A Historical Analysis of Frozen

Postby Russian Socialist Soviet States » Sat Apr 19, 2014 5:04 pm

I was recently forced to watch Frozen. I decided I would focus on the historical part of it. It takes place in Norway before World War I. Arendelle in the movie is supposed to be Norway. Early in the movie, a bust of either Julius Caesar or Napoleon Bonaparte appears. It is possible the movie takes place during Napoleon's reign. Prince Hans of the Southern Isles is supposed to be King Frederick VI of Denmark. The Duke of Weselton is possibly the Kaiser of Germany. Has anyone else noticed this?

I hope they make a Frozen sequel that takes place during World War II. I can just imagine a scene like this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTsg9i6lvqU

I believe Humon, creator of the SatW comics, equated the Isles to Denmark & Weselton to Sweden, with Arendelle being Norway.

What would Hitler think of Arendelle?

Weselton is either Germany or the Holy Roman Empire.

Shouldn't arendelle be more prepared for winter?i know it was summer when all the ice and snow popped up, but it's Norway! They should be a lot more prepared for the winter then they were.

The movie probably takes place in the early 1800s in Norway.

There was also that scene where Rapunzel appeared with Flynn Rider, meaning that Tangled also must have taken place during the same time period. And there was that conspiracy theory about Anna's parents sinking in the ship and Ariel from the little mermaid appeared, saving the Danish sailor Erik.

I don't know, read this.

I never notices the busts. But with Arendelle being Norway, and S.I.s being Denmark, that was my conclusion. I'm glad I'm not the only one who analyzes movie locations.

I think Karl Rove should hold his nose during an election for a change.

I think Hitler would have sent the SS to capture Queen Elsa. He would be intrigued by her. Himmler would be even more intrigued.

Hitler would probably experiment on Elsa, give his soldiers her powers and lay waste to the UK and US.

What would the reaction of Napoleon be to Arendelle? Would he invade it?

Disney doesn't care about history as much as you think it does.

What do you think movies and books are for? People write them, not just so that others can enjoy them, but so others can analyze them, and look deeper. In addition, many people (probably including the OP) have fun looking into deeper meaning.

Yeah but generally not in children's books and movies.

Yeah but generally not in children's books and movies.

People have looked deeper into Harry Potter and other book series that children read. Why not do the same with (as much as I despise them) Disney?
