Location: Perave II system, the farthest reaches of the universe, an unexplored, undiscovered system hospitable to humans and humanoids, though not overly friendly in terms of atmospheric conditions.
IC: In the farthest reaches of the known galaxy, a small system hung untouched by the plague of humans that had taken over much of the populatable land in the galaxy. Twin single red stars, dimly glowing provided the four rocky and two gaseous planets that rotated the suns in a slow, methodical figure eight pattern, which bathed all six planets in an eternal dim twilight, all the way around the planet, save for the few standard years when the planets’ rotations took them to a place where one sun shrouded the other in it’s dim glow. All six planets followed the same orbit around the suns, and were nearly all identical; save for the two gaseous planets; cool bordering on cold, wind swept sandy dunes as far as the eye could see. The two gas giants were composed of mostly oxygen with trace amounts of hydrogen and other unidentifiable gases. The planets all appeared deserted, without a trace of civilization anywhere to be seen, save for one of the cool, sandy planets, the third in line to be exact; on this planet, there suddenly unknown to anyone appeared the ruins of a small ancient city, mostly buried by the sands of time. Our story does not take place in this desolate forsaken citadel. Well, at least not yet. Instead, as one scans the surface of the planet, small life forms are seen trudging up and down countless dunes, single file and weary. Though no one could hear, the droids groaned under the pressures placed on them by this arid environment, their joints beginning to freeze. The small band had been moving slower and slower these last days as they returned from the city. Returning to what is unknown, nothing lay ahead of them save for endlessly shifting dunes in a timeless sun, the shadows of the eternal dunes carving out monsters in the mountains of sand and erasing the footprints of the weary travelers moments after they were created. Perhaps something had lived here, once, but that was millennia ago. Today, there was nothing left but sand; sand and a small deserted city slowly being engulfed by time.
Miles ahead of the droids, buried by the constantly shifting sands, lay hidden a small cruiser. Just visible on it’s side, if one were to brush away the sand, you could read the name Eclipse, though it too was fading fast from the tearing of the wind. Inside the ship, nice and cozy sat a small crew of insectoid like creatures, each bearing two arms and two legs. None of them spoke, instead choosing to communicate with each other via their antennae. On one side of the ship two of the insectoids sat playing an odd looking differation of what humans once called chess, others slept, while still another was busy preparing a meal at the ship’s kitchen area.
Suddenly, the speakers buzzed to life:
“We have detected several small vessels of unknown origins entering the system. Cease all communication via radio waves. Maintain verbal and radio silence.”
Immediately the insectoids ceased all communication via antennae or verbal and the lights in the lounge went silent as the ship powered completely down in hopes of avoiding detection.
