History of the Conflict
Tian Zhengguo had been a nation semi-isolated from the outside world until a about four decades ago, when the reign of Emperor Zuihou, the last emperor, began. With Zuihou's
lead, the massive nation of Tian Zhengguo modernized its military, opened trade to the outside world and started creating an industry. The industry was centered in the North, with
90% of the factories in Manchuria, even though the rich, but still small, mining industry was situated in the West. Trade was centered in the larger coastal cities and Beijing.
As the West was occupied by desert and mountains and the North was consumed by the factories of Manchuria, agriculture was concentrated in the central and Southern parts.
Middle aged Emperor Zuihou spent a luxurious life in the Forbidden Palace, Beijing, while looking at his large Empire flourish. While many had opposed completely westernizing and opening to the
outside world, Zuihou had used his large army to put down any opposition, and the army was now spread all over the vast Empire. Trade brought tons of money to Tian Zhengghuo, a nation
rich in natural resources. The industry was growing rapidly, and plans to expand it outside Manchuria were made. A completely new thing called tourism was also growing, the vast Empire had
many great places these foreign people were interested in. Then in a matter of days, everything changed.
Emperor Zuihou was touring the province of Yunnan. After the visit, Emperor Zuihou got a fever. It was expected to go away soon, but the Emperor's condition worsened.
After a while, Zuihou stopped attending state meetings, and only the Imperial Doctors were allowed to see him. Zhenggu healthcare system (and the Doctors in the Forbidden city) hadn't caught up with the rest of
the world yet, because Zuihou hadn't been interested in it (one of his flaws perhaps?). When the Imperial Doctors in Beijing realized they didn't know what to do, they decided to ask for help. When the rest of the government
realized the gravity of the situation, the incompetent doctors were fired and replaced with new ones. The disease was identified, but Zhengguo didn't yet possess the needed medical equipment to
do anything about it. After this embarrassment, the whole healthcare was revamped and modernized. The people of Zhengguo celebrated, but the Emperor was looking even worse.
When the Emperor finally died (it is not known was it the disease or something else), various factions and groups had been plotting for a long time already.
Three weeks after Zuihou's death, a large group of armed individuals rose up against the government. While the rebels now called the Greater Shanghai Clique organized their forces and took control of Shanghai,
the government in Beijing struggled with internal problems ( partially resulted by the modernization progress), eventually leading in the dissolution of the Army HQ.
The various spread-out parts of the army were left without orders, and in many places the soldiers sided with the future rebels.
The death of the childless Emperor left a large power vacuum in Beijing, and when Shanghai revolted, things started going downhill for good. After dissolution of most of the army structure,
the Socialist Democrats and Communists staged a coup d'etat and overthrew the monarchy (even though legally it's still an Empire, as there was no official change in government type,
the Socialist are ruling as a regency council). By then, Shanghai had organized rebels all over the country, and when winter came, a massive rebellion against the government in Beijing
was started. The remaining army forces (who were still loyal to the legal government) started retreating towards Beijing while fighting the rebels in their best ability. The Social Democrats (SD),
who by now had eradicated their former allies the communists, organized their remaining forces and decided to focus on defeating the rebels in Manchuria. After Manchuria, it was planned
to assault Korea, but to the SDs surprise, Shanghai had already occupied Jinan and was now heading towards Beijing. Korea was forgotten, and all SD forces were concentrated on Beijing.
After a series of battles, SDs defeated Shanghai in the Fourth Battle of Beijing. A truce was signed and Tian Zhengguo got to keep the areas it controlled, while Shanghai got to keep
most of the country. After two days, however, other rebel leaders started demanding various areas for themselves, and the rebels started fighting amongst themselves,
finally resulting in the borders we see today.
Overview
A few years have passed, and the various factions have been internally stabilized. Tian Zhengguo applied for Atheon membership, and now has brought the issue to Atheon.
Due to pressure from Atheon, Tian Zhengguo has agreed to hold a conference at Beijing to try and find a peaceful solution to the Crisis. Sir Guangtou, the de facto ruler of Tian Zhengguo,
has been able to convince the various faction leaders to attend the conference.
Tian Zhengguo (red) - The de jure owner of the whole region. They host the conference and their representative is Sir Guangtou.
The Greater Shanghai Clique (blue) - The past rebellions leader, does not think it needs outside help. Representative is Minister Guo Wei
Kingdom of Youshi (green) - A small state in the center of the region, will mostly likely fall first if the war continues. Representative is King Saiji
Western Confederation (purple) - The largest, but least populated faction. Doesn't care about expanding further, but sees Shanghai as a threat. Representative is Governor of Tibet Palden Norbu
New Canton Clique (orange) - The Southernmost faction, barely interested in the war, does not seek to expand, wishes to further trade with members of Atheon. Representative is President Huang Mao
South Korea (South Korea ) - The smallest and most unimportant faction, wishes only to get North Korea, might turn to even Tian Zhengguo for support. Doesn't deserve a representative, but representative is Diplomat Dae-Jung
