Some people believe that owning anything with 'the Symbol' will bring you bad luck. A diamond engraved with the Symbol will bring death to the owner. An apple eaten with the Symbol engraved in the side using the stem, however, is considered good luck.

In the more rural regions, some believe that if you broom breaks in any way, you must burn down your house to rid the bad luck.

Office of the Interior estimates that every year, 4-5 homes are burned down because of this. This is down from 300 a year only 50 years ago.

Also, some kids believe that if you type /root/violet into the school's servers, they will reset. Three kids tried this last year with no success.

As a entirely sea faring nation, many islander of AHSCA think it's bad luck to sing or be jubilant while aboard a ship out to sea, especially those on a long trip. Whistling, singing or just being 'happy' is tempting fate and will call the winds summoning storms.

Always drink blood with your fangs:

Vampires will always say they drink blood with their fangs extended, even when drinking it from a cup. Four hundred years ago a vampire in Italy drunk a goblet of blood without his fangs and suddenly grew sick. It's been a superstition ever since.

Sprinkling a few pinches of garlic powder on a kitchen floor will ward off dead spirits:

Ironically, even vampires like to avoid the dead. Long ago, a vampire who was also a gifted psychic said she stopped sensing/seeing ghosts after accidentally spilling a saucer of garlic powder on her kitchen floor.

There is a long-lasting superstition instilled in Insanica's people that the first half of anything is the best, and good luck. This is due to Insanica's founding war, in which Half 1 (which would become Insanica) of the original pioneers fought Half 2 and won.

For many people, cracking your knuckles while with a friend or family member during their birthday is considered bad luck. If you crack one knuckle, you get one day of bad luck (2 knuckles = 2 days of bad luck and so on).

In several Moroccan villages, It is believed if you eat 3 raw potatoes you will either suffer either financial difficulties or loss of loved ones for 10 years, or enjoy a lucky 10 years filled with wealth. The story is derived after 2 provety struck brothers supposedly split 6 potatoes, one growing up to be extremely wealthy & famous while the other one died of hunger.

Bembernan sailors, as in many countries, have built up a whole raft (lol) of superstitions. Most commonly they believe that setting sail on various days of the week can bring various different calamities, and suggest various means to avoid them:

  • Monday - A heightened risk of a man going overboard. Can be negated by scrubbing the decks thoroughly before departure.
  • Tuesday - The hull of the ship may spring a leak. The entire crew singing a traditional maritime song before setting sail can reduce the risk.
  • Wednesday - Sharks may circle the vessel for the entire voyage, and sharks circling a vessel is another superstition that brings general bad luck. They may be deterred by flying a flag upside-down on departure.
  • Thursday - A sickness may spread amongst the crew. This may be avoided by each crew member biting into a lemon before leaving the harbour.
  • Friday - A general day of ill-omen to set sail, with heightened risk of sinking some way along the journey. Unusually, there is no real way to improve the chances of a ship that departed on a Friday.
  • Saturday - A day of good fortune, provided the vessel leaves port in good spirits.
  • Sunday - As this is meant to be a rest day, vessels departing on a Sunday will experience poor winds that leave them stranded. In modern times, this can be inferred to mean engine problems too. A 'siesta' before leaving may improve the crew's fortunes.

The Central Naval Commission, which governs Bemberna's ocean-going armed forces, has banned all superstitions aboard military vessels, and anybody found partaking in the traditions associated with them receives disciplinary action. Civilian sailors - fishermen, cargo ship crews, and the like - occasionally still abide by them, however.

More day-to-day superstitions are numerous. Most commonly of all, people believe that a Bembernan blue fox crossing in front of you from left to right (either on foot or on the road) is good luck. Drivers will experience bad luck if they hit the fox. If the fox cross your path from right to left, however, you'll have terrible luck unless you kill it immediately. This particular superstition has caused many traffic accidents in the past, though less so today.

Aiyota was a nation that once went through an industrial boom, followed by a great depression (coupled with an isolation, it was even worse than a normal depression). A war pursued and neither side one. It is now going through an Economic Boom with vertical farming, the mass production of food and a large manufacturing center located in the Azdrai Isivalzi (Economic crescent).

The nation is based on scandinavian socio-capitalism mixed with swiss neutrality. The country has a Japan-like influence on universalis (home planet)

In rural areas, it is considered bad luck if your broom breaks on Sunday. The legend states if this happens, it means your house has been marked by pagans, and you will be sacrificed on the next full moon. As such, in rural areas, household cleaning is often avoided on Sundays.
