"Strong army, strong nation" type: Your nation has a massive military but the government remains mostly civilian. (eg. China, Russia, USA, Israel, Iran)
Militarized type: Your military has military officers within the government structure. (eg. North Korea)
Highly militarized type: Your military has huge power within the government. It is also possible that the military controls the government, which would mean your nation is a military junta. (eg. Myanmar from 1988 to 2011)

(I think the USA is more of a "Strong army, strong nation" type, especially when its military spending is about half of the world's total. It also tends to intervene in other countries)

We are a warrior culture , virtually the entire population is in the military or has had military training (and still has access to military grade weapons and armor) , our defense budget exceeds the combined budget of some regions so our large standing army is equipped with the finest weapons and armor that can be produced . But we are still a meritocratic democracy (although the prime minister is a serving admiral, and many members of the cabinet hold military commissions.

He has full control over the military, however, the Emperor is still de-facto commander-in-chief, and there is a protocol to strip all power away from the Lord Marshal in times of crisis.

Highly Militarised

All Fennish people MUST do one year's service in the military. All members of Parliament are part of the nobility, who must know how to command and lead soldiers. The military is very important within the Empire. And of course the Emperor is the Supreme Commander.

All citizens are required to have training and serve in the Home Guard from 15 to 18, when they then can opt to stay as part of the Home Guard or join the army. Most if not all politicians are either active duty or veterans, with the president acting as Grand Marshal of the armed forces.

The Military have a very large amount of influence in politics, their even granted seats in the Grand Council, numerous officers and generals occupy non-specific government advisory positions and the threat of coup is a constant danger to the insecure democratic government. The Military also control numerous industries for the sole purpose of supplying and arming the armed forces, unlike the state owned enterprises these industries have not been privatized and probably never will.

The civilian government is allowed to give general orders to be interpreted by military officers. That said, if one wishes to join the government they must forfeit their commision. Our military is massive, but requires authorization from civilian authority to act. Many politicians are former military. The current Empress has not served in the military though she is trained in a variety of martial skills.

Highly militarized type: Most of the leadership are also high ranks in the army; the Führerin herself is the head of all armed services. While we do not have compulsory military service (instead preferring a highly trained and professional military), defense is the government's top priority. Part of the economy is based very heavily on the military, and the military seems to be receiving perpetually more and more funding. As a result, it is extremely well-equipped, well-trained and ready to respond to anything, anywhere in the world quickly.

However, the government and the military are still technically separate.

We have a Strong Military, Strong Nation type. Our military is massive but also is the state. We have, however, often been ruled by generals and been a military junta.
Military service is compulsory in almost all cases. Those not capable of combat are instead given civillian tasks in the military. Those completely uncapable are to be given permission in order to not serve.
Soled has a long history of military rule. In fact, by modern standards it was not before the 90's that Soled stepped down from being a spartan-like military state.
