Why do people value life so much?

Postby Risna » Sun Apr 10, 2011 9:22 am

Greetings friends. Well i have been thinking lately and I realized that people value human life far too much. People are such humanists feeling as if human lives have worth for simply just existing? Like we should be proud of ourselves for doing nothing! It is disgusting. That we should "love ourselves" to think otherwise means something is wrong with you. The self esteem movement has gone too far. who needs accomplishment or why strive harder to be better? You are just good as you are right now! You awesome your special! You get a freakin cookie. If I do not love myself there is something wrong with me?

The reason i do not love myself is because i am a parasite to my family and society. I can not support myself I am reliant on others I am pathetic I am weak. All i can do is consume i can not build nor create.

I feel humans are just like they are described in "The Matrix" we suck the land dry and then move on like viruses. We are self destructive and are constantly in conflict with each other. We can only bring pain, fear, destruction not healing, peace and build people up. Why I ask you NS why do we value ourselves so highly while the world burns?

I don't value other peoples lives at all nor do I really care much about my life. I'm anti-Humanistic if anything, I'll never understand humanists.

Then do something about it. Quit bitching and take charge of your life rather than moping about it online.

Every organism on the planet would "suck the Earth dry" if given the chance to do so; they don't give a shit about anything else but their own survival and will destroy their environment more totally than we ever could if given the chance because they lack the understanding of their actions. Humans only cause environmental damage because we've been able to escape the nightmarish controls on population that run rampant through the rest of the natural world...and we're the only ones with the brains to correct that damage because we can think about the long-term consequences.

In fact, we're the only ones that can save this planet from its ultimate destruction and have made awe-inspiring creations that are easily comparable to any natural wonder.

To value one's self is a basic survival instinct. Why we do it as the world burns? Because as amazing as it is that we as a species can form such complex societies, we are not evolved enough to peacefully manage our population so that doesn't cause serious harm on a global level. Will we survive as a species to see that day? It remains to be seen.

I love myself and I love life, and because of that good things happen. You can walk around with your attitude all you want but it's never going to help you do anything but feel shit. I'll stick with mine.

Maybe people shouldn't be self congratulatory over every little thing, but on the other end of the spectrum are people who truly hate themselves no matter what they achieve. While for some people being unsatisfied with themselves can make them work harder, for others it simply destroys their self-confidence and prevents them from achieving anything. I think its hard to lump arrogance or sloth and self acceptance together.

Well, the reason why people value life so much is because it is a gift from Kim il-Sung, who created the Earth on April 15, Juche 1 (1912). He did not want anyone to end people's lives on purpose, but rather, let Mother Nature take it's course. As his son, I support Kim il-Sung's policies. If you turn to the path of Juche, life will be so much better, and who knows? Maybe one day, you will thank Kim il-Sung for creating life as we know it.

However, the part where you complain about your life deserve it's own post. On a BLOG.

For me, how much someone's life is worth is directly proportionate to how much I like them.

I think it is the opposite.

People are such humanists feeling as if human lives have worth for simply just existing? Like we should be proud of ourselves for doing nothing!

How do you get from valuing human life to valuing a life in which one does nothing? I don't think that humanists generally value "just existing", but value life for the good values that it offers.

The reason i do not love myself is because i am a parasite to my family and society. I can not support myself I am reliant on others I am pathetic I am weak. All i can do is consume i can not build nor create.

Are you an intentional parasite? If that were the case, I could understand your self-hatred. But if not, why not try to give your life meaning by doing something productive or creative instead of complaining that you are "weak". It doesn't need to take place in the context of paid employment.

I feel humans are just like they are described in "The Matrix" we suck the land dry and then move on like viruses.

Human beings create values. They don't just "suck them up".

We are self destructive and are constantly in conflict with each other.

Then don't be self-destructive and don't be constantly in conflict with others.

We can only bring pain, fear, destruction not healing, peace and build people up.

BS. Many people do positive things with their lives.

Why I ask you NS why do we value ourselves so highly while the world burns?

Because there is far more good in the world than you imagine.

why shouldn't people love themselves? Love is just a meaningless chemical reaction, after all. Nothing we ever do really matters anyway, so why not do meaningless stuff and be happy instead of miserable about it?

On a purely instrumental level that is false. If you do love yourself, then life, both your own and others, have instrumental value to you.
