So am I the only person who wastes copious amounts of time on those stupid little facebook games without having any intention of using facebook as a social network tool?

I use it primarily for the social networking side. I recently moved from the city to a remote area for work, and use facebook to keep in touch with my friends back home in the city. Particularly useful, as with my opinions and attitudes, as well as my dress sense, I don't fit in particularly well here.

What apps do you play? I myself really only play the Mafia Wars and the Farmville...the Farmville is disturbingly addictive.

I signed up my mother so she could play Farkle and ChainRXN and friended her in a very limited way so she couldn't be in my business.

I got facebook because my friends forced me to, and in my first month I was addicted. All the shiny, shiny apps...

Facebook, more than anything else, has made me feel connected to my friends and family. Yes, the updates and quizzes can be a little mundane, boring, what have you. But they've kept me up to date with the important shit in my friends' lives, and enabled me to stay in touch, and more meaningfully so, than if I was attempting to communicate via phone for instance.

I used to have two accs on the fecebook, but I've stopped to maintain them a long time ago. It's useless.
I connect to my friends by getting drunk together in a nice bar or on the boat, and to my family by having nice civil picnics and holiday celebrations at one of the homes. It's the only kind of connection worth having.
Most of the internets depersonalize people, turning them into sequences of character strings and smilies, the corpses of emotions.

Practically everyone I meet tries to convince me to get facebook. Even people on NS. A pity I have no intention of ever doing so except under threats of torture or something.

Its a little difficult to drink with my mates or have those picnics when my friends and family are 10 hours drive away.

Hey, it took a lot of time and consideration to think up a way of moving all the way out here to get away from their relentless demands to move off the couch. You can't call that lazy.
