Global War on Piracy [Orbit Only][IC]

Postby Stacytopia » Tue Jun 17, 2014 7:01 am

Stacytopia was at war, not just with anyone, no, of course they had to be at war with half of the planet. But how did that happen?

Six days ago, in an attempt to sabotage the Communist influence, the Stacytopian navy had attacked multiple international cargo ships, sinking two of them. Things escalated pretty far after that. But now they were ready for the war. Their southern neighbour, Mongolia, had declared war on them too. The defense was organised:

972,091 men and women serving the military, plus 1,783,216 of the national reserve, which would take months to assemble, were called out of their barracks or homes to get ready. 443,218 of them were now positioned around the southern border. This border was more heavily fortrified than usually, hastly made MG nests were a common sight. So were freshly laid minefields, tank traps, barbed wire lines, bases and even a few hastly made airfields for STOL aircraft and helicopters. Up hill, on higher ground were multiple artillery positions amongst the border, some of them were outfitted with older cannons taken from surplus depots.

Around the rest of the coasts there was a fair amount of soldiers, up north, at the baltic strait, there were around 400,000 soldiers prepared amongs their fortrifications to make sure nobody came inside from Scandinavia.

In the south the Scandinavian blockade was being countered by a Stacytopian one to make sure none of these ships would let a troop transport slip through, up north however, the Stacytopian blockade only existed close to the Mongolian border and a fair concentration of ships at their side of the Straits' entrace. If an adversary was to attack from the north from the polar region, this would be spotted soon enough to dispatch more vessels.

All of the Stacytopian soldiers seemed to be outfitted with at least their normal gear and a gas mask, some soldiers had to get gas masks made in the 80s or even older ones, but each and every one of them seemed to have a working one in their equipment.

The soldiers spent their days waiting.

The Ocean

The Three Dolphin class Submarines were making their way to Stacytopian waters, however they could not just go straight there. They subs planned to stop at Halfordia and then at Mongolia....

Back in Svietza the 5th and 18th fleets were almost ready...

Southern Stacytopian Waters

Two Halfordian fleets made their way through the water. On the aircraft carrier, the TPS Makarov, Admiral Raskolov made his way onto the deck. He cleared his throat and yelled, "ATTENTION!", his voice boomed through the area around the ship, "Men, when you see the Stacytopian fleet, I want you to remember something. That we might be outgunned, and outclassed, but, we have people counting on us. If we don't distract the Stacytopian Navy, the northern invasion might not even make it to land. So, when you hear their cannon fire, and see their missiles, just remember. They are counting on us. Now, if they don't send reinforcements, and the northern invasion can't happen, we don't have an issue. We'll punish a hole straight through their forming blockade. And I will remind you that this is just that, a forming blockade. We just have to hold out until the Svietzan reinforcements arrive."

He was cut off by a crew member yelling, "Sir! We're approaching the forming blockade! About a klick out!"

Southern Waters

The commanding ship at this part was the SNS Bfor, a cruiser.
''Ma'am, Unknown fleet incoming!''
''Roger that, ready all weapons, crew to battle stations, call in possible ground support and... don't fire...''

Commander Katherine Long sighed, there were strict orders not to open fire first.

At this point, the fleet was 800m out. 15 battleships in the two fleets turned their guns, three on each end, broadside. They opened fire on the Stacytopian vessels with tungsten tipped slugs, each a 450mm round. After the initial volley, they began reloading, however, missiles cruisers began launching anti ship missiles. The three main aircraft carriers began launching R-35B VTOLs, which would engage any enemy planes. In the air, 10 stealth bombers flew high above the clouds, covered by R-22 fighters.

The Svietzan ships helping the Halfordians opened fire aswell, the FSS Leviathan and FSS Triumph battleships firing while the other ships launched their missiles into the air.

One ship, the FSS Zasada was at the back of the fleet firing missiles quite fast.

Also somewhat far away the 12th fleet was approaching to assist.

In Svietza the 5th and 18th fleets were also making their way to the location of the beginning battle.

Sükhbaatar Province

Mongolia, at one point, stretched from Scandinavia in the north to Svietza in the south, creating the largest empire in Orbitan history. much of the lands of modern Stacytopia were included in this empire, and the Mongolians who had first conquered these lands knew first hand how blindly aggressive and hostile the Stenzans were. Add the fact that Stacytopia was a capitalist nation, and there is even more to dislike about it. But no one believed that anyone could be so stupid as to launch acts of piracy against the newly former ComIntern. Obviously, they were wrong.

In Sükhbaatar province, the armed forces geared for a lengthy war in the Stacytopian jungles. They had conquered them before, they would conquer them again, and the only alternative would be to sit back and bog the Stacytopians down in Mongolia's impassable mountains, but even they weren't stupid enough to launch a land invasion of Mongolia, so there was no choice but invasion. At the moment, only active personnel were being deployed, with reserves standing by if needed. Combining all 365,000 men and women (including conscripts) into one field army, the Mongolia People's Army planned for the air force to establish dominance in the skies above Stacytopia, and make a clear line straight to the Stacytopian capital, as the ground forces swooped in, capturing every city along the way, until finally reaching, laying siege to, and capturing the city and the vile woman who sat on the capitalist throne of Stacytopia.

Even the jungles of Stenza would not protect her from the Mongolian grasp, for they planned to turn the people against her, and bring a Socialist utopia to Stenza, and free the Stenzan people from their chains, encouraging them to rise up against their vile greedy government. If the Stenzans could be turned against their 'empress', then the war could be won within a month. The Mongolian Air Force prepared for it's planned assault on Stacytopia, as the ground forces prepared for their upcoming campaign. Meanwhile, the navy was preparing to be launched to begin naval engagements against the Stacytopians alongside the Svietzans and the Halfordians, although their ballistic missile subs, landing craft, and reserve ships would stay behind and remain on high alert. This would be a war long remembered, no matter the outcome.

  • Army - 365,000 personnel(including conscripts)
  • Air Force - 160,000 personnel
  • Navy - 133,000 personnel
  • Total Manpower - 658,000

  • Aircraft Carriers - 1
  • Heavy Missile Cruisers - 1
  • Cruisers - 4
  • Destroyers - 13
  • Cruise Missile Submarines - 6
  • Nuclear Attack Submarines - 15
  • Conventional Attack Submarines - 18
  • Frigates - 4
  • Corvettes - 74
  • Total Watercraft - 136

Khentii Mountains, Mongolia-Stacytopia Border

The Khentii mountains were one of the three mountain ranges surrounding and securing Mongolia and it's borders. They were almost impassable, with only a few routes capable of sustaining vehicles. The many footpaths were dangerous, even for yak herders and other mountain dwellers. The mountains have been a source of defense against foreign invaders for centuries, considered the natural walls of Mongolia. Mongolia troops hiked down the mountains as the sun began to set, equipped with night vision goggles and gas masks, just in case. They slowly made their way down into Stenzan territory, their bayonets fixed and ready for anything.

"Remember to get ready to switch to your gas masks if necessary, keep your flashlights off and your bayonets fixed. We have to be prepared for anything. The capitalists are a dirty bunch who will use any destructive means possible to pursue their goals."

The soldiers slowly descended into Stenzan territory as night fell. The sun fell as the moon had risen, and the Mongolian ground forces were now in hostile territory, prepared to take on whatever the enemy had planned for them. Tank columns gathered in the mountain passes, preparing to swoop in when ready, while attack helicopters and ground attack aircraft stood by to provide air support.

Stacytopian side of the Khentii Mountains

The Mongolian Soldiers were seen by a group of 12 guards sitting around a poorly made MG nest, one of the men, the Sergeant, was wearing his NV goggles and spotted them.
''Banana!''
Of course, the Mongolians didn't reply with ''Payama''. The soldiers ran towards their weapons and took cover, the DShKM machine gun opened fire into their general direction with tracer rounds once every 5 bullets.

Choibalsan Naval Base, Choibalsan

"Captain Neskovo, this is Choibalsan Naval Base, you have permission to dock and refuel."

Shadow of the Khentii Mountains

"Banana!"

They heard it clear as day, and stopped, ensure where it came from.

"What was that?"

They whispered, as silence took to the air for a few moments.

Suddenly, they heard gun fire and ran for cover.

"Take cover!"

The Stacytopians had begun open firing with tracer rounds, bullets specifically made to help with aiming and precision. Unfortunately for the Stacytopians, tracer rounds work both ways. The troops, even without night vision goggles, could tell exactly where the shots came from and began returning fire, as heavy as possible, using normal rounds. Aiming down the sights of their AK-74's and AKM's. They made sure to fire in short bursts, through their iron sights, take cover for a few minutes, then fire again to make sure they conserved ammo, had increased accuracy, and made sure not to stay out in the open for too long.

The problem was, good cover, or just cover in general, was scarce. A few fallen trees, small ditches, short hills, and shrubbery weren't much in terms of cover, but the Mongolian soldiers were forced to work with what they had.

Scandinavian Blockade:

"Admiral," said one of the officers on the bridge, "the Stacian fleet appears to be, at shortest distance, one kilometer from ours. If our nation joins the war this will be a bloodbath."

"Then this bloodbath shall be turned to our favor as much as possible. I want fighter-bombers in the air for cover, and interceptors on the flight deck fully fueled and ready to be launched if the Stacians try anything. All ships in this carrier group are to be on full alert; guns loaded and ready to fire at all times. There should be Frogmen standing by at all times prepared to infiltrate enemy ships if necessary," replied the admiral, "and make sure that the other carrier groups know of this."

"At once, sir," replied to officer, relaying the information throughout the ship to those who needed to know.

Denolsk Bay Harbour

The 5th and 18th fleets were ready, however they lacked orders...but not for long.

Admiral Hashkev Ortya was ordered to bring the fleets near the land below Scandinavia and wait until further orders were given. Svietzan Fleet Command suspected that with the Stacian and Scandinavian blockades so close to each other it would only be a matter of time before they both would end up shooting at each other...

As the Mongolians shot the first gunner off the emplacement, the man with the NV goggles took his position, he continued to lay surpressing fire whilst 3 other soldiers had slipped away to try flanking the Mongolians.

Meanwhile, an FPB-52 Transport, which looked identical to the FB-52 bomber, slowly approached the Scandinavian blockade, it tried to stay away from the carriers as much as it could.

"Sir! Bomber inbound!" shouted one of the officers on the carrier. "AWACs are detecting it heading towards the blockade line."

"Send it a warning message, and make sure the pilots are ready to shoot it out of the sky if it doesn't turn back," replied the admiral.

Soon, a radio broadcast was sent out specifically aimed at the transport, "Unidentified Flying Object, you are approaching the Scandinavian Blockade Line. Turn back or you will be shot out of the sky. This is your only warning."

The pilots eyed each other inside the aircraft.
''Er... We are turning, aren't we?''
''We'll have to, Lieutenant. All of us still have the orders not to start a conflict here...''

The transport turned around and landed, but not for long. Soon it lifted off again whilst accompanied by a tanker, heading for Stravanum, then northbound over it to cross the polar area. When the tanker reached the range at which it should turn around, the transport was re-fueled, giving it a boost in it's ferry range.

"Target down!"

The machinegunner's body dropped and it ceased firing. Meanwhile, the Mongolian soldiers were still under heavy fire from the makeshift barricade, while they noticed that three other soldiers had slipped away.

"They're not retreating, they're either regrouping or flanking, either way keep your eyes peeled and watch your surroundings!"

Meanwhile, on a ridge on the Khentii mountains further back, a sniper was taking up position to provide covering fire for the troops below. He quickly spotted the soldier providing suppressing fire, and took a look through the scope of his Dragunov.

"Target sighted."

The sniper made sure to account for everything before aligning his crosshairs on the exact spot in which it would need to be aimed at in order for a successful headshot. He was hoping he'd only need to take one shot. He looked down his scope one more time, accounting for everything that would affect the bullet's trajectory, and then fired.

Behind him, more troops began to hike through the mountains, with officers attempting to get their UAZ-469's through the narrow, rocky passages with much difficulty.

The remaining soldiers got behind their cover, firing occasionally, one of them took the NV goggles and put them on. He started yelling at another soldier.
''Call in reinforcements! Now!''
The soldier used his earpiece to call in reinforcements. He got a response about a minute later.
''Position I18, keep on tight. We've got an Mi-24 patrolling the area five clocks to your east that will be with you soon.''
Meanwhile, the Mi-24 hind of Captain Alexander Posk and Second Lieutenant Jenna Kingstone got called to respond to a hostile threat up west. It was armed with a nose-mounted cannon, four missile pods and under each wingtip, two guided anti-tank rockets.

By the time the Stacytopians had called for reinforcements, 2 more squads of Mongolian soldiers appeared, and began providing support for their comrades in the field. The combined firepower managed to make it difficult for the Stacytopians to return fire without getting shot, and the added sniper support helped. The Mongolian side, however, was not without casualties, as one man had already been dropped, another another bled out after being shot by the machinegun.

Finally, having enough of this fight, one of the soldiers took out a grenade, held it for a few seconds, then lodged it over the makeshift barricade in order to kill the Stacytopians, force them to retreat, or seriously injure them.

"Grenade!"

He yelled in Mongolian, as it landed and exploded. Meanwhile, the troops spotted the enemy Hind coming in, and the soldiers were quick to react.

"Enemy helicopter incoming!"

A Mongolian soldier quickly took out his Igla-S and aimed it at the Hind, locked on to it, then fired the rocket at the incoming Hind.

''Incoming missile, deploying flares.''
The flares decoyed the Mongolian missile away. Stacytopian helicopters were usually equipped with three rounds of flares.
The Hind opened fire, Lieutenant Kingstone used thermal vision to find the Mongolians and fire the weapon whilst the pilod made a strafing run with the missiles, he turned around to try again.

The ground troops were killed by the grenade.

With the soldiers at the barricade dead, and the Hind behind them, the Mongolian soldiers made a dash for the barricade while the way was clear. Five mean had already dropped from the combined rockets and miniguns, with another injured. They quickly grabbed the mounted machinegun at the barricade and open fired on the helicopter, covering for the soldier with the Igla-S while he loaded another rocket.

Meanwhile, the sniper attempted to fire shots through the glass of the Hind's cockpit, attempting to hit the pilots. Since this was a moving target, it made it much more difficult, but the lack of wind helped the bullets trajectory.
