Dor Almarea[Interest, Applications, OOC]

Hello! I am just gauging interest for a Lord of the Rings-esque RP. I already have the map and applitcations ready. This would be a FanT RP. Here is what the OOC post would look like. The RP would have both a Character side, and a Nation side.

Dor Almarea is an ancient land. Once, it was a land of myth and magic, but that has faded now, and Man has ascended and other races have faded into the past. Dor Almarea has two sides to its world, the grand view of Ri, and the lowly view of Sant. Ri is the realm of kings and nations; Where wars are waged and laws are passed. Sant is the realm of travellers and legends; Where stew is served and men talk. However, the realms are not one and separate, you may find that a lowly traveller can affect the fate of kings. So now, step forth, and enter the realm of Dor Almarea.

History:
Dor Almarea was once the home of dragons and elves and fairies. Now, a majority of those have died out, as magic fades from this realm. Dor Almarea has just emerged from Anann Du, during which many were killed, and brother killed brother. Anann Du was saw empires collapse, and cities fall. The broken pieces of empires now emerge into a new age. This age of twilight may plunge once more into the darkness of Anann Du, or Dor Almarea may become a land of laughter once more.

This is a serious RP. All posts are expected to be well-written.

Magic is not a large factor in this game. Think LOTR magic if any. No fireballs and lightning strikes.

Name of Race: Orc

Appearance: Orcs are stunted creatures. Many claim they originated from Elves, who were twisted by malice and evil. The tallest stand at 5' 6", and the shortest at a measly 3". Their skin is grey, and they often clad themselves in skins of animals, and sometimes fallen foes. Their teeth grow sharp, and many Orcs sharpen them. Their eyes are pitch black, like staring into an eclipse.

Abilities: Orcs are savage beasts. They hardly organize, and when they do, it is under a tribal leader of sorts. Nonetheless, Orcs can be quite troublesome for a poorly defended town, or naive caravan. Incapable of any remarkable forgery, weapons are usually brittle, or stolen. Orcs make use of their teeth in battle as well, biting down when a foe steps to close. Orcs utterly lack any magical ability. They breed like rabbits however, and must be constantly culled.

Origins: Many say Orcs originated from a group of elves who were driven into the mountains, where they shrunk and turned grey, hidden from the sunlight. Then, one day a great chief named Bacharog organized a group of Orcs to leave the caves. When he arrived outside, he saw the splendor of the world, and was wrathful. Thus, Orcs have ever attacked those that are better than them, out of spire.
Note: Orcs are an accepted race, and will be present on the map.

Nation Application:
Name of Nation: Mycra

Location on Map: (Must be an image) This is an example, so an image will not be provided
Race present in nation: WesterMan

History: Mycra is a desert nation. They are said to have come from the FarWest, where Magic still abounds. They are a savage nation, and attack any that approach their borders and rob them. They ride elephants into war, and maintain a large fleet to raid up and down the river to their south.

Specialties: Sailing, Elephant riding, Desert warfare.

Character Application
Name: Bacharog the Butcher(deceased)

Race: Orc

Appearance: Bacharog is a tall orc, almost 5' 6". He towers over other orcs, and his skin is coal black. He wears a leather breastplate, and wields a crude sword of iron.

Backstory: Bacharog was an Orc in the Time of Darkness, when the Orcs lived still under the mountains. He convinced a group of Orcs to follow him outside. When they arrived outside, they saw a festival in a town below. Angry at the splendor of the outside world, while his kin starved in the mountains, he ran down to the town, and butchered the inhabitants. Thenceforth he was know as Bacharog the Butcher. Bacharog went on to lead great Orc raids all over the mountains, and eventually emerged from the mountains leading a great host. Bacharog led his great host to a nearby city, where he began pillaging. While pillaging, an army of Men arrived, and cut down his host. Bacharog was slain in that battle.

Abilities: Great Leader, Raider, and Swordsman

Hmm, interesting. Looks like it was worth it to subscribe to the advertisement thread.

I may have time for this, but I would have to make a race, and I have one question: are we forced to have a nation and a character? I'm not that good at nation RPing (IE: no experience), so I was just making sure before this went any further.

No, you are not required to have a nation. You can play solely Sant is you choose.

I would like to see some sort of an image. That is also quite a large domain. I am thinking you should stop at the first range of mountains. How does that sound?And I will need a race application for the Light elves.

Name of Race: Rivermen
Appearance: Human. Light, tanned skin. Dark brown/ light black hair, thicker features, wider shoulders and more compact build than other men. Typically between 4'9" and 5'11". Blue, brown, or green eyes are the norm.

Abilities: Usual human attributes. High potential and rapid technological advancement, as well as being extremely able to adapt to change. However, the usual flaws of human nature apply. Capable craftsmen, scholars, soldiers, cooks, and laborers, and average enchanters. Normal rate of procreation. Varying character attributes, every Riverman is different.

Origins: Arrived in ancient times with Harrad the Conqueror, who established the first Kingdom of Man in Dor Almarea. After the fracturing of the Kingdom at the death of Harrad's grandson Erekmere, the humans living at the mouth of the Amber River banded together and expanded their territory to the west, north, and east, including the only pass through the Greyreach Mountains, where the crumbling, though still formidable ruins of the Almarek Fortifications stands. These ruins are only lightly manned today, but hundreds of years ago, this ruins were heavily defended and maintained, trying to keep something out...


Nation Application
Name of Nation: Eretria
Location on Map: Image

Race: Rivermen

History: A nation of dense forests, shady brooks, and farm fields, centered around the Amber River and south of the Greyreach Mountains. A splinter kingdom of the great Kingdom of Man of old, the Rivermen have lived in and defended these lands for thousands of years. Notable landmarks include Hazelton, the capital, and the Almarek Fortifications, which defends the Splinter Pass through the Greyreach Mountains. Ancient lore and stories ascertain that these formidable fortifications once stood to defend the realm of men from a terrifying force that descended from the deserts to the north, although most educated people today pass over those stories as old folktales.

Specialities: Smithing, masonry, river sailing, heavy infantry, light calvalry, food production

Name of Race: Trident
Appearance: Human. Never show skin, so that color is unknown (to all of you at least. They have an Latino appearance), They wear all black and armor that they always have on. Abilities: They are exceptional sailors and fishermen. When it comes to ground and urban warfare they can outmatched though. They prefer stealth and cunning over blunt charges and open attacks.
Origins: They came from the Place of Fog a land to the east of most of the "civilized" world. They operate much like the Shogunate of Japan. Due to their location and the lack of exploration not much about the Trident's home from other nations. They are very much isolationists, destroying/raiding any ship that enters the Sea of Ghosts and raiding other lands that that are nearby.

Race present in nation: Trident
History: After the the loss of all inhabitants of the islands to the Tridents, the communication with all outsiders ceased. The new owners isolated themselves from the rest of the region letting their raids and self preservation keep them alive. The land is very fertile allowing the new population to sustain themselves for hundreds of years. As the other countries attempted to establish settlements the Tridents became hostile towards the foreigners killing all who got near or on the islands. After the loss of many ships rumors started in the other nations that the waters and the islands were haunted and the spirits on the island wanted vengeance on the nations that let them die. The Trident still thrive on the island with no major conflicts, the entire area renamed the Place of Fog by the foreigners.
Specialties: Fertile land, exceptional navy, stealthy ships, very important fishing industry, light infantry, light artillery.
Religion: Ju'Ruti This is a religion based around the worship of the Dragons that ruled. The early Liturates had contact with an dragon name Fere'Lout (Fura Lout) who taught the Tridents all about the hoarding and the history of the dragons that once ruled the land. After his death Fere'Lout's bones where placed in his cave and are protected by guards 24/7. The values of the religion made honor a forefront. The Dragons were a race that couldn't lie to each other, making truthfulness another major part of the religion. Finally, the dragons never feared death, they knew that they would be taken to Yu-Dovamuta (In Liturate it translates to The Land Of Dragons) which makes the Tridentians embrace a honorable death.

Name of Race: Iredain
Appearance: Iredain are humans. They stand tall, and are often quite beautiful. Contrary to other Men, Iredain can live for hundreds of year. The record for an Iredain is 442 years. Iredain are tall and built. They stand anywhere from 5' 11" to 7'.
Abilities: Iredain are beautiful craftsmen, who can build fantastic works. They live for hundreds of years, and so when they set their mind to a skill, they master it very quickly. They also share the usual human capbilities. In terms of magic, Iredain are very capable in terms of enchantments, and often ring their cities in walls reinforced with enchantments. Iredain procreate at the same pace as normal humans, but usually yield only two or three offspring.
Origins: Harrad the Conqueror established the first human empire. During this time, Harrad's brother Aredun married an elven princess. Their offspring came to be known as the Iredain. Aredun was exiled by his brother, for a crime he did not commit. Aredun sailed east, with his kin, and his sword, Arcrys. A little more than a hundred years later during the reign of Erekmere, and the subsequent fall of the Kingdom of Man, the Iredain sailed back over the sea to land in the Ri-Talath. Landing in the war plagued valley, the Iredain, in their golden ships and shining armor, appeared as gods to those dwelling in The Crownland. Here they landed, with their King, Arimir. Arimir wielded the sword Arcrys, and drove back the Orcs who plagued the land. Henceforth the Iredain dwelt in that land.


Nation Application:
Name of Nation: Revian
Location on Map: Image
Race present in nation: Iredain reside as rulers and lords. Regular Men plow the fields and labor.
History: When King Arimir landed in Ri-Talath, he drove the Orcs out of the land, and then sought for repentance from Erekmere. He rode to Erekmere's court, whence forth he found that Erekmere had been slain, and his city sacked. Arimir rode back to Ri-Talath, and created a new nation from the shambles of his Great Great uncle, Harrad's empire. Arimir set about fortifying the mountains, and a secret pass out of Ri-Talath through the GreyReach mountains. Arimir also built temples to his gods of the East on top of the three mountains of the Crown Range. The Crown Range consisted of the three mountains that snaked out of the GreyReach mountains, and encircled the forests of Ri-Talath. Arimir refounded the ancient capitol of the Human Empire, renaming it Aresca.
Specialties: Iredain are fantastic masons, building legendary fortifications. They specialize in Heavy cavalry, while Men provide for the rest of the army. Revian is an accomplished sailing nation, an ability derived from the Iredain of the East. Revian is also famous for its forgery, producing arms and armor that would put others to shame. Iredain youth train for 80 years to master warfare, and so they often serve as leaders and the bravest warriors in battle.

Other notes:
On the Map:
The Green line indicates the hidden pass out of Ri-Talath
The three red dots are the temples on the Crown Range
The blue dot closest to the three red dots is Aresca
The blue dot directly west of Aresca is Ireport, a bustling trade port and is where King Arimir first landed.
The blue dot at the southern tip of Ri-Talath is Errechia, a trade port and farming city.
The blue dot at the bottom of the Crown Range is Ostirion, a ringed tower of formidable strength, that blocks access into Ri-Talath.
The blue dot at the north-eastern tip of Revian is Lorchant, a small port.

Character Application

Name: Jhargüs
Race: Rivermen
Appearance: Human. Light, tanned skin. Black hair, thicker features, wider shoulders and more compact build than other men. Jhargüs stands taller than most rivermen, at 5'11". Green eyes.
Backstory: Jhargüs was born in a barn that served as the village smithy of Glaedisvale, just to the south of the Greyreach mountains, in Eretria. It was used by his father before him, and his grandfather before that. As long as he could remember, the village had been peaceful and quiet, and he was expected to serve his village well - as was expected of him. But he yearns to explore the world, make a life for himself in a new land, and to join the quest for a good adventure where it exists.
Abilities: Extremely capable swordsman in times of war, smithy in times of peace. Perfect eyesight, and excellent physical condition. Very direct in nature - he is against the use of archery for he believes that bows are flimsy and that archers are cowardly.

Name of Race: Dar'Lok
Appearance: Olive Skinned, little hair though it varies from dark brown to black, most are small in stature though a few are very large. Physical attributes of a man. Usually are found around 5'6'' though larger ones are as tall as 6'.
Abilities: While not necessarily smart, they are quick understand communications. Have a unique ability in handling exotic animals. Most are skilled speakers and many are quick to learn the skills of the blade.
Origins: Dar'Lok, meaning children of gold in their foreign tongue are said to have come from across the great Eastern Sea many centuries ago, though some believe them to be a mix of the Dar'Duna and Men from the West who invaded their land long ago. They quickly came to dominate the Eastern coast of the great desert in numbers, though politically it is held by the Freema. Many have taken to calling themselves Fremen in cities free of Freema rule as a mockery to the name of Freema. And the term Fremen is becoming more common as a form of resistance to the Fremen.

Race Application
Name of Race: Dar'Duna
Appearance: Large in stature, dark skinned, males are hairless, females only grow hair upon their scalp. Features of man. Most are the height of 6'2''
Abilities: Little natural talent, though they are quick to learn. Most often used for physical labor, have natural talent in melee combat.
Origins: Dar'Duna, meaning children of the sand in the desert tongue of their land are from deep within the desert and are viewed as barbaric by most other races due to their lack of social and technological advancement. Many are found on the shores of the great Desert as slaves, laborers, or mercenaries.

Race Application
Name of Race: Freema
Appearance: Fair-skinned, usually having blonde hair or a variation of blonde, a few have darker colors of hair. They are of average stature for a man and usually stand around 5'10''

Origins: Freema come from the West though the exact location is forgotten. Their name is what they are referred to by the Dar'Lok which simply comes from the fact they are free men. Centuries ago they came to defeat some great evil with origins in the desert through some great crusade that was largely a failure. However, one lord of the crusade was able to conquer land on the coast and formed a kingdom when the way home was blocked by their enemies. From that day the Freema has ruled as rulers of their realm.

Races present in nation: Freema, Dar'Lok, Dar'Duna
History: Samara originally was just barren coastline a millennium ago with a few tribes of Dar'Duna inhabiting it who were too weak to survive the battles between tribes deep in the desert. Eventually Dar'Lok invaders came from across the Eastern sea or they were raiders from farther South who found the land and eventually settled when they easily defeated and enslaved the Dar'Duna tribes along the coast and set about making a number of trading hubs that turned into small cities along the coast that depended upon Dar'Duna slaves and mercenaries for defense.

After a few centuries the Freema arrived in vast numbers to war with the Dar'Duna tribes for an unknown reason. However, the war went badly for the Freema crusaders who underestimated the Dar'Duna and the great war beasts at their disposal. However, one leader of the crusade veered away and saw the trading cities of the Dar'Lok as great prizes to be taken and he did so. He conquered the cities and formed them into a kingdom known as Samara named after their goddess. However, the crusaders lost their war and being on the opposite side of the desert the crusaders inhabiting Samara couldn't return home so they made Samara their permanent residence. They replaced the Dar'Lok as the ruling class, but left the land largely unchanged to allow the wealthy land to continue to flourish.
Specialties: Trade mostly amongst itself, mercenary warfare, elephant combat, desert demon riding, while not common it is rumored that there are men with mystic powers within the kingdom.

Abilities: Little natural talent, though they are quick to learn. Most often used for physical labor, have natural talent in melee combat.
Origins: Dar'Duna, meaning children of the sand in the desert tongue of their land are from deep within the desert and are viewed as barbaric by most other races due to their lack of social and technological advancement. Many are found on the shores of the great Desert as slaves, laborers, or mercenaries.

Sorry about that, the only part the desert actually touched the shore was the corner. And that is like the minimum claim for me, if you allow I would like to take much more of that desert...just wanted to leave it open for now if others wanted some of it

You said northwest when you claimed the desert - it took me a while to find your claim as well because I'm pretty sure you mean northeast.

I know another poster had expressed interest in the desert, but you can expand deeper into the desert if you like. Coast is prime real-estate!

Yes, that is very true. One of my races come from the West so I kept mixing up the directions...will edit that.

Well pretty much my thoughts on my claim is I would want as much of the desert that isn't claimed and is allowed (if no one claimed the desert I would gladly take it all and have fun with it...but will hold off on being that ambitious till I see if people want some of it or not).
