Preface

Well, who doesn't love the Elder Scrolls and the great, rich, and arcane world of legends that defines it so thoroughly. So, I thought to myself, why not start a TES Roleplay! It'll be fun they say, great even! Get a gaggle of folk together and carve a path to glory! This inevitably has led to the creation of this Roleplay and I hope it'll be a fun and thrill ridden adventure as I hope it to be.

The Roleplay

The Roleplay will start out with each Rper controlling One-to-Three characters and can start anywhere in Tamriel (however I recommend being decently close to the action A.K.A other people). Whether it be in the Imperial City at the heart of Cyrodiil, or the frozen wastes of Northern Skyrim, to the arid Alik'r desert in Hammerfall or even the great forests of Valenwood. The choice is yours! From that point everyone will start out with some basic equipment, nothing completely specific needs to be done; However, I don't expect to see anyone walking about with full Daedric Armor from the get go.

From hence everything is entirely up to you; I, the OP may throw events at you to keep the ball rolling should you be feeling stuck, or want a quest and so forth. Further, I dish out rewards and negative factors as well, complete a certain quest and gain a powerful artefact (Sounds great right!) or suffer an illness. Its entirely up to the RP as it would be at that moment, generally speaking this is entirely up to the OOC community.

The Current Era

The current time is year 5 of the Fifth Era, a time of warfare and chaos that reigns supreme since the 3rd Century of the 4th Era. Kingdoms rose and fell, heroes came and went, yet peace was never fully restored to Tamriel. Invasion, plague, famine, all wracked the lands and seemed unending. The Tamrielic Empire was viewed as a sick, old, and decayed institution that only held actual power in Cyrodiil with Skyrim operating Semi-autonomous; the Imperial Legion becoming a shadow of its previous glory. The current Emperor, Tiberius III, seems rather disaffected with the state of his Empire, not that he has the power to reverse his nations fortunes due to the decrepit state of his bureaucracy.

The only real challenge to the Empire was the Aldmeri Dominion, which even now kept the Empire in cheque. But even now with warfare on and off and having to spend resources continuously in rooting out Talos worship has over-stretched the Dominion. With its Thalmor agents only still active in Westenr Skyrim and Cyrodiil. Otherwise the Dominion has still held on to Valenwood and the Summerset Isles, even as Elsewyr slipped from its grasp to be divided between the Khajiit Kingdoms of Anequina and Pellitine.

Elseware Tamriel has been increasingly divided with many far flung villages and towns working rather autonomously and feudalistic lords becoming increasingly powerful to the detriment of regional powers. Such as the Kingdoms of Daggerfall led by High King Emeric IV and Hammerfell led by King Marcus Julianus in the West and the Argonian territories in the east now compromising Black Marsh and southern Morrowind. The Empire tentatively occupied Western Morrowind and only holds the land by virtue of Military occupation.

Needless to say, Tamriel is a place of changing tides and desperate peoples in need of heroes. Will you take up the sword? Will you forge your own Empire at the tip of a spear? Or will you restore a nation of your choice? Become a Mage, a Necromancer, found a Dynasty, become a legend.

Current Events Across Tamriel (CEAT)

High Rock: Argonians led by Glowing Eye (Ralnis) have invaded, fought a brief war with the successful capture of Farrun, and allowed to settle in the southern wild lands of the Kingdom of Jehanna.

Far South-West Skyrim: The Wolf's Fang (Stormhound) is fighting a dire defensive campaign against the Empire's 2nd and 9th Legions. Currently the Wolf's Fang has been encircled and slowly squeezed with casualties mounting. Further, Wolfram has been discovered and in confrontation with Valerus, Elsepeth, and Ragnar (Imperialisium).

Black Marsh: A Jail break is in the works and orchestrated by the characters of Rencini.

Politics: War is soon to erupt between the Empire and Aldmeri Dominion as the Empire of Tamriel secretly finishes their war preparations.

Bruma: Penitus Oculatus agents led by Furiel (Armed Republic of Dutch Coolness) have taken into custody of Wolframs newborn child. Leaving Flavia distraught and near insanity, or...currently insane. Intending to transport the child into the protective care of the Imperial Child Services Guild. That was a joke the child is really going to be raised as an Imperial.

Imperial City: We got Ayleids (Vengeful Queen Chryssi) in the Imperial City! Talk about rare.

Whiterun: Some sneeky-sneek Wolfs Fang operatives have 'arrested' Jarl Bulgruuf. Can rebels arrest people legally? The world may never know...

Mzahnch: We got people trapped or exploring Dwemer ruins (Ballycolumbia, Abasha and co.).

Stros M'kai: M'kai has been captured by the forces of Hammerfell against the Aldmeri Dominion (Murkwoods the writer here).

Morrowind: We got some fighting on ships and near shipwrecks (Omegica and co.) while Co-Op Tel Vanni is having Xulcandra get money (f*ck Tsaesci get Septims!) to repair Firemoth Keep.

Race: Imperial (Specifically Colovian or West Imperial)
Name: Valerus Aestilan
Age: 19
Birthplace: Born in the Imperial City of Cyrodiil.
Personal Background: Valerus was born to a minor noble living in the Imperial City named Lucius Aestilan of Anvil; however, Valerus spent the majorit of his childhood in Alleswell just to the North-West of the Imperial City. His father Lucius, however, never paid much attention to Valerus and visited him rarely. Not that he was not provided for, Amilia, Valerus Mother, loved her son and made sure that the money given to them by her husband was well spent on not only her own health but Valerus.

However this all changed when an Orsimer raiding party attacked Alleswell, leading to the death of Amilia when Valerus was 16 years old. He never went to his father for aid, to wracked with grief and distraught on the way the world was unfolding day to day he seemed lost. Taking the money that remained with him he buried his Mother in Oakwood, her village of birth, and has been on the road since. Managing to cobble together a small amount of personal effects to his name. His Steel Sword he dubbed Sorrow Maker, an Iron Dagger, his few and often mismatched Iron armor gear cobbled together along the way to his Long bow he made when working under the tutelage of a retired Imperial Legionnaire living in Nimbel.

Otherwise the only possessions to Valerus is his horse Greymare and his food he manages to afford by working various odd jobs. Of course along the way he managed to befriend an Altmer named Elsepeth and a Nord by the name of Ragnar Red-Beard from Windhelm. Valerus had met Elsepeth when passing through Solitude, and begged for Valerus to take her along do to a falling out with her father who worked for the Thalmor. Ragnar was simply a disaffected Nord who viewed the Empire as a sick entity waiting to fall and was run out of Windhelm for not paying his taxes, which, was better than languishing in the jail cells.

Family Background: Valerus father is a minor noble from Anvil who lived primarily in the Imperial City and traveled around Tamriel as a merchant. Which often meant he often never saw Valerus for weeks if not months at a time, and even then generally discarded his company. Amilia, his mother was the opposite and gave great affection to Valerus, making sure he was well cared for until her tragic death.

Personal Effects: Iron Dagger, Steel Sword, Iron Armor set (Worn quality), Long Bow with Iron Arrows. Also carries enough food for three days with his horse typically bearing the brunt of the groups food stock.

Race: Altmer
Name: Elsepeth Ninial
Age: 22
Birthplace: Skywatch
Personal Background: Born to an unknown mother and father by the name of Delamar who worked for the Thalmor in rooting out Talos worship. Elsepeth, rather vigorously hated the harsh tactics of her father in his job regard and the way he treated her, always pressing her hard but rewarding her strictly, with even stricter punishments for failure. Intending to submit her to serve as a Mage and become a Justiciar like himself. This was not in the likeness of Elsepeth, who, preferred to see the world rather than enforce any set of beliefs. She got her chance, when Valerus traveled through Solitude and in effect ran away with him. Since then she has been one of the loyal companions to Valerus and has accompanied him on his wayward journeys across Tamriel.

Family Background: Elsepeth's father was a Thalmor Justiciar and brought her up in a strict style to try and create a perfect, 'daughter,' that would follow in his footsteps. Her grand parents were merchants also from Skywatch that traded in wines and beverages, making a decent fortune with the, "Ninial Winery and Co." Elsepeths Mother was strangely absent from her life and her father always reprimanded her for even bringing her up, leaving much to be questioned.

Personal Effects: Elven Bow with Elven Arrows, Iron Dagger, Elven Cuirass with Leather greaves and vambraces. Elsepeth carries everything magical on her horse which is currently; 1x Potion of Healing, 2x Potion of Minor Magicka, 1x Potion of Resist Frost and various ingredients.

Race:Nord
Name: Ragnar Red-Beard
Age: 20
Personal Background: Ragnar was born and raised in Winhelm in Eastmarch, Skyrim. Ragnar since day one seemed to be a fighter and even enlisted in the Windhelm Guard before being kicked out for supposed actions to, 'insight rebellious conduct,' within Windhelm. Some regarded this as genuine, others praised it in remembrance of the Stormcloak Rebellion by past Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak, while some simply saw him as a trouble maker. Never the less Ragnar chose to leave of his own accord then be thrown in the dungeon or worse, beheaded on treasonous grounds. At which point he met Valerus and Elsepeth as they gradually made their way East. Offering companionship and loyalty to the duo in exchange for accepting him, which, after some debating they did. Since then Ragnar has proven loyal to Valerus as not only a comrade but a friend, while somewhat being at odds with Elsepeth for being Altmar and her father being ex-Thalmor.

Family Background: Ragnar's parents owned a small blacksmith shop in Windhelm near the central market place. They earned a modest income and lived well enough to get by should things get tough. Yet, Ragnar was a fighter, never backing down from a fight and often getting the shit kicked out of him as a result. More than once being brought home by the Windhelm Guard to his parents for his brawls. But, his father admired his fighting spirit, seeing him a true Nord at heart and reminding him of his stories when he was a child of Nordic warriors of old. Ragnar's father, Agnor, was stricken at the news of his sons leaving, giving him his most prized possession, his Steel Battle Axe and fathers Iron armor. His mother, Helda, gave him a coin purse with 100 Septims they'd been saving for him when he eventually went his own way.

Personal Effects: Two handed Steel Battleaxe (Fine Condition), Iron Dagger; carries most of the misc items the group carries which is typically books, armor and weapon maintenance and so forth.



Rules
The Rules will be split into two Sections; Starting rules for starting players and the overall rules which are the general run down of regulations to help make this RP a safe thread and happy environment for everyone.

Starting Rules
1. In terms of Character race the Et'Ada or Aedra and Daedric Princes are off limits due to them being gods/god-like beings. It is possible to ascend to become a Daedra, but not a Daedric Prince.

2. I would like everyone to start out with basic gear for the most part and with a limited pool of Money or even a very limited starting amount to get by.

3. The starting Rules are subject to change by either the OP or a petition of RPers whereby majority rules.

Overall Rules

1. Be polite. I employ the three strikes and you are out of the thread method and if need be I WILL call in a moderator should things continue to deteriorate.

2. No god-modding; I.E. making oneself invincible or unable to be killed, generally just putting yourself in god mode.

3. No Metagaming; No randomly having an Army at your back or never getting tired by using Magic or having an endless supply of stamina or trying to change the world to your own benefit.

4. Rule of Cool vs Rule of Awesome; It would be Awesome to have a Dragon with you from the start right? But is it likely, not really, so be cool and fair in your posts and choices. No one likes a wanker.

5. No one-liners; each post should have decent grammatical capability portrayed and have a length no less than one complete paragraph with full sentences (I.E., 4-6 complete sentences). If this should prove difficult for you then seek assistance either from fellow RPers or other resources to improve your writing skills.

6. No rail-roading, this goes along with god modding and metagaming, whereby a person deliberately forces a singular or plurality of RPer's to follow a narrow and one ending story/interaction. Which is a). not fun at all b). a pretty dick move and c). counts a strike just like Metagaming and god moding.

7. I reserve the rights of OP and can elect Co-Ops and Sub-Ops or any person to hold an OOC status above the norm for the benefit of the RP.

Personal Background: Born to a mother who was a captain in the Imperial Legion, she never knew her father and was raised by her mother, and soldiers in the company. She learned to be a skilled fighter, a hard worker, but her true strength was as a mage, have been the student of the few mages in the fort. She also became a skilled tactician, and negotiator, as the soldiers often had to work with the locals, rather then expecting outright co-operation. As the Empire continued to decline, the company she came to know as a family disbanded, the soldiers having to find their own way after years of loyal service.

Angered at that, but also eager to set off on her own, she stuck out on her own, having some rather grand ideas.

Personal Background: Aafiyah was born in the middle of a raging sandstorm, this was taken as an omen and the elders said that one day he would be a bringer of great uncontrollable destruction. He was always regarded with a mix caution and fear. When he could handle a sword and bow with proficiency he left his home in search of coin and fame. After a few years of bit contracts he was hired on as the bodyguard of the son of Lord Ashcroft. They spent many years together and Aafiyah instructed Alexander in several Redguard sword techniques. The night that Alexander left his home Aafiyah caught him and nearly turned him in. The only thing that prevented him was Alexander's promise of large sums of gold if he came with him.
Family Background: Aafiyah is the son of nomadic Redguards, native to the harsh Alik'r dessert. His father and mother were both mercenaries before returning to their home in the shifting sands.

For the next ten years she traveled Tamriel in search of something unknown even to her. Eventually, she found herself in Wayrest where she took employment in the Ashcroft household. She instructed young Alexander in the basics of magic in addition to various other academic topics. She became very close to and protective of Alexander electing to follow him when he fled the estate.
Family Background: Eleedi-Ja is a member of a mysterious tribe of Argonians from deep within Black Marsh. Eleedi-Ja refuses to speak of her family or tribe.
Personal Effects at start of RP: Traditional Argonian robes, magic staff, assorted potions and poisons

After the fire he took to the streets of the slums of the city and spent his time begging for coins and befriending the other beggars. This caused him much resentment from others and he was never very successful in his pursuits of coin. Eventually at the age of eighteen the Deadric princess Nocturnal visted him and out of pity and a sense of opportunity offered him a deal or blood pact. In exchange for serving her and doing her bidding, she would guide him to happiness and strength.

When he turned eighteen he joined the city arena and was trained by a instructor. He participated in several fights and became quite good, he used his winnings to buy himself food, a small shack to live in as well as new clothing. After a fight that almost took his life he said enough was enough.

At the ripe age of 25 he left the city and began to roam Cyrodiil searching for adventure and loot. Occasionally Nocturnal would visit him offering advice on his travels and adventures, often asking him to do seemingly pointless, vague and small tasks. Over time Alexander began to trust Nocturnal's judgement and showed himself to be capable.

At the current age of 26 he still is roaming Cyrodiil, exploring the lands. He would sleep anywhere he could, under trees, tents, and in caves. He hunts for his food and buys what he can by trading or using his reserves of septims.

I'm working on an app right now. The character I have in mind is of strong noble blood and used to be rich and powerful, but not so much any more. She owns a crumbling castle, a depleted ebony mine and rocky lands too salty to be farmed. There is still some raw ebony left in the treasury, but no way to legally sell it. What's left isn't worth nearly enough, in any case.

I'm also considering an introductory story to explain how she found herself in this situation, why it is not nesecarily a good thing and what she plans to do about it.

Birthplace: a bandit camp in Skyrim, near the Cyrodil-Skyrim border.
Personal Background: raised as a hostage in Cyrodil, and therefore brought up into the Imperial way of life, Wolfram was reared by Imperial foster-parents, and was enlisted in the Legion as soon as he came of age. He is torn between two cultures, and two families, his father's bandit tribe who protected him in early childhood, or the Legion where he learned discipline. Matters have become even worse when Wolfram learns he is to be deployed to the south of Skyrim, where the bandit tribe of his father, now a village, has grown increasingly rebellious in the face of taxes.
Family Background (optional but advised for depth): his father was a Nordic bandit chief, who's assaults on the Legion became so bold and inflicting that they were willing to come to a peace treaty with him. In exchange for a pardon, and money, his son would be raised in Cyrodil as a hostage. Not much is known about Wolfram's mother.

Personal Background: Fenris was born to a poor couple of Argonian immigrants, making pilgrimage to the harsh winter-choked lands of Skyrim in hopes of a better life. Alas, during their approach to the coastline of Skyrim their vessel was caught in a fierce storm that took the life of everyone... well, everyone save Fenris. The young hatchling was found on the frozen shore by a Nordic couple, who took him in and raised him as their own for the remainder of his adolescence. Due to the circumstances in which he was found, the couple gave him the birth title of Stormborn. He was raised on their homestead, and his adoptive father taught him vital hunting and survival skills. Upon reaching the age of sixteen, Fenris decided it was time to see the world. He joined the Imperial Legion, feeling as if he needed to serve his nation. Rising to the ranking of Centurion at age 21, life was quite good for the young Argonian.

Yet, Fenris began to see the true horrors of war and battle. He witnessed his fellow Imperial soldiers raze and decimate an entire village, claiming it to be vital in the process of rooting out the enemy forces hiding in the brush. Angered and disgusted by further atrocities committed by the Empire, he deserted the Imperial Legion and began the life of the nomad. He wandered Tamriel, performing odd-jobs and assisting villagers. At one section of his journey, rumor has it he became a disciple of the daedric prince Hircine.

Name: Indoril Xulcandra

Birthplace: Port Telvannis, Morrowind

Personal Background: Born in her aunt's mushroom tower in Port Telvannis, raised in her father's manor in Raven Rock and schooled by the Mages Guild, Xulcandra has seen many sides of life in Morrowind. She was raised to rule, but this was never her choice. She prefers the power of a well cast spell to that of the council chambers, the destruction of alchemical reagents to that of an enemy army and the control of a well-run laboratory to the absolute chaos of politics. In her heart, she is more Telvanni than Indoril.

Her birth was meant to bring the two houses together, but it widened the rift instead. Her Telvanni cousins didn't care about politics outside their own Great House, even less so about her for her Indoril blood. Her Indoril cousins, on the other hand, cared all too much about her 'tainted' blood and her affinity for sorcery.

In year 427 of the Third Era, a small team of adventurers, led by the Nerevarine, retook Fort Firemoth from the lich, Grurn. Xulcandra's relatives took this as an opportunity to get rid of her for a while. A deal was made with the Imperial Legion, giving her governorship of the Firemoth Region and ownership of the castle. She was sent there to take possession of the islands and hold them for the Empire.

Xulcandra dutifully moved to Firemoth, taking only one servant and half a dozen guards. She settled in to the castle and resumed her magical research as she waited for the Legion garrison to arrive.

The Garrison never came. The Nerevarine defeated Dagoth-Ur, slew the Tribunal and wiped out many of her relatives, including her father. Red Mountain destroyed most of her remaining family. Her cousins tried to regrow Sadrith Mora, and Xulcandra helped to fund the reconstruction with ebony from the mine under Firemoth, but Nerevar killed them as well.

With her castle crumbling, her lands unfarmable, her mine depleted and her subjects nearly non-existant, Xulcandra is becoming more and more like the stereotype of the reclusive Telvanni wizard, except that she lives in a castle of stone.


Family Background: Xulcandra is the daughter of Indoril Gaeroth, a high ranking Ordinator commander. Her grandmother, Endora, was Archmagister of Great House Telvanni for many years. Although she bears the family name of Indoril, her Telvanni blood is strong and proud. Although no Telvanni bother to question her loyalties, there are many Indoril and Redoran who do. She is the last of her line on her father's side, but she believes some of her Telvanni relatives may still live. She never had any children.

Birthplace: Fort Frostbreed, South of Falkreath, on the borders of the Jerall Mountains.
Personal Background:
Vexas Deconus was born as the bastard daughter of an Imperial nobleman in Fort Frostbreed, an old fortress in the Jerall mountains, close to Falkreath. During her youth, she spent the days helping her mother in the kitchens. While it wasn't the nicest job available, it was better than working in the Fortress' iron mines. The fortress garrison, however, grew ever smaller as Legionaires were sent away to fight, or garrison places more important. Nineteen years after Vexas' birth, the fortress was heavily undermanned and stood largely empty; only several miners, soldiers, servants, the blacksmith and Lord Deconus remained. It was then that the bandits struck; in the middle of the night, Fort Frostbreed was sacked, its residents slaughtered and its goods stolen. Vexas was, as far as she knew, the only one to escape the slaughter. Grabbing an iron sword and a horse, she rode away, to Falkreath. There, she ran errants and did some jobs for people, saving up money until she could finally buy some "adventuring equipment"; a suit of leather armor, and a crossbow. With her newly bought gear, and her old but trustworthy horse and sword, she left Falkreath to explore a bit of the world. After years of exploring and mercenary work throughout Cyrodiil, Skyrim and Morrowind, she finally returned to Falkreath, along with several old friends who had promised her help. There, she assembled a group of potential miners, and set for Fort Frostbreed. When they arrived, they found the ruins of the once proud fortress, completely vacant. The bandits had left Frostbreed years ago, but had left what remained in a remarkably good state. As the group searched the mine, they found it had been far from depleted, and they got to work on rebuilding the fortress. Currently, the fortress has been partially rebuilt, and the mines have been reopened, with Vexas as the owner. While far from her former self, she has retuned to her home, and wants to make the best out of it as possible - though the urge to go out and see some more of the world is still there.
Family Background: Her mother, a Nord, was a cook at the fortress she was born in, while her father was the minor noble in charge of the fortress. She was born as a bastard daughter, but later took her father's family name, following the retaking of the fortress and mines.
