After several decades under communist rule, tensions between the Communist leaders of Emphillon and the people of the country reached their highest since the rise of communism in the country in 1946 after a military force opened fire on thousands of peaceful protesters in New Prague that were demanding an end to the communist regime of the country. Over one hundred protesters were killed and several hundred others were injured in the violence before the protesters fled. Similar acts had been done in the past, but never before on such a scale.
Later that day, the Premier of Emphillon, Vladimir Yorik, issued a statement to the public that any further protests against the government will face similar results and that those who perished in the violence were "traitors to the State that do not deserve any mercy."
Outraged, citizens across the country began to challenge the government. In the following weeks, police stations and labor camps were attacked by citizens and inmates alike, quickly overwhelming the guards and resulting in the release of thousands of political prisoners. The Yorik regime quickly responded by sending military forces to quell the so-called rebels.
This did not have an effect, as military forces began to break away from the Communist government and began to aid the citizens in anyway possible. By late February, nearly 70% of the Emphillonian military had defected to the democratic cause. This rouge military became the known as the Emphillonian Libertarian Army, led by decorated war hero, General Nikolai Gregrovich.
On February 23, 1992, Gregorvich officially declared war on the communist government in control of the country and soon began a campaign against the remaining Loyalist military forces.
August 7, 1993
After nearly a year and a half of fighting, the Valasky Revolution (named after the late queen of Emphillon, Isabella Valasky, who was killed by a firing squad in late 1946) was officially over after the Vladimir Yorik and his top aides were killed by a firing squad in Victory Square, where his mother and siblings were killed over 45 years before. Within a few hours after Yorik's death, the first president of New Emphillon, Yuri Borzokov, was sworn in to office.
"Today marks a new beginning in our nation's history," Borzokov spoke to the cheering crowds in Victory Square. "Never again shall the evil and corrupt ways of communism control our country. Never again shall it leave our people in eternal suffrage. Today marks the new beginning of a new Emphillon..."
August, 2014
Over two decades had passed since the end of communism in New Emphillon. Under the rule of Presidents Yuri Borzokov and Robert Wolffe, the country grew from a struggling former-communist state to a prosperous republic; the country is in a new era of reform.
However, the threat of communism still looms over the country. A year before, a top Emphillonian general, General Walther Ramses, had proceeded to use a 50 MT nuclear device to destroy a colonial city in the Ardentes continent, in order to expand communism through out the continent. Despite the damage, his plans were thwarted and his current status is unknown, though it is largely assumed that he is dead. Since then, all Emphillonian military personnel have been checked for any ties with communism or communist activities, and recruitment protocols have been changed to prevent and pro-Communists from joining the military.
In recent months, pro-Communists have made their views known all through out the country via most forms of social media. With the government cracking down on these "threats to democracy", it would appear that the stage was set for a repeat in history...
Present
The country of New Emphillon is torn apart by a new revolution. The government has been forced into exile in other portions of the country, while a new pro-Communist government stepped in to take its place. Both sides are now calling for international help in order to end this issue, once and for all...
