four years. During his first game he wowed the United States of Devonta with his performance in his first match, He continued to impress to the point it was no longer surprising. It was not soon after his second year he became the #1 ranked forward in the league. Though he played well his team struggled as a whole till a better line up was made and the team made it to two championships, but lost both. He resigned with Harding F.C. for three years and passed easily through tryouts for the national team.

Johansen is known for his fast attacking capabilities, He has noted skills in crossing, ball handling, shooting, and works best in crowded environments it seems. Johansen as great focus and is also a capable all around versatile player his only problem is he tends to not like to pass the ball.

21- Lamar Samuel Adams [Danza F.C.]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 157 lbs - Age: 17 - Starter
Adams attended the Dock City Soccer Academy most of his child life, He quickly made himself known and became noted around the United States of Devonta, Helping his college expand their soccer dynasty. By the age of 17 he was already in talks with the professional league, He signed with Danza F.C. for two years in a deal that was reported around the nation. Adams became the youngest player in the league when he signed his contract. His first year at Danza F.C. went well but his team only made it to the quarter-finals. Adams was invited to the national teams training camp and proudly accepted, It was no surprise when he was chose as a starting forward, Making him the youngest player on the national team.

Adams is a quick versatile Forward, Using his speed to make good crosses and get through defenders, His dribbling and control are also noted. Shooting seems almost basic to him. Adams has also shown is worth defending using his speed. Adams sometimes gets too frustrated or has problems with bragging about his goals.

22- Michael Jay Geithner [Astro F.C.]
Height: 6’0 - Weight: 183 lbs - Age: 23 - Substitute
Geithner played soccer all through his childhood for local youth leagues around his city. He failed to make it on his high schools team during his freshman year and it drove him to try hard his next year. The next year he made the varsity team and brought his team to two city wide championships, After receiving an offer to play for a foreign professional team for four years in the nation of Neo-Liberalis he accepted because a lack of offers in the United States of Devonta. During his time in Neo-Liberalis Geithner seen his team they’re go to two semi-finals, After his contract was over Astro F.C. asked him for a two year contract and he accepted. His first year seen Astro F.C. make it to the quarter-finals. After receiving an invitation to the national teams training camp he accepted and barely made the national team.

Geithner is a slower paced forward and uses his ability to control the ball and dribble as his advantages, He tends to not work well in very fast paced games and is not good a defense. Geithner is good at getting players to foul him too.

23- Noah Lamont Hill [Strickland F.C.]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 173 lbs - Age: 26 - Substitute
Hill played soccer most of his childhood in different youth soccer leagues across the his hometown. He had good and bad seasons but managed to get his team to two quarter-finals. By the age of eighteen Hill was offered a chance to play for a professional team in the nation of Rygristan for four years and he accepted. In his four years in Rygristan he brought his team to a championship and semi-finals. Recruiting agents noticed his success and he was signed onto Strickland F.C. for a large five year contract. In his four years there Strickland F.C. has made it to the quarter-finals twice and semi-finals twice. Hill received an invitation to tryout at the national teams training camp, Which he accepted. After a close selection he was chosen to play on the national team.

Hill is known for his ability to mark men and pass, He also is known for his headers. He lacks when it comes to crossing and ball control.

Gylian national football team

The national football team of the Republic of Gylias has historically had a rather limited international sports presence due to its gender-neutral roster, as the team absolutely insists that it will either be allowed to play as is or it will not participate in an event at all, which has led to it boycotting several international tournaments. Its experience consists mainly of frequently scoreless friendly matches, though it has participated in the Cornellian Cup since independence, winning in 2000 and coming second in 2014.

Gylians are known for culturally regarding sport as an opportunity for enjoyment above all else, and refusing to acknowledge the competitive aspects. The national football team is no different, as its players are drawn from local football teams which never play in tournaments, but instead only play friendly matches, completely ignoring winning, losing and even scores in order to focus on having fun. Gylian players are known for a near-perfect record of good sportsmanship, having only rarely received yellow cards due to accidents, and for frequently interacting and engaging in friendly conversation with their teammates and the other team's players on the pitch while playing.

The standard Gylian playing style is mainly inspired by the total football practiced by the Dutch national team in the 1970s and the tactical innovations of the Hungarian national football team in the 1950s. As such, the Gylian national football team has no fixed formation, and instead uses a fluid lineup whereby every player on the field except for the goalkeeper freely switches between multiple roles and positions, emphasising flexibility and cooperation over specialisation.

The team's shirts are white with a golden line running through the middle, regardless of whether they are the home or away team. If it would be necessary, they request that the Gylian national anthem not be played before a match in order to avoid depressing the audience.

Baptism of Fire 57
Tumbran National Football Team

Team Information

Nation: The Royal Federal Republic of Tumbra

Government: Constitutional Monarchy with Parliament

Region: Esportiva

Official Nickname: Blue Lions

Colours: Royal Blue, Gold, Red, White, Black

Stadium: Wembley National Stadium, capacity 92000

Location: Goldlion City, Tumbra

Team: 23 players will be sent, all of which are humans. The team prefers short passing, attacking football as well as having a heavy bias toward speed, first touches and set pieces.

Formation: 4-2-3-1 wide

Style Modifier: +3

The Roster

Starters:

GK Ryan Hughes (25 years old, Cumberland Jacks FC)
The custodian of the Tumbran goalpoasts for the last two years has been Ryan Hughes. Extremely acrobatic and able to launch himself anywhere at high speeds. However, he is not so good at stopping set pieces, with the majority of his 22 goals conceded during his international career being so. If any game goes to penalty shootouts, he will be substituted immediately for Larry Peterson, the second choice goalkeeper.

LB Louis Paterson (23 years old, Fayborough Defenders)
Paterson was originally second choice left-back to Tumbran legend Mickey Layton, but ever since Layton retired from international football in 2012, Paterson has been starting left-back. He usually plays at left wing-back for his club, which plays five at the back, so does have some experience in crossing. His clearances are not so well, however, something Layton always did well.

CB Brandon Brooks (26 years old, Port Humoor Seagulls)
Brooks has had a long international career; he has represented every single level of Tumbran football, from Schoolboys level to the captaincy of the Under-21 side. His club career has been a bit controversial, most recently in 2011, while at the Goldlion Titans, he complained to the press about being left out of the team. He can play as a defensive midfielder in times of need.

CB Steve Nelson (24 years old, Vizhune Vipers)
Nelson's career originally started between the sticks, but was convinced to switch to being a sweeper after a few unsuccessful years in the lower divisions of the Football League. Once he became a sweeper, his impressive tackling ability, strength and jumping earned him a lot of praise in League One, and completed his transfer to the Vipers in 2012. He is, however, the slowest player in the team.

RB Edward Williams (29 years old, Goldlion Titans)
One of the five Goldlion Titans players within the squad, Williams has been in the team since he's been 22 and has been a solid right-back ever since. His stamina makes it possible for him to last two full hours without rest, and his pace enables him to catch up to the quickest of attackers. However, a weakness of his is that of standing too far back, he keeps a lot of attackers onside, therefore making some offside protests invalid.

CDM Henry Butler (21 years old, Randia Stars (Downtown Metros on pre-contract))
Butler has often been touted as the successor to Joseph Edmund, who retired from football last season at the age of 34. His performances for his club have merited him a spot with the Tumbran National Team, and a pre-contract with the Downtown Metros. However, he does have a tendency to foul others quite easily.

CDM Chris Howard (29 years old, Dyce Whalers)
Despite the Dyce Whalers being extremely successful domestically recently, Howard was the only player from their club to make it into the team. The reason? The Whalers have a large proportion of their players being foreign, with Howard being the only player from that club to be Tumbran and be good enough to make it into the team. A staple of the team, he has been capped forty-seven times. He is a very athletic player.

LM Patrick Sanders (28 years old, Goldlion Titans, Vice-Captain)
Sanders is an extremely versatile left midfielder that can play in the center, on the left, and even as a striker. However, his preferred position is left winger. Having been in the team since 2006, the once inexperienced left midfielder who scored an own goal during his first appearance has now become another staple of the team.

CAM Robert Alexander (25 years old, Goldlion Titans)
Alexander's starting spot may be in contention (see Peter Jones below), but the talented midfielder has something that Peter doesn't: experience. Having represented the national team for five years now, the advanced playmaker has seen to drop back sometimes and act as a centre midfielder or even a third defensive midfielder

RM Albert Foster (23 years old, Verthollow Turthes)
The team, formerly devoid of a true right midfielder, (instead pushing Alexander out onto the right wing, somewhere where he was not comfortable), have finally found one in the shape of Foster. Foster is the speediest player within the team, and when he sprints, practically no-one can catch up to him.
For the cup, though, he has been told to slow down, so his team-mates can catch up when he crosses into the box.

ST Henry Pandon (26 years old, Goldlion Titans, Captain)
Tumbra has never experienced a striker as good as Henry Pandon for the last two decades. Already on his way to breaking manager Jordan Fletcher's record of goals for the international team, Pandon will be hoping to keep up his recent run of performances that saw him finish as top scorer in the domestic season, netting 33 goals in 38 games.

Subs and Reserves

Goalkeepers

GK Larry Peterson (32 years old, Elon Dragons)
Peterson has always been used to being second fiddle as goalkeeper, being so since 2005. He never complains though, happy enough to be selected for the national team. He is what Ryan Hughes isn't: a master set piece stopper, and penalty-saving maestro. Of all the penalties he had to face throughout his club and international career, he nearly always manages to save them. Some say he's psychic, but he has rebuffed all these myths in a press conference.

GK Raymond Perry (23 years old, Independent City Cardinals)
Raymond, or Ray as he's called by his fellow team-mates, was really only called up to fill in the numbers, but he'll grab any opportunity there is to play football for the team. He's not as good as Hughes or Peterson in their individual qualities, but can be called a mixture of both.

Defenders

RB Scott Moore (23 years old, Beachlyn Seals (Cumberland Jacks on pre-contract))
People often think that after your club has been relegated to the Football League Championship, all your hopes of getting picked for the national team are over. Not for Moore. An extremely promising prospect that has risen through the ranks, he is seen as a potential replacement for Ed Williams when he retires. Fast, agile and with extremely good ball control, Moore is a force to be reckoned with.

CB Will Collins (27 years old, Cumberland Jacks)
Collins was once a talented youngster before his career took a turn for the worse, getting involved with women and the like. However, he has been given a second chance to save his footballing career with the national team. His versatility, able to play in all three defending positions as well as the defensive midfielder role, makes him a near-perfect defensive third player.

LB Alex Tucker (23 years old, Elon Dragons)
Little Alex Tucker, so called for his dimunitive height, is a masterful full-back that has proved his presence on the domestic and international scene, being the first defender in five years to score two goals in one game, for the Dragons. He occasionally runs upfield to shoot, oft resulting in the left centerback having to cover for Tucker.

Midfielders

CDM Harold Thornton (25 years old, Angelsea Armada)
Thornton, while not first choice defensive midfielder, is still a solid, box-to-box midfielder that turns out consistently for club and country. His longballs are deadly and accurate, and normally requires a very fast striker to catch up. Cue Henry Pandon and his speed to catch up with the aforementioned longballs...

CM Don Roberts (19 years old, Downtown Metros)
Don is here to fill in the numbers and hopefully pick up some experience of international football, as he is seen as the future of Tumbra's midfield. At first glance, he is a very average midfielder, but looking closer can expose some of his good points. Skills, passing and heading are just a few.

LM George Bryant (27 years old, Anglesea Armada)
Bryant was lucky to be fit to be picked for the team, as the stellar left mid's career has been dogged by injuries, the latest being a broken ankle all the way back in February, which effectively put an end to his season. Jordan Fletcher has seen fit to pick him for the team, however. Bryant's strengths are tackling and crossing, but often fouls others easily.

RM Jeremy Turner (25 years old, Verthollow Turtles)
Turner has had a rather uneventful career, as ever since sixteen he's been at the same club, the Verthollow Turtles. Patient and tenacious, his wide midfielder position suits him perfectly as he delivers crosses into the box with terrifying accuracy. Critics call him "lazy" but fans prefer to call him "technical".

CAM Jason Simmons (22 years old, Elon Dragons)
Simmons has had a very controversial career-dogged by allegations of diving to gain an unfair advantage. However, when he plays well, he plays extremely well for a 22-year old, displaying the technical mind of a veteran, able to play almost anywhere on the pitch. Athlectism isn't his strong suit, however, and these are his reasons for him being fouled.

Strikers

CF Peter Jones (20 years old, Goldlion Titans)
Peter Jones, who scored nine goals in four Di Bradini Cup 32 games, has certainly made headlines all around the world, especially within Ahbanfleft, which expressed interest in signing him. However, the deal fell through and Jones is entering his first season with the Titans, after his old club, the Karanoogan Jet-Setters, fell apart. He can play as a true number 9, a false 9 and even as supporting striker.

ST Steven Miller (26 years old, Randia Stars)
Miller has has a very consistent career-in fact, he has been named in almost every domestic season's Most Consisent Team. However, his consistency with the national team has yet to be tested. For a striker, he is unusally adept at tackling, and volleys; however penalties are not his strong suit.

The Manager

Jordan Fletcher (53 years of age)
Fletcher has had an illustrious playing career as his manager career, though he would be quick to refute that claim. The 53 year old has previously managed teams like the Goldlion Titans and the Port Humoor Seagulls over a twenty year managing career and is certainly a capable choice to lead the team into this World Cup cycle. Some of his choices have been criticised; not including either Edward Whittaker or Phil Baker from the Under 21 Squad that took Tumbra into the group stages has been met with controversy; yet he has firmly stood by his choices.

FLEFTIC ROSTER FOR BAPTISM OF FIRE RELEASED: ANOTHER MIXED SIDE?
By Fred Huddersfield

RIUWIEE - The Fleftic Commission of Sports and Games has announced that it has submitted the 23-man lineup that will be representing the Democratic Republic in the 57th edition of the Baptism of Fire, a prerequisite tournament for countries entering the NS World Cup for the first time. Kasper Molak, whom the FCSG announced will be helming the national team this tournament cycle, recently unveiled the roster to the media, and revealed that once again, the country will be fielding a team composed of both male and female players. This setup is similar to the team that the Democratic Republic sent to the 32nd Di Bradini Cup, where Abanhfleft made a historic run into the quarterfinals before eventually bowing to the young girls of Mizuyuki. Let's take a look at the men and women who have been given the privilege of representing the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft in the international football scene for the first (nope, second, actually) time.

#1 - JAMES TARRAGONA - GOALKEEPER
(32 years old, Arsenal de Releinthi, male)
Well, Jimmy's been guarding that space between the posts for club and country for almost ten years now, and he's still showing no signs of slowing down. James is a product of the Wanda Islands Wanderers goalkeeping youth program, and he managed to make it as a reserve keeper for the Wanderers for one year before Arsenal de Releinthi snapped him up in 2003 for just £500,000. Tarragona spent two seasons as a substitute keeper, before finally gaining the starting spot in 2005 following the retirement of Markus Martinowicz from association football. His first international appearance was a friendly against New Caledonia, which Abanhfleft lost 2-0. His first international clean sheet was a 0-0 draw against Tahiti. Since then, he has kept 41 clean sheets in his 71 caps. But, let's admit it, he's not as young as he used to be. And while he can still dive and block like the best, you can definitely see signs of his age when he makes those kinds of saves. Luckily (for him), he's noticed it too, for Jimmy-boy announced that he would be retiring from international football after the conclusion of Abanhfleft's campaign in the Baptism of Fire, the World Cup, or the Cup of Harmony, whichever happens first.

#2 - JEFFERSON SAMONTE - LEFT BACK
(27 years old, Arsenal de Releinthi, male)
We've got another Gunner in the lineup in the form of Jeff Samonte. He's more of a winger than a real defender, but he fills in that left back spot very nicely. And while he will probably not be part of Molak's first team, Samonte has led game-winning defenses in past appearances for both club and country, and particularly notable is the header that he scored against Ludogorets Markovsky in the semifinals of the Fleftic Football Cup to send the Gunners to the final, and the coveted FFF silverware. Look to expect a steady defense, some crosses into the box, and a goal or two from him.

#3 - NESTOR MIKKELSEN - LEFT CENTER BACK
(23 years old, Elektrik Yugal FC, male)
Ooh, someone from the Championship. That's a nice change of pace for the team, with the former ones being mostly comprised of Premier League players. Mikkelsen is untested in the international stage, having been called up only for the first time in this tournament. But if his performance for Elektrik is any indication, he could be a big help in bolstering that back four that has proven vulnerable to determined opponents. Expect nothing fancy from this fresh from the youth academy except good defensive football.

#4 - LUKE EDWARDS - RIGHT CENTER BACK
(26 years old, Riuwiee United, male)
Finally, a Blue Tribesman. Also the designated captain of the team. Edwards is the type of defender that stays in the back and near the keeper during games, but can and will score goals from set pieces like free kicks or corner kicks if the ball lands at his feet, which is a rare occurrence in itself because the corner takers usually aim for the forwards. Luke is an excellent defender, and has made quite a lot of important clearances in games where such clearances mattered. Look for him to hold down the fort with the keeper and the defenders that want to stay with them defenders.

#5 - CHARLES AMOROSO - RIGHT BACK
(29 years old, Arsenal de Releinthi, male)
Three Gunners in the team. Is this even possible? Don't get me wrong; Charles Amoroso is a good defender. It's just that Kasper Molak may still be feeling a sense of loyalty to Arsenal, the team that he managed from just after the Revolution in 2008 to his sudden replacement in 2010 by Godric Wexler. Anyway, looking beyond old club allegiances, Amoroso is a big bastard in the right, but when any opponent with the ball comes up to this defender, Charlie has a relentless drive for stripping the ball away from the attacker. And he usually succeeds, too, because he's got such a big and imposing physique, and he's got the strength to strip the ball from anyone who dared come up against him. Also known as the "Fleftic Mertesacker."

#6 - ABDULLAH MUSA - CENTRAL DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER
(25 years old, Tefel FC, male)
So thankfully, our team wouldn't be overloaded with Arsenal players. Abdullah Musa is a surprise addition to the national team for this cycle, what with his never having been called up for national duty before. But Musa's no pushover. He's good at defense, and he also has a wicked cross that few keepers can ever have a chance of knocking out of a Fleftic player's way. This Muslim's got an uncanny knack for finding that one Fleftic player in that mass of defenders, it's creepy. Look for him to be behind almost every cross that gets converted to a goal.

#7 - ADELAIDE SINGH - LEFT WINGER
(23 years old, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies, female)
We have finally arrived at our first female in the lineup. And I suspect very highly that she won't be our last. She's also one of the Mythical Five of Riuwiee State University's Cinderella-story run from bottom of the University League to champions. These five girls have now gone on to Ladies' Premier League clubs, and while they're still just two years into playing in the big leagues, they all have the makings of successful football careers. Anyway, on Addie's skills, she's as good a crosser as Abdullah Musa, and she also has the ability to find that one Fleftic player among the defenders. She could also score a rare goal or two herself if there's a set piece involved.

#8 - LILLIAN PRESCOTT - RIGHT WINGER
(23 years old, Admiral Porcusces Ladies, female)
Another girl, and another member of Riuwiee State's Mythical Five. Lilly's playing style is basically the same as that of Addie Singh; the only difference is that Lilly's right-footed, and Addie's left-footed. Lilly also alternates between being a defending and attacking player every game (if we're lucky), but when she's in form, she forms the core of some of her team's best goals, whether it's for the win, the draw, or just the consolation. Look for her to make a lot of crosses, but more times than not it will be blocked or the ball will be caught by the keeper.

#9 - ALLISON TORRES - CENTRAL ATTACKING MIDFIELDER
(23 years old, Xemlice Rovers Ladies, female)
Ah, now here we have the CAM behind the strikers. Sonny is the third member of Riuwiee State's Mythical Five, and the one that helps make the magic happen. Sonny has that ability to always be at the right place at the right time either to score a goal or make an assist to someone with a better position. She's not a really good defender, but when your role is an attacking midfielder, then defending isn't really at the top of your list of priorities, isn't it? She will definitely score goals and make assists, and she will definitely be in the top three of either categories. Or maybe both.

#10 - ALEXANDRA ROUSSEAU - LEFT STRIKER
(23 years old, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies, female)
Now we come to the first of Abanhfleft's two best players up front for this current tournament cycle. Alex is the fourth member of Riuwiee State's Mythical Five, and scored seven goals during their historic league campaign in 2012, and among that was the equalizing goal that kept Riuwiee State alive against their rivals Wanda Island Technical College in the final match of the season, and the match that would eventually win them the University League trophy. And while her role with Rosenpfelblatz has made her the primary striker of the team, she would once again settle into a supporting role once she's teamed up with another striker in Abanhfleft's favored 4-3-1-2 formation. But she will still goals for the country, and don't be surprised if she makes it to the top two scorers of the team.

#11 - CHELSEA STUART - RIGHT STRIKER
(23 years old, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies, female)
Ah, another Gunner, and a female one this time. But this girl's so good that I won't even try to insult the Gunners this time. Chelsea is the fifth player in the final squad of Abanhfleft from Riuwiee State's Mythical Five, and for good cause. Even in the University League, she has been a prolific scorer, and she did the same thing for the Lady Gunners for the two seasons that she's been with them. And she looks to do the same for the national team. She will definitely be the Democratic Republic's top scorer, provided she doesn't get injured anytime in the tournament.

Anyway, that's the first eleven of the Democratic Republic's team sorted out. The other twelve will be coming along later.

Roster and Coach Report

A team made motly by Jelle FC players, makes the best national team of Estenia, all time, coming after a friendly against Semarland National Team 0-3 20 days ago. Since then they started training for the World Cup Qualifiers but mostly the Firestorm Cup so, some players have showed worth on playing on the national team and the team has got some potential to win this tournament. Yuri Makareshi is coming from a failed U-21 World Cup held on August 2014 but now he is readier than ever to play in the senior's national team of Estenia. On the other, talent strikers Yuri Makarov and Aleksei Adrianov coming from successful seasons from Cosumarite and Estenian leagues respectively. Yuri Makarov scored (Not yet ready) goals and Aleksei Adrianov scored 2 goals and earned the Silver Ball with ease. As for Sergei Peehlak he's precious for assists. Kaupo Markov also is a precious assistman, both of them have helped their teams and everyone excpects to help the national team too. Most of the players come from stunning seasons so far but those we said are on top form at the moment. Now an Estenian team travels to Sari land for the third time, first with Jelle FC against Chippenham, second for the Lacrosse World Cup and the 3rd now, 3rd time is the charm as we say. Anyway Goodluck to everybody!

Tactics, Formation, and Other Team Information

The Seltician team, with a rather offensive playstyle, plays in a rather uncommon 4-3-2-1 formation, nicknamed "The Pyramid Formation", and is captained by defensive midfielder Jaime Lamb. The two wingers - Harry Harmon and Will Davis - collaborate excellently with each other to create opportunities to score, but also defend excellently. Defensive midfielder Jaime Lamb, the captain of the team, is a major pass supplier, but is also dubbed "The Gateway" between the Seltician defense and offense, being easily able to aid the Seltician defense during attacks from the opposing team, but can also provide passes to the midfield, and sometimes all the way up to striker David Dunn. David Dunn is the lone striker of the Seltician team, and prefers to take a sly approach to the game, capable of easily slipping through the defense and remaining unmarked, but onside. Dunn is always backed up by offensive midfielders Axton Carver and Devon Surrey, who are also major goalscorers for the team, and secondary options for the midfield to pass to if Dunn is unavailable. The defense, which comprises of Adam Adkins, Erwin French, Felix Swindlehurst, and Jimmy Parsons is very solid, almost never moving out from the box, making themselves the last bastion of defense before goalkeeper Henry Wallace. David Dunn takes penalties, Devon Surrey takes free kicks, Harry Harmon takes left-corner kicks, and Will Davis takes right-corner kicks. The Seltician team has a style modifier of +4, and is managed by Lucas Conroy.

AESTATE

Summary:
Colonized by religious orders, this country have uncountable particularities. The influence of religious to its culture. The diversity and freedom, despite conservative roots. The constant presence of immigrants. But mainly our national division into five regions which wrote the present. Fenice, Portus Cale, Trício, Carpanela and Meninx, the most important cities were crucial in Aestate's History.

These cities created two civil wars, three variations at form of goverment, several economic disputes, and a sense of endless struggle deeply felt by Aestateans. Obviously we had negative side effects. However the economic and social development have base in that situation too. Until in the sport have effects. For example, that fight led to a boom in the numbers of soccer fans. Good thing for National Team. Good thing for the national team, after all, good economy and many fans will take people of Aestate to any part of the world.

Union for the National Team?
An overview and a request
Camilo Pistoia in Fenice
La Federazione, Saturday 25 October

First, a small question. We Know. All sports in Aestate have a specifically attribute: the rivalry. Normal situation? Sure, when we unconsidered the typical rampant violence and general disorder practiced by this country. About the soccer in particular, we remember the critical moment four years ago, when Fenice Società was in finals of National League. They traveled to a decisive match against the Nazionale, in Carpanela. They played, they lost, and that situation created a street war with millions of damage.

Of course, I understand the rivalry, the historical of civil wars, and the economy/politic fight of big cities, but now we going to our first international competition, with many different people. And exist a possibility of this people not understand our tradition. Not understand when a fan throw a washbasin in his adversary. Because that, be interesting one truce for Aestate. The Big Five have this capacity? Sincerely, I don’t know. But is a possibility, yep? Maybe with this thought, the coach Paolo Ziccardi chose a religious complex for training, isolated and localized far way of the big five metropolis and its satellites cities. Is a good choice? While many fans contested, saying about the ridiculous practice of “necessity control” by Ziccardi, and his tactical of using the monastery, i approve this choice.

Ok, the players don’t approve, notices about polemics in the nearby covent are frequently, negative manifestations of fans infested internet… I’m accepted these problems. However, consider for a moment. At this style, training could be intensive with concentration. Decisive thing in our situation with low tradition. Besides, Ziccardi has a long list to work:

- Firstly, MidField is the hope of Aestate, all right. The AC Meninx Fans seen this if unquestionable reality. And the center is really effective. Niccolò Soldati, Emilio Grossi and Guido Alves, the triad of Meninx, are a dream group. Add Mario Bobbio, the star of Nazionale, and we have an intelligent, fast and dynamic combination. Is a good arm? Yes, the Meninx fans, for example, can celebrate, yet they forgot a simple problem: the touchlines and its our friends Graciano Papini and Gerardo Citato, the disasters of Gênua. Personally? Our touchline is slow. And when I talk slow, I refer to almost stopping. Consequently, it could broke down our offensive time. Ok, these two disasters are good in defense, but attack is primordial, because the defenders…

- Defense is a problem. I admit, Roberto Ferri, oldest player of the squad, is relative fast, knowledgeable and patient. Anyway, Jack Torrence “the Maniac” is unpredictable. Even Guido Alves working like a libero, he’s offensive in actual formation. That area will be problematic. I wish they would prepare Merrin.

- The Forwards, our forwards, the last coach would have liked to use these players. Álvares is my magic solution to Fenice Società, and my magic solution for this time too. Myers as a brilliant striker than Álvares, but I think, Marco would be the best answer to our goal scoring problems.

Players
Goalkeepers
Age: 29
Matches: 9
Clean Sheets: 6
Shirt Number: 1
Height: 192cm
Club: Eastlea United
Born into a privileged family, Callum played football in the national junior league from a young age. From there, he has moved on to be the main goalkeeper for the top Oaklandian team, Eastlea United. His amazing goalkeeping ability is backed up by his more-than-average height, making him a tough obstacle to get round (shown by his clean sheet to game ratio in The Oaklands first and so far only international tournament, 2:3.

Age: 24
Matches: 0
Clean Sheets: 0
Shirt Number: 12
Height: 184cm
Club: Aldkeep Athletic
James has been the best player for Aldkeep Athletic since its formation, but he has never managed to get them into Division 1, and has never managed to get off the bench in an international match. That could all change though.

Age: 32
Matches: 0
Clean Sheets: 0
Shirt Number: 22
Height: 186cm
Club: Knightdale
"Oliver has the agility of gnat" were the words of his high school PE teacher, and he has proved that so far, although his gnat-like ability has never managed to get him a game for his national team.

Centre Backs
Age: 30
Matches: 9
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 3
Height: 182cm
Club: North Rose Rovers
Peter is well built, a strong tackler, has a good long pass and is a good header: these are all the things needed to be the best centre back, and he has proved that by being made the captain of his club, North Rose Rovers, and vice captain for The Oaklands National Team. He is also renowned for his ever increasing bald patch.

Age: 22
Matches: 9
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 4
Height: 179cm
Club: Poydras Town
Up until last year, Claud was the captain of the U21 team, and is a very fiery defender, and he even occasionally puts on a dash down the centre of the field.

Age: 23
Matches: 3
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 14
Height: 185cm
Club: Cobre Grove
Holmes can be a very effective centre back, and was one of the main players in Cobre Grove's 2nd place finishing team last season.

Left Backs
Age: 23
Matches: 8
Goals: 1
Shirt Number: 2
Height: 186cm
Club: Northwest Whitefay
Young and energetic, Charlie Larple can do all the defending in the world and then make a run, cut in, cut back out again and carry on running. Never underestimate him is my advice.

Age: 33
Matches: 1
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 13
Height: 181cm
Club: Cobre Grove
Teak was found on the steps of an orphanage at the age of 6 months, but even since a year and 6 months, he has been kicking a ball around, fighting the selectors for a place in a high school team, then his local junior team, the Cobre Grove Reserves, then Cobre Grove. Put in short, he is a fighter.

Right Backs
Age: 30
Matches: 8
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 5
Height: 188cm
Club: Knightdale
A fiery temper. Amazing through balls. Rock solid tackling. Dale Inton. All compatible.

Age: 25
Matches: 0
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 15
Height: 177cm
Club: Eastlea United
The most junior Eastlea United player currently in the national team, Harera can be your number one defender in the world (almost) on his day. The problem is, it's not always his day.

Central Midfielders
Age: 26
Matches: 9
Goals: 2
Shirt Number: 7
Height: 184cm
Club: Cobre Grove
Captain
Arguably one of the most talented players in The Oaklands (some consider him better than both members of the strike duo of Cannock and Serpent), Adrian Fife is just what any national team needs. He has stamina (he completed the bleep test and then carried on running for fifteen minutes), he's 'got dem skills' as his newly created fan club have said numerous times, he is a naturally brilliant passer, so just watch out for him.

Age: 23
Matches: 8
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 8
Height: 175cm
Club: Highvale City
A worthy partner in the centre of midfield to Adrian Fife, the youthful Luke Thompson has a brilliant mind for football and has been told he needs to be playing for a Division 1 team.

Age: 32
Matches: 3
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 17
Height: 180cm
Club: Eastlea United
The captain of Eastlea United, Vaclav is aware of everything on a football field, and has been seen shouting back to his goalie at the club, Thomas Callum, to stop picking his nose.

Age: 22
Matches: 0
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 18
Height: 182cm
Club: Barralay Bulls
One of the main players in last years U21 team, Owen Gower has been brought into the national side only recently. He may not get a game, but I am hoping he will so that you can see his gameplay in action. Impressive for a 22 year old.

Left Wingers
Age: 27
Matches: 9
Goals: 2
Shirt Number: 6
Height: 170cm
Club: Northwest Whitefay
Fast and cheeky with ball, Luke Ramp is the perfect example of a winger. His cross is also impeccable, and as assisted many a striker to a great goal.

Age: 34
Matches: 0
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 16
Height: 189cm
Club: Juctat City
A giant of a man, you would not expect Stokes to be a winger, especially at his age, but Stokes can do anything he is asked to out on the left wing. He also scored what was voted for last season's 'Goal of the Season.' It was rather spectacular, as I'm sure he will agree.

Right Wingers
Age: 29
Matches: 5
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 9
Height: 175cm
Club: Poydras Town
Given a place in the Starting XI after Horace Flunker was dropped from the National Side, Goodge has probably worked the hardest out of any player in the squad since then to prove he is up to it. So far, "he is passing with flying colours," said the manager Joseph Kenythe.

Age: 20
Matches: 0
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 19
Height: 175cm
Club: Thorbluff United
He needs to get out of Division 4.

Strikers
Age: 28
Matches: 9
Goals: 8
Shirt Number: 10
Height: 183cm
Club: Eastlea United
In the opinion of most, George Cannock is the best footballer in The Oaklands, and has proved just how good he is by scoring 31 goals in a season last season. He has the most astonishing ball control, and can do everything else associated with being a striker. Together with Paul Serpent, he rules football in The Oaklands.

Age: 28
Matches: 9
Goals: 4
Shirt Number: 11
Height: 184cm
Club: Eastlea United
Partnered in strike with George Cannock, Paul Serpent is an amazing player, with expert shooting skills and whatever else you think he should be able to do (within reason). He score 28 goals last season, and has already score 4 international goals.

Age: 24
Matches: 0
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 20
Height: 188cm
Club: Sodaville
Martin Truce is probably half hoping than either Cannock or Serpent gets injured, because as long as they are on the field, he isn't. He has more than proved his worth for Sodaville though, and has astonishing weak foot ability.

Age: 18
Matches: 0
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 21
Height: 176cm
Club: Knightdale
The youngest member of the squad, Liam Fredericks was the star player for The Oaklands at the U21 world cup. He still has a lot to learn to be like the two main strikers, but he has learnt enough to be an amazing striker for his country.

Age: 28
Matches: 0
Goals: 0
Shirt Number: 23
Height: 180cm
Club: Poydras Town
Blesses with a brilliant last name, Adam Trumpet was took his place in the Squad just two days ago, after Mervin Sempall pulled out with injury. It doesn't matter though, you should watch him play.

Formations
For all formations, each position (e.g. right back, centre mid, striker etc.) has at least one substitute that can be used, so substitute them in in the appropriate places on the formation.
This is the standard formation when both George Cannock and Paul Serpent are on the field:
------10---11------
---------------------
-6----------------9-
------7------8------
---------------------
---2------------5---
-------3----4-------
----------1----------

If you're confused, it is basically 4-4-2, but can be seen as 2,2; 2,2; 2, if you know what I mean, with play going down the wings and then into the centre.

This is the standard formation when only one of George Cannock or Paul Serpent is on the field:
------(10 or 11)------
-----------------------
-6------------------9-
------7--------8------
----------17----------
---2--------------5---
--------3----4--------
-----------1----------

Again for those who are a bit confused, this is basically 4-5-1, but can be seen as 2,2; 1,2,2; 1, with play going down the wings and then into the centre.

This is the first of two standard formations when neither Cannock or Serpent is on the field:
------20-----21------
-----------7----------
--6----------------9--
-----------8----------
---2--------------5---
---------3---4--------
-----------1----------

It is really just 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield, but can be seen as 2,2; 1,2,1; 2

This is the second of two standard formations when neither Cannock or Serpent is on the field:
----------21---------
-----20-------23----
----------7----------
---6-------------9---
----------------------
---2----3--4----5---
----------1----------

It's just 4-3-3 guys! But with a spearheaded midfield and attack.

The 4-4-2 is more likely to be started from the middle of the game, when one has been taken off, and the 4-4-3 if they both not starting.

I would just like to stress that these two are very rare, and will probably not be used as Cannock and Serpent are probably the two most probable members of the Starting XI.

Team Biography
The Oaklands have played in one tournament. This was the third edition of the regional tournament, the UWCFA Gold Cup. Let's just say, it was the best possible start that an international team could make, as they won the tournament without losing a game. The two strikers, George Cannock and Paul Serpent, are the spearhead of the team that can make them so successful, but one shouldn't forget about all of the other players: the amazing goalkeeper, Thomas Callum; the ridiculously skilled centre mid, Adrian Fife and the astonishingly fast left winger, Luke Ramp. To back it all up, the manager Joseph Kenythe, is what all of the players needed to mold them into a good team. However, they have never played any nation outside of their region, World Changers, and so could turn out to be puny compared to everyone else. We'll just have to see.

OOC: So, I follow SJG's wish to go strong and made me stronger, you know the feeling of a big NSsportsperson telling you goodluck, personally, jeje.(Spanish laugh wasn't needed but I don't know, I always loved it)

Time to shock the World

Chapter 1: Last training on Estenia

"Give me the ball." shouted Makaereshi on Nazarenkov and then Nazarenkov gave him the ball, they were playing at the Training Ground on Rannin, outside the Rannin Palace Stadium which the training ground had a nice view of.

"Move forward, Eenpalu." shouted Makareshi again then giving the ball to Eenpalu, who gave it to Adrianov and wouldn't miss the chance to shot it on Maksimov, the main keeper, going on the post and in. Maksimov then said

"Good job Adrianov, your shooting has improved, we all have improved, I think."

"Not fully, yet." shouted Yuri Nazarenkov, uncle of the Right back, Andrei Nazarenkov and so he added "We must train harder, this Baptism of Fire must get on our homes, we must win this, we must train hard. This our time to shock that world, I have the feeling that we are going to take that trophy back home. It's our time to shock the world, we haven't shocked them yet, we haven't done what is called surprise. Let's go that training and train hard, everyone must be ready for ther biggest surprises, now what I want is starting the chance as better as possible, surprise chance, second try for today, let's begin."

and everyone just started taking their places for the excersice. So, Dursimov started the excersice, gave a long pass to Eenpalu, with a sure move to the right Nazarenkov moved and then Eenpalu gave him a pass, Nazarenkov moved forward and crossed the ball to Makarov who did an unbelievable header ending on an unbelievable save made by Maksimov, this time he said "Try again, we must score gaols to all our group rivals, especially Devonta. Devonta is THE threat, along with Seltik. Get prepared for better saves than that if we continue that way. We must do stronger and better chances. Let's try again."

The excersise began again, this time Nazarenkov saw that Maksimov had left space for him to shot, so he did an 80 metre shot ending to the net and he asked "Like that? I think it was that. Don't leave space, our rivals will score amazing goals from that range I scored."

The 4th time began, Dursimov gave the ball to Makereshi, who moved forward and gived the ball with a long pass to Adrianov, which him did a small intelligent cross for a very strong Makarov header ending to the net of Maksimov. After that training ended, after 4 hours of doing so. When theyr returnmed to the hotels, they just saw the last Meistriliiga match of the season, the Jelle FC, Levadia Narkiv ending 1-1 and Jelle FC taking the trophy, at least them, didn't have that strong feelings the players on Rannin Stadium had.

Next Morning

Everyone woke up up early, because they had to eat breakfast before going to Sari Lands. (In Estenia, Sarian is recognised as Sari Lands, you get the feeling.) When the entered the dining room, it had a large buffet with eggs, toasts, sandwiches, tea and everything. Peehlak is the one of the National Team players who helped for the breakfast to be made, he woke up earlier than the others but slept the most, after he ate breakfast before the others. When everyone finished, including the coaches, everyone got inside the bus which was leading them to the airport.

Inside the bus, everyone was either checking their websites, or watching TV, or just sleep before reaching the International Airport of Rannin. Makareshi, Makarov and Adrianov were just talking bout their girlfriends and after that talked about the Baptism of Fire, telling their plans. Adrianov had that crazy idea in mind about the Jarov Plan, it was an impossible try. It was starting with a long pass, being continued with a dribble and a pass and ending with a rabona, they had tried it lots of times but failed miserably, only on the last training they had success, which gave them hope for the Baptism of Fire. Then after few minutes they arrived to the airport and the journey continues...
Runner-up at the 1st OMAHAN FUTSAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, 4th at Maple Leaf Bowl III, 4th on Baptism of Fire 57, 2nd at Runner Cup 4, 3rd at 21st World Lacrosse Championships.

Les Pays d'en haut isn't advanced tochnologically. We don't have guns or other modern weapons, the main weapon is the sword and inhabitants of les Pays d'en haut (including soccer players) carries their sword and medieval armour with them when we're travelling abroad. Postby Polaaskan » Sat Oct 25, 2014 12:09 pm

As the cold sun set over the Polaaskan sky, Ulrik Leonardsen drove towards the airport. Today's training session had went well. After that, he went home to think about the group and to study tactics, and such. His assistant, Jakob Freidrich, was on the team coach with the 23 out of the 46, (which were out of 92 originally) players who he and Jakob had selected for the Baptism of Fire. Maybe they all would not go to the World Cup. Ulrik had been watching all the highlights of the Polaa Premardivisjon and he knew for sure, who he had his eye on. He was relying on the team to impress and play well together. The team spirit and morale were high, which was something both Ulrik and Jakob were grateful for. Sol Arke had bonded brilliantly as captain, and Christian Hogg looked the right man for vice-captain. And of course, there was the amazing midfield quartet of Lukas Karlstrom, Iiro Mihaylov, Frans Laurensen and Mikke Leonardsen. He found this midfield area the hardest to choose in the trials. Players like Stefan Oklanik, Rune Vinter and Matei Obzakhalov all looked great but did not make the cut. Ulrik hoped he would not regret this one bit at all.

His strike forced seemed great. There was one niggle that Jari Sinasson was out injured, so he couldn't join them in the cup. Hopefully, he'll be available at the World Cup, thought Ulrik. Patrik Ael was a perfect partner for Timo Heinckel. Heinckel could score goals from anywhere, whereas Ael was better in the air. The next player in the team like Heinckel was Heiko Blonqvist. In fact, considered Ulrik, Heiko could start instead of Patrik. Well, with Iiro creating the chances it wouldn't matter. They just needed to score. Willem Jakobsen and Soren Kvist looked to be reliable backups. Well, they proved that, against other strikers like Patrik Persson and Jaroslav Dimitrov, who both shone in the trials. And of course, Ulrik remembered. There was the under 21 team. Strikers like Renat Lindquist looked promising. He was really leading the line for Southwik Hardcastles at the moment. And with three reliable goalkeepers, four of the best full-backs in the nation and some of the most grittiest, most tough, centre-backs that the whole tournament could ever see.

Before he knew it, Ulrik was at the airport. He only had to wait ten minutes for the team coach to arrive; Jakob stepped out first, followed by Sol Arke, the captain, and then one by one all 22 other members of the Polaa squad stepped out. More transport was waiting for them. They only had to wait two minutes for an airport shuttle bus to collect them all and take them to their terminal, to get their passports stamped, before jetting off to the Royal Kingdom of Quebec. Exotic, thought Ulrik. Then again, but will it be warmer than Polaaskan and Semarland? Oh well, Ulrik thought. I'm sure the players will be used to it. Before they knew it, they were on the plane. Ulrik sat down next to Jakob and the first-team coach, Petter Svensson. Petter was like a third coach, or a third assistant if you will. He had got to know the players very well, and of course with no surprises Ulrik and Jakob were thankful for this. Ulrik and Jakob had selected Petter himself - he, like Jakob, was a manager last season. For Novaya Mollen, who got a decent 5th place finish. But what made him stand out was his bonding and trust with the players. And Jakob was trusted by the whole squad too. And Ulrik was beginning to be trusted by virtually the entire squad, too. His thoughts were interrupted when a voice came on the tannoy.

"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for flying with PolaaAirlines. This is a flight to the Royal Kingdom of Quebec."

Ulrik settled into his seat comfortably. It was going to be a long flight, and Ulrik needed to sleep before he could talk with Jakob and Petter.

This could be Polaaskan's year, he thought.

Anything is possible.

Greatest Victory: Isula ĝe Ru 4-0 Salchar (Spitsbergen, Svalbard, Polar Islandstates)
Greatest Defeat: Taeshan 1-0 Isula ĝe Ru (La Popular, Alianza Albos), Zenic 1-0 Isula ĝe Ru (Bjarnarey, Norscelt, Polar Islandstates)
Full International Record: 5-3-2

Perhaps no team has been so unceremoniously thrust upon the international stage as the Isulan squad has. A short while ago, in Polar Islandstates for the 19th Copa Rushmori, the relatively unknown team found themselves on the right end of a six-game winning streak, one that catapulted them into the Quarterfinal round. Though they were disposed of there by The Empire of Zenic, eventual third place finishers, by virtue of a 1-0 match at the iconic Barge in Bjarnarey, the Isulan run, as well as their brilliant showings against such established names as Pasarga, Sargossa, The Kytler Peninsulae, and Sarrbia have transformed Isula ĝe Ru from strangely-speaking outsiders into contenders, perhaps not wholly feared but certainly respected.
This position, however, may not be one the Isulans necessarily wish themselves to be in. Launching into the type of run that puts them two games away from the Nasjonale, perhaps the most iconic stadium in international football, is magnificently overwhelming for a nation who will play their first WCC-sanctioned match against RPGers in a few days time. It's subjected them to staggering amounts of scrutinization by media, by foreign league scouts, by opponents. It's no doubt that Isula ĝe Ru is amongst the largest names to be taking part in the festivities in The Sarian. The target that the Copa Rushmori has plastered on their backs is also a massive question mark. Was the Copa success nothing but a fluke? Will the Baptism of Fire and subsequent World Cup drop the Isulans down to the mediocrity that marked their 0-2-1 Copa Rushmori 18 campaign? Or will their blazing success in Polar Islandstates stand up to examination, and be the herald of WCC-sanctioned glory?
There are a few men below who have the task of transforming that question mark. Will it be a period, or an exclamation point?
Only the next two weeks can tell you.
Introducing the Isulan Squad for Baptism of Fire LVII:

The Squad

Coaches and Staff

Head Coach: Siolæsĉigu Marcu Foda Maria
Marcu Foda Maria, like all Isulans, is a gentleman and a scholar. He holds the title of Siolæsĉigu, translated as "scholar" or "academic", and utilizes extensive tactical strategy in his management of this squad. Unique amongst the remainder of the coaches and players, he has no club affiliation, instead utilizing his tactical mind for more noble and quiet pursuits, such as chess or poetry, two things which he is widely considered to be quite excellent at. Now entering his third tournament, the man is the epitome of the word "wise", and is treated with a reverent respect amongst the teams. He can be seen in his required dress, long, black Scholar's Robes.

Assistant: Samuél Saidolaru Aĝuu
Should somebody not know better, they would think Samuél was the manager. Dressed in a suit and tie, as a sharp contrast to Marcu's mandatory scholar's robes, and shouting out the orders which Marcu gives during each match, it is he who is perhaps the clearer face of the side. He is, however, very much the assistant to the Scholar, consulting the man for tactical advice. It is he who is the vehement, passionate loudspeaker for the cool and calm tactical mind that is the Scholar. Any thought of him as shallow, however, must be dismissed now from your mind. The man has won domestic titles aplenty, provided media fodder in Polar Islandstates, yes, but also glittering leadership and motivation. He is the Isulan's swagger, their badassery.

Second Assistant: Ioura Masu Eĝia
Ioura's career with the Isulan national team and his club Arĝa CF was a short one, but immensely fruitful. He provided the driving force on defense for two Copa Rushmoris, and, after his retirement at the ripe age of 38, has announced his desire to continue his role of extraordinary leadership on the squad, assuming the role of a secondary assistant and defensive co-ordinator. The final element of the trifecta of leadership, he can be found in a tracksuit and clipboard, encouraging substitutes, making his viewpoint known to the referress, aligning the defense against counterattacks and setpieces, and trying to placate Samuél Saidolaru Aĝuu.

Team Officer: Anneka Bau
The elderly Polarian woman is perhaps the most unlikely member of the Isulan contingent. The designated Team Liason Officer assigned by the FPIFA for Copa Rushmori XIX, she expressed a desire to continue to travel with the Isulan sqaud as they begin their WCC-sanctioned campaign. She will handle anything not involving football, be it translation services (Anneka being one of the few in the entourage who speaks both Isulan and English), transportation, or media.

Players

Starting XI

Keeper: Caĉiiu Ricadu Sinha
Caĉiiu is widely regarded to be the best keeper in the nation. He is the man, along with Striker Elhu Micaila Saidosaquera and Manager Samuél Saidolaru Aĝuu, who has been credited with leading Maria CF to their top status as the single most successful team in Isula ĝe Ru. Caĉiiu, as per most Isulan tactics, is a fairly athletic keeper, always prepared to receive a pass from a teammate and even control the ball for some periods of time. He has been the stalwart Isulan ruler in the goalmouth from the team's inception, and will continue to be the final line of defense in the Isulan setup into the Baptism of Fire.

Left Back: Iacobu Ĉarlu Alassæra
Iacobu is a versatile, all-around defender who is always prepared to play forward when the team is attacking. Despite being slightly reluctant to go back to his position, he is still a stalwart member of the Isulan lines, and will be the most attacking of the four Isulan defenders.

Center-Back: Dabiit Ducau Ĉiaba
Dabiit has already cemented himself as one of the premier defenders in the Isulan League. Content to stay back and contain the ball and the game, he is perhaps the most conservative of the Isulan back four. Dabiit worked wonders for the Isulan squad in the Copa Rushmori, his agressive tackling and crisp, ferocious challenges earning him a spot on the Baptism squad. Expect to see him taking his time, calmly turning away advances and breaking up passing attempts.

Center-Back: Ioa Maria Rusu Lara
In an effort to presever chemistry, Ducau Ĉiaba and Rusu Lara were kept in their club team's position, where they provide the backbone for Olympi. Though the squad has struggled of late, shining performances by both players in recent competitions have meant that their names remain inscribed on the Isulan team sheet, at least for this tournament.

Right Back: Ianhu Iulha Goranu
Filling the boots of veteran Ioura Masu Eĝia will not be an easy task, but the youngster Ianhu was determined by the CFN to be more than up to the task. Though he may not have the capability Ioura had to shut down entire sides of the field, entire passing lanes are very much in danger on the right. Ianhu also has magnificent technical ability, making him the defender of choice to end breakways and handle long balls.

Midfield: Bilha Saidomarcu Domique
Bilha's style and manner, both on and off the field, is usually only the second thing opposing players will notice, the first being the magnificent beard he keeps at all times. This bald-headed, bearded beast of a man is the team's main scorer, and an excellent chance at both power and finesse shots. He is the powerhouse of the team and usually the bane of Silver League keepers. His goals in the Copa Rushmori were stunning and tearing, and there is no doubt he will continue to make opposing keepers weep.

Midfield: Micaíl ĝ'O Isula Maria
Bilha's teammate Micaíl is the other half of a partnership which has worked wonders for Esĉelha Siripta Saiude throughout the league. Micaíl sits back, takes the ball and controls it well, then the team's main distributor unleashes one of his trademark square-balls in an effort to puncture the opposition's defenses. More often than not, this dazzles fans and moves the Isulan team up the table.

Left Wing: Aier Sel Sol
The Winger's job in the tactics laid out by Marcu Foda Maria is to control the ball down the flanks, receive distributing passes from the middle, and move the ball as far forward as they can, as efficiently as they can. Aier Sel Sol, who came off the bench in the Copa Rushmori to score, amaze, and thoroughly earn his Starting XI spot, will do his utmost to follow these directions, though he is notorious for spiking tactical formations with his own style and speed.

Forward: Elhu Micaila Saidosaquera
There is no striker in the nation better than Elhu. The foot behind many a Copa Rushmori goal, Elhu is no stranger to the look of a rippling net, and will look during the Baptism of Fire to familiarize himself even more with this sight. To defend Elhu Micaila Saidosaquera is a horror story for a defender, and to find a way to shut him down, a triumph for a back line.

Forward: Ala Samuél Ĝea
Samuél Ĝea is the face of a Ĝa CF team that desperately needs such a face. Athletic and nimble, he is the perfect complement to Elhu's quiet flamboyance, and the two, despite generally being opponents, have rapidly developed a bond that has, with very little exception, led to balls smashing past keepers.

Right Wing: Mitu Maria Albu Saida
The Esiruan right winger has grown into himself during the two Copas. Slated by many national team followers to become the young leader of the team, he has matured into a passing threat. He's scored only one goal for his country, but an easygoing manner and ability to bond combines with deadly precise passing to put the ball in the net off the right much more often than before.

Substitutes

Keeper: Micaíl Ĝetou Saidosata
Defense: Laudo Cailha Eara

Midfield: Iulho Maria Seta
Forward: Ioa Maria ĝe Gaubilha

Tactics

The Isulan game is a unique one, revolving mostly around ball control, and a massive amount of through-runs as the main manner of setting up scoring. In fact, the Isulan squad will generally prefer to dominate possession in the middle third of the pitch, forfeiting possible openings and shots in favor of waiting for the chance to spring forward, pass the ball in stride, and hammer it into the goal. The game, then, will revolve around quick, blazing strikes surrounded by periods of ball control and passing battles.
On defense, Isulans are never afraid to pass back to their keeper, a fact that can lead to trouble. The main role of the defense on an Isulan team is to send the ball back into the midfield battle, a battle that will always occur when playing against the Isulans.
Besides the lightning-quick through runs and one-twos which punctuate long periods of possession struggle, Isulans delight in corner kicks, seeing them as a grand opportunity to score, and generally capitalizing on this opportunity.
In this way, the Isulan game is both technical and fast, both demanding and exhilarating. While some teams may not see the amount of goals they are used to, that does not mean the game will be any less hard-fought and exciting.

Some characteristics of Isulan football:

Restricting play to a midfield battle
Punctual through runs and long balls in quick jabs at goal
1-on-1s with opposing keepers
Passing back to the goaltender, even at times when such a move seems impractical
Goals from corners
Sportsmanship and honor

Some (OOC) Notes on Roleplay

During this competition, my RPs will take the form of a novel, telling a story which was hinted at in my RPs for the Copa Rushmori. These RPs, retroactively titled "The Complex Life of Mitu Maria Albu Saida", are linked below. This storyline will be expanded upon, and multiple more introduced as part of the novel. I would ask that you do not roleplay about events in my nation unless given express permission to do so. You may, of course, ask me for that permission.
In addition to this, I may occasionally RP using twitter. As such, I recommend following the account linked below in my signature. Twitter RPs take time, and are posted on twitter before the entire compilation is posted in this thread. As such, I would like to ask that you telegram me with names of scorers, injuries, cards, etc if you complete an RP before I have posted one.
Thanks so much, and good luck to everyone!

New Bordial Team Preview: Goalkeepers

James Novem
Number - 01
Position: Goalkeeper
Age: 30
Clubs:
Y72-Y76 - Vindel
Y76-Y77 - Tribeca (loan)
Y77-Y81 - Tribeca
Y81 - Alandar (loan)
Y82- Silverback F.C.

James Novem was promoted from the Vindel youth squad in Y72 at the age of 18. Novem never really broke into the squad at Vindel, accumulating few starts from Y72-Y75 playing primarily in the reserves. He starting a few more games in the Y75-Y76 season, but it wasn't enough to cement him in the starting squad. Vindel sent out Novem to Tribeca for the Y76-Y77 with a buyout clause generating much controversy from fans due to the rivalry between the clubs. Tribeca used its right to buy after a great season with Novem starting in goal. Novem's shot stopping power allowing Tribeca for the Y76-Y77 season to reach the Tormund | Kalos Cup Semifinals and place 2nd in League II. However, they would fall short in their promotion efforts. The next season (Y77-Y78), Novem would aid Tribeca in placing first in League II. At the age of 24 following his stellar season with a league high cleansheet, he received the goalkeeper of the season award. Novem would become a vital part of Tribeca's team during their time in the Premier League. In Y79, Novem would earn his first national team cap at the age of 25 while at newly promoted Tribeca. However, Novem began to fall out of favor following Tribeca bringing in Nick Callum in Y80. To alleviate this, he was sent on loan to Alandar in which he was a vital piece in preventing their relegation. Mid-table Silverback F.C. placed a bid for 28-year old Novem in Y82 and he moved to the club in the winter transfer window. Novem would meet great success at Silverback F.C. winning the Goalkeeper of the League award in 2 consecutive years, Y82-Y83, and Y83-Y84. James Novem is currently the starting goalkeeper for both Silverback F.C. and the New Bordial National Team. Novem is also currently a favorite for Goalkeeper of the League this season with 6 clean sheets and allowing only 5 goals in 10 games, the lowest in the league, for the currently 2nd place Silverback F.C.

Lee Si-Rung
Number - 12
Position: Goalkeeper
Age: 19
Clubs:
Y82- Tribeca
Y82-Y84 - Si-Edon (loan)

Lee Si-Rung is a native Werstboro, a small village close to Si-Edon. However, at the age of 10, he joined Tribeca's youth academy. In Y82 at the age of 16, Si-Rung was promoted from Tribeca's youth squad and immediately sent on loan to Si-Edon. In Si-Edon, Lee Si-Rung became an immediate favorite. In the Y83-Y84 season, at the age of 17, Lee Si-Rung defeated the favorite and former national team starter Nick Callum for the Goalkeeper of the League title in League II. Lee Si-Rung's shot stopping power allowed Si-Edon to place 3rd in League II eventually winning them promotion to the Premier League which would be brief, only lasting them one season from Y84-Y85. Lee Si-Rung returned from loan in the Y84-Y85 season where he was met with wide acclaim as an alternate goalkeeper. In the current season, Lee Si-Rung has earned the title of starting goalkeeper for Tribeca. Si-Rung currently has 5 clean sheets and has allowed 8 goals, the 3rd lowest in the league, for currently 5th place Tribeca.

Nick Callum
Number - 22
Position: Goalkeeper
Age: 37
Clubs:
Y65-Y69 - Shell Cove
Y69-Y71 - Brezner
Y71-Y72 - Shell Cove
Y72-Y74 - Vasenshir
Y74-Y80 - Kalos Square F.C.
Y80-Y83 - Tribeca
Y83- Shell Cove

Nick Callum is a native of Shell Cove and was a part of their youth squad until being promoted at the age of 17 to their senior squad. After his first season in Y65-Y66, Callum cemented himself at the young age of 18 as the starting goalkeeper for Shell Cove. At the age of 19, in the Y67-Y68 season, Callum became the youngest recipent of the Goalkeeper of the League award for League II. The next season, Callum earned his first national team cap and played a vital role in helping Shell Cove achieve promotion to the Premier League in the Y68-Y69 season while winning the Goalkeeper of the League award for the 2nd year in a row. Shell Cove was sold to Brezner for a record transfer fee in Y69 at the age of 21. Though Callum was a key part of Brezner's starting team, he didn't meet the same success he found at Shell Cove in his club career. Following the end of contract, he decline to sign a new one and instead signed for Shell Cove to aid his club in avoiding relegation as they narrowly did the previous season. At 23, Nick Callum lead Shell Cove to a strong mid-table finish as well as winning the Goalkeeper of the League title, his first in the Premier League. Callum would later be transferred for a club record fee to Vasenshir following his title win at the age of 24 where he became a starting fixture winning Goalkeeper of the League in the Y73-Y74 season as well as winning the New Bordial Premier League. Callum was transferred at 26 to Kalos Square F.C. Here, he obtained two Tormund | Kalos Cup Titles and one Premier League title through Y79. However at the age of 31 in the early part of Y79-Y80 season, Callum was injured for 5 months due to torn ACL. Despite his return in mid-March, his efforts were not enough to save Kalos Square F.C. from relegation. 32 year-old activated a release clause following their relegation and later signed on a 3 year contract with Tribeca. In the Y81-Y82 season, Callum led Tribeca to their 1st premier league title winning Goalkeeper of the League for the 5th time, a record number for the premier league. Following the end of his contract, he opted sign at the age of 35 with his hometown club Shell Cove in Y83. Nick Callum won the Y84-Y85 Goalkeeper of the League title for Shell Cove but barely missed promotion on the playoff. Nick Callum is currently the starting goalkeeper for Shell Cove and former New Bordial National Team starting goalkeeper following his decision to semi-retire from national team duty. Nick Callum currently has 3 clean sheets and 12 goals scored against for currently 1st placed Shell Cove.

It was a short interview limited to only to three fast questions that would be answered by the fast attacking, versatile, ball controlling, effective goal scoring Forward Gerald Johansen, This because of a scheduled pre-world cup friendly match against Pine Island in Palm Beach Stadium, Rock City. The sport of football was a older sport, That has many fans who loved to spend there money on it. Soccer is the most popular sport in the United States of Devonta just in front of Football.
