Location: Perave II system, the farthest reaches of the universe, an unexplored, undiscovered system hospitable to humans and humanoids, though not overly friendly in terms of atmospheric conditions.

IC: In the farthest reaches of the known galaxy, a small system hung untouched by the plague of humans that had taken over much of the populatable land in the galaxy. Twin single red stars, dimly glowing provided the four rocky and two gaseous planets that rotated the suns in a slow, methodical figure eight pattern, which bathed all six planets in an eternal dim twilight, all the way around the planet, save for the few standard years when the planets’ rotations took them to a place where one sun shrouded the other in it’s dim glow. All six planets followed the same orbit around the suns, and were nearly all identical; save for the two gaseous planets; cool bordering on cold, wind swept sandy dunes as far as the eye could see. The two gas giants were composed of mostly oxygen with trace amounts of hydrogen and other unidentifiable gases. The planets all appeared deserted, without a trace of civilization anywhere to be seen, save for one of the cool, sandy planets, the third in line to be exact; on this planet, there suddenly unknown to anyone appeared the ruins of a small ancient city, mostly buried by the sands of time. Our story does not take place in this desolate forsaken citadel. Well, at least not yet. Instead, as one scans the surface of the planet, small life forms are seen trudging up and down countless dunes, single file and weary. Though no one could hear, the droids groaned under the pressures placed on them by this arid environment, their joints beginning to freeze. The small band had been moving slower and slower these last days as they returned from the city. Returning to what is unknown, nothing lay ahead of them save for endlessly shifting dunes in a timeless sun, the shadows of the eternal dunes carving out monsters in the mountains of sand and erasing the footprints of the weary travelers moments after they were created. Perhaps something had lived here, once, but that was millennia ago. Today, there was nothing left but sand; sand and a small deserted city slowly being engulfed by time.

Miles ahead of the droids, buried by the constantly shifting sands, lay hidden a small cruiser. Just visible on it’s side, if one were to brush away the sand, you could read the name Eclipse, though it too was fading fast from the tearing of the wind. Inside the ship, nice and cozy sat a small crew of insectoid like creatures, each bearing two arms and two legs. None of them spoke, instead choosing to communicate with each other via their antennae. On one side of the ship two of the insectoids sat playing an odd looking differation of what humans once called chess, others slept, while still another was busy preparing a meal at the ship’s kitchen area.
Suddenly, the speakers buzzed to life:
“We have detected several small vessels of unknown origins entering the system. Cease all communication via radio waves. Maintain verbal and radio silence.”
Immediately the insectoids ceased all communication via antennae or verbal and the lights in the lounge went silent as the ship powered completely down in hopes of avoiding detection.

Its first thought was "Where am I?"

It next was "Who am I?"

Both were very hard to answer. Through its eyes, it could see 'people'... it was startled as the word suddenly jumped into its mind, despite the fact that it had no idea how it had gotten there. The people outside were tinted in green. It perceived it was suspended in some form of liquid, which was green. The people outside payed it no attention, they hustled and bustled here and there around some form of 'bio-computer'...it was again startled by the unexpected term. Not only that, it understood all the meanings and connotations of that term.
Outside, one of the humans, for that was what they were, said to another, "We are coming up on the Perave II system sir"
"Very good, prepare the ship for landing on the third planet, and have the crew ready with the tanks of Veronium. After that we can set up camp."
The one who appeared to be in command was different in several very significant ways from the others. He had spikes growing out of his shoulders and shins, his arms and legs were extremely well-muscled, too much for a normal human. His forehead had a plate covering it, protecting the brain from injury. The being in the tank somehow knew that these growths were not expected in humans.
It perceived that the ship they were in was a small one, used mostly for cargo transfers. About 100 meters long and half as wide. It did not know how it knew this.
The being asked itself "What am I?" hoping to get some information from the deep recesses of its brain. Apparently this was the right question. The thought came unbidden, and powerful. "I am XiChung"

Captains Log, William Lock, USS Sovereign
Less than a week after launching from Four Heatons, the Sovereign has stumbled into a subspace vortex. This vortex appears to have taken us to the very edge of the Galaxy. As the vortex appears stable, we're going to investigate teh system we are in. End Log

The Federation Starship Sovereign moved slowly away from the Subspace votex that had brought it here. The starship, first of her class to be constructed at the lost Colony of the Federation, and under the command of Will Lock. The Sovereign had been on shakedown when she had flown into this mess. Well, the crew intended to make full use of this situation for a bit of proper scientific reasearch. Some of the planets seemed to be vaguely habitable, so it could be a good place for another outpost of the new Federation. As the Sovereign emerged from behidn the small moon they had been hiding whilst the decided what to do, the ship shone in the sunlight, as it glinted off the brand new hull. On the saucher section, her name USS Sovereign was writted along with her registery. Will smiled as he watched from the Bridge as the ship moved forwards into the unknown.

a small ship appeared over the planet. on its front read the words Dex Al Heun
"why are we here again?" said Prex. Prex was a sithrack, a very warlike race in the Gank Federation. He stood three meters tall, had four arms, two legs, and a lipless mouth witch made him always showing his teeth. his skin was a greenish brown, but you could never tell since he wore a huge cloak over him.
"apparently the humans that have driven us out from our homelands, stayed away from here. we are here to figure out why." said Vren, who was a Jranear, which was a lizard-like race who stood 2 meters tall, had scales over their body, and a head shaped like a dog.
"hmph" said Prex. He wasn't into exploring new planets. He was into combat, and tactical planning. but he came since this mission needed a small fighting force in case anything went wrong.
"apparently we aren't the only ones here" said Vren, who noticed something on his scanners. he couldn't tell what it was, but it looked human.
"is it them?" asked Prex
"no some one else." answered Vren. "prepare the exploration party, but you go with them. Don't kill anyone till we know they are enemies."
"hmph" repeated Prex. this was a mission he was not going to like. he like to kill first, then ask questions later.

as the droids continued creeking and trudging through the sand, a roughly human sized individual appeared a few dunes away, clothed in rough tan and brown clothes, with his head completely obscured by a hood, save for the protruding googles that allowed the stranger better sight, he knelt in the sand, taking an ancient looking rifle from his back. Slowly and methodically, he picked off the droids one at a time, never missing despite the high winds. Within minutes the small train of worn droids were lying in the sand, leaking oil that was instanlty swallowed by the parched sands. As soon as the last droid fell the stranger set out across the endless dunes, and quickly disappeared from the view of any who might be watching, as he slid down a particulalry large dune into it's shadow and vanished from sight.

The men on the ship detected the other ships in the system. "Dangit" said the man with the spikes. He was obviously in charge.
"Should we retreat and find another place, sir?"
"No, we'll have been found by then. Are there any sandstorms happening now?"
Looks like there is one...here, sir." he said pointing to spot on the map, not far from where the droids were gunned down.
"Take us down there, and then put the ship into a hibernative state." Since all ships of Asuawan design were bio-tech, they were like organisms themselves. They even had kind of brain, though it only did calculations like a computer.
"Sir, if we do that, the ship won't be able to take off for several hours, plus the landing will be tricky, so we wont have a definite landing site."
The leader wasn't used to having his orders questioned, but he let it slide this time. "The hibernation and delayed takeoff is a risk, but the thing in our favor is that we don't have a definite landing site. Will make us harder to pinpoint, especially after we bury the ship. The hibernation will slow the ships lifesigns, which should make us even harder to detect. The sandstorm will mess with their sensors, and our biological nature might make us entirely undetectable. We simply wear camo, and once the sandstorm is over, we dig up the ship, apply a coating of Veronium to it, which should hide its biological life signs, bury it again, and set up camp for the tests."
"We might have a problem there." said one of the tekkies.
"What?"
"I think its waking up. Its developing faster than we anticipated. At this rate it will be fully conscience before we finish burying the ship, if it isn't all ready."
"Then pump it full of sedatives"
"Nothing we have will work."
"Then land so we can move it into the cargo bay and lock it up. I don't want a rogue monster on my ship."
The pilot complied, and the ship moved into the atmosphere for a landing.

Noticing on his sensors that another ship, if he could call it that since it looked more alive then anything else, was trying to land he said tan alien near him" you guys almost ready?"
"Almost sir, just getting a few more weopons" said a Xiati, a race that was huminoid that had a dull brown skin, with tiny black eyes. They were known for their technology that they developed on their own, and what their weopons did.
"Good. Don't launch till I say so."
"Yes sir" replied the Xiati, then he scurried off.

"Ready?" asked Vren
"yes sir, already to start search sand" Replied another Xiati
"go then" Vren replied.
"but the humans.."
"we need to get down there first, now go"
"yes sir"

a smaller ship was launched towereds the planet, filled with aliens, and thier necessities for a desert. It landed in the sandstorm, already starting to be covered by sand.A door opened on one side, and a Xiati, a Jranaer, and Prex stepped outside. "start unloading, then send the ship back and tell them to get back to us in a day. we still have transmission right?" Prex asked
"no sir, the sandstorm is bloking it." the Jranear said
"ugg, just what we need." Prex said "well set up camp here." now get moving!"
the aliens immediently did so, and in an hour camp was set up, and the ship was gone.

The leader on the bio-ship noticed the aliens landing.
"Drat, take us down but not to close to them....Actually, this could be a good test. Try and get us about a mile or so away."
The pilot complied and the ship landed without incident. The ship was put into a hibernative mode and the men quickly began to cover the ship.

Through his goggles, the lone traveller watched the alien ship descend to the surface. Quietly and quickly he made his way closer to it, braving the sandstorm in nothing but his robes and clothing. As he approached he observed, the initial ship take off again and another vessel touch down. Deciding to leave his investigation of what the other ship may have brought to a later time, he changed his direction slightly and within minutes had come upon the landed Asuawainian ship, which was being covered in sand by the crew and wind, from his vantage point a few dunes away, he blended in completely with the sands, his clothing the same color and the bits of snad blowing over him only providing more protection. From there he took out his rifle and took aim at one of the men burying the ship; his master would not be pleased with these new arrivals. Looking through his scope, ignoring the blowing sand and calculating it's effect on his shot he squeezed the trigger, with a crack the bullet was sent hurdling from the gun and right towards the back of one of the worker's heads.Quickly he got up and made his way back down the dune, dissapearing into the sandstorm.

When one of the men fell to a bullet shot, some of the men dropped, grabbed the man, and crawled back into the ship, which indicated that they had had military training. The others seemed to panic, but took the others cue after a few seconds. Once they were back inside, the spiked leader started pacing. Finally, one of the men got the courage to ask him a question. "Will he live?"
"Doubtful, with a blow to the head like that, his brain was erased instantly, and he probably died at the same time."
"Do we leave?"
"No, by now our pursuers have narrowed the search, if we take off they'll pick us up."
"Should we at least bring the ship out of hibernation?
".....No..if we do that, they may pick us up, even if we stay. Right now the goal is to lay low and hope we get passed over. Or at least finish quickly and leave. From now on, everyone stays in the ship. Hows the patient?"
A older man in a white labcoat replied. "Its fully sentient and conscious. It hasn't made an effort to escape, so the preprogramming to follow orders may still be intact."
"It better be, or we're back to square one. Move it into the cargo bay. Use a temporary power booster to open the door." As the men pushed the tank by, the leader got a good look at what was inside. Floating in the green liquid, was an eight limbed insect, with one set of rear legs, and three sets of forearms. The upper front two set of arms possessed five fingers and two opposable thumbs each. The lower back arms each ended with a serrated blade, perfect for tearing through flesh and bone. It was a pretty averagely sized creature. If it had been standing, it would have been about 1.75m (about 5.7 feet). However, every ounce of its body aside from the vital organs was muscle and exoskeleton. This gave it some incredible physical capabilities, topping that of the best humans. It had one purpose: killing. It was a bio-engineered soldier. As it passed, the leader said "Ahhh, my little murderer, you will make me great." He didn't notice, but the insect inside (known as a XiChung) turned its head slightly towards the noise as it passed. If they had been monitoring its body, they would have noticed that its brain was working overtime, and that it was stressed. It was waiting. For what, who knew?

OOC below is a picture of them

As the men reentered the ship and shut the door behind them a short pink rodent-like creature covered with small tuffts of white hair, and sporting a ragged mess of hair atop his head, clothed in brown trousers and an equally dirty brown shirt scurried up to the small ship, from behind a nearby dune where he had watched the man fall and be whisked back into the ship, and began to investigate it, dusting off sand where he could; quickly he was able to discern the shiplike nature of the buried object, but something else caught his attention, in the course of his investigation he came to realize that this was one of the organic vessels of the Asuaw that he had once seen in, the far reaches of the galaxy. Quickly he began prying away at the organic armor with his short claws, as he peeled a small corner of one back he stooped down on all fours and did not hesitate as he took a bite out of the exposed area of the ship. . .

camp was all set up, and everyone was either working, cooking, or on guard duty. Prex was on guard duty.He kept getting sand in his eyes "hmph,i hate this place" he said.
"sir, remember the human ship was landing somewhere?" asked a Xiati right behind him.
"ya, do we know where they landed?" replied Prex
"well, as close as we can tell, they landed a mile or two that way." He said while pointing in a direction
"send a sithrack their to see if their friend or foe."
"yes sir."
Prex usually would go but he needed to stay here. If the sithrack got attacked, he had a light armor on him, including on his head.
"i hate this place" Prex muttered again

Quickly he began prying away at the organic armor with his short claws, as he peeled a small corner of one back he stooped down on all fours and did not hesitate as he took a bite out of the exposed area of the ship. . .

Inside, one of the tekkies grew confused, and then sighed. The monitor indicated that a small portion of the outside of the ship was being attacked. "Sir, it looks like we've got a rodent outside."
"Alright, take a few men armed with EDRs (electrical discharge rifles, also bio-tech) and blast the bugger. Then make sure the armor is firmly attached." This would never have happened if he had had an actual warship. Their armor was much better, didn't just pry off. Still, this was the best he could get. Three men quickly complied "While we're waiting, lets begin the tests on that XiChung, make sure it still follows orders to the letter. Open the door." The guard outside activated the power booster, giving temporary energy to the door, which activated a preprogrammed reflex in the ship, causing the door to open. The leader, the man in the labcoat, and two other men who acted as the leader's guards, went in. The room was dark, lit only by the green glow coming from the tank. In order to conserve space, the men had shoved it between two crates at the end of the room. "All right my little bug, lets have a little ta.." He stopped dead in his tracks. The tank was empty! "Reflis, Vone" he called to his two guards, "surround and protect, lets get out of here...Reflis? Vone!?!?" Both were gone. The leader dropped into a protective crouch. His enhancements gave him an edge. He was stronger than any human, and he could see in the dark far better too. However, all he could see were crates, nothing more. No sound gave away the thing. He and older man in the labcoat began to move slowly toward the door. As they moved, his foot brushed up against something. He looked down. It was Reflis, his neck snapped cleanly. He also noticed his weapon was missing too, another EDR. This wasn't good. XiChung were capable of using weapons, and if this one had Vone's too, it was very dangerous. Then a shadow blocked the light from the open door temporarily, and outside he heard a scream. It was on the bridge! He rushed out, and he saw it. There it was standing at its full height, its two front sets of arms armed with rifles, both fully charged. It had blocked the other men off from the weapons crate. The leader slowly drew his own plasma burst pistol. The insect somehow detected it, and fired both rifles in his direction. If it hadn't of been for the enhacements, he'd of been dead. As it was, he was able to leap into the air and twist his body in a way that both shots missed him and hit harmlessly on the wall next to him. As he came down he fired his pistol several times. The XiChung dodged and ducked but was hit by one of the shots in the shoulder. It shrugged off the blow and headed for the door to the outside, far more quickly than any human could move. Before they realized it, the bug was outside and disappeared into the sandstorm. The leader cursed silently, having forgotten that a XiChungs exoskeleton protected it from lighter blows.
Meanwhile, outside, the men were closing in on whatever was chewing on the outside. Once they woke up the ship and gave it a boost of energy, it would heal itself, but the rodent was still a nuisance. They were so concentrated on their work they didn't even notice the XiChung comeout of the door at the front of the ship. The sandstorm prevented them from hearing anything. "Where is it?"
"Don't worry, were almost to it. We probably won't see anything til we're right on top of it."

the small rodent-like being stopped his attempt at eating the ship, his keen sense of hearing allowing him to hear the faintest of whispers over the wind of the storm, they were coming for him. He also heard something else, a commotion inside, something bas was happening, then it hit him, literally, as he was sliding down the opposite side of the ship, away from those hunting him he ran into the leg of the very large insect. Looking up and seeing the massive insect he let out a small yelp of fear as he scrambled away from it into the drifting sands on all fours, desperate to get away from the deomon like creature he had just encountered. He was positive his memory was not failing him, that ship belonged to Asuaw, and that thing had to be one of those horible abominations that they had created as supersoldiers. 'They must know that we are here, he thought to himself, why else would they bring soldiers? Where there is one there is always more!' he must get back to the city and tell his master.

Inside the ship, the leader was trying not to panic. "Radio the men outside, get them in here. No sense losing some more men. The rodent is no longer the issue."
"Should we wake the ship and prepare for takeoff?"
"For the last time, NO! We do that and we'll be detected before we clear the atmosphere. We'll follow the same plan. Stay locked down, wait for storm to end, and then we'll recapture our bug."
"What about whoever shot at us before. They may shoot the XiChung. And what about the other ship that landed?"
"The insect's sentient and slightly insane, not stupid. If he viewed us as a threat, he'll view them just as much so. He ran from us instead of fighting, so it's interested in staying alive. It'll avoid the others as best it can, unless it needs food. Since it was in its pod, it won't need food for at least several days. The storm will blow over by then, we'll take-off, and fly around until we find it, then pick it up and try altering it some more."
The man in the labcoat spoke up finally. "It could take a long time to find another viable configuration of DNA that might obtain something even similar to what we have now."
"We can't control it, but maybe we can try cybernetic implants, have them smuggled in large quantities to Asuaw."
"Are you sure it will avoid others?"
"What else would it do? Its a survivor."
"What if someone catches it?"
"Then heaven help whoever does."

Meanwhile, outside the ship, the XiChung was trying in vain to follow whatever had bumped into it. It figured that whatever it had been, it was less of a threat than the people inside. They had obviously wanted to control it and use it to kill, something not very good for survival. It figured that whatever it was following would lead it to shelter. It could survive out here, but it would get lost, and there was the small chance that the storm might suffocate it. Following something was better than wandering. If it was still following it. The thing had scurried away too fast. The XiChung instictively knew he had a good sense for direction, but if whatever it was changed direction he was lost.

As he ran the rodent-like being never glanced back over his shoulder, he' d heard to much about those bugs to stick around very long. He ran, the sand obscuring his vision, not caing where he ran right now, as long as he got away. Suddenly, with a loud crash and a thud he collidded with what only could be the Sithrak warrior making his way towards the other vessel. Staring in horror at the large warrior, he did what was only natural, he bit the giant being and then scurried off into the shifting sands once again.

meanwhile, high up on one of the dunes, unbothered by the flying sands the cloaked stranger watched through his protective goggles as the insect followed the small rodent away from the ship and collide with the approaching warrior; of all the snads on the planet somehow they had found each other, and the inscet was nearly upon them as the rodent scurried off once again, leaving the Sithrak to deal with the unknown approaching terror.
Settling down into a couch he watched the confrontation unfold. 'hopefully Mind will escape,' he thought to himself, 'he's much to useful to go down eaten by some overgrown insect, like that one back at the base.'

OOC: there's always wind blowing and such whatnot, sandstorms like this aren't too uncommon, but nevertheless the wind blows as to obscure one's prints within minutes, the landscape is always shifting. The Gank Federation Camp would be buied soon if you don't constantly keep removing the sand.

Wree, the sithrack was surpized when the rodent ran into him. he thought it was one of the humans, so he didn't fire at him at first, but then when it bit him, a sheer insult in sithrack standards, he pulled out four temporal pistols that the Xiati loaned him, used for making people age a lot faster then they're suppose to, and fired at the rodent, crazily, but with aim. he was trained for these kind of things, so he could see where he was going and pursued him.

Meanwhile at camp, Prex realized something that he, nor Vren thought of before. "pack up camp! then start moving towereds the humans! we need To move!" Prex commanded. the camp would be buried soon if they didn't move. "hopefully Vren will realize what we need to do" prex muttered to himself, as he started gathering things

Vren did realize this, right after the ship returned. "oh, i hope he knows what to do." he muttered. then he realized that one of the sensors was working somehow, and showed a rodent like thing attacking a sithrak, but accidently hit the transmitter, so he got no more images. "interesting" he again muttered

one of the shots fired by the angered alien zipped past the rodent, singing his sleeve and turning it instantly to rags. Terrified all the more by the strangeness of the Sithraks weapon, he scurried up a dune, and dove down the other side, burrowing down into the sand at the bottom. The wind swept sands and sandstorm was the only thing thta kept him alive, as his tracks were instantly covered up and his entry point obscured. Once underground the rodent, Mind as he was known to his friends, proceeded to dig through the sand, pulling himself through to a hopefully more secure spot. He wasn't trained as a warrior, he was just investigating the strange ship, as he had been instructed. Why did this always happen to him!"

The stranger on the nearby dunes, watched the warriorlike alien fire at Mind, knowing that the rodent was of use to his friends he quickly unshouldered his rifle, took aim, calculated the windspeed and sand efects and fired with a crack. A bullet went sailing through the air towards the exposed area between the Sithraks armor, at the point where his head met the rest of his body. Not waiting to see if his shot struck home, knowing that he very rarely missed, the stranger scaled down the backside of the dune and dissapeared once again into the swirling sands. This was going to be a long day, a day of honor, a chance to regai that which he had lost many years ago on a world not much unlike this one where he had been exiled for dishonoring his clan. He had wandered out into the desert to die, was attacked by a deadly beast, that he tried to fight off to no avail, only to be saved by him; he who was now here on the planet, he who the stranger was working for.

the bullet hit Wree in the neck, but his armor skin was a very strong armor, naturally developed in a totally worse envirment. He stopped and looked where th bullet had come from, but saw nothing, he then realized that he had lost his prey, and started going back to where the humans were suppose to be.
"i can't believe i fell for that" he said to himself. He felt like ripping some one to shreds.

The XiChung was very surprised when instead of catching up to the little rodent thing, he came upon a four-armed armored warrior with very large teeth. His preprogrammed fighting insticts kicked in, he raised both his guns, keeping one trained on the warrior, and kept his other set of arms loose, so that they could move and fire fast if this warrior proved agile enough to dodge the first shot. Oddly, though, he didn't fire. Instead, its underdeveloped vocal cords struggled to make a noise.
"What...are....you?" it hissed, trying to make itself heard above the storm.

Wree stared at the XiChung a little bit, taking it all in. he hadn't seen a creature like this before. It was smart, yet it had come from the direction of the humans. mabie the humans weren't alone. He needed to know, before ripping him to shreds. "besides" he thought, "he had his weopon out , and i have no idea how he fights." he sill did have two pistols in his two top hands, but he lowered them, and said, "i am Wree, of the Gank Federation. who are you? Are you with the humans?" when he said humans he raised his pistols, just to make sure if the XiChung fired his weopon, he would still fire back.

"I...am not...with the...humans." His voice struggled to make the noises. "I'm...running ...away from...them." He kept his rifles raised, not wanting to be cought off-guard. His pre-programmed uges were screaming at him to disable this thing and bring it back to the ship. As of now, however, his concious mind was winning.

The XiChung was perplexed by this question. It took a moment for the meaning of the word trust to come to mind. It wasn't particularly important in the ordering of his mind, not like how to break a man's neck without a decibel of sound. He finally came to the inevitable conclusion. "You..can't. But...we both...have guns. I...can take ...a few shots. You look...like...you can too. If we...fight...we both...die. Thus...fighting...isn't an...option. Thus...we must...comprimise." He had no idea where this was coming from. Logic was a new concept to him, but he seemed to be getting the hang of it. He wondered if the thing in front of him understood logic. Then he had what humans call an epiphany. "Take...me with...you...and...I'll...help...you fight...the humans." He assumed he was going to fight the humans. Something didn't come out this well armed and ferocious looking unless it was looking for a fight. Or maybe something did. He was so CONFUSED!!!!
