Completely unnecessary, no reason to waste time mandating them.

Why does this matter?

Who cares if there is a uniform, or not?

They have benefits. It's a waste of time trying to argue they don't.

They help kids out.

One less things kids have to worry about: Their appearance, if they're unlucky enough to be at that sort of school.

I wish my school had uniforms. That way people would wear clothes appropriate for school. No jeggings or hoodlum-outfits. *hangs head and sighs in exasperation*

no need. We actually made it illegal to have all kids were the same clothes because it scares some people about comformity (even though we have a communist party in my nation).

We had one of these debates before.

I, and the other pro-uniform people had several reasons for uniforms.

Those against uniforms only had the freedom argument...which is just a rubbish argument.

School uniforms are ridiculous. Sure, a basic dress code makes sense (i.e, an appropriate amount of clothing, nothing gang related), but that's as far as limitations on what students can where should go. Requiring uniforms kills a basic form of individual expression, and, from my experience, creates a practically militaristic and far gloomier, more oppressive school experience.

I have no problem with them, but I think that they should be applied in private schools rather than in public so that people are not forced to wear if they do not want them. I think they add order and uniformity to the school environment.

Easy Identification, Removal of clothes as a social factor, keeping the kids (at least to some degree) tidy....

Etc.

There's more important things for the school to be worried about than the clothing of their students.
“Beware the irrational, however seductive. Shun the 'transcendent' and all who invite you to subordinate or annihilate yourself. Distrust compassion; prefer dignity for yourself and others. Don't be afraid to be thought arrogant or selfish. Picture all experts as if they were mammals. Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity. Seek out argument and disputation for their own sake; the grave will supply plenty of time for silence. Suspect your own motives, and all excuses. Do not live for others any more than you would expect others to live for you.”

Uniforms pretty much destroy your freedom to express yourself freely. And shouldn't censor that.

In America "stait a's" don't mean anything...not compared to an A grade in the UK.
