will Third Parties Emrge in the 2014 USA midterm elections

Postby American Pride » Mon Aug 05, 2013 8:38 pm

So People of NS, I have been thinking about this for quit some time now. Will Third Parties Emerge in the upcoming 2014 midterm elections? There is a ever growing trend among Americans Like myself who are sick of the GOP and the democrats. For both parties have lost their values and do nothing to fix this country and would rather Satisfy Big corporations and fill each others pockets with earmarks. You cant deny it both parties have been in power for too long and have done shit for our nation. So I believe that the Libertarian party, The Constitution party, The Socialist party, Hell even the Communist party will emerge because of our greed filled two party system. Do you guys think that this will happen? And do you think that the USA will change if third parties get elected?

They never will... In fact, it's safer to say that the US is more likely to become a de facto one party state than to have three or more parties being competitive.

And if Third Parties rise up, they'll end up being bought out by the same big corporations you talk about.

Way to go.

Last I checked their were two independent Senators already in Congress. The midterm elections might see a third party candidate or two get elected, most likely a Libertarian, but nothing drastic. So no it won't change America.

And they'll eventually get bought out.

Might as well just become anarchists. (Joking)

The green party has goals to run many candidates for national office in 2014 in preparation to have Ralph Nader run for President in 2016.

The Libertarian 'Party' does not. libertarians do.

Unless the GOP stops being a party, the Libertarians will never get their chance.

I see no reason to believe that we will have a Speaker of the House Gary Johnson in 2014. I don't see parties which account for almost all seats in Congress suddenly losing their power in a year.

Making the assumption that this is the case, why is the limited government of your vision better than the limits of government of my vision?

To be a bit more specific, would you have supported TARP?

The two parties are so entrenched in the American political system right now that they can't be dug out easily.

If most people are disillusioned with their party, they'll keep voting for it because "otherwise the other party will get in, and they're worse."

It happens in the UK, too. Generally, people trust the two (debatably three) main parties as far as they can throw them, but they'll still support one of them to keep the others out.
I'm utopian? I think it's more utopian to believe things can carry on as they are now.

No, i would not have supported the Tarp Act for i dont not believe in Corporate Handouts and the Putting my tax dollars to bail out Business. Are visions of small government are different because your side of the party believes that their should be Morality police that should go around telling people what to do. You Side of the party Believes in the Patriot act and allows the government to invade my personal Life and In information and your side tends to favor Select Corporations and tends to bail them out on my dime. Its not my problem that they failed to make profit if my business fails i would love to see Bush JR or Obama Bail me out

Stopping right here (I'll address the other, nonsensical parts at a later date, if I feel like it), why wouldn't you? Are you familiar with which businesses took TARP money? Are you familiar with the TARP program itself?

I doubt that they will stay the same.

Just look at what happened to the Dems when they lost the Dixiecrats. They came backa few elections later.

It's no different for the GOP.

Is it?
