He needed an heir.
The first child of the Void was Navitas, an omniscient being with complete influence and control over all of energy and time. The Void charged his only son with rooting out energy that had leaked from other dimensions into his domain, the young god eagerly accepted his task and obediently destroyed energy where it may appear throughout the domain of the void. This marks the end of the Forgotten Era and the start of the Era of Gods.
Every child must reach an age of rebellion and disobedience, such was no different with the Void's own child, tired of only destroying energy, Navitas attempted the utterly unthinkable and greatest act of rebellion the Void knew of. Navitas attempted to create. Navitas created a small blue ball of pure energy and light, many times smaller than an atom. The Void instantly suspected something was wrong, his pure world has a blemish, a hideous abomination of creation. The Void attempted to consume this small orb, when he attempted Navitas willed the orb to burst. Obeying it's master, the orb exploded in a violent array of color and gas, the Void reeled in pain, it screamed in pain as matter overtook every corner of itself. Effectively killing it. Navitas had slain the Void itself.
Alone in the Universe Navitas took to toying with his abilities, speeding up time when it seemed to bore him, and slowing it down when something had interested him. As the Universe expanded as did the loneliness Navitas experienced in his time ruling all that once was his creator's domain. So, he had done what his father did, and created more gods like him, each with the power to control one aspect of nature or another, none quite as powerful as he. Thus, the pantheon was set, and they each became wardens of the Universe.
Fearing for his new young brothers and sisters in the early and extremely chaotic universe, Navitas took it upon himself to create a paradise where all gods could be protected from the violent randomness of the world sparked from nothingness. As the gods learned to master their aspects assigned to them by Navitas, they became ever enthralled with the universe and eager to explore it's wonders.
One of the wonders reared it's head on a lone world orbiting a giant red star. Over the many years of this rock's existence, it slowly grew liquid water upon it's surface. With liquid water, arose the first plants. The gods took extreme interest in the natural processes of this world, some able to force those processes to bend to their will. Controlling plants and animals to their every whim.
However, this age of curiosity and discovery was not to last for much longer, over the years a species that had achieved sentience grew to dominate the planet. The gods treated these creatures like animals, and observed them from a distance, though it soon became apparent they were not. The gods became confused, and strayed away from the intelligent species.
Fearing sentience of animals was the biggest downfall of the Gods, the race grew in technology to the point where they could destroy the very gods themselves, and when it became apparent the beings which created them would stop them from achieving universal domination, they attempted just that. Several gods were slain, narrowing the pantheon to a meager seven, however, humanity was stopped in their heinous efforts to crush the gods. Such marked the start of the Godmarked Era.
Unable to fully destroy life on Zitoal and unable to prevent it from becoming conscious, the gods agreed upon a solution. They would mark one creature on the planet with their holy symbol, giving them divine power to stop the Zitoal from advancing any farther on the technological tree. The creature and god would gain a neurological bond, both being able to communicate with one another psychologically. The more destruction the Godmarked created, the more they were rewarded with better abilities. However, many of the power-craved Godmarked wanted even more power than that of which was given to them, so, many seized control of entire kingdoms and empires for themselves.
Over time, industry spread throughout Zitoal like a wildfire, in an effort to stop the progress, the gods created a plague that is spreading rapidly all across the realm. Men and women, tired of the oppressive Godmarked ruling above them are beginning revolutions across several nations. Greed and anger has driven the Kings and Queens of the realm to declare war on oneanother, plunging the continent into a bloody and violent crusade. Several cultists are threatening to unleash the gates of a Hellish domain long forgotten unto the world. In these chaotic times, who will rise to glory? Who shall find their way into obscurity? Who will be the savior of this world? Who shall bring about it's downfall?
Either way, whatever these beings do now, will effect Zitoal for the rest of existence.

Greetings all, welcome to Godmarked, an RP I hope will not completely fade into obscurity and quickly die due to lack of interest. Anyway, characters will be taking the role of a God (first five who apply), Godmarked, or simply a mere mortal as you try to progress your characters sneaky personal goals. The bulk of the RP will take place on a continent of Zitoal known as Brandor. Brandor is home to several ingenious races of varying looks and skills, but is on thin ice, many of the people are sick of their oppressive Godmarked rulers and are threatening revolts, foreign relations across the continent are at an all time low, automations are slowly gaining self-awareness, and a mysterious arena hosting gladiator fights appeared just of the cost. Strange times we live in, indeed.
Brandor is a continent home to several nations that players (not Gods) can take control of should they wish to. Industry has spread far across the land, with fancy tesla-coils and other items along those lines dotting every city street. Far warning, don't breathe too deeply there, you may die.
Races
There are multiple races across Brandor, and most are not the stereotypical elf, dwarf, ogre, or troll either. These are the hardened and unique species that one can only think of in the mind of a madman (or me, in this case) each have their own unique set of skills and traits, as well as setbacks, so I'd advise you to choose wisely.
However, if none of these races tickle your fancy, try creating your own by filling out the app below, if I like it enough, i'll add it to the main list of species.

As well as being able to make their own species, certain players will be able to control Gods! These will be the first seven to apply for gods and be accepted, once we have seven, we have our pantheon. I will play as the Supreme Creator, or Navitas, the one mentioned repeatedly in the backstory and creator of the other gods and the heavens. Controlling all of energy basically means I have some sort of influence in basically everything, anyway, the gods are divided into three different classes.

GOD APP
So, here we come to it finally, the moment some of you have been waiting for! The character app. Now, as a character, you can select if you want to be Godmarked or not, but if you do I cannot guarantee you'll get a super-cool set of powers that fits with your character's theme. It's whichever god replies to your accepted application and gives your set of powers, remember gods, you're trying to prevent an uprising from the races of Zitoal from killing you by picking the most destructive people you can find. Remember that. So I really don't want to see someone pure of heart being picked to be Godmarked, if you want to be a hero, you have to be mortal.

As well as being able to apply to be a mortal, Godmarked, or god, one will get to apply to own their own little piece of Brandor, isn't that amazing? I think it is. Nations will have to deal with no allies right of the bat and being at the starts of a brutal war that will engulf the land. Fun, right?
