Many thanks go to Wight for providing the Lonely Multiverse header for this guide.

Introduction

The Pony Republic of Equestrian States is a diverse country inhabited by several dozen sapient species, each contributing to the nation's proud culture of tolerance and giving the Equestrian States a reputation of compassion and kindness. Tradition and innovation have combined well in this North Pony Lands nation, rapidly bringing it into the modern world after centuries of self-imposed isolation from the rest of the multiverse. This Lonely Multiverse travel guide is designed to be the ultimate companion for any tourist (regardless of his/her species) visiting the Equestrian States, and is loaded with every tip and bit of advice one needs to have an safe and enjoyable stay.

History

Originally colonized by sapient equines (commonly referred to as ponies) from Magical Equestria over 2000 years ago, the Equestrian States was first established as a largely-autonomous overseas territory of its motherland. As a colony, the Equestrian States was fairly prosperous, developing a matriarchal society similar to that of Magical Equestria and other prominent Pony Lands nations. Several decades after the first ponies set hoof on the islands now part of the Equestrian States, however, the rise of a mysterious and chaotic entity known as Discord led to the government of the growing colony to adopt strict isolationist policies to avoid attracting the attention of Discord.

Several centuries later, the anarchic reign of Discord in the Pony Lands came to an end, though the Equestrian States remained firmly entrenched in its isolationist policies. Having formally declared its independence from Magical Equestria during the rule of Discord, the Equestrian States was reluctant to turn away from the policies which had allowed it to escape the turmoil faced by the rest of the region. Yet another cataclysmic event, just over a millennia ago, saw the known world embroiled in conflict with itself and the fledgling former colony sunk deeper into isolation for the next several centuries.

However, about 200 years ago, the long-standing policies separating the Equestrian States from the rest of the region gradually began to erode with the rapid growth of international maritime trade. Though it would take until just 50 years ago for the remaining isolationist policies to be overturned or made obsolete, foreigners began to take note of the Equestrian States and its northern location in the Pony Lands. What finally drove the ponies of the Equestrian States to abandon isolationism entirely was commerce, with the nation's location being perfect as a refueling and stopping point for ships traveling from outside the Pony Lands.

Active membership in the Coalition of Ponyist States (a military, economic, and political alliance famed for its quick, efficient, and merciless dealings with nations actively persecuting sapient equines and other non-humans) gave the Equestrian States reason to become heavily involved in international politics and trade. Within a decade, the Equestrians entered the modern era, utilizing magic in creative ways to avoid industrial pollution wherever possible and speed the nation's development.

Today, the Equestrian States is an advanced country that has successfully merged tradition, magic, and technology. With an economy dominated by tourism, agriculture, and the mining of precious minerals, the Equestrians have found their niche in the international community. Thanks to its location in the Pony Lands, the Equestrian States has become a travel hub for many visiting the region from around the world, and the nation is easily among the more prosperous and safe for foreigners to visit.

Geography & Climate

The Equestrian States is best described as an island nation. However, most Equestrians live on the largest island, which is referred to by locals as the mainland, due to its size and role as a population and commercial center for the country.

The mainland is mostly flat grassland and plains, though forests and hilly areas exist and are generally scattered throughout the island. Running north to south are the Harmony Mountains, named for Mt. Harmony near the capital city of Canterlot. The mountain range divides the mainland into eastern and western geographic regions, and was once home to dozens of active volcanoes. However, no eruption has occurred in the Harmony Mountains in over 800 years, and the range is believed to be inactive. The ancient volcanic activity on the mainland (and on many of the Equestrian States' smaller islands, as well) resulted in mineral deposits from which Equestrian miners have extracted gold, silver, and other valuable materials for export.

Two notable exceptions to the mainland's grassy majority are the Everfree Forest and Southern Desert. The Everfree Forest is more of a jungle than a temperate forest, and is widely considered the most dangerous region in the Equestrian States due to its large numbers of wild carnivorous species, some of which would be considered "mythical" by foreigners. Within the Everfree Forest is the city of Everfree, located along the banks of the Stampede River and home to the largest population of non-equines in the nation. A number of more typical temperate forests surround the Everfree Forest itself.

The Southern Desert is (as one might expect) a dry region located in a small pocket of flat land surrounded by the Harmony Mountains near the southern coast. The only major population center in the Southern Desert is the small city of Appleoosa, located in what could be considered by some as a cooler oasis.

But where things begin to get weird for the average tourist is the Equestrian States' weather. Due to the magical nature of many of its inhabitants, the Equestrians are fully capable of creating, manipulating, and otherwise controlling the clouds and weather. This gives them the ability to determine where and when in rains, snows, hails, or any other . The Equestrian government is very actively involved in coordinating the pegasai of the country to generate and control weather patterns favorable to the Equestrian States inhabitants (and its many farmers, in particular). As such, the odds of an Equestrian weatherpony giving an incorrect forecast are almost nonexistent, unless you happen to be in the Everfree Forest (the only region of the Equestrian States where the weather is practically impossible to control due to a prevalence of wild magic).

Travel

Travelling to the Equestrian States is generally easy, as most methods of interregional travel are available to visitors from outside the Pony Lands. Most international flights to the Equestrian States arrive at Canterlot's Harmony International Airport, but other regularly-used airports such as Manehattan's Royal International and Stalliongrad's Friendship Heights International are easy to find flights to. However, it should be noted that pilots flying to and from the Equestrian States internationally must receive additional certification due to the nature of the Equestrian States and much of the Pony Lands. Because of this additional requirement for pilots, some airlines do charge extra to cover the training fees.

Another common way of reaching the States is via sea. Manehattan's seaport is among the most active in the North Pony Lands, and isn't located far from the heart of the Equestrian States' largest city.

Once in the Equestrian States, there are many other options for travel. Rental cars, taxis, and busses are easy to find in the larger cities such as Manehattan, Stalliongrad, and Everfree, though one might notice that most vehicles are electric-powered. But while cars and busses are regularly used in some cities, there are also several in which their use is limited to emergency services (most notably in Ponyville and Canterlot's Old City district) or is totally banned (as is the case in Cloudsdale).

However, the limited use of automobiles is balanced out by the proliferation of trains for travel between and within cities. Some of the more prominent and historical lines (such as the Ponyville-Canterlot Express) still use steam-powered engines or high-speed trains designed to mimic the classical appearance of an Equestrian train. Subways are also a common feature in Equestrian cities, spreading underground to connect many places of interest for foreign tourists. Cloudsdale is the only city where cars, buses, and trains/subways are unavailable.

But in the end, the most common method of travel in the Equestrian States is one's own two feet (or whatever you have to walk on). Few Equestrians drive or use public transportation unless they have to, preferring to take in the clean air on their way from place-to-place.

Culture & Society

Religion

Any analysis of Equestrian culture and society must begin with its majority religion and guiding philosophy: Harmonism. A dualistic religion, it revolves around the physical sun and moon deities, Celestia and Luna, as well as the six principles known as the Elements of Harmony. The religion's origins are near-impossible to determination, though it is widely believed to begun shortly after ponykind first encountered Celestia and Luna over two millennia ago. Unlike other religions, Harmonism lacks a written scripture or centralized multiversal organization to create such writings, occasionally resulting in disagreements between Harmonists from different regions. For the sake of brevity, we will only be exploring the most common spiritual and secular beliefs held by those from the Equestrian States.

As stated earlier, the central beliefs of Harmonism include the worship of the Regal Sisters (Celestia and Luna) and adherence to the Elements of Harmony. Celestia and Luna are the two Princess rulers of distant Magical Equestria, though Luna has (in recent years) begun to spend considerable time aiding the C'tan in preserving peace throughout the Pony Lands. Immortal and, according to spiritual Harmonists, capable of moving celestial bodies through magic, the two Regal Sisters are worshiped (or at least respected) by ponies throughout the multiverse as living goddesses. Some have recently begun to question the actual power of the Sisters, though it is widely accepted among ponykind that they are the two most powerful magical beings in existence.

The six Elements of Harmony are Honesty, Laughter, Kindness, Generosity, Loyalty, and Magic. These Elements exist both as philosophical concepts as well as physical objects capable of great power that contain the purest magical essence of the aforementioned virtues. The philosophical aspects of the Elements are more central to Harmonist faith as a set of morals to guide one throughout life. They are, for the most part, fairly self-explanatory, except for Magic. The sixth element has been connected not only to the ability of equine Harmonists to use magical spells, but also to the drive for new knowledge or understanding. It also has been connected to the power of friendship, and is mentioned in the most common Harmonist saying: "Friendship is Magic".

However, Harmonism has expanded from its spiritual roots (particularly as more non-equines are exposed to harmonist teachings) to become a secular philosophy as well. Secular Harmonists generally try to follow the virtues of Harmonism, though they generally do not believe that the Regal Sisters are physical goddesses. The expansion of Secular Harmonism has also led to the traditional virtues being adopted and woven into other religions as well, such as Christianity. Excluding the overwhelmingly Spiritual Harmonist equine population of the Equestrian States, the most common religion is Harmonist Christianity, which is especially popular among the human inhabitants of the nation.

Language

Traditionally, ponies have spoken in their native Equestrian tongue which is common throughout the Pony Lands. However, since the emergence of the Equestrian States into the international community, laws have been passed requiring citizens to be capable of speaking multiple languages. The most common non-Equestrian language is easily English, which is spoken by approximately two-thirds of the population. It should be noted that some English words have been altered by Equestrians to better fit the equine majority, as the use of "everypony", "anypony", "hoofball", and other such words are modifications of the more standard English words. Mastery of many different languages is especially common among Unicorns, and as they are generally the ones more involved in business, are easy enough to find for foreign visitors. Numerous translating services exist throughout the Equestrian States, and airport bookstores generally contain a plethora of multilingual dictionaries for purchase.

Food

As one might expect from a nation dominated by a species of herbivores, many traditional Equestrian dishes are vegetarian in nature. The proliferation of such food is also furthered by the general lack of agriculture for the purpose of raising up animals for the slaughter. To hurt another living creature is, to many Equestrians, simply unthinkable. However, the Equestrian States is not only inhabited by equines, but also by griffons, dragons, and humans (among others). Restaurants do exist to cater to these non-equine species, and do serve a wide variety of meats imported from outside of the region. That being said, it would be unwise to be seen in public eating a hamburger made from beef or any other meat product as many Equestrians are disgusted by such foods. This can make finding food difficult in smaller cities and in the nicer areas of the larger ones. A general tip would be: if your waiter looks like a herbivore, don't ask them for a cheeseburger or steak. Equestrian cafes are fairly creative with what they can do with non-meat products, and the bread and pastries are oftentimes better than what you might find in other nations.

Drink in the Equestrian States also differs significantly from other nations around the multiverse, as the most common alcoholic beverage is hard cider, which can be found at virtually every bar, pub, and restaurant. Ponies generally refrain from drinking too heavily, but other non-human sapients such as griffons are known to consume vast quantities of alcohol in a single sitting. We advise our human readers to graciously decline any drinking challenges offered, as one is unlikely to win, and drunk griffons can be notoriously temperamental. Beer is a distant second to cider, in terms of both popularity and availability, though bars and eateries which cater to human tourists will often keep domestic Equestrian brands in stock.

Inter-Species Relations

As the Equestrian States is home to a wide range of species, it is practically impossible for any visitor to the country to avoid seeing a member of another species, regardless of where they might be. Unicorns could pull this off in certain neighborhoods of Canterlot, and Earth Ponies could do the same in isolated rural areas, though foreigners will often stumble across other species upon entry into the Equestrian States as customs officials are perhaps the most diverse Equestrian demographic.

Relations between the three major pony races have not always been smooth, and some tensions still exist today despite the educational system's teaching of acceptance and tolerance. However, inter-species violence is very rare within the Equestrian States, as is violence in general, with the possible exceptions coming from dragons, griffons, and other more naturally-aggressive species. Angering a dragon is about as dumb as it sounds, and is not advised unless one has a death wish.

Visitors to the Equestrian States are also advised to avoid appearing speciesist to locals, as Equestrian society could be described as having a herd mentality, where an attack against or insult towards one person might be considered an attack on all those around that person. Thus, some words to avoid using in the Equestrian States are: horse, mule, foal, or donkey. Calling a pony any of those terms is likely to result in a backlash towards the offending individual, as they are considered to be offensive unless one is actually speaking to a sapient horse or donkey, which are both easy to tell apart from ponies through their size and general lack of bright-colored fur or manes.

KEEPERS
listed in order of likeliness to start

McNEAL, Henry - #1 - 29 (FC Chippenham - The Sarian)

An ex-star goalie on the U-21 squad that placed in the round of sixteen in their first Di Bradini Cup. McNeal allowed seven goals in five games to teams that were probably better, which is pretty good. McNeal has grown into one of the world's best keepers, giving up just over a goal a game at the qualifiers last time around and holding the Vaporeons of the Northern Sunrise Islands to a single goal in a 2-1 group stage victory. However, recently he's been far worse, and this inconsistency may doom him.

FINCH, Jared A. - #3 - 24

Lauded as the next McNeal, Finch is a little injury-prone, the coaching staff will go to great lengths to ensure he never steps foot on the field, mostly because they don't want to risk injuries. He's the best in Llamaland at blocking penalties though, so if they somehow get to penalty kicks, you'll probably see Finch.

MIKALAY, Nick - #2 - 27

Solid and consistent, doesn't make plays on the fabulous but never gets injured and makes many saves. Good tactically but average athletically, shouldn't be on the pitch too much unless McNeal and Finch are both injured.

DEFENDERS

REAGAN, Ryan - #9 - 30 - Sweeper/Center Back (Image Sabrefell Athletic)

Dominant U-21 player graduated early to the B-team. A jack of all trades who could be one of the fastest players in the world, especially now that he's in his prime. His mobility and ball-stopping makes him a versatile sweeper and center-back, and he is arguably one of the most underrated guys on this squad.

VALDEVIC, Jordan - #19 - 24 - Left Back/Center Back/Defensive Midfielder

(Image Tamabad Strikers)
Attacking defender has the endurance to play like a defensive halfback and still come out fine. He struggled during qualifying against great opposition, but he can be a key part of the offense and defense when he's good. The next Alejandro Mujica? Maybe if we're lucky.

AGUDIERES, Javier - #8 - 25 - Center Back

Fantastic coverage, seems to anticipate passes at will and get there, not the best stamina, fair tackler, specializes on getting the ball and giving it a good kick to midfield. A great guy to have on defense.

NELSON, Derrick - #5 - 29 - Right Back (CAPTAIN) (The Royal Kingdom of Quebec -Montreal Koreana)

Defensive linchpin, vocal leader, ex-captain of U-21 team, could've easily made it to WC 67 had he not tore an ACL. All-around stud recovered quickly to get back on the U-21 team for "recovery", conveniently leading defensive to the Ro16 in the process. Not the best attacker but great at clearing it upfield under pressure, as well as pretty much everything else, especially that leadership of his. A few knee injuries are beginning to slow him down, but he's still a great defender, especially with coverage.
GRAY, Nicholas - #35 - 24 - Any defensive position

A great teammate, started charity before he was old enough to drive, mild Aspergers. On the playing side of things, he's athletic enough for top-notch coverage, although he struggles at clearing it.

APPEL, Curtis - #96 - 26 - Mostly right back

Athletic, decent tackler, but seems to permanently be a step away from consistency. Still hasn't ironed out flaws in his coverage, making him easy to exploit for a top-notch attacker.
(Image Industus)

BALE, Alex - #6 - 21 - left/center back, defensive midfielder

Strong tackle-control-and-clear guy, good ball coverage, decent athleticism, young enough to have a bright future if he can improve his skills. Carded slightly too often but that's just because of his enthusiasm.

MIDFIELDERS

STURGEON, Kyle - #31 - 27 - Left halfback

A laid-back playmaker who can shock with short bursts, tends to stay back and facilitate the attack. Three-sport athlete in high school is rarely injured, is now towards the tail end of his prime. (Jeckland - Nagelti Rovers)

PLAYER, Anthony - #16 - 23 - Center halfback

Do-anything halfback specialized in being the middleman between playmakers and shooters at the Di Bradini Cup and saw scattered appearances at the WCQ. Good leadership, ex-captain of the Royals, but has already reached his ceiling. Jack of all trades. (Jeckland - Colanso FC)

WIGGINS, Jake - #5 - 28 - Right halfback (ASSISTANT CAPTAIN) (Cosumar - Eastweald FC)

Crafty playmaker, shooting not his specialty but he can okay if needed. Great, athletic passer, can move into the box and let loose a header if need be, but tends not to score. Really good at starting attacks, great passer with dynamic vision.

FORD, Alex - #11 - 28 - Attacking midfielder

(Image Carrubonieta II Gueti)
Fantastic shooter, can put a shot on goal from anywhere, crafty with shot placement. Loves attacking, tends to receive passes instead of pass them. Will occasionally sit out if the manager is desiring something more teamwork-y, but he's certainly a great shooter unless he's overconfident, in which case expect a smattering over the crossbar and outside the post.

FORDHAM, Bryan - #22 - 26 - Defensive/center halfback
Good all-around, poor man's version of player, quiet teammate. Not a bad shot but tends to stay back and pass around. Surprisngly good in the back four but just not good enough, but he's a versatile asset to have when you want to space the field.

DICKINSON, Tobias - #30 - 25 - Center/attacking midfielder
Great playmaker in the front third, can pass around brilliantly and good at keeping control. Not a bad shooter but tends to hang too far in front to be an effective center midfielder.

GUZMAN, Carlos - #19 - 27 - Right halfback/winger
Pretty short, but with top-flight agility and great accuracy with his shots. Great at chipping it and could take a few corners, however, terrible at defense and tends to be a little sloppy dribbling.

STRIKERS

CARTWRIGHT, Alex - #10 - 25 (The Royal Kingdom of Quebec - Kingston FC)

The Next Trevor Duncan, although a hyped-up Jared Mullin could be a better comparison. Venomous attacker shattered records by making U-15 team at 11, U-21 team at 15 ,and B-team at 17. Brilliant in the box and powerful, although not the most accurate, from long range. Solidified his star status with a flurry of goals in the qualifiers, including a hat trick against Costa de Ouro, to finish with eleven goals, before moving from the midfield to the attack.

MASTERS, Peter - #21 - 26

Attacker, shoot-first striker, introverted, willful, and passionate. Great speed but passing is not in his makeup. (Image 1830 Cathair)

FERGUSON, Aidan - #18 - 23

A good playmaker with a surgeon's touch. Fairly athletic and will see some time as a starter.

POWELL, Eden - #14 - 28

Brilliant with the finish, top-notch with penalty kicks. He's a better passer as well, and provides leadership in the box. Can score with any part of his body, but not the best beyond the penalty box. Great tactically if not athletically. (Image Inter Binar)

INJURY RESERVE

BENNETT, Lucas - 23 - GK
MYERS-BRIGGS, Sagan - 21 - DF
PETERS, Paul - 28 - DF
ALLEN, Hadrian - 27 - DF
CANAMIC, Lou - 29 - MF
MONTGOMERY, Karl - 21 - MF
MARQUEZ, Jefferson - 29 - MF (Image Honneur)
McKENZIE, Michael - 24 - ST (Image Deline Athletic)
RAYMOND, Angel - 26 - ST (Image Sieberg)

MANAGER

Bogdan Antonescu - A banteng cow straight out of Furellum, where he's coached every national team squad but the current one along with the successful U-15 team. Also, he's a cow and definitely not Llamanean, which is irking many a sportswriter. Tactically flexible, he's tweaked the Llamanean 4-4-2 diamond to a 1-3-4-2 to strengthen it but isn't going to change it unless it stops working.

(OOC: reletivly unchanged form BOF, only new & relevent info has been included)

Name (Age in years) (height #'#”/#cm) (Current Club) (normal position based off of a 4-5-1 formation, or the proffered position in the case of backup players)
Goalkeepers
Ivan Russev (26 yo.) (7'5"/226.06cm) (Balkien City F.C.) (8 caps)
Backup
Franc Ferdinand (31 yo.) (6'2"/187.96cm) (Aryiassia Federal) (2 caps)
Ibrahim Preobrazhensky (27 yo.) (5'10,25"178.435cm) (Parish) (Newcomer)
After a good showing at the BOF Training Camp, Ibrahim was not selected due to a personal matter, said issue has been solved and Ibrahim looks to represent his county on an international level.
Defenders (from left to right on the field)
Kane Mabel (30 yo.) (5'9.75"/177.165cm) (New Port) (Left Back) (8 caps)
Coco Beeweare (27 yo.) (6'7"/200.66cm) (Golden Islands Club) (Centre Back) (7 caps)
Coco will be benched for the opening two games due to reckless behavior behind the wheel that was deemed “Non Criminal” by Wolfenia authorities. He will be replaced by Matej Seimien for those games.
Ntom Croás (36 yo.) (6'4.5"/194.31) (F.C. Qwen) (Centre Back) (8 caps)
Niko Aksentijević (29 yo.) (5'12.5"/184.15cm) (F.C. Qwen) (Left Back) (6 caps)

Anton Topalov (38 yo.) (6'/182.88cm) (Centre Midfielder) (Aryiassia Federal) (8 caps)
Zoran Varga (34 yo.) (5'7.5"/171.45) (Centre Midfielder) (New Port) (8 caps) (2 goals)
Stephan Luca (28 yo.) (6'3"/190.5cm) (Aryiassia Federal) (Right Midfielder slot) (2 caps) (1 Goal)
Backups
Azer Emin (21 yo.) (5'6"/167.64cm) (Parish) (Centre Midfielder)(Newcomer)
Weather it was by coincidence of by choice Azer Emin plays for the same club that the player he is replacing last played for before retirement, Emin's role as successor in both a Domestic and International level, has put pressure on the young man, but he is a backup so the likley hood of a large amount of play at this stage is low.
Alexander Buzov (25 yo.) (6'0.5"/184.15cm) (Talčta County United) (Newcomer)
Sofia Mascuan (28 yo.) (5'10.25"/178.435cm) (Industry Town F.C.) (Left/Right Fielder) (2 caps)
Shripati Pratap Shrinivas Rajiv Khali (26 yo.) (6'2.75"/189.865cm) (Golden Islands Club) (Centre midfielder) (2 caps)
Forwards
Monten Serb (29 yo.) (6'7"/200.66cm) (Striker) (Blakę City F.C.) (6 caps) (1 goal)
Backup
Miloš Gudeij (24 yo.) (5'7"/170.18cm) (Aryiassia Riverside) (3 caps) (2 Goals)
Romi Kredeinko (21 yo.) (6'/182.88cm) (New Port) (Newcomer)
Since his pro debut Kredeinko has been a sleeper, perhaps we'll see if he is a giant or a sloth in the runner cup, in any case he won't cause trouble off the field.

Formation
If it's still not working use this link to see it: http://lineupbuilder.com/2014/custom/?sk=3b2h. If that doesn't work, The exact positions are have a Striker at the Penalty Arc, a midfielder at the left and right slightly in opposing territory, three midfilders in the center forming a line, and four defenders at the back)

General Strategy
The Wolfenian national team will be using a 4-5-1 formation. The use of the 4-5-1 formation will attempt to prevent the opposition from being able to clear the midfield and if the opponents offense is able to, then they will have to work hard for it. The 4-5-1 formation also lead to an interesting roster that was not predicted by many.

Because of the defensive mindedness of the position and the fact the there is only one forward, the Wolfenian National Football Team Selection Committee looked to find midfield players who were experienced or had a good balance between defense and offense. The Left and right midfielders become winger on offense.

The back defense also prioritizes a balance of speedy players and skilled players so that long rallies can be undone efficiently. The Wolfenian Sports officials spared no expense to shape this team, and the nation holds confidence in a strong performance.

I give my opponent permission to:
Chose my Goalscorers: Y
Godmod scoring events: Y/N (yes to reasonable things like a defender underestimating a backup, no to things like one injury causing goals to start piling up)
Injure players: Y (But I chose how long somebody's injured)
Godmod injuries: Y (Still chose how long there out)
Red Cards: N
Yellow Cards: Y(ish) (One per game plus one from you)
Godmod other events: Y (Ask if your planning anything)
Style mod: -2

Coaching Staff

Yúan Genshí
Age: 35
Yúan is an ex-footballer for the Xíanshí Ganbatte, a now delegated club in the Kandorese Golden League, with a good goal scoring record as former mid fielder and experience as team captain. He took up the coaching opportunity after Xíanjí Hatema and his team crashed out of the World Cup and the Cup of Harmony, if Yúan can replace the most successful Kandorese coach in history remains to be seen, but confidence is again at an all time high.

Huangzhou Yu
Age: 29
From Xiangzhou Sapphire's field, the assistant coach looks promising according to the critics and was the assistant of Xíangjí Hatema. He started his career as coach with a local team and fought his way up to the major domestic league of Kandorith. He has shown to be calm and understanding. Now he makes a return in the coaching staff of the Dragons, as the assistant coach to Yúan Genshí, who spoke utterly confident about Huangzhou's abilities.

Starting XI

Defence

Goalkeeper

Wú Shinsen
Age: 22
Length: 192CM
Wú is the current goal keeper of Xiangzhou Frontale, with a flawless record in the domestic league. although slightly shorter than his predecessor, his agility and stamina exceeds Huajian by far. He is one of the few new players to be introduced to the perfect squad of the last World Cup, as coach Yúan believes he is the perfect goalie for this World Cup and future ones.

Defence

Xian Ximen
Age: 22
Length: 185CM
Xian is a cold blooded defender of Gamba Hujiajing, a true old school styled defender. Always trying to get his tackles perfectly timed, and never taking his eyes off the ball. His other noteworthy abilities are his free kicks and headers, which he excels at by far.

Jin Zexi
Age: 25
Length: 178CM
Known for his quick tackles and saving headers; this agile defender is a tough one to run away from. He only has one goal: regaining possession and passing the ball around as quick as possible.

Mitsuharu Eri
Age: 23
Length: 176CM
Mitsuharu, a true defender. He is the man for the pass and the crosses, the tactical link between and in-between the midfield. He is a great supportive player and a quick runner, with an eye for quick passes or crosses trough the midfield.

Midfield

Miraki Nakamura
Age: 22
Length: 190CM
Miraki Nakamura, the "star" defender of Xianghzou Sapphires. With his length, sturdiness and great heading abilities he is sure to give strikers who are receiving the ball or are trying to make a run for it a hard time. Even though he is quite sturdy; Miraki does not lack in speed at all, being an agile and fast player.

JieJie
Age: 25
Length: 177CM
Passer, runner and assists; JieJie, another star from Nagato Goya. He has made his debute 3 years ago and has shown many coaches he is the man for the midfield passing and chance creating. With tactical insight and almost unmatchable running speed he is the winger and the attacking midfielder.

Taiji Moto
Age: 26
Length: 181CM
The Captain, El Commandante, and the elder; Taiji Moto the captain of the Kandorese National Team and the Captain of Nagato Goya. Experienced, ferocious and quick. He plays mostly defensive but when he sees a goal scoring opportunity or the chance for an assist he won't hold back. He is one of the links of the chain,to keep that ball passing and keep possession, while steering the team towards a goal.

Ximin Chosi Kansuo Je-Han
Age: 22
Length: 177CM
Ximin, an ambitious young player from Yingshua Sabers, one of the lesser known teams of the Kandorese Imperial League; but equally dangerous as the bigger names, mostly because of this player. He is an excellent runner, passer and crosser; always looking for a hole in the defence to press the ball towards the striker, he does not often score; but when he does, it's a ranged effort with extreme finesse.

Atasuki Eguchi
Age: 24
Length: 177CM
The true winger of the team, always scanning the sideline; waiting for that pass to push it forward and create a goal chance. He is a fast and agile runner with great crossing ability. His most notable love of the game, is giving defenders a hard time by running and crossing when they least expect it.

Strikers

Iichi Fuji
Age: 23
Length: 182CM
The "support" striker. Iichi is the main assist and header in front of goal; his headers are precise, fast and dangerous; just like this man when he has the ball in front of goal. He does not aim for the goal, he is the main passer when the 6 yard box gets hot. A real dribbler and trick passer, leaving the scoring to his fellow strikers or attacking midfielder. According to Yúan he is irreplaceable on the midfield and will play the most important role in the attack too.

Méng Zeijí
Age: 21
Length: 181CM
The current star of Kandorese football. This youngster has made his name as goal cannon, never passing the oppertunity to score and when he does see the chance; the ball flies in like a guided projectile. Also agile and a real dribbler, he loves to run circles around the defence and rocket the ball into a tight corner. Méng is accurate, calm and controlled, which made him the current top scorer of the Kandorese league.

Capacity: 120,000

Originally designed as a multi-purpose Olympic stadium, it was bought by the management of the Nagato Goya soccer team. After a billion Qúan project the stadium was fully renovated and issued as the largest football stadium within Kandorith, still in use by both Nagato Goya and the Kandorese National team.

Timbermunich Soccer Squad
Hardwoods

Background
The Lumberjacks or Jacks, as they are often called, that make up the Hardwoods’ roster are a brawny bunch plucked from the limbs of Great TimberOaks which stand deep within the Great Timbermunich Forest. These Great TimberOaks are massive trees that make up the central portion of the Great Timbermunich Forest, the trees stand at nearly 424 meters tall with trunks that can reach upwards of 32 meters in diameter. It is said that these Lumberjacks once selected spend their entire life within the Great Timbermunich Forest. To be a Jack in Timbermunich is a great honor and they are now selected by The Great Battle Axe while still in utero. They are tasked with guarding the Great Timbermunich Forest from all harm (natural or otherwise) starting at their birth and continuing to their death, that is if they actually do die as no one has ever witnessed a Jacks death nor has a Jacks body ever been discovered void of life they seem to vanish from existence once they reach an estimated 250 years of forest protection. It is also said that each of the Great TimberOaks has a single Jack to watch along with the shared duty over the rest of the Great Timbermunich Forest. If true this would mean that there are approximately 450 thousand Jacks, there are also nearly 100000 trees (multiple genomes) per living Timbermunichers (everyday folks: 50 million) so there are a great number of trees to watch over. You may be asking what this has to do with a soccer team, well you see the Jacks get a small senescence in which they are able to leave the Great Timbermunich Forest and they choose to play sports during this abscission time. Much of the lore around the Jacks seems to indicate this is their final farewell before vanishing from the forest. It is unknown if a Jack gets more than one senescence or not, we have seen some Jacks on more than one cycles roster, but since the legends are not written down we don’t know if this is due to the length of ones senescence or if they have more than one. They do seem to stick with the more strength and power sporting events, which we attribute to their physical stature and strength. After all they spend their entire life wielding one or sometimes two Double Bit Great Felling Axe, an axe that no normal human can lift. This doesn’t mean we don’t see them in finesse sports; it’s just more common for them to choose physical sports more during their senescence.

Player Profiles
Goal Keepers
Great Hatchet Hank
– Club Team –
None
- Position -
Goal Keeper
Hank attributes much of his success to the training he has gone through as a Great as well as his exceptional hand eye coordination. He also has excellent reflexes and is seen more as a reactive goalie and is somewhere between a Traditional and Acrobatic style keeper. Hank is good both on the ground and in the air as he has great diving speed and distance. The only draw back he has is on 1v1 situations, as he tends to stay on his line and not challenge or cut-off the incoming angle very well. He has been working with the coaching staff to improve that area, but is still somewhat of a struggle. Many of the players thought he would make a good captain because he is very vocal and is a great leader both on and off the field. However he was not selected for that task by the coaching staff and he fully accepts whatever role they want him to fulfill.

Great One-Eye Wallice
– Club Team –
None
- Position -
Goal Keeper
Wallice as apposed to Wallace, pronounced like Wall-ICE, is the youngest son of Great One-Arm Willy and is considered second in line for the starting keeper position to Great Hatchet Hank. He is an all out acrobatic keeper and because of this his handling ability seems to elude him at times and he simply punches the ball away. That’s not to say he can’t or doesn’t catch the ball, but rather he is more apt to dive at anything coming his way even if it is directly at him. His goal coverage is great too; with his quick feet and excellent vision (even with only one eye) he is able to cut off angles before a chance is presented to the opposition. Sometimes he is a bit to ambitious and will come off his line becoming a sweeper keeper, which can get him into trouble.

Great Mortimer
– Club Team –
None
- Position -
Goal Keeper
he is more traditional with great hands and field vision. But he tends to have poor positioning at times and can get caught out of place on occasion. His on field commanding voice can be heard by anyone, which is a great asset for him to have. He is a good leader and is liked by everyone on the team. But because of his bad positioning he is not on par with either Wallice or Hank.

Starting Defenders
Great Norman
– Club Team –
None
– Position –
Right Back
Great Norman is a very physical back who has excellent speed and is rarely beat in a foot race. He is good in the air but could use some improvement in that area as well. Norman has exceptional one on one skill and because of his speed is a great back that is hard to get past. He is very uncomfortable when pressured into the middle of the field and prefers to stay out wide to cover any possible crossing situation. Overall he is an acceptable back with some room to improve.

Great Battle
– Club Team –
Image Crew of Gypsum SC – Image HopNation
– Position –
Center Back
Great Battle is the core of the four backs and keeps them well organized. He is great in the air, has good 1v1 skill, and superb field awareness. His only real downfall as a center back is his speed, sure he is quick footed and skilled on the ball but his overall pace seems to struggle at times. Thankfully he has a couple other backs next to him that are extremely fast and if he does happen to get beat they are there to quickly step in and recover for him. With his communication and field awareness Great Battle gets his defensive unit in good positions to help limit the amount of opportunities that the opponents might have. He is also the best passer out of the four starting backs, because of this he is often a focal point to start the forward progress of their attack.

Great Felling Axe
– Club Team –
None
– Position –
Center Back
Felling is a good back and compliments Great Battle in the center very well. He is not as good in the air as most center backs but makes up for it with his excellent positioning and field awareness. He is never found out of position and has the most blocks on the team because of it. The other aspect of his game that is really good is his communication, probably just a bit better than Great Battle’s. He along with Great Battle organizes the teams defensive efforts and keep everyone in check. If he were to improve his aerial ability and perhaps his passing just a bit he may even be a better center back than Great Battle is.

Great Tomahawk Tommy
– Club Team –
None
– Position –
Left Back
Tommy is a nice left back but he tends to slide too much. He is also very fast, has good passing, and good 1v1 body positioning so with that combination of skills he is rather hard to beat. He does however have a little trouble staying where he is supposed to and the other backs are constantly yelling at him to get into position. His aerial play is also very good and is often the first player to touch the ball on corner kicks. He is not afraid to get in the way of a shot or pass and is often the leader when it comes to setting up walls on free kicks. He is very coachable and his teammates find his dry humor somewhat funny, so he is a good player to have around when the mood needs lightened.

Starting Midfielders
Great Dead-Eye Darrin
– Club Team –
Image Zorg FC Phynix – Image HopNation
– Position –
Right Midfielder
Darrin plays at the right mid position and is equal in his attacking and defending responsibilities. He is a great all around player with exceptional endurance and passing accuracy. He is often the player that can pick out and precisely pass the ball to an open teammate half way across the field and land the ball directly in the stride of that player. Because of this his coaches have him take all corner kicks no matter which side of the field they are on as well as any longer ranged free kick, the ones that aren’t within range for a direct shot. The one area of his game that isn’t superb is his shooting, which you would think with how precise his passing is he would be a good shooter. But that is not the case as he tends to overpower his shots causing his accuracy to decrease greatly.

Great Wicked Warren
– Club Team –
56ers – Image Schovenia
– Position –
Center Midfielder
Great Wicked Warren is the pinnacle of the team and is a true commander of the field. The teams’ captain is also one of the first people to join a team outside of Timbermunich, this was due in part to his exceptional play and desire to get better. He is great on the ball and is rarely dispossessed easily maintaining possession in challenging situations. He has good field vision, great stamina and fitness, as well as a shot no keeper wants to be in front of when it is on it’s mark. His leadership on and off the field is second to none and is a great student of the game as he is constantly looking for ways to improve himself and his teams. The coaching staff would love to have 11 players on the field just like Warren and all of them enjoy his coach ability and his lighthearted joking that keeps the team grounded.

Great Dirty Doug
– Club Team –
None
– Position –
Left Midfielder
Doug is the teams left midfielder and he does an excellent job fulfilling that roll. He has boundless energy and never seems to tire when on the field. He is a precision passer and can hit almost any target at any time. However his ball control skills still need some work as his first touch often leads him into trouble, so he tries to pass the ball using that first touch rather than controlling it and then doing something with it. His teammates enjoy having him around as he pushes them at training sessions to be better than they are and he is often found well after training has ended working on his touch so he can get better.

Starting Forwards
Great Dagger Dan
– Club Team –
None
- Position –
Right Wing
Dan is a great positional player, rarely ever found out of position and he is exceptionally fast. His speed sometimes gets him into trouble as even when he times his runs officials will still flag him as offside because they can’t imagine someone creating that much space behind a defender without being offside. His Coaches know this is of a concern and often will show officials prior game footage so they are aware of his speed and hopefully not mistake a great run with a true offside call. Dan is also very good in the air and is often a primary target on corner kicks. However he does have one drawback in that he is solely right footed, to the point that he will go out of his way to circle the ball to avoid his left. This can make him an easier mark as defenders learn quickly that he is going to his right, every time. He is working on the left foot but we think it will be a great deal of time before he gets any better with it, his coaches have even restricted him to left only practices in hopes it gets better sooner rather than later.

Great One-Arm Willy
– Club Team –
None
– Position –
Center Forward
Great One-Arm Willy is an excellent striker and has pin point accuracy with his shooting. In order to challenge him and make him a better shooter than he already is the coaches often hang small one inch twigs from the cross bar at different heights and locations around the goal and challenge him to hit them, which he does every time. Because of this he is one of the teams free kick takers and a key target when the team is in the attacking third. The one aspect of his game that suffers is his stamina, he has been working on it but he is often the first to need a substitute in those games that he is required to run a lot in. Another good thing to his game is that he plays up top with one of his sons, which the two almost seem to know what the other is going to do before it ever happens. Willy is one of the best forward the team has.

Great Kyle Slater
– Club Team –
None
- Position –
Left Wing
The left wing for Timbermunich is Great Kyle Slater and he is a decent player, but does need to improved in a few areas before he will be considered one of Timbermunich’s great players. He is very good on the ball and can dribble at pace with ease, but his dribbling skill is about where is abilities end. Unfortunately there isn’t anyone to fill his spot that is better so the team is kind of stuck with him on the left. His passing is something that, well, sucks to say the least as he will often miss his target when it is only five yards away. The coaches are desperately trying to fix this and work one on one with him, setting up cones at three yards for him to pass between or try and hit with the ball. His field positioning is okay but he tends to hold back and stay more in the central portion of the left side rather than pushing forward with the other two forwards. The other part of his game that is bad is his heading, he will actually duck away from a ball when he could easily use his head to knock it into the goal and he is often whistled for high kicking because he just refuses to use his head. Hopefully the team can find a replacement for him soon or all the individual training he gets will start to pay off.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
*Choose my goalscorers
*Godmod scoring events
*Issue yellow cards
*Issue red cards
*RP Injuries
*Godmod otherevents

Laubholz-StadionGreat Timbermunich Forest, Timbermunich | Cap: 86,000
Laubholz-Stadion is located south of the Heart of the Grove and just to the north of TimberOak Grove. TimberOak Grove is the capital of the northern region of Timbermunich which the region is called Great Timbermunich Forest. It is close enough that the Heart of the Groves outer rim can be seen, but note that no one other than the Greats can enter the Heart of the Grove. Due to it’s pulsating power shift, the very essence of all life throughout Timbermunich, any none Great that dares to enter the Heart of the Grove is instantly divulged of all fleshy matter and left as just a frozen skeleton at that point in which they chose to enter. So be warned that any travelers to Timbermunich will be closely watched when near Laubholz-Stadion so that they are not harmed by their own curiosity. Timbermunich is also not responsible for anyone that does not heed this warning and dares to test their fate by going near the Heart of the Grove.

The Official Darvalian Roster for the Runner Cup III
Presented to you by the...

Image

Background

After six members of the national team were killed during the World Cup 69 Qualifiers, the Darvalian Football Association (DFA) will not be sending the regular national team, but, instead, a team comprising of amateur players not playing in clubs. However, the members of this team will be coached and managed by the regular staff of the Darvalian national team, and the players have had previous experience in football, although not on a professional level. Also, due to the fact that the World Cup 69 Qualifiers killings of the six members of national team (that entirely comprised of the female part of the Darvalian national team) appeared to be a terrorist act of sexism, the players chosen to represent Darvale in the Runner Cup III are all male. So, without further delays, here are the men looking to lead Darvale to its first ever silverware.

Staff, Formation & Other Team Information

Image
Playing in a rather uncommon 4 - 2 - 4 formation, this backup Darvalian national team will heavily rely upon Willis Finchley and David Rowe, the two central midfielders, to both attack and defend aptly. This team has an exceptionally strong offensive strength, with the two wingers, Ryan Keane and Spencer Campbell, providing more passes than goals although they both do score occasionally. But it is Roman Saxsmith and Brett Cole, the two central-strikers of the team, who do the most scoring, mainly feeding on passes from Keane and Campbell, and a few from Finchley and Rowe. The defense is extremely rigid, almost never moving too far out into the pitch, preferring to guard the box, as to effectively block any sudden counter-attacks that get past Finchley and Rowe.

Manager - Hugo Simmons
Head Coach - Dennis Carter
Formation - 4 - 2 - 4
Style Modifier - +4
Captain - David Rowe
Vice-Captain - James Berkely
Third Captain - Ryan Keane
Free Kick Taker - Spencer Campbell
Penalty Kick Taker - Brett Cole

Commander's Stadium, Arlnet (80,000) The Stadium of power, settled right near the Mangolana Navy yard, the Commander's Stadium was built as a dedication to Mangolana's military, but specifically, her powerful navy. The stadium originally sat 63,000, but was expanded to 80,000 with Arlnets new stadium sharing deal with fellow Premier league side Soccoroo, who recently signed a 20 year lease with the stadium and the city of Arlnet . The stadium was built by both the city of Arlnet and the Alrnet Soccer Club. The city of Arlnet is also known for its great beaches and its family style environment. Downtown Arlnet, is also not designed like a big downtown, with many of the original Arlnet Businesses still inhabiting the stores they opened with when the city became first incorporated. Though the club Arlnet was relegated and finished last in the Premier League this season, more than half of their matches and all of Soccoroo's matches were sell-out, which shows the love and passion for the sport in the area.

ATTEMPT NUMBER TWO
The Goats return to The Runner Cup after being eliminated in the group stages of the last edition
Article by Ramon Goldstein | Sports Category | Posted 27/8/2014 at 2:43 pm

Image

Fairbanks, DARVALE - And after crashing out in the group stages of its last edition, the Goats are going to try to achieve glory in the Runner Cup, now in its third edition. What's different about the goats? None of the players are the same. That's right. You heard me. No Lyndon Holmes guarding the goals, no Philip Downing or Darrell Burns hungry for scoring, no Cedric Pearson or Steven Bennett providing assists. No, no, and no. Instead, it is a group of "underrated", as the Darvalian Football Association is calling them, amateur Darvalian football players that will be representing Darvale in the Runner Cup III. Let's take a closer look at the team, and Darvale's group in this tournament.

What we know about the team - Last night, the Darvalian Football Association released the official Darvalian roster, which, of course, was all the more shocking, as no members of the regular national team were on the squad. They're screwed, eh? Maybe not 100%. At least they've got the regular national team staff to guide them. It was announced that Hugo Simmons, manager of the regular national team that recently signed a deal with Paddington Ridge of the Florganian Standard League, will be staying with he Goats during the competition. Regular national team head coach Dennis Carter will also be coaching the team during the cup.

The players, however, have no experience on an international or professional level. The team will be playing in a rather unique 4 - 2 - 4 formation, captained by right central midfielder David Rowe. This team has an exceptionally strong offensive calibre, with Ryan Keane, Spencer Campbell, Roman Saxsmith and Brett Cole comprising of the offense.

The midfield, with only two men, David Rowe and Willis Finchley, will be heavily relied on by both the offense and the defense to both attack and defend. The defense, that comprises of John Evans, Micah Harrington, Anthony Barrett, and James Berkeley, is as solid as an anchor - pretty much never moving out from the box.

Group F
Darvale (37) - Patistan (29) - Semarland (55) - Kandorith (17)

Image Kandorith (17) - Darvale's first opponent in this edition of the Runner Cup, Kandorith, at a rather high Runner Cup ranking of 17, have the highest ranking of Group F. This match is scheduled to be the hardest one for Darvale, especially considering the goats will be playing with amateur players instead of their regular national team. The Goats will be facing Kandorith on August 31st, Matchday 1. The predicted score will be a 2-0 win for Kandorith.

Image Patistan (29) - Patistan, with a Runner Cup Ranking of 29, will be Darvale's second opponent. Second best team in the group, Patistan will prove to be sizable opponents for the Darvalians, but the Goats may have a chance at holding the Patistanis to a draw, although it is very likely the Darvalians will lose to this rather highly ranked side. Darvale will be facing Patistan on September 2nd, Matchday 2. The predicted score is a 2-0 win for Patistan.

Image Semarland (55) - Semarland, with a Runner Cup ranking of 55, is the only nation in Group F to have a lower ranking than Darvale - which has a Runner Cup ranking of 37th. Semarland is also the only nation that Darvale has faced before. In fact, Darvale has faced Semarland twice. Semarland and Darvale were put into the same group during the World Cup 69 Qualifiers, where Darvale first drew 2-2 against Semarland, and then lost against the Semars 5-3. Darvale will be facing Semarland on September 4th, on Matchday 3.

Timbermunich Soccer Squad
Hardwoods Player Profiles
Part 1 - Keepers

Goal Keepers
Great Hatchet Hank
– Club Team –
None, Timbermunich only has the National Team
- Position -
Goal Keeper

He is the starting keeper and has been ever since joining the team on his first senescence. His hand eye coordination is superb and comes from the many years of hunting before becoming a Great. He was the first Great to be found that was not an heir of Great Battle or Great One-Arm Willy. His hunting prowess came from the teachings he received from Elder Scharuka and her daughter Scharika, who were prior to Great Hatchet Hank the greatest of all hunters/huntresses throughout Timbermunich. Scharika would become Hanks lover prior to him entering the Heart of the Grove and they were both expected to become the Elders of Cottontimber. Because Hank was found to contain the “Greatness” he would eventually part ways with her, never taking her hand in marriage and long before the two were expected to lead Cottontimber. Hank has never forgotten about Scharika and he would often visit her in the first years after he entered his new life within the Heart of the Grove. Eventually, like all greats, he would loose her to old age. Since becoming a Great he has been tasked with the protection of animals, which is in addition to his normal Great duties and the overall protection of Timbermunich and its trees. To many this is seen as somewhat ironic considering he was, and probably still is, the best hunter in all of Timbermunich. Although it is completely opposite of his prior life, he is extremely satisfied with this task and takes tremendous joy in it. Hank actually met his current love, Great Atalanta, while rescuing a pack of stranded pups. He is currently still on his first senescence, which we do not know how many or how long they last for each Great.

As for his soccer or better yet his keeping skills, Hank attributes much of his success to the training he has gone through as a Great as well as his exceptional hand eye coordination.

None, Timbermunich only has the National Team
- Position -

Great One-Eye Wallice was destined to be a great being the youngest son of one of the original Greats. He actually made his fathers ax head illuminate while in the womb, while none of his siblings had that affect. He has been an integral part of the Heart Canopy and the development of the Heart of the Grove to where it is today. In his very first year of moving into the Heart of the Grove he helped build the main elevated meeting hall and designed many of the living quarters which are still in use today. He was also one of the youngest Greats to move into the Heart of the Grove and was just 22 when he opted to move, while most wait until their late 30s or early 40s depending on what family they have. Some Greats will even wait until after a spouse passes before moving, although rare since it is seen as a great family honor to be a Great and enter into that service. As for why he is called One-Eye, well you can imagine that it has something to do with him only having one eye. He was actually screwing around when it happened and was lucky to not loose more than just his eye in the accident. Wallice along with two other friends decided to take an adventure when they were 13, despite being told no by their mothers. The three boys set out to the east northeast of Timbermunich Grove and hoped to find some TimberStags to mess with. Well they found a mother and two young stags after about an hour search. Wallice took the rope he brought with and tied one end to a nearby sapling, then lassoed one of the young TimberStags. He jumped on to try and ride the animal when it took off on a dead sprint in the opposite direction of the taut rope, as it became slack it actually tripped the other two boys who tried to slow the beast down. But their efforts failed and reaching the opposite side of the sapling and taking up all the slack the rope once again became taut and jerked the animal back cartwheeling it and Wallice. Due to his momentum he moved a bit faster than the animals head and its left antler caught his face as he tumbled forward. One of the tines went right into his eye and another into his cheek before they both ripped out and Wallice crashed to the ground. When the two boys got to him he was knocked out, his eye and a small chunk of facial tissue were still stuck to the tines of the TimberStag. They rushed him back to the village leaving the animal tethered to the sapling. The village doctor stitched him up but could do nothing about his eye, especially since it was still in the woods on the end of some antlers. Wallice would later go back to the still tied up animal, tame it, and keep it as his own riding TimberStag. After all they are the fastest of the hooved beasts (kind of a cross between a thoroughbred and a moose/elk).

Great Mortimer
– Club Team –
None, Timbermunich only has the National Team
- Position -
Goal Keeper
The last of our keepers is Mortimer and like Hank he is not an heir to one of the original Greats, but was rather found to possess the “Greatness” when he was 20 years old. He was a simple young man and spent much of his time as a harvester in the Vegetal Region. He and his family (mother, father, and 4 siblings) were all harvesters as were his grandparents. His greatness was found during one of their normal harvest days when a sudden storm rolled through and as they took cover in one of the safe zones (small shelters set up throughout the Vegetal fields) Mortimer noticed a young girl still out in the field. He ran out to get her and on the way back to the safe zone he was struck by lightning. But nothing happened, it didn’t even knock him over he just kept running and got the girl to the safe zone. Witnesses said they could see the lightning hit Mortimer’s left shoulder and then deflect away from the girl to the ground saving her life from certain death. Once the storm subsided the villagers summoned Great Battle along with the Great Battle Ax (his ax) to check Mortimer and as soon as Great Battle unsheathed the head it was clear Mortimer possessed the “Greatness” as it illuminated and pulsed.

As for his keeper style, well he is more traditional with great hands and field vision. But he tends to have poor positioning at times and can get caught out of place on occasion. His on field commanding voice can be heard by anyone, which is a great asset for him to have. He is a good leader and is liked by everyone on the team. But because of his bad positioning he is not on par with either Wallice or Hank.

SEMARLAND RUNNER CUP THREE - 25 MAN SQUAD AND TEAM GUIDE

Background:

Manager Henrik Jensen has made the decision to have the exact same 25 man squad from the World Cup 69 Qualifiers. It includes 39 year old defender Magnus Nielsen, who has not played a national game since May 2013, was called up to the squad, due to most defenders resting from the Baptism of Fire. The only player from that squad to make the team was the team's star Demba Cisse, who personally said to Jensen and to the press that he wanted to play, and with his amazing stamina and amazing skills, he is definitely not a bad choice. Obvious inclusions include Captain and record-scorer Marc Lygaard, 39 year old Vice Captain Andreas Jansen, goalkeeper Jorgen Karlstad, Nicolas Janzaard and Matur Eiriksson in defence and tough-tackling midfielder Marko Halck. Some uncapped players have been called up, Divock Marelana, Lasse Pedersen, Tipio Runen and Ake Orjan Niemquist. Runen was highly tipped to make the cut, as the right winger/striker was his club's top scorer. He will most likely come on as a substitute, as both the right wing and striker positions appear to have been pre-booked.

Semarland will likely start in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Karlstad in goal, although promising young keeper Anders Sjelkords may well get the nod. The other option is veteran Martin Datheim, whose younger brother striker Janko Datheim has also made the squad. Defender-wise, it is likely that Eiriksson, Janzaard, Karbruck and Malsen will start, although there are Jakob Lunds, the veteran Magnus Nielsen and the uncapped duo of Divock Marelana and Matjas Nordland to compete with. There are plenty of midfield options, relatively uncapped Honen Havarisyaptyan, veteran Steve Matsen, Marko Halck and Andreas Jansen will battle for the defensive/central midfield places. However, Havarisyaptyan can play attacking midfield and Jansen on the right-wing, but young star Demba Cisse and either Ture Skøjerhaven, Jurgen Hellaensen or Tipio Runen could have those spots respectively. Mads Olsen will likely start on the left-wing. Uncapped Lasse Pedersen, under-21 captain could also have a chance. There is plenty of strikers to choose from - Lygaard is an almost certain starter, being Captain and top scorer, but Martin Kristiansen, Jakob Larsen and Janko Datheim will compete with him. Skøjerhavn and Hellaensen will likely play on the right-wing, or up front/attacking mid. Niemquist could play in either of the attacking midfield or striker options.

The national team receives its kits from two different companies, though the design for each is the same. Kits for the humanoid players (see above) are provided by Kirola Sportswear of Audioslavia, while those for equine and other non-humanoid players are provided by Generosity Sporting Equipment. The Equestrian kits were designed to be simple and easy to identify, using the national colors of purple and orange.

Players

Goalkeepers
Image
#1 - Gentle Breeze (Pegasus - Female)
Position: Goalkeeper | Age: 25 | Debut: vs. Image Qazox (WC62 Qualifying)
Club: Image Northbrook Diamonds FK (PIS) | League: FPIFA Divisjon One
International Caps: 80 | Assists: 1 | Goals: 0
Although the term "world-class" may be overused by pundits and analysts while describing talented players, Gentle Breeze is one of the select few with a legitimate claim to being among the multiverse's best. At the age of 19, the Equestrian goalkeeper played a key role in leading the Little Ponies to a third-place finish at the Di Bradini Cup before returning to play an even larger role the following year with the title-winning team of the 27th Di Bradini Cup. Gentle Breeze's five clean sheets during that tournament brought her to the attention of the rest of the hoofball universe, earning the Equestrian a place with the Mardi Lopunnies of Northern Sunrise Islands. Over the next couple years, Gentle Breeze established herself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Sunrisian league while simultaneously challenging long-time Equestrian national team keeper High Soarin' for his starting role. But it wasn't until the pegasus landed a transfer to Astograth University that she really earned her position among the multiverse's elite. For the following three seasons, Gentle Breeze claimed a monopoly on the Best Goalkeeper award in one of the world's top leagues, playing a major role in her club's domestic and international success and finally taking over the starting goalkeeper's position with the Ponies. After the Astograthian league's sudden banning of foreigners, Gentle Breeze was quickly snatched up by Polarian Divisjon One club Northbrook Diamonds FK. In her first season with Northbrook, Gentle Breeze erased any remaining doubts that she was one of the multiverse's best players by helping her new club win not just the league title but also the Latitude Cup to complete the second league and cup double of her career; and just to cement her status as a true world-class athlete, the pegasus claimed her fourth-consecutive Best Goalkeeper award.

Image
#22 - Nightflame (Unicorn - Male)
Position: Goalkeeper | Age: 24 | Debut: vs. Image Yesopalitha (WC63 Qualifying)
Club: Image Canterlot Stars (EQS) | League: United League
International Caps: 13 | Assists: 0 | Goals: 0
With Gentle Breeze on the team, Nightflame's playing time is largely limited to friendlies and low-importance international matches, but he's still a talented goalkeeper with a lot to offer to the Equestrian States national team. A product of the Canterlot Stars' famed youth academy, Nightflame has developed into one of the United League's top keepers, but has often been overlooked by the local and international media thanks to the his club's recent struggles and lack of appearances for the Ponies. Regardless, Nightflame is a more than capable backup goalkeeper who steps up his game when needed, a quality which serves him well given his role in the Equestrian squad.

Image
#21 - Marilyn Peterson (Human - Female)
Position: Goalkeeper | Age: 22 | Debut: vs. Image Urain (VIII Olympiad)
Club: Image South Laithland (NPH) | League: NFA Premiership
International Caps: 6 | Assists: 0 | Goals: 0
A recent graduate of the Equestrian States U21s, Marilyn Peterson may not be particularly well-known even among Equestrian hoofball fans, but her promising talent has managed to turn enough heads to earn her a spot on the senior team. It's possible Peterson may overtake Nightflame in the depth chart somewhere down the road, but until then, she'll more than likely find herself with minimal playing time and one can only assume she was brought along to learn from the other two goalkeepers and be exposed a bit more to the international level of play.

Defenders
Image
#3 - Flitter (Pegasus - Female)
Position: Defender (CB/DM) | Age: 29 | Debut: vs. Image Waspeaters (WC60 Qualifying)
Club: Image Jan Mayen Islanders (PIS) | League: FPIFA Divisjon One
International Caps: 183 | Assists: 19 | Goals: 10
Fraternal twin sister of national team star midfielder and captain Cloudchaser, Flitter is viewed by many as the anchor of the Equestrian back line and is arguably the best defender to ever represent the Equestrian States on the international stage. A regular starter for the Ponies since her debut as a promising 20 year-old during the World Cup 60 qualifying campaign, Flitter has long been considered one of the team's key players and is easily the most-capped Equestrian defender of all time. Although she may not be the most imposing player on the pitch, the pegasus star is exceptionally quick for a defender, and often relies on her speed and hoofwork to steal or intercept the ball rather than brute force. Flitter has also been a force to be reckoned with at the domestic level, as her defensive leadership has played a major role in Ponyville United's domination of Equestrian hoofball over the last decade. As a result of her excellent form for both Ponyville United and the Equestrian national team, Flitter recently earned a transfer to Polar Islandstates' Jan Mayen Islanders, where despite some struggles in her first season she hopes to establish herself as one of the Polarian league's top defenders.

Image
#24 - Brix Hamilton (Human - Female)
Position: Defender (CB/LB) | Age: 25 | Debut: vs. Image Argo Islands (WC63 Qualifying)
Club: Image Nithgard GU (EAR) | League: Integ Brandel
International Caps: 53 | Assists: 6 | Goals: 2
Once just another promising Equestrian youth, Brix Hamilton has developed into one of the Equestrian States' finest defensive talents, her growth as a player mirroring the ascension of Nithgard GU from a mid-table side in the Integ Brandel to one of the multiverse's best clubs. Signed by the Kaynd at the age of 19 from the Equestrian Second League's Real Maredrid, Hamilton did not immediately establish herself as an elite player as other Equestrians have after moving to a foreign league, struggling in her first season as Nithgard finished 14th in the league. Brix Hamilton started for the Little Ponies at the 27th Di Bradini Cup, where her performance earned her a spot on the Equestrian qualifying roster during the successful World Cup 66 campaign. Then, in her first breakout season with Nithgard GU, a 21 year-old Hamilton helped lead the Kaynd to an improbable Integ Brandel title before playing a key role in the club's shocking Champions' Cup quarterfinals run, two feats she would repeat the following year. Brix Hamilton's domestic successes sent her flying up the Equestrian depth chart and was on the brink of earning a starting role when her luck appeared to run out. Over the next two seasons, the Equestrian defender struggled, her club failing to defend its title and falling down the table into Earent's Globe Cup spots. Regardless of her poor form, the Ponies' head coach, Twilight Striker, saw fit to give Hamilton the coveted spot on the starting XI as Blackmane and Subtle Trix both failed to impress in the disastrous World Cup 68 qualifying campaign. The unexpected promotion instantly restored Brix Hamilton's confidence, which inspired a run of excellent form that Nithgard GU rode not only to their third Integ Brandel title in five seasons, but all the way through the UICA Champions' Cup and Super Cup. Now firmly entrenched as a starter for the Ponies and as perhaps the best defender in one of the multiverse's top leagues, Brix Hamilton is once again on the rise, and will be looking to help lead the Equestrian States to the top of the hoofball world in the coming years.

Image
#8 - Andrea Molovi (Human - Female)
Position: Defender (CB) | Age: 28 | Debut: vs. Image Euskirribakondara (WC61 Qualifying)
Club: Image 1830 Cathair (AUD) | League: LigAnaia Division One
International Caps: 151 | Assists: 5 | Goals: 3
Despite being a regular starter for the Ponies and one of its most experienced players, Andrea Molovi is often considered one of the most underrated and overlooked members of the Equestrian national team. Among the first Equestrian States-born human players to make a name for herself, Andrea is an extremely talented defender whose disciplined style of play has impressed more than a few in the Equestrian media. After spending most of her professional career with Stalliongrad HC, Andrea Molovi was recently sold to 1830 Cathair, Audioslavian contenders in the up-and-coming LigAnaia, for a fee of $15 million. Although some critics were initially skeptical of whether or not the Equestrian defender was really worth the price tag, Andrea wasted no time proving that every penny of her fee was well-spent. Not only did she play a major role in turning a mediocre 1830 Cathair back line into one of the league's best, but the defender also impressed even her Equestrian admirers with a number of well-timed goals that helped lead her new club to a LigAnaia title. Throughout the Ponies' ultimately unsuccessful World Cup 69 qualifying campaign, Andrea Molovi was consistently one of the better Equestrian players and will look to continue her run of excellent form in the Runner Cup.

Image
#18 - Horus (Unicorn - Female)
Position: Defender (LB/CB) | Age: 26 | Debut: vs. Image Megadia (WC63 Qualifying)
Club: Image Canterlot Royals (EQS) | League: United League
International Caps: 27 | Assists: 1 | Goals: 0
A member of the Equestrian squad which won the 27th Di Bradini Cup, Horus has largely flown under the radar at both the international and domestic levels, despite being a regular on the national team for several years now. However, the unicorn defender has never viewed the minimal media coverage she receives as a hindrance to her career and has generally gone about her business with a cheery attitude that brightens the the mood of her teammates in the locker room even after a tough loss. With the recent departure of Flitter and Andrea Molovi to foreign clubs, Horus is arguably the best Equestrian States-born defender still playing in the United League and is finally beginning to receive the media attention a player of her quality deserves. As a member of the Equestrian national team, Horus makes most of her appearances as the left-back in the Ponies' 4-2-3-1 formation.

Image
#19 - Krysia Bailey (Human - Female)
Position: Defender (RB/CB/DM) | Age: 20 | Debut: vs. Image Iturributa (WC68 Qualifying)
Club: Image Avenida Leal (FFD) | League: FARF Freitball Ligá
International Caps: 22 | Assists: 3 | Goals: 1
One of several promising young defenders selected by Twilight Striker for the World Cup 69 campaign, Krysia Bailey is an extremely talented prospect who also made the Equestrian squad last year for the Cup of Harmony. Signed by Avenida Victoria as a teenager, Bailey has impressed in her two seasons in the FARF Freitball Ligá, helping her club finish among the best in the league in goals allowed. Recently sold to Avenida Leal, Krysia Bailey looks every bit like a star of the future and saw a bit of action as a substitute alongside fellow highly-praised defensive prospects Rumble and Erauso Iburrusteta during the Ponies' World Cup 69 campaign.

Image
#20 - Rumble (Pegasus - Male)
Position: Defender (CB/DM) | Age: 19 | Debut: vs. Image Jeckland (Pre-WC68 Friendly)
Club: Image Marine Coast United (VIL) | League: V-League Declasse Division
International Caps: 19 | Assists: 2 | Goals: 0
The younger brother of longtime national team striker Thunderlane, Rumble is another one of the several promising defenders selected by Twilight Striker for the upcoming qualifying campaign. Though the teenage pegasus idolizes his older brother, his talents differ considerably from those of Thunderlane. A defensive prodigy, Rumble aspires to become the best Equestrian center-back ever, though his speed and versatility have seen him occasionally feature in the midfield for his club. Regardless of where Pearly White decides to use Rumble, opponents should be careful not to underestimate this young Equestrian's abilities.

Image
#33 - Erauso Iburrusteta (Human - Male)
Position: Defender (CB) | Age: 19 | Debut: vs. Image Osarius (Pre-WC69 Friendly)
Club: Image Cloudsdale Flyers (EQS) | League: United League
International Caps: 9 | Assists: 1 | Goals: 0
Born and raised in Astograth, Erauso Iburrusteta was not even an Equestrian citizen at this point last year. However, with Astograth a victim of the recent wave of fascism that has taken the multiverse by storm, the teenage defender decided to apply for asylum in the Equestrian States and defect. Signed as a young prospect by the Cloudsdale Flyers, Erauso Iburrusteta has been a rising star in the United League the last couple seasons and the Ponies' supporters were delighted to finally see him don the purple and orange of the Equestrian States.

Coaches & Staff
Image
Manager - Image Pearly White (Earth Pony - Female) - 42
With Twilight Striker's resignation as manager of the Equestrian national team following the Ponies' second consecutive elimination in the World Cup playoffs, the Hoofball Association quickly named Pearly White as the team's interim manager. Former manager of the Equestrian States' U-21 squad, Pearly White led the Little Ponies to glory in the 27th Di Bradini Cup and was ultimately brought into the senior team's coaching staff by Twilight Striker following long-time assistant manager Mad Dash's departure to take over the Kazamatsuri national team. In the short time Pearly White has been in charge of the Ponies, the young and ambitious earth pony manager has earned more than a little praise for the Equestrians' recent improved form in victories over Northern Sunrise Islands and Vilita. Although still technically only the interim manager, it's widely believed that a sufficiently deep run at the Runner Cup might see Pearly White take over the team on a permanent basis.

Image
Assistant Manager - Image Hat Trix (Unicorn - Male) - 52
Many Equestrian supporters are surprised to see that Hat Trix hasn't been removed from the Ponies' coaching staff yet. Hat Trix has been an assistant for the Equestrian States national team since its formation, but the perception of the unicorn's abilities as a member of the staff have fluctuated wildly as the team's fortunes have risen and fallen. Tasked primarily with the training of the Ponies' defense, Hat Trix has often been blamed for the Equestrians' defensive woes by fans and pundits alike, and with Twilight Striker's recent departure it seems more than likely that this is his final tournament in that role.

Image
Assistant Manager - Image Dreamy Skies (Pegasus - Female) - 38
Just a few years ago, Dreamy Skies took charge of the Second League's Whitetail Foresters, and had a near-instant impact on the club's fortunes. Promoted to the United League and now a contender for the United League's Globe Cup berths, the Foresters' rise under the steady hoof of Dreamy Skies is nothing short of incredible. As a result, interim manager Pearly White managed to convince the HA that the pegasus would be a strong addition to the Ponies' coaching staff, and thus far that move has paid-off spectacularly, with players praising her work ethic and optimism, something the team badly needed after narrowly missing the World Cup at the final hurdle yet again.

Image
Goalkeeping Coach - Image Fire Blossom (Unicorn - Male) - 47
Training the talented Equestrian goalkeepers is Fire Blossom, whose exploits as a keeper in the old Equestrian Premier League earned him much respect among hoofball fans nationwide. Though Fire Blossom rarely speaks to the media for any reason whatsoever, his early statements doubting Mac Stevenson's ability to replace High Soarin' back in World Cup 61 qualifying made him look like a genius when Stevenson's selection turned out to be one of Twilight Striker's greatest blunders. Likewise, predicting and guiding the development of Gentle Breeze into a true world-class goalkeeper have brought attention to Fire Blossom's eye for potential and knack for coaching.

Image
Scout - Image Diamond Star (Unicorn - Female) - 45
Few outside of the Equestrian States would be able to correctly identify the nation's top scout, but Diamond Star has a fairly impressive résumé, being the first to spot the potential of stars such as Rainbow Blitz, Pristina Shine, Cloudchaser, and Thunderlane. Diamond Star specializes in locating and recruiting domestic talent for the Equestrian national team.

Image
Scout - Image Golden Hooves (Earth Pony - Female) - 56
Unlike Diamond Star, Golden Hooves' talents lie more in scouting the abilities of foreign players and how they match up against those of the Ponies. The earth pony mare is particularly well-known for her recruiting of foreign prospects for the Canterlot Stars and Ponyville United clubs.

Image
Fitness Coach - Image Craig Jackson (Human - Male) - 45
Hired in the midst of the injury-filled disaster that was World Cup 63 qualifying, Craig Jackson was the first human member of the Ponies' staff and has done well in the last several years keeping the Equestrian States relatively injury-free. While fitness coaches generally don't get much respect or attention from the press, Jackson's natural gift for keeping players of so many species healthy cannot be overlooked or scoffed upon.

Team Strategy

Image

The Ponies' most-used formation is the slightly modified 3-5-2, preferred by former manager Twilight Striker because of the strength and dominance of the Equestrian midfielders. Thanks to the versatility of the Equestrian States' players, the formation gives the Ponies the ability to shift quickly from the offense to the defense and vice-versa. More recently, however, the Equestrians have begun to shy away from the 3-5-2 in favor of the 4-2-3-1 in order to strengthen the back line and keep their opponents guessing. Aside from the formations themselves, the Equestrians have a number of definitive strengths and weaknesses.

First, the Ponies are among the world's fastest and most durable teams, using their natural advantages to tire out opponents. With those two traits as the defining characteristics of the Equestrian style of play, the squad excels at producing chances in the latter stages of the match. But while the attack dominates the second half, opposing squads have occasionally found success going all-out at the start of the match in an attempt to build an insurmountable lead.

Another area in which the Equestrian States has traditionally dominated is in the aerial battles for headers. While the Ponies are generally shorter than their opponents, the team is often credited with impressive leaping abilities (particularly among the pegasai players). Controlling headers makes the team lethal on corner kicks, and opponents looking to defeat the Equestrians must limit the number conceded to the Ponies or else face a barrage of dangerous short-range shots from the Ponies' attackers.

On Species and Equestrian Hoofball
The Equestrian States is a nation of incredible diversity. When many countries make this kind of statement, they are referring only to racial matters dealing with differences in skin color or culture. But the Equestrian States takes diversity to a whole new level, with dozens of sapient species living alongside each other in harmony. From pegasai to griffons, and humans to dragons, the Equestrian States is among the most diverse nations known to exist. But diversity has also had a unique and intriguing impact on the playing of sports in the Equestrian States, and hoofball is no exception. In the following paragraphs, the natural strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies of each prominent species in the Equestrian States will be explored, offering those unfamiliar with the Equestrian States a chance to explore the wonderful diversity that makes the Equestrian States a great country and gives our beloved national hoofball team a versatility that few others can hope to match.

OOC: For fair RP bonus attribution, most of the characters included on this roster are from the Doctor Who TV Series (and from a couple of Dr. Who books) and are either real, as in play a part in the series, or just random variations but from the species listed in Dr. Who. Some names will come from the members' list of this thread. For more background info, most of the species should be found on Wikipedia; except for Lazarus, for which you need to search for 'The Lazarus Experiment'. For the Raxacoricofallapatorians, search Slitheen. For Silurian, see 'Cold Blood' or 'The Hungry Earth' (followed by Doctor Who if necessary). For Rory, search 'The Pandorica Opens'.

Manager: Rassilon (Species: Time Lord; the first Lord President of Gallifrey, Rassilon created the Eye of Harmony, which gave the Time Lords their time travelling ability. All in all, he became the foundation of Gallifrey, although that may all be just public relations. He had discovered the secret to immortality, but was deposed by rebellious Time Lords, before going into an eternal sleep in the Tomb of Rassilon, located in the Death Zone. Late on in the Time War, he was seemingly brought back to direct the war efforts, but as he was willing to destroy the Time Vortex and thus the whole of creation [in the Whoniverse, if not all universes], to win the Time War, the Doctor time-locked him and the whole of Gallifrey.)
Assistant Manager: Adam Loftus (Normal human, aged 73; returned to the national team after a break of a few World Cups, but has basically been the behind the many managers there have been since the creation of the team back in World Cup 49 [OOC: a bit like Stuart Pearce of England].)
Coach: Sameer Ahmad (Normal human, aged 54; is the older brother of Shabeen, and also has one of the higher goal counts, but has been much eclipsed by his brother's success.)
Coach and Team blogger:Shabeen Ahmad III (Normal Human, aged 52; has scored over 200 goals for the EL national team, and is still an inspiration to everyone, nearly taking the team to the playoffs in World Cup 58, which has his first foray into full management.)

This team were all taken out of their respective time-lines by Time Scoop technology, so where some may be dead by this time, they are alive at this point in space-time. And it was the ELFA who did this, with the help of its inventor, Rassilon.

Goalkeepers:

Blon Fel-Fotch Pasameer-Day Slitheen: Species: Raxacoricofallapatorian (family: Slitheen); refer to as Blon. Was caught impersonating MI5's Margaret Blaine in 2005 (Earth time), where she and her family members were planning to instigate World War III and turn the planet into fissile material, ready to sell. With the plan destroyed by a well-timed Harpoon missile, she managed to escape, but was the only one. She then went on to become Mayor of Cardiff, using a nuclear plant and the Cardiff Rift to attempt to escape. She did, but in doing so regressed into an egg, and was delivered to the hatcheries on Raxacoricofallpatorius for a second chance at life.

The Abzorbaloff: Species: Unknown, but related to Raxacoricofallapatorians (albeit despising them); Originating from Raxacoricofallapatorius' twin planet, Clom, this particular one came to Earth and tricked a group of humans who were searching for the Doctor to join him, but eventually absorbing them all to satisfy his hunger.

Outfielders (Basically, this lot can play anywhere on the pitch apart from in goal):

Strax: He was a Commander for the Sontaran Military, but was disgraced for an unknown reason, and then was forced to become a nurse by the Doctor, to settle a debt. Has since become a member of the Doctor's Victorian London detective team.

Reaper: Species: Reaper; Flying bat-like creatures with scythe-like tails, the Reapers are extradimensional beings, who have the ability to materialise in normal spacetime when a paradox occurs, devouring everything in the area to repair the damage. They can be stopped by material barriers, the older the better, but not permanently, and a paradox on the other side of the barrier will let them through quicker.

Madame Vastra: species: Silurian; Is another of the people who the Doctor a debt, in this case, it is for saving her from a life of crime and hiding out in the early London underground, and she in turn became a veiled Victorian detective. Part of the Doctor's Victorian detective team.

Creet: species: Toclofane/Human (from the year 100 trillion and reduced to live inside metal balls); With the universe on the brink of ending, a group of humans were building a means of escape to "Utopia". With the help of the Doctor, they managed to do so, but only found darkness, and then they cannibalised themselves into this shape. This particular one was a young boy who worked in the sanctuary.

The Doctor: species: Time Lord, age: last confirmed to be 1103 (although he doesn't really know himself). Words cannot describe this man's life, but as for football, he's had "plenty" of experience, having played a match for the King's Arm Pub League Football team and scoring more than two hat-tricks in that single match (and now World Cups 59 through 62 alongside Copa Rushmoris and Cups of Harmony). Plays mainly up front.

Captain Jack Harkness: species: unknown (very humanoid though); Jack grew up on the Boeshane Peninsula as a kid and joined the Time Agency, but quit after a few years, becoming a con man with a Vortex Manipulator (basic time travel). After meeting the Doctor during the Blitz, Jack dies on Satellite 5 in the year 200,000, but is then brought back to life by the Time Vortex, effectively becoming immortal.

Rory the Plastic Centurion: species: Auton, created by the Nestene Consciousness; refer to as Rory; Dressed up in full Roman armour, Rory has had a miserable past, one that has included being killed, followed shortly after by not being born, followed by becoming a plastic duplicate with a full human consciousness. However, he is rather hardened by all this, and also has a gun in his right hand which he won't use, but will still throw himself into anything nothing less than fully committed.

Raston Warrior Robot: species: None, it is a machine; This robot has been called 'the most perfect killing machine ever devised', being able to move faster than lightning and to kill a troop of Cybermen in seconds. Its face is featureless, and its weapons are collapsible and miniaturizable, and so concealed. For the purposes of this campaign, its weapons have been remotely disarmed, but it still moves faster than normal humans can see.

Pyrovile: species Pyrovile; A humanoid being made of pure magma and volcanic rock, Pyroviles are vicious (albeit quite slow), not to mention being about 5 times the height of average humans when fully grown. Pyroviles originated from the planet Pyrovilia, but crash landed on Earth after their home was lost. They grew in the bowels of Mount Vesuvius, giving some of the locals the power of soothsaying. They planned to convert the entire human race to Pyroviles, and in turn create a new Pyrovilia. As a consequence of his magma nature, all match balls will be lined with lead to prevent them from bursting.

Jenny: species: Human/Time Lord hybrid; The Doctor was taken by the TARDIS to Messaline, where a war was raging between humans and fish-like humanoids called Hath. The Doctor then had his hand put into a progenation machine, used to produce clones for the war, and out came Jenny. She was later on killed by a commander who refused to accept the ceasefire, but then came back to life, having died in the presence of a terraforming device. She was last seen blasting off in the rocket, looking for adventure, and now she's here.

Modified Weeping Angel: species: Weeping Angel; modifications: only becomes a statue when opposition player with the ball is looking at it; No information known as of yet.

Professor Lazarus: Species: Severely mutated human (completely not humanoid at times), refer to as Lazarus; Professor Lazarus was eighty-odd years old, but invented a machine which could manipulate a person's DNA and make them younger. The first demonstration nearly catastrophically fails, but Lazarus emerges much younger. However, his DNA was since found to be unstable, and it showed when Lazarus changed into a scorpion-like creature that drained the life energy of other humans in order to keep him young.

Dalek Sec: Species: Human Dalek (Dalek that has taken on a humanoid form); After the Battle of Canary Wharf, the Cult of Skaro, now armed with the knowledge that they were the last Daleks in existence, escaped to 1930's New York, where they planned to recreate themselves in a humanoid form, by merging symbiotically with kidnapped humans deemed to be of superior intelligence. The leader of the cult, Dalek Sec, was the first to do so, merging with the businessman behind the building of the Empire State Building to form a Human Dalek. The remaining pure Daleks stopped the program upon seeing a Sec having emotions.

Silent: species: The Silence; The Silence is a religious order that believes that Silence will fall when the first question, the oldest question in the universe, is put to the Doctor, on the fields of Trenzelor, where no living creature can speak falsely or fail to answer. They attempted to bring down the Doctor through an abducted part Time Lord child (no relation to the Doctor), and kill him in a still point, thus creating a fixed point. But they failed.

Captain Tybo: Species: Judoon; refer to as Tybo; Is a Juddoon captain who crashed on Earth whilst transporting the Juddoon's most wanted criminal, Androvax the Destroyer, wanted for 12 counts of planetary destruction.

Vashta Nerada swarm: species: Vashta Nerada; The are microscopic organisms, which when swarming are completely indistinguishable from shadows, and being highly carnivorous, this plays into their hands. These Vashta Nerada number about 3,000,000, but are compacted into a humanoid form, for fairness. After a Kinitar player had his leg chewed off, the vashta nerada that played in that cup have been swapped for a vegetarian and pescetarian swarm (so fish people/giant vegetables beware).

Home stadium: Lodger City Memorial Stadium (cap. 150,000)
The national stadium of Eastfield Lodge since it was built relatively recently, it was built on the ruins of the old Lodger City, the former capital of Eastfield Lodge which was completely devastated by a nuclear disaster and floods within minutes of each other. It stands as a symbol of a new life, now even more prevalent after a horrible civil war and what not. But the new city has now become the footballing capital of Eastfield Lodge after some of the biggest teams moved in after Dillvill declared independence.

Because I can't be bothered to make a factbook, information about Eastfield Lodge can be found here, although some of it will be out of date. Including the facts that Dillvill declared independence and went back to normal reality, as did half the country's empire. And the fact that the only link to us is a small island somewhere in the northeastern part of Rushmore. Any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

JECKLAND PREPARE FOR RUNNER CUP

After a slightly anticlimatic World Cup Qualifying campaign which saw the Spuds finish fifth in their group and fail to get invited to the Cup of Harmony, they must instead settle for the Runner Cup, a tournament relatively new to the asscoation football scene. Now in it's third edition, this is the first time the Spuds have participated. However they are ranked 37th, owing to the ranking formula taking into account WCQ games and previous Runner Cups. This meant they were third seeds for the draw, which put them in Group C.

Group C
Eastfield Lodge (6)
Jeckland (39)
Miley World (51)
Kazamatsuri (24)

Eastfield Lodge are the favourits in this group. They are a familiar face in international football but have never quite kicked on and become a global power. Kazamatsuri are also tricky opponents, the hosts of the 60th Cup of Harmony are a side not too dissimilar in stature to the top seeds. The final opponent in this grup is Miley World, and although they only debuted in WC69, they upset several higher ranked teams in a very tricky qualifying group. A tough group for the Spuds, but in typical Jeckish spirit they will fancy their chances of muscling through to the knockout phase.

Jeckland will be wearing new kits for the Runner Cup with their previous deal with Vulpine expiring. They have swithced to Kirola, who have produced new home and away kits. The home kits is largely yellow, with two different shades seperated by subtle stripes. On the right hand side of the front of the kit there is a green stripe. The away kits have the same design, but are dark blue in colour with a purple stripe. THe kits have recieved overwhelmingly positive acclaim. Whilst the specifics of the deal are not fully known, it is rumoured that these kits will be used for the next three World Cups.

Jeckland opens up their Runner Cup campaign, clad in their new kits, against Miley World in Equestrian States. Jeckland Sports 1 will have the full game live, as well as pre and post match analysis.

A continuation of my World Cup RP Line

"What? Oh God, Riley, you've-"

Bryan slumped back. "I'm not Riley. I..." he coughed. "I'm sorry, ma'am." a tear rolled down his face for the first time since that day they'd played National FC. Oh God, how long ago had it been? How long ago since Vjaalsbürg, since Alex, since the bus of the dead and the barely holding on?

"It's okay, kid." this came from an older man smoking in the corner. "First day's always like that," he drawled softly.

"Thanks. I'm Bryan, what about you?"

"James."

"That's nice."

An awkward pause ensued, and it was the first woman to break it. "So, what did you do pre-war?"

"Played football. I was a right halfback for FC New Llama."

"Bryan...Bryan Ferguson?"

"That's right."

"My God," Jim said slowly, "how did Bryan Ferguson get in here?"

"Served in the army for a few months, then some revolutionary girl invited me to her room and things went downhill from there." he wasn't willing to get more exact.

The doors banged open, and somebody was limply tossed in. "Don't kill her," a menacing soldier instructed the assorted prisoners in the room. "Over here!" he called out. No response. Bryan ran up to her immediately, to find she wasn't moving.

He felt for heartbeat and found none. All over her body were scars and bruises. They had beaten her, and she hadn't submitted.

Bryan didn't know her. But he wished she had submitted.

Immediately afterwards, a large bag was thrown into the air by some uncaring hand, scraps of food trailing out of it. It sailed in a smooth arc through the air and fell on the ground in front of Bryan. He stared at it, dumbfoundedly, before realizing food was inside.

"Guys, do we split this up or wh-"

Immediately someone rammed into him. It was Jim, he realized. He hadn't seen how gaunt the man was, but now he knew.

"I need it!" Jim yelled crazedly. "Give it to me!"

Then another, larger man was on top of them both, then a woman. A child - no older than eleven - tugged at the bag under him, while the others piled on top. He felt something snap, a bone giving way.

"Ah-" he gasped, and then Jim's face - that starved face, those starved eyes - was on top of him and he blacked out. Animals. They'd all become animals.

He would not go with them.

Team Strategy

Image

In many ways, the style of hoofball played by the Crystal Empire is similar to that of the Equestrian States, being based on speed, endurance, and the natural advantages of equine athletes. However, there are a couple of key differences between the two teams' approaches. First, the Crystal Empire is more defensive than their Equestrian counterparts, using a slightly-modified 4-4-2 formation and relying on the midfielders to provide additional defensive support if needed. This conservative strategy allows the Crystal Knights to better weather the early all-out attacks that have felled the Ponies in the past, leaving them rested and capable of staging second half surges similar to those utilized by the Equestrian States.

Furthermore, the Crystal Empire lacks the species diversity that the Equestrian States is so well known for, being over 98% inhabited by crystal ponies. While they may lack some of the natural advantages held by other sapient equines, the crystal ponies should still not be taken lightly by humanoid players. Like other ponies, crystal ponies are generally shorter than their humanoid opponents but make up for it with impressive jumping abilities (though not nearly as awe-inspiring as those of the pegasai). Finally, while sapient equines rarely "play dirty", crystal ponies take clean play to a whole new level with their wholehearted devotion to the elegance and beauty of the game.

Player information (starters in bold)

Goalkeepers:
#11 Dodô: In the qualifications for the World Cup 57 he was the backup goalkeeper but this year the manager has choosen him over Bradley Jones to be the starting goalkeeper. Please note that Miley World made a jump in time, as our players only aged one year since the world cup 57.

#1 Bradley Jones: Played well in the qualifications for the world cup 57 but is a backup this year.

Defense:
#2 Jorge Garcia: Plays center back with Real Zamora, but he's a left defense on the national team. A very effective defenseman, he played all 16 games for Miley World during the world cup 57 qualifications. He plays a little too hard sometimes and can get yellow cards. Takes the left corners.

#4 Zezinho: Miley World's best defenseman, he's really speedy and plays at right defense. Can support Miley's offense.

#5 Alex: Miley World's center back, very reliable player, don't make a lot of defensive mistakes.

#6 Chris Robinson: Has 15 caps in the qualifications for the world cup 57 when Miley World was using a 4-4-2 formation but he's the odd man out in a 3-5-2. Could be used late in the game. Too agressive, he gets yellow cards.

#66 Ramon: Ramon is new on the national team, the manager preffered him over Johannes Klopp and Nicola Ceccarelli. He's is young and has improved over the last year.

Midfielders:
#7 Conor Downing: A very good offensive midfielder, he takes the free kicks. Had 4 goals and 4 assists in the qualifications for the WC 57 in 16 games.

#8 Felipe Vazquez: He's new on the team and improving a lot. The coach is planning to use him in the final 30 mins of the game instead of Durand or Léo.

#10 Léo: A pretty good midfielder, good defensively. Still haven't started a game for Miley World but was used as a late replacement in the qualif. for the WC 57.

#12 Fabrice Durand: A very good winger, takes the right corners.

#17 Alexandre Viard: Started the qualifications for the WC 57 on the starting 11, but Vladimir took his spot on the team late in the tournament.

#23 Ross Wallace: The captain and Miley World's best midfielder. Extremely good defensively.

#77 Vladimir: He's one of the best Miley World midfielders, speedy, reads the play well, good offensively and defensively. Has 1 goal and 2 assists in 5 games at the qualifications for the WC 57. Takes the free kicks with Downing.

Strikers;
#9 Mathieu Gignac: he's only 23 years old and he's new on the team. The coach preferred him over Will Hanley who didn't made the team this year.

#13 Ashley Johnstone: Ashley is a guy if you're wondering his gender. A talented striker, he had 3 goals and 2 assists a the qualifications for the WC 57.

#14 Grégory Dedieu : Now this is weird. "Dedieu" means "of god" in french and Grégory Dedieu is a kind of god in Miley World. Dedieu scored 5 goals in the qualifications for the WC 57, 3 goals in the BoF 44 and 5 goals in the Market Cup for a total of 13 goals for Miley World. Penalty taker.

And I'm sorry but I need to write some ooc info. I "created" the player Grégory Dedieu in 2011 just before the world cup 57 and when I "create" a player, I usually look at a soccer team roster and I pick a random first name and match it with a random last name so in 2011 there was a team in France who had a player with Grégory as his 1st name and another player with Dedieu as his last name. it's weird that his name is similar to ( ic now) a psychotic so-called god in Esportiva.

#27 Simon Le Tallec : a reservist, he won't see a lot of action in this tournament.

The Scattered Isles of Kazamatsuri
Official Roster for Runner Cup 3

Image

Nation Background

A semi-autonomous territory of the Celestial Empier of Mizuyuki, Kazamatsuri is a relatively new nation, having only been formed through a secession of a number of Mizuyuki's island colonies from its local administration a year previously. However, this change is said in political circles to be merely cosmetic, as the Celestial Empire remains in de facto control over the entire island chain in the prefecture due to the "revolutionaries" being unable to gain international recognition as a sovereign country.

Mizuyuki's comparatively overwhelming military might cast a shadow over Kazamatsuri. Following months of negotiations between the Executive COmmittee of Mizuyuki and the revolutionaries, the island chain of Kazamatsuri was officially made a protectorate of Mizuyuki, formally The Scattered Isles of Kazamatsuri, Protectorate of the Celestial Empire of Mizuyuki. However, a clause exists in the official treaty that compromises Kazamatsuri's already insignificant "independence"; Mizuyuki retains the right to revoke their protectorate status and reintegrate Kazamatsuri into their territories without notice. That being the case, however, during her opening speech at an official ceremony held at Kizuna Kyūden (絆宮殿) to recognise Kazamatsuri as a protectorate of the Celestial Empire, Mizuyukian diplomats reassured the leaders of Kazamatsuri that there were no plans to sanction such a revocation of their status in the near future.

Soon afterwards, a puppet government of the Celestial Empire was put into place; the leaders of the revolution were given nominal positions in the newly formed Kazamatsuri cabinet, which is known as The Committee of Judgment (判決委員会), Hanketsu Iinkai, (Judgment for short) while a loyalist of the Mizuyuki administration, Tonoya Akira (殿谷 明), the sister of Mizuyukian Executive Committee member Tonoya Jin (殿谷 仁) was installed as the Mizuyukian High Commissioner in Kizuna. She is set to continue presiding over the Scattered Isles for the foreseeable future.

Note - On 20 November 2013, the Scattered Isles of Kitsuneshima was officially renamed the Scattered Isles of Kazamatsuri.

Team Background

A group of ragtag professionals that originally held Mizuyukian citizenship, the members that make up Kazamatsuri's team are footballers that defected to Kazamatsuri following the Treaty of Kizuna that officially declared Kazamatsuri as a protectorate of Mizuyuki in protest of the decision. They claim that the formation of Kazamatsuri as a protectorate and not a fully independent country is unlawful, and thus chose to protest the decision by claiming Kazamatsurian citizenship and playing for their hatchling national team. However, since the Treaty of Kizuna holds that all citizens of Kazamatsuri are, by extension, citizens of Mizuyuki, this move was also criticised by many as ineffectual and merely a plea to garner attention.

Nassau National Football Squad

Nation: Nassau
Team Name: Eagles
Nickname: the Hessen
Colors: Blue and Gold
Trigram: NAS
Denonym: Nassauite, Hessians
Style Modifier: -1
Formation: 5-3-2

Foreword

It all was going so well, then disaster struck. The Hessen could not keep their cool against either Torisakia or Carialus, this also may be the reason why they (to the best of our understanding) missed out on a Cup Of Harmony invitation that they theoretically almost had clinched once they were a mere point behind the Agilang Dilaw. Among those who were invited was the Carialus Comrades and the football craving Red Blackilandians. Whatever happened to the aspiration of surpassing a +.500 record? It's gone, vanished, done for. The same can be said for the hope of finishing with the fourth slot in the standings, which was grasped by the Torisakia Ice Birds at the very last second. No ties were recorded in the qualifiers, an odd occurrence, but the World Cup qualifier campaign will serve as a tragic reminder of what happens if you underestimate your opponents. Another competitor in the tournament that the Hessen didn't make was Nova Anglicana, whom the Eagles played in an exhibition game during the mid-qualifiers break. The last goal of the Hessen is to go up in the rankings, but that clearly won't happen with all of the new, and quite successful, competition that is emerging such as the formidable Eastfield Lodge and the persistent Blackilandian Dark Lions. What will happen in the new dawn of the Hessen now that both spirit and morale is crushed? Nobody can say anything for sure, but there may be completely new ideas thrown into the mix. Coverage on personal story-lines may overtake the usual popular game analysis. Interviews, blogs, and commentaries are gaining more popularity in Nassau, and you may see them also overtaking game analysis soon too. But then again, perhaps not.

What we can further say is that there is more football to be played, regardless if it was sanctioned or not. The Third Runner Cup was just around the corner, and Nassau wasted no time at all signing up for the consolation competitions consolation tournament. After the huge disappointment of an ending in the World Cup qualifiers, even a fantastic performance in the Runners Cup may not even significantly regain the morale of the soccer following Hessen. The draw will pin the Hessen against highly competitive teams such as Gloriax and McKleigh in Group H. This will give the Eagles a difficult challenge for their experimental 5-3-2 formation.

An intern and Princess Amy

Intern: Hi, I'm Bob from the Clueless Club
Amy: Well hello Clueless Bob
Intern: I'm looking for the Jeru FC coach
Amy: That's me
Intern: But they told me he was man
Amy: You mean Andre, he's retired now. He retired after the World Cup 69

Intern: Oh, what about his assistant?
Amy: He's on holidays
Intern: So you're in charge?
Amy: DUH
Intern: You're that Amy Pond right?
Amy: No

Intern: I don't get it
Amy: I'm Princess Amelia Jane Dallas not Amy Pond
Intern: I don't get it
Amy: I'm not Amy Pond, I'm Princess Amy. Daughter of Princess Melody Song Dallas.
Intern: I thought Melody was the daughter of Amy
Amy: Melody Pond is the daughter of Amy Pond. I'm not a Pond

Intern: Oh, I got it.
Amy: You're a bit slow
Intern: Now, are sending a team to the Cup of Harmony?
Amy: No, the runner cup 3. Not even related
Intern: What's that?
Amy: It's not related to the world cup or the cup of harmony. It's for teams who ... didn't go the cup of harmony

Intern: OK
Amy: So you got any idea what you're going ask?
Intern: No, because I was expecting to talk to someone else
Amy: If it's football related you can ask that
Intern: So where is this being held?
Amy: Equestrian States

Intern: Where's that?
Amy: You know that place full of ponies
Intern: No
Amy: Well we're going there
Intern: Ponies play football?
Amy: Well, there's more than ponies there. People there too.

Intern: The only ponies I know of are the ones on a farm
Amy: Well, this is place isn't Jeruselem
Intern: Aren't you too young to be a coach?
Amy: Who says that?
Intern: I mean, you're younger than your players
Amy: So, I'm in charge. Age isn't the problem

Intern: What makes you qualified for this?
Amy: I've played in the World Cup, my mum was a coach ... and her mum and well, you should bloody know that
Intern: So why you then
Amy: Because they had to find someone to manage this lot, I want to be a coach. Since it doesn't matter if I stuff up, I took the job
Intern: My Dad says football is for girls
Amy: You're not exactly captain cluey either

Intern: Well, I was just sent here
Amy: Well, do some bloody research before you hassle people with dumb questions
Intern: We don't have the Internet
Amy: Why is that?
Intern: Dad says it's full of porn
Amy: And so we end up with dumb people like you
