Police in your nation

Postby Urran » Sat Aug 09, 2014 10:23 pm

The police of Urran are armed with a baton, 9mm service pistol, a taser, handcuffs, a bullet proof vest, and pepper spray. Typical car brands may vary from city to city and town to town, but Toyota Corolla, Toyota Crown, Subaru Legacy, and other asian make cars.

Bicycles and motorbikes are also fairly common, especially Hondas.

Policing work is handled by the company militia. In rare instances, support from the police or army "back east" is also used. The Company militia has six main branches and some smaller ones:

Investigative branch: Handles investigations of crime, and also undertakes some counter terrorism and counterintelligence work. Most people in this branch usually carry small arms and wear civilian clothing, though some type of suit is an semi official dress code.

Urban Police branch: Handles policing work in cities and large towns. Most officers carry small arms, and dress in a navy blue uniform which includes a jacket and tie. Occasionally an urban cop may be spotted sporting a sub machine gun.

Rural Security branch
: Handles policing work in small towns and rural areas. Members often wear some type of paramilitary like uniform, including even fatigues in some cases. Members are generally armed with assault weapons and even grenades. This branch is active in suppressing insurgencies.

Special Services branch: Like an area wide SWAT team. Handles high profile situations.

Aviation branch: Handles aircraft.

Marine branch: Handles boats and waterways.

In addition to this, many areas still maintain a Sheriff's Office or some other type of localized law arrangements, but these agencies are legally subordinate to the Company Militia, and are generally not large anyway.

The number of police officers in Company owned lands is not very large, and the Company actively encourages citizens to settle their own disputes or to look for non state, no violent solutions. Covering the total area that exists west of Michigan, there only are about 50,000 total officers in all branches.

The national police is called the Tolmakian Homeland Police (Dulmnakean Humilan Fulechi or DHF). The police is partially a branch of the military (It is due to receive its "independence" from the military soon).

The ministries in charge of the police are the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Police and Emergency Response. The Tolmakian Homeland Police (DHF) are usually in charge of bringing law and order to the civilian population. The police also has other branches such as the Tolmakian Homeland Air Police (DHAF), the Reud Fulechi (Riot Police) and the Republican Investigating Division (RED, counterpart of the FBI).

In July 15 after suffering underfunding, police funding was improved and updated. After the funding and training of the police and its new recruits, crime rates were reduced by 43% almost immediately. The coast guard (a branch of the navy) is responsible for patrolling the coasts and waters of Tolmakia for the police. The police is also partially responsible for emergency response or its assistance.

The Nician Civil Police are a branch of the military police , they are typically armed with a laser pistol, a stun baton and a sonic stunner. They are authorized to access any military armory should they need heavier weapons than this.

Their uniform consists of a standard issue army uniform and body armor with the smart cloth set to black.

Their usual method of transport is grav cars or grav cycles.

Our police forces are extensive (full factbook here) but the crown of it is the Interdictors.

These guys don't screw around. They're trained to have no mercy and are only deployed when all else fails and the SDF is too far away. These are elite counterterrorist soldiers who will kick the arse of anyone who dares annoy them by behaving too terrorist-y.

The OS law enforcement community is made up of multiple local Sheriff's departments and city police departments, supplemented by the National Bureau of Investigation. The most common firearms are the Colt Model 1911 (1911 through 1989), and the HK45 (present).

I find it rather amusing that people are determined to post armaments before even elaborating on the institutional structure of their respective police forces, which is likely more permanent and relevant for NS purposes.

Police forces are provided at the state level, and thus we have 532 police forces as of this moment; their primary duties are public peacekeeping and to aid in emergencies. Because of the relatively low population density in this nation, large riots are unlikely to form in a short space of time.

"Police" in the People's Republic of Samozniy Russia have been mostly replaced with state-organised paramilitary groups raised from reservists. This was in response to the increasingly negative public perception of police, amidst widespread allegations of corruption, abuse, torture and extrajudicial killings.

Specialist police units, such as counter-terror, road traffic, air traffic, transportation, drug enforcement etc have been retained.
This same reshuffling brought all "policing" forces in the Republic under military command, funding sources and equipment procurement procedures, a move widely condemned at the time, but paramilitaries as beat officers have been popularly received.

The average paramilitary is equipped with the Type-1 Service Rifle. This weapon is distinct from the People's Standing Army service rifle, also known as the Type-1 (more popularly termed the Doberman, or officially the AV-97).
Image
The Type-1 was built in two main versions, the Type-1 and Type-2. The weapon was designed for paramilitary and reserve use and was heavily stockpiled in its Type-2 configuration. The Type-2 family of rifles was designed to be built rapidly and crudely from available parts, and notably misses finish, furniture, controls and features on the refined Type-1, which shares some rapid design features.

The Type-1 and Type-2 were meant to be secretly stockpiled, but the mass introduction of the paramilitaries forced the outing of the weapon system into the public.
Paramilitaries typically wear distinctive OD Green battle dress and a lightly-armoured stab and bullet-resistant vest. Webbing contains loaded magazines, loose ammunition, basic policing materials and canteen and ration.

The People's Militia is the organization responsible for the nation's security: It handles territorial defense, civilian policing, search and rescue and the emergency services, among other things.

It's divided in four Corps: Combat Forces, Security Forces, Emergency Forces and the Reserve Administration, coordinated by Militia High Command. It is a democratic organization with elected officers, with civilian control and troop support provided by Political Officers. In normal circunstances (no State of Emergency) the Security Forces are controlled at the level of the constituent republics, guaranteeing the State Soviets control over their own security forces: The Combat Forces and the Reserve Administration are federalized.

Militia Cadets.
Image

Compared with other security forces they're heavily armed, carrying truncheons, tasers, combat gloves and either a combat shotgun or an assault rifle. Combat Forces and the Action Groups of the Security Forces also have serious body armor. Its police powers are limited: They're designed for a peacekeeping role as a force-in-being. They will pursue crimes they personally witness and they will respond to calls for help (usually very fast), but criminal investigation and the custody/interrogation of detainees are handled by the People's Commission for Justice, and counterterrorism and the defense of the revolution are handled by the intelligence services.

We are a relatively small nation, so we have one centralised police force, the Landenspolitik (national police). You are most likely to see them when they pull over someone on the motorway for violating one of our many traffic laws. Standard equipment consists of radios, bodycams, handcuffs, and batons. Most police do not carry a firearm on their person, as the risk of getting shot is virtually zero. However, they do carry guns in their cars for emergencies, and we have teams of trained firearms officers if needed.

Each County has it's own constabulary which are all ran by a chief constable. The police stations generally have an interrogation room and a basement prison.

Policeman carry a single action army revolver or a desert eagle, they are all armed with a tazer, pepper spray and a set of handcuffs. The armed police carry either a SPAS 12 shotgun or M4 assault rifle. Police marksmen generally carry a sharpshooter rifle. Riot Police have truncheons and riot shields and also wear heavier, more robust body armour as opposed to a standard flak jacket as they also have fire resistant clothing and protective helmets as well as tear gas grenades and water cannons.

The police wear paramilitary uniforms. Policemen do sometimes wear normal clothes to blend in with locals. They generally drive in Jaguars or Aston Martins and other British cars.

Police services are provided by counties and cities. There is no federal police besides the military. The most common cars used in police departments are Ford Crown Victorias, Dodge Chargers, and Ford F-150s. Police officers are typically equipped with a handgun, taser, handcuffs, pepper spray, radios, batons, flashlights and a bullet proof vest.

The typical rank structure for a county police department is as follows

Sheriff - Oversees entire police department
Captain - Oversees police districts within the county
Lieutenant - Oversees divisions within districts
Sergeant - Supervisory rank
Officer - Law enforcement
