Tian Zhengguo Crisis ( Atheon only/IC )

Postby Tian Zhengguo » Thu Jul 31, 2014 2:15 pm

History of the Conflict

Tian Zhengguo had been a nation semi-isolated from the outside world until a about four decades ago, when the reign of Emperor Zuihou, the last emperor, began. With Zuihou's
lead, the massive nation of Tian Zhengguo modernized its military, opened trade to the outside world and started creating an industry. The industry was centered in the North, with
90% of the factories in Manchuria, even though the rich, but still small, mining industry was situated in the West. Trade was centered in the larger coastal cities and Beijing.
As the West was occupied by desert and mountains and the North was consumed by the factories of Manchuria, agriculture was concentrated in the central and Southern parts.

Middle aged Emperor Zuihou spent a luxurious life in the Forbidden Palace, Beijing, while looking at his large Empire flourish. While many had opposed completely westernizing and opening to the
outside world, Zuihou had used his large army to put down any opposition, and the army was now spread all over the vast Empire. Trade brought tons of money to Tian Zhengghuo, a nation
rich in natural resources. The industry was growing rapidly, and plans to expand it outside Manchuria were made. A completely new thing called tourism was also growing, the vast Empire had
many great places these foreign people were interested in. Then in a matter of days, everything changed.

Emperor Zuihou was touring the province of Yunnan. After the visit, Emperor Zuihou got a fever. It was expected to go away soon, but the Emperor's condition worsened.
After a while, Zuihou stopped attending state meetings, and only the Imperial Doctors were allowed to see him. Zhenggu healthcare system (and the Doctors in the Forbidden city) hadn't caught up with the rest of
the world yet, because Zuihou hadn't been interested in it (one of his flaws perhaps?). When the Imperial Doctors in Beijing realized they didn't know what to do, they decided to ask for help. When the rest of the government
realized the gravity of the situation, the incompetent doctors were fired and replaced with new ones. The disease was identified, but Zhengguo didn't yet possess the needed medical equipment to
do anything about it. After this embarrassment, the whole healthcare was revamped and modernized. The people of Zhengguo celebrated, but the Emperor was looking even worse.
When the Emperor finally died (it is not known was it the disease or something else), various factions and groups had been plotting for a long time already.
Three weeks after Zuihou's death, a large group of armed individuals rose up against the government. While the rebels now called the Greater Shanghai Clique organized their forces and took control of Shanghai,
the government in Beijing struggled with internal problems ( partially resulted by the modernization progress), eventually leading in the dissolution of the Army HQ.
The various spread-out parts of the army were left without orders, and in many places the soldiers sided with the future rebels.

The death of the childless Emperor left a large power vacuum in Beijing, and when Shanghai revolted, things started going downhill for good. After dissolution of most of the army structure,
the Socialist Democrats and Communists staged a coup d'etat and overthrew the monarchy (even though legally it's still an Empire, as there was no official change in government type,
the Socialist are ruling as a regency council). By then, Shanghai had organized rebels all over the country, and when winter came, a massive rebellion against the government in Beijing
was started. The remaining army forces (who were still loyal to the legal government) started retreating towards Beijing while fighting the rebels in their best ability. The Social Democrats (SD),
who by now had eradicated their former allies the communists, organized their remaining forces and decided to focus on defeating the rebels in Manchuria. After Manchuria, it was planned
to assault Korea, but to the SDs surprise, Shanghai had already occupied Jinan and was now heading towards Beijing. Korea was forgotten, and all SD forces were concentrated on Beijing.
After a series of battles, SDs defeated Shanghai in the Fourth Battle of Beijing. A truce was signed and Tian Zhengguo got to keep the areas it controlled, while Shanghai got to keep
most of the country. After two days, however, other rebel leaders started demanding various areas for themselves, and the rebels started fighting amongst themselves,
finally resulting in the borders we see today.

Overview

A few years have passed, and the various factions have been internally stabilized. Tian Zhengguo applied for Atheon membership, and now has brought the issue to Atheon.
Due to pressure from Atheon, Tian Zhengguo has agreed to hold a conference at Beijing to try and find a peaceful solution to the Crisis. Sir Guangtou, the de facto ruler of Tian Zhengguo,
has been able to convince the various faction leaders to attend the conference.

Tian Zhengguo (red) - The de jure owner of the whole region. They host the conference and their representative is Sir Guangtou.

The Greater Shanghai Clique (blue) - The past rebellions leader, does not think it needs outside help. Representative is Minister Guo Wei

Kingdom of Youshi (green) - A small state in the center of the region, will mostly likely fall first if the war continues. Representative is King Saiji

Western Confederation (purple) - The largest, but least populated faction. Doesn't care about expanding further, but sees Shanghai as a threat. Representative is Governor of Tibet Palden Norbu

New Canton Clique (orange) - The Southernmost faction, barely interested in the war, does not seek to expand, wishes to further trade with members of Atheon. Representative is President Huang Mao

South Korea (South Korea :P) - The smallest and most unimportant faction, wishes only to get North Korea, might turn to even Tian Zhengguo for support. Doesn't deserve a representative, but representative is Diplomat Dae-Jung

OOC Crap

I never thought the history part would be so long lol :P I'll contunue with the rest of stuff tomorrow. I'll put the maps in here as well.
This probably has mistakes, please point them out.

This map gives a better picture about the nations sizes, but obviously has no other use http://postimg.org/image/a7i1hmmbn/

Beijing

Sir Guangtou had somehow agreed to hold this conference, though he did it reluctantly. The small air force of Tian Zhengguo was patrolling the airspace above Beijing, as the representatives of various countries were arriving to Beijing.
The faction leaders were already there, and everyone else were supposed to arrive in a few hours. Sir Guangtou shook his head and snorted, while various representatives of different countries were arriving to this peace conference,
machine guns, grenades, mines, tanks and such were shipped near Beijing to arm the Army, just in case this "peace conference" would fail (Guangtou was 1000000% sure it would fail), Tian Zhengguo would have to use it's military strength to
"restore order" in the region. Battle plans were already drawn, and Guangtou was sure the other faction leaders were doing the same.

The conference would be held in the the Forbidden City, and the visitors would've had to walk half a mile through the enormous entrance, but it would have been considered rude, so the representatives would get to experience the largest palace in the world from a car (this is to intimidate the representatives, the size of the Forbidden City is supposed to show off Tian Zhengguo's wealth and power). Military personnel from Atheon would be handling the security obviously.
Guangtou had prepared armored cars for the representatives just in case, but all other aspects of security were handled by the internationa community?/Atheon.
Guangtou endered the Conference Room and sat on one of the many chairs around a long antique table. The room was decorated western style and the kitchen was "armed" with anything
the representatives might want, even to just demonstrate Tian Zhengguo's wealth. The Room was tense and quiet, and the six faction leaders stared at each other with cold and emotionless
faces.

Populations and some information in the army sizes, Will add army sizes later

The army sizes can be otherwise be counted from the populations, but there are a few things to consider:

First, Tian Zhengguo has a bit larger army,
because of the leftovers from the whole regions army, their army is also the best quality for the same reason. They are also most western, because
they have the capital of the whole region, and most of the industry, that also gives them a little advantage in army size.
Greater Shanghai Clique is by far the largest faction in population, but their military strength is near Tian Zhengguo, because Shanghai still
lacks a real naval and air force, which can of course be corrected by a western ally. Shanghai Land Army, though largest in the region by size,
only has a small number of professional soldiers, most of them are conscripts or peasant militia. Shanghain economy relies on trade in the few
western coastal cities, and mostly agriculture, industry is nonexistent, though steadily growing (the Crisis began only a few years ago, the industry hasn't got time
to grow.)
New Canton Clique is number two in population, number three in industry and military, and perhaps number one in trade.
Their army's weaponry is very western due to trade, and trade also bring them most of their income, though agriculture is still
number one "employer". Canton is not interested in expansion and actively trades with the other factions, but Canton still is ready
to attack it's neighbors if they become too powerful. Canton also has a small navy as plus.
Youshi is about the same size in population as Tian Zhengguo. However, Youshi is landlocked very poor, and the economy is
fully dependent on agriculture. The army gets all of it's (low quality) weapons from Canton.
The Western Confederation is large and rich in natural resources. The population is small, but the industry is (due to mining) the second
largest in the region. The army is on par with Youshi, but smaller. Western Confederation is only interested in growing its industry, but still
sees Shanghai as a threat, and could take military action against Shanghai, or Tian Zhengguo if they expand.

Basically, Tian Zhengguo, Shanghai and Canton are the big three, if you're interested in natural resources Western Confederation might
be your thing (oil is also found from there). Youshi is pretty useless, though agriculture and poverty can be found, and South Korea is South Korea,
though it might become a strategically important location.

Region of Tian Zhengguo, 1,218,000,000

Western Confederation - 57,000,000

Youshi - 192,000,000

Tian Zhengguo - 195,000,000

Greater Shanghai Clique - 409,000,000

New Canton Clique - 315,000,000

South Korea - 50,000,000

Beijing

Anthony was slightly nervous, just slightly, he was going to a country with almost two hundred million people, and that country was so far away, too.
When his Royal Jet Albert I landed on Beijing airport, he was much more calm. When the armored car stopped besides the Forbidden City's Gate of Divine Might,
Anthony gulped. He watched the humongous gate with awe, even the architecture was so foreign to him. "Your Highness, it's time to switch cars." Anthony turned to his
driver with a questioning look. "We are riding with a small jeep inside the City, there is a half mile journey trough the Gates to the Conference Room."
Anthony had read about this supposedly largest palace in the world, and it seemed like they hadn't been kidding. "How intriguing. But still, I'd like to walk,
and tour the Palace, there's still an hour or two, right?" The driver nodded. "This way Your Highness, the first gate is the Gate of....."

After his hour-long quick tour of the City, Anthony finally entered the Conference Room. It was almost empty. "Oh, are we too early?" Anthony questioned
the driver. "There's still an hour left, Your Highness." Anthony nodded and turned around to face the Room. His eyes met with an older Zhenggu's eyes.
The old man walked closer and extended his hand for a handshake. "Welcome to Beijing, I am Sir Guangtou, and you are?" Anthony shook the old man's hand
"Pleasure to meet you, I am King Anthony van Endracht en Priasch." The old man nodded, and Anthony went on to greet the others.

Beijing

The Imperial Embassy in Beijing was built in the fashion of Emperian architecture, with emphasis on details and beauty to complement complete functionality. The Embassy was three stories tall, and domed with a low, glass dome with a small statue of Aesa, the Old God of Diplomacy and Discourse. Now the Empire was atheistic, despite a significant amount of people still holding some traditional reverence to the Old Gods. Though it was more to keep with tradition than any act of faith.

Ambassador Erich Tymenheim sat in his quaint office on the third floor, a glass wall acted as the window to the outside world with a small balcony. His secretary sat outside his office and off the left. Her name was Illa, from the small village of Deinegen in the eastern regions of the Empire. Erich was an urbanite, born and raised in Imperia though his family hearkens from the Northern coastal town of Stralzund.

Ambassador Tymenheim was 33 years old, Illa was 26 and a good worker whom could go far; though, Tymenheim looked at her and saw his wife Emelle. Emelle was vacationing in the Imperial Pacific Colonies and worked for the Reichspezialwaffe (Reich Special Weapons) Department and attached to the overall Imperial Experimental Weapons Division under the Oberkommando der Reichswehr. His daughter Ingrid was with her, and he cast his gaze at the small picture on his desk of them.

Pressing a small comm on his desk he spoke, "Illa, if you could be so kind to get me a beer before we depart for the conference." He didn't need the beer to be honest, but it helped calm his nerves and steady his mind for the task at hand. He knew things in this region of the globe where tumultuous, and he knew his family didn't feel good about his current assignment. His daughter went even so far to write a letter to the Emperor, Brandyn I von Valeria, and to her surprise he replied. Stating that every precaution was underway to make sure her father was safe.

Today though, he still felt nervous. The Embassy was safe, to him it was the safest place to be. The reinforced windows and building frame, the bunkers on each floor and platoon of Waffen-RSS Guards armed for low intensity conflict patrolled and garrisoned the building.

As his secretary walked in with the chilled beer he took it in thanks, taking a ship and feeling the perfect mix of hops and careful flavoring.

"The car is ready Sir." said Illa and gathering his briefcase he got up and walked out with Illa trailing behind carrying a second briefcase and some of the Ambassadors personal effects.

The car was armored and the windows reinforced. The driver was armed in combat gear and a member of the Waffen-RSS. A second Waffen-RSS guard sat in the passenger seat and another pair followed on a motorcycle with a sidecar. He knew Leutnant Julius was in the Security room of the embassy with several other security guards that would monitor traffic and potential threats through satellite imaging.

As the engine revved and the motorcycle behind started Erich got into the limo. Illa followed and sat next to him. In a minute the limo was off, and closing on the Forbidden City.

Postby Nouveau Aquitaine » Mon Aug 04, 2014 7:59 am

Ambassador Anaïs Courvoisier arrived in Beijing with her ambassadorial delegation two days before the conference was scheduled to start. Unlike her top aide, Earl Edward Muller, she was not a noble, but had spent the last ten years in the Aquitanian foreign service after retiring from the Navy due to a health condition (Captain Anaïs Courvoisier had once been in command of HMS Inspire based out of Hong Kong, and in that capacity had been present in the Chinese region and responsible for keeping Aquitanian trade as safe as possible).

Her mission was simple: use Nouveau Aquitaine's position to prevent fighting between the potential warring sides, keep world trade safe, and be a positive influence towards a permanent political solution. In the absence of a perfect outcome, her mission becomes far more complicated, but that is currently not foremost in her mind.

At the moment, however, her objective is to posit herself as an honest broker between the potential warring sides and retain credibility. Backed by Nouveau Aquitaine's Pacific Navy, based largely in Singapore, and its role as a guarantor of trade between East Asia and the rest of the world, and the role that Hong Kong and Singapore both play in world financial transactions, she believes she has some leverage to work with that if combined with a reputation for good faith might actually allow the Aquitani to do some good.
