How do I put a link to my factbook in my sig? I found out the hard way that regular HTML doesn't work

Erm... if it's an URL, just use the URL function - you can get the code from the reply window's function buttons if you want.

The forums use BBCode instead of HTML for formatting posts. Either click the “URL” button and insert the link in between the two tags, or do [url=<factbook location>]<text for link>[/url]. So, for example, you could do:

This just displays as:
Factbook
