Welcome to the tenth edition of the longest-running collegiate american football league on NS Sports. If you’re looking for a league where you can come in and have a reasonable shot at success right off the bat, then this is the perfect league for you, as the maximum RP bonus is VERY generous, potentially allowing a new team to compete on a level of near parity with veteran teams within a few games. In general, NSCF tends to be pretty laid-back, and doesn’t require you to check your computer daily, as games are played three times a week. Also, if you’re looking for a place to groom your future World Bowl leaders, then this is the place to do it!
Take a look at the previous season for a better feel of the competition, and what to expect. The season typically runs for about six weeks. If you're interested, check out the signup form below. If you have any further questions, feel free to take them to the discussion thread. Good luck!
Conferences and Schedules
Teams will be evenly split across a number of conferences dependent on the number of signups. Conference hosts are yet to be finalized, but will likely consist mostly of people with hosting experience. Once signups are closed, conference assignments will be announced, and conference hosts will announce their conference schedules. From there, all of the schedules will be posted in one post near the top of the RP thread. The conferences will be arranged so that returning teams will retain their conference where possible according to the current procedural list. The format of regular season games will guarantee that teams play all others in their conference at least once, and have a total of ten games, plus the opportunity for up to three non-conference games for a potential total of thirteen games.
Postseason Format
Depending on the number of conferences, the playoff format may vary, but the number of teams will be no more than one third of total entrants. Regardless of the exact number of teams that qualify, it will be a seeded, single-elimination bracket, with no third place game. Higher seeds will have home team advantage throughout, until the final -- to be held at a neutral location, with a bidding and voting process later in the season -- and seeds will not be recalculated and re-drawn after each round.
Limit of Signups per Nation
Nations that actively participated in NSCF 8 or 9 (posted a roster and RP’d at least twice) have the option to signup one or two teams. A third team may be permitted for nations who have displayed consistently strong RPing in previous seasons. Any nations that did not meet those qualifications or any new nations to NSCF may only signup one team, unless special dispensation is given based on RP history.
Scorination
Scorination will be done using the latest available release of Commerce Heights' xkoranate, with the SQIS formula (IFAF overtime) and "xkoranate style" modifiers (this may be subject to change). Games will be scorinated three times weekly, on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. The times that scores are posted will vary due to the fact that there are multiple hosts, so keep in mind who is scorinating your conference when looking for your most recent results. Note that NSCF also utilizes a degrading RP bonus, to reward consistent RPing throughout a season. The system is outlined in the NSCF procedural list.
Other stuff
NSCF has a player-operated recruiting system, which you can see in effect in previous seasons or ask about in the discussion thread. Season 10 will also feature a limited number of bowl games for non-playoff teams (see season 9's thread, linked above, for more information). These aspects of NSCF will be explained in the RP thread prior to season start, or feel free to drop in on the discussion thread and ask. We don't bite!
The latest NSCF rankings (link coming soon) will be used in conjunction with a large RP bonus equal to approximately 85% of the maximum possible ranking score. RP bonus will be cumulative, but will degrade at a rate of 50% (of the total bonus value) three times (to be specified when the schedule is finalised) during the regular season. RP bonus is reset entirely at the start of Non-Conference Week (matchday 11) and will then be cumulative with no degradation for the remainder of the competition.
Postseason Awards
All nations can nominate up to five recipients for each of the post-season awards, and the NSCF Committee will vote on each of the following at the end of the season:
- Most Outstanding Player
- Offensive Player of the Year
- Defensive Player of the Year
- Special Teams Player of the Year
- Coach of the Year
NSCF 10 Projected Timeline
This is subject to alteration, but as a general rule, expect the season to begin toward the end of September and the Championship game to be scorinated in early to mid November.
For now, a rough outline might be something like:
Season begins on September 25th
First games on September 28th
Non-conference week October 20th-26th
First round of playoffs on October 30th

* Style of play MUST be a number between -5 and +5, with higher values correlating to a more offensive style of play.
* All style modifiers will be rounded to three decimal places where necessary.
* Teams not specifying a style modifier will be set to neutral (zero).
Rosters are not necessary at this moment in time, and a thread for them will be created at a later date.
The target for signups is 36, with a hard cap of 48. Ideally the final number will be 36, 42 or 48, though other numbers are potentially workable.
