Such things happen from time to time. Sometimes it's to cleanse a world of alien filth for Sidh habitation, sometimes it's to ensure the human populace doesn't shoot us in the back, sometimes it's to make an example of those who dare to rise against Imperium.

Whatever the reason, don't assume we Sidhae take genocides lightly - they tend to be extremely unpopular for obvious reasons, even among the more tender-hearted of our own kind, and any enemy propagandist has a field day when news of another Sidh genocide campaign reaches him.

Physical extermination, however, is the very last resort. Normally, we prefer to eradicate hostile human populations by assimilation - engineering conditions of constant hardship for them and offering conversion as a way out, dispersing them by resettlement programs so that their original identity breaks down easier, and so on. Killing millions of people is such a waste of labour.

A good example is the infamous Purge of Pnakotas, when over 150 million humans were put to death. The goal was to make an example of that world, and while it did indeed succed for a while, we had shot in our own leg in the long run with it, Federation propaganda still constantly reminding of that event now, almost 50 years later, and statistical analysis also indicate a considerable decrease in Sidh troops taken prisoner, proportional to increase in casualties and MIAs in the post-Pnakotas period.
