The Fascist American Empire; born of war against the Old Republic, the People fought boldly in the Coup Against Corruption (CAC), finally toppling the evil, corrupted, greed-filled Democratic Republic. At last the repressive Republic was destroyed! The Congress had stolen from the People, forcing them into poverty while the Congress members grew fat off of the fruits of the People's Labors. The President had even thrown out the Constitution and declared that all Constitutional Rights, once the only things the People had left, were denied to everyone who was not a member of the government. Infuriated, the people protested and were violently put down by law enforcement, with street executions becoming an all but daily occurrence. For two years this went on, although no truly organized Rebellion was raised until the rise of an insignificant, middle-aged widower and his son. Malnourished, impoverished, and fed up with the Republic, Steven Lee Sr. embodied the People of America. With his natural skill as an orator, the Populace flocked to him, and gave him their allegiance. After a nine-year-long, brutal Civil War, the Republic was felled and Steven Lee Sr., now Tsar Steven Lee I, was given complete power by the will of the people.
Immediately afterward, the Lady Liberty Reborn was invaded by China, and by mere persistence drove the Chinese off of the Continent. NATO fell into shambles as North America exploded into a state of war. Mexico was forcibly annexed and Canada surrendered after a long, brutal war which engulfed the border provinces of both nations, and due to the relentless attacks by Quebecois Nationalists. Canada was later split and annexed by both Victors. The Caribbean campaigns led to the formation of a new Continental Commonwealth, the Empire. Spreading from Canada to Panama, the North American Continent was all but united. Greenland was later purchased from Denmark.
However, pro-Republic counter-revolutionaries remained, and they soon became ruthless terrorists, murdering members of Government, butchering officers and their families in their beds, and massacring hundreds in five different major attacks. His Imperial Majesty, Tsar Steven Lee I, Emperor of North America, soon proposed a compromise which would allow the Democratic-Republicans limited self-rule in a colony. This colony lasted peacefully for three years, as they could set their own tax rates, have local elections, and partake in everything that Mother America had tossed aside. Unfortunately, the terrorists soon began a new wave of attacks from the colony against the Motherland. Starting with the bombing of Gallifrey, which coincidentally was an unintentional attempted assassination against a foreign leader on a diplomatic mission in the Empire. Thankfully, the assassination was a complete failure; but, mournfully, dozens were killed and scores wounded after the bombing. Casualty rates rose further as the bomber, Jacob Evans, opened fire upon those who survived.
