Mechanized Mages, based on tanks, battleships, and airplanes, brawl it out over land, sea, and air. The Cold War may have ended, but the rivalry between machines has not.
Mechanics
War Mages, although the politically correct term is most likely "Mechanized Mages," or "Magical Users Who Engage in Mechanized Warfare," are sorceresses equipped with state-of-the-art battle armor and weapons based on the properties and characteristics of tanks, fighter planes, battleships, and you get the idea. Their armor is animated by a rare crystal known solely as "Kore." In turn, this crystal becomes energized when coming into contact with a Mage.
Children, especially girls, have a curious and natural affinity for magic, and at a certain age, girls who demonstrated magical abilities were handpicked to see if they could activate the Kore. If they activated it, the Kore became a part of them, and only they could activate that particular piece. Therefore, only they could use the set of armor. On the bright side of this, the Mage stayed eternally young as a result. However, if the armor is eroded, and the Kore shattered, the Mage bonded to it would die.
When the great Soviet Union dissolved, the Cold War was over, and the threat of nuclear war gone, the various countries wondered what they were going to do with their mechanized girls, who were rather destructive and chaotic. It was agreed that no more of their kind were to be created, and that they were to be sent to academies to learn to contain their powers. Since they are technically immortal, this would go on forever, unless they could prove they had the right self-control to be allowed back into society. To harness their destructive energy, the academies started international tournaments, where the Mages fight another. The battle ends when one of the participants either surrenders, or is blown into defeat.
Since then, various schools have popped up, in different parts of the globe. The rivalry between the Western and Eastern Mages ensured they keep to their own schools, in their respective territories. However, now a new academy has been created, to attempt and breach the differences between the former enemies. Known as War Gears Academy, while nicknamed "the Iron Wolf Academy," it is run by teachers from various parts of the world, from America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia, etc.
