The Avatar (master of all 4 elements) Vs. the Dragonborn

Postby United States of Natan » Thu Jun 26, 2014 8:03 pm

After playing skyrim while watching a few old episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender, This question came to mind: who do you think would win in a fight, the Avatar, or the dragonborn?

Personally, I would have to go with the Avatar. a no brainer, really. A fully realized Avatar has access to not only the control of Water, Earth, Fire, and Air, but access to virtually unlimited sources of spiritual and cosmic energy as well. He could lift an entire lake, sever entire cities from the rest of the surrounding land, even break off whole peninsulas. All the Dragonborn can do use use a few dragon shouts, that, in comparison to the abilities of the avatar, are relatively weak. The Avatar can easily block, counter, or redirect any fire or frost breath shout, and possibly even unrelenting force. He could then drown and crush him under an ocean, close him in a giant crevice, or more, even still untold abilities with energybending. so, my money would be on the Avatar.
Then it's a lie. Everything Fox News says is a lie.

But the Dragonborn has something more powerful than anything the Avatar has.

I love Skyrim, but I also love Avatar. I have to say, they're both pretty equally matched.

Dovahkiin has spells and shouts that control the elements and so much more, whereas the Avatar has to stick with just bending elements.

But, the dragonborn's shouts are actually pretty weak, especially compared to the Avatar. the Avatar may not have shouts or spells, but he does have all 4 elements, metalbending, bloodbending (if need be), healing, and energybending, all of which are far more powerful alone than the dragonborn's shouts. and you forget, the Avatar can use airbending to counter/block/evade Unrelenting Force, waterbending to counter or block against Ice form or frost breath or frost magic, lighting redirection to counter storm call or lightning magic, and firebending to counter fire breath or fire magic, as well the Avatar State to override bend will (if it could even affect him), and likely could use these abilities to counter other magic the dragonborn throws at the Avatar. and as for weapons, the likelihood that the dragonborn could manage to pull a weapon on the Avatar and get close enough to him to use it or or shoot an arrow at him is slim, with the Avatar's airbending and other forms of bending. The Avatar could easily use metalbending to warp a sword, axe, or mace into scrap metal, as well as destroy a bow. And don't forget, the Avatar State infinitely augments the Avatar's bending, to the point where even challenging the Avatar would be a death sentence. I mean, with the Avatar State, an entire peninsula can be separated from the mainland, and moved miles out to sea. entire armies, and entire navies have been decimated by the Avatar. An entire glacier was once split open and then closed by the Dark Avatar. You think the dragonborn can overcome all this? His shouts, by themselves, are actually quite weak, at least compared to the Avatar. He couldn't shout an entire navy to pieces, or kill an entire army just with one shout. His abilities could certainly be withstood by the Avatar, who essentially has the ability to counter many of them. Plus, I bet energybending could weaken the dragonborn by energybending his dragon souls away. Regardless, he wouldn't stand a chance against a fully realized Avatar.

If the Avatar has the whole "no killing mentality" they aren't going to last long against the Dragonborn.

We are not talking any specific avatar, or personality. simply the Avatar, and the Dragonborn, if the two were in a fight.

simple, the avatar freezes the dragonborn before he can do anything. sneak is useless against the avatar, especially in the avatar state, which can heighten an avatar's senses.

Still probably the Dragonborn on the basis all Avatars seems to hesitate killing people of a kids show while the Dragonborn loses count of the amount of people they kill.

and unless the Avatar goes into the Avatar state 24/7 they are not immune to sneak.

Doesn't matter. Eventually the Dragonborn will be killed or die of old age, whereas the Avatar just gets reincarnated, so long as they're not in the Avatar State when they die.

I don't know. Avatar Kyoshi has actually been confirmed to have caused someone's death, even in the show that is. Avatar Yangchen herself had a pretty ruthless mentality herself if I remember correctly.

I think assassination via mega-sneak would probably be the only way to actually pull it off. That's assuming avatar state isn't activated, which even then, it's a matter of catching the avatar off guard. In a 1v1 fight, I would have to side with the avatar...of course that could just be my fanatical fanboy instincts kicking in once more.

Someone already mentioned the avatar's reincarnation. I haven't played Skyrim {Execute me, I know.} but if I recall from let's plays, the dragon born isn't a complete reincarnation cycle. Someone will have to correct me on that.
